    I just bought myself an FO32U2P. Since I had my last monitor (Samsung U28E850D) for 8 years, longevity was a point, and the DP 2.1 was the dealmaker over the MSI MPG 321URX, ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, and Samsung Odessey G8 OLED G80SD.

I am on an older 43" Gigabyte QD OLED and while it would be nowhere near this in image quality, it was also expensive and downgrading in size for so much money is a tough sell for me. • @dynastes4938
      @dynastes4938 3 місяці тому +1

      @@freedomearthmoon1 I would not like that, obviously. It is better, however, than having artifacts appear six months after purchase and the manufacturer categorizing that as to be expected, don't you think?
      Also, I earn enough money to not feel a purchase like that every few years. So if the experience is worth it ... sure, why not. It is not something I am not giving a lot consideration to, though, otherwise I would have bought the AW3423DWF, when it came out :)

    • @freedomearthmoon1
      @freedomearthmoon1 3 місяці тому

      @@dynastes4938 Well sure, 3 years is better than 6 months. I suppose part of my assessment is the 240 Hz refresh rate. Your paying for FPS you won't hit.

    • @dynastes4938
      @dynastes4938 3 місяці тому

      @@freedomearthmoon1 Well, firstly there are advantages to high refresh rates even without matching them in fps, which is why I am not a fan of people mixing them together. How much blur you get on an OLED in motion is highly dependant the refresh rate of the panel, for example, as we are still talking about sample-and-hold displays, albeit very, very fast ones. A higher refresh rate is always better there because of that, no matter the capability of the computer used with it.
      Secondly, the display would likely be used with another faster GPU, too, even if it lasted only three years (which is unlikely in the end, since an OLED does not instantly become unusable when burn-in starts to appear anyway). Sure, AAA games will likely never run at 240 fps or more. But if that was the only point that mattered, most high refresh rate panels would not make sense to begin with.
      And thirdly, there are older games I'd like to experience on a monitor like that, too. And those will hit 240 fps no problem.

    I've been "burnt" once and getting PTSD for being an early adopter to oled monitors at high prices. Spent ~2.4k aud equivalent on the 42 inch philips evnia, which started off being great based on the reviews and what i got out of the box, but philips bricked it few months later with a firmware update. They forced Auto dimming onto the panel and working with web browsers and microsoft office became an absolute nightmare for me to deal with. The whole panel will dim itself after 3-5 minutes of working on the panel even while im typing because the rest of the screen was "static". To restore brightness, you'll have to shake the application or alt tab back and forth from a different colored application. Even alt tabbing between chrome and microsoft word wont restore it sometimes because majority of the panel still stays white.
    All this just to reduce their likelihood of handling RMA within 3 years due to burn-in.
    This is still not rolledback or reversed despite many users being angry and complaining about it!

    I've still yet to see a OLED monitor that is better than OLED TVs. They all have pretty big compromises to brightness and HDR. 2025/2026 will hopefully be the year for Ultimate 4k 240hz OLED monitors with 1000+nit brightness at all times.

      fr fr. The input lag at 60hz and 120hz is also the best you're gonna get on any 4k qd-oled 240hz display😅. Other 4k high refresh rate qd-oleds are 42 to 46 inch so that's just not as sharp, not as detailed as the 32 inch 4k qd-oleds.

    The AMD RX 7900 only support Display port 2.1 at 54 Gbs (UHBR 13.5) but the max for full sized display ports plugs from a some independent testing is limited to UHBR 10 or HDMI2.1a with a proper cable. If you want to Test UHBR 20 then this can only be done on the mini display port with cheapest supporting GPU being the Radeon Pro WX 7800. While Nvidia Geforce 40's and Intel ark don't support higher then Display port 1.4 + DSC or fake 2.0

    • @IndenturedYoutubeSlave
      @IndenturedYoutubeSlave 3 місяці тому +1

      truthfully the Displayport & HDMI standard labeling and is confusing and manufacture clearly misrepresent their products and often forge to confirm if it type A or B revision of the standard all the time. to give a false boost to product stats

    QD-OLED =/= OLED. QD-OLED is really just a fancy form of LCD. It's not bad, arguably better than OLED in some ways, but local dimming isn't the same as per pixel perfect contrast.
