I can say firsthand, I haven't watched the video but I own these boots. I've worn them pretty much everyday for 3 years. They're on their second heel. I wore through the original heel pad until it was flapping off. Additionally, the leather in the heel counter area inside I have worn through. I use them to work on trucks, ride motorcycles, chop firewood, off roading etc along with everyday use. I condition them before every winter as we get snow here. Awesome boot, and I'll continue to wear mine until the upper fails. If you're interested, I could send some pictures of them if you'd like to see what hard wear has done to them over that time.

It’s good to have at least 2 pairs of boots so u don’t wear the same boots 2+ days in a row. It’s good to let the inside of the boots breathe from all the sweat and moisture build up from your feet.

Back when this channel was young you used to tear apart one of the boot halves and always commented on the individual quality of the parts…stitching, leather, sock liner, etc. Can you do that again? I think it’s really interesting seeing how easily a heel block pops off or how many nails are used in the construction.

I got the logger based off this video and after about a year of use I gotta say this boot has been superb. As shown in the video, it handles wear and tear very nicely and the scratches do add some nice character to color of the leather. They took about a week of pretty heavy walking to break-in but are now very comfortable and fit well. Speaking of fit I would recommend a half size down from what you typically wear in sneakers. The only minor gripe I have is that I had an aglet on the laces break within about 2 weeks of purchase but thats small caveat in an otherwise great boot.

I contacted Thursday to make sure I was ordering the correct size, they asked about my other boots, I gave them the sizes of those, and then ordered based on their recommendations. The Thursdays were much narrower than anything else I own, even my Allen Edmonds Higgins Mills, which are also a bit narrower than the Red Wings, etc. I have since decided that, though Thursdays are a great value, I would rather have more expensive boots without all of the foam comfort materials inside that will eventually wear out.

I've owned these loggers for over a year and I like them a lot. My only complaints are with the identity confused design - like the fact that they have the dress style heel top lift, it is an 8 inch boot with no speed hooks, and as you can see at 8:27 they have no tongue gusset at all, so even though they have good waterproof materials and construction, if any water splashes on the laces it goes right into the boot. At least the heel and hooks can be fixed by a cobbler, not sure about the gusset though. Overall they are great materials and build quality, but I would change those few things if I had my way. The Whites Sawyer probably would have been better for what I wanted, for ~$100 more.

    Great vid Weston.
I’ve owned a pair of these Thursday loggers since early 2020 and worn them ~4 times a week since. I know a lot of people hate that stacked heel look but I love these boots, especially how that waxed cacao leather wears in. My main 3 complaints are the fake toe cap, thin top lift and un-gussetted tongue (tongue slid to the side while wearing). After 2.5 years I just replaced the top lift with a thicker one, and fixed the tongue in place with a small rivet.

I have both versions of the Thursdays Captain - the regular (made in Mexico) and the vanguard (made in USA) and I can fully agree. The few extra bucks for the vanguards is well spent money. The leather of the regular version is by no means a bad leather, but it's a bit thinner and tanned in another way. Also the soles on the cheaper ones had to be repaired three times already, since they use softer rubber that wears off faster and tends to detach from the tip of the toes over time.
The made in Mexico boots are still in very good condition and will last me a few more years, but if you compare the money spent on those repairs then you'd be better off on just buying the vanguards.

Could you try puncturing the same hide of leather from both sides? I suspect having to push through the intertwined fibres of the flesh out side makes it tougher to get to/break through through the grain side, while on the other the hand if you slice through the grain side, that fibre structure falls apart, possibly explaining why rough out would have a greater puncture resistance

I just got my pair of loggers after watching this video. TheLogger is the best boot that tbc sells. The leather is super thick and so is the outsole. The outsole is like 1/2” of vibram so it’s super padded when walking around the forefoot. I love any and all boots with a toe cap and out of all my Thursday boots these are my favorite for the simple reason of the leather, the Cuban heel stack, and the thick outsole. TBC definitely gives you the best materials your money can buy without it costing an arm and a leg. They are sexy, comfy, and nice Cuban heel. I was trying to compare the 1k mile boots vs the Loggers and I picked the Loggers because of the look, the leather, the heel stack and the fact it does have a shank whereas the 1k miles don’t have a shank. The 1k miles are well over $100 more and the quality is NOT there. I like the 1k mile boots too but they don’t have any with a toe cap in stock with a heel like the Logger. I have found that plain toed boots don’t break in as well and doesn’t look as good as cap toe boots worn in. I think the cap toe hides a lot of the creases compared to the plain toed boots. Just mo.

Corcoran jump boots and Rocky S2Vs would be great. Personally worn both boots and both have made in the USA labels. Also the (now) old-school US military boot that was issued from the 80s through the early 00s.

I like Thursday. I have another pair of their USA made boots. But I don’t like the combo of the rubber sole, and the narrow, low profile vamp. It’s a weird mixture of dress upper and rugged sole. Pointy low toes are for dress shoes. Round, higher toes are meant for work boots.

I owned a black TB Captain - not a bad boot but before a cobbler fixed it the eyelets were munching laces for breakfast. In general the quality and finish was mediocre at best. Eventually after two years the overall construction was so wobbly I couldn´t wear them any longer. - I wore them alternatly with a pair of AE Higgins Mill that I roughly purchased at the same time - and they are flawless. Don´t no if that´s the usual thing with TB or they sent me B-stock by mistake. I live in Europe so returning them was´t an option in the beginning. Bought a pair of boots made in Portugal at the same price point - great boots.
