- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- Follow us on an IFR flight fromMorristown (KMMU) to Washington Dulles (KIAD) in a Citation V business jet. The procedures in the cockpit are explained, ATC is recorded as is the intercom between the pilot flying (PF) and the pilot monitoring (PM). Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Enjoy!
Message to Chandler Lewis: You made my day!
Of course, a disability should not prevent you from flying. There is always a way around it.
If you are ever at Danbury CT, call in - I will take you flying,
Caution: flying can be addictive and can harm you bank account.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Very professional videos. You seem to be a very good teacher as well.
Took a 12 year lay off. It's taken me a full year to get back in the saddle. Just passed my commercial written and prepping for the check ride. These videos are really inspiring.
Thanks.
J.
Great to watch a professional crew working together. Makes me want to go fly my plane with more professionalism.
I've always been fascinated with flying but as a person with a disability I never thought I would be able to do it, as a pilot. But watching your videos inspired me to Google it and to my amazement there are actually flying clubs for people with disabilities of all shapes and sizes. So I've set the ball rolling and see where it takes me. What strikes me about your videos is the level of professionalism displayed and I'm going to take that forward with my flying. Safety first!
Thank you very much for your kind words.
All the best for you & Happy landings,
Capt. Guido
Excellent professionalism in the cockpit. If we could just get more people to put forth this much effort at work, the world would be a better place. It's refreshing to know there are still those that take their responsibilities seriously.
Thank you very much, Thomas.
We are not perfect, but working every day to make flying better and safer.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido,
I enjoy your videos very much. Keep doing what you do. I wouldn't change anything. The professionalism and precise nature of the flying you guys demonstrate are impressive. And, I just love the Citations. Thanks for sharing.
Todd
Nice video. I also like the information you type out. I also go back or pause to read it all. I must be a slow reader. Thanks again my young daughter, 5 yr old loves watching the flights. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much for your kind words and for watching my videos.
The camera is a GoPro 3 mounted on the cockpit ceiling.
Happy Landings,
Guido
One more thought...I have learned so much about what it takes to be a pilot. Definitely a job that requires complete focus. I have nothing but the utmost respect for your chosen profession. Thank you so much for all of your educational aviation videos on UA-cam. Nothing but the best.
You are very welcome, Stephen.
I am glad you like the videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
You are absolutely right, Francisco!
The day we stop learning, we might as well hand in our pilot's license.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Great Teamwork, very nice landing, clearly two highly professional pilots there!
Thank you for another great flight. What a charming co pilot you had. Love the way you work with ATC. Thanks again
Thank you very much. The F/O is very professional and flies a Jetstram aircraft now.
Happy Landings,
Guido
KJYO's my home airport, so I enjoyed spotting a few familiar landmarks on your approach. Thanks for yet another great flight deck video, Guido Warnecke!
Greetings Michael!
Thank you.
Happy landings,
Capt. Guido
Thank you! I am glad you enjoy my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks you very much. And thanks for continuously watching my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Great job! You and your co-pilot are an extension to that Citation. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!
I will pass this on to the other crew member.
Flying is team work.,
Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido, I started flying in 1977, got my private. I have not flown much in the last 15 years, but suddenly the itch has come back. I am now in my fifties. I recently went up last February in a Cessna 172, and amazed at how much I remembered. This only put more fuel on the fire. Your videos help to keep that flame burning. I need more! Thank you.
Hi Daniel,
I hope you get back into the cockpit soon.
More videos are in the works - please stay tuned.
All the best in the New Year & Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido, Thanks again for your videos and uplifting message. Happy flying!
I forgot to mention, the last flight I did was with Gulfstream Girl.(Nadia). The vidio is posted on youtube. Lookup "Daniel Aviloop"
I received my private in 1981 at age 17 and have very few hours, but like you, am dreaming of getting back in the left seat. The only obstacle is, yes, you guessed it, lack of $$$$. I hope you get back in the air ASAP. May God remove all obstacles.
Congrats to the written! The flight test is more fun...
All the best for you future flying endeavors!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you!
To become a commercial pilot is a long and difficult process. You have to get your flight hours up, minimum 500h, better 1,000h.
May be to become a flight instructor is an option.
Best of luck for you career! If you bring in passion, hard work and if you never accept a "no" as an answer, you will have success.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much, Alan. I am glad you enjoy the videos. More videos are in the works.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I just can't say enough good things about your videos Guido. Superb job, and keep up these longer videos!
Thanks for your kind words, Todd.
More videos are in the works - stay tuned.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Matthew, we can "spilt" the audio panel - the PF talks and listens to radio no 2 (ATC) and the PM listens and talks to the radio no 1 (FBO). We use number 2 as the ATC radio because it is on the right side of the panel. The PM, who normally operates the radio, does not have to reach over to the no radio every time there is a frequency change.
Thanks for watching the videos so much in detail and happy landings,
Guido
I have to agree 200% with Mr. Brooks. I would fly anywhere with you two in the flight deck. Professionalism Top to bottom.
Thank you Stephen.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
You are correct, John.
IN this case, a co captain was flying with me, an excellent, highly experienced pilot.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much for watching my videos.
More are in the works.
Best regards & happy landings,
Guido
Nice you got a controller who asked your parking position. I took our club Cessna down to IAD last year and they didn't ask (i didn't think to volunteer). They also gave us 19L. Upon landing, they told us to taxi to Signature, and seemed surprised when we said we were going to Landmark! At least we got a nice tour of the airport...
Man I'm glad I found this channel, I could watch these flights all day. Thanks for the great videos.
Thank you very much.
There are 160 or so videos on the channel - enjoy!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Love UA-cam
Thank you very much for you kind words!
More videos will come shortly, so please stay tuned.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Such a smooth landing, true mastery of the machine!
Hi Josh, yes the taxi on the ground at IAD is a mission by itself. Many miles to go...
Happy landings,
Guido
Dear Guido, awesome and very interesting videos. It´s a pleasure to watch such a professional crew. Many happy landings!
Thank you very much!
Happy landings,
Guido
Thanks for your kind words. The longer videos have a size of approx. 3.5 GB. Luckily I have an internet provider with unlimited data...
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Another fantastic video, Guido. Thanks for showing the portion after landing and taxi into Signature.
Three greens, cleared to land , mike's happy...:-) fantastic video ,Guido. Grüße Kim
No silly questions in aviation!
The "coffee bar" refers to an electric heat system for a coffee and a hot water pot.
We have no coffee machine on board, but can keep fresh coffee hot.
Happy Landings,
Guido
This is one of my favorite videos Guido.
Another excellent video Guido...Very informative but not over complicated.
Thank you Dave.
your positive feedback is much appreciated!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you! I wish you best of luck for your training and for you future career in aviation.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much. I was asked to make the captions visible for a longer time and consider that for the next video. Others say they do not like the captions too long in the video.
Thanks for watching and happy landings,
Guido
Thank you very much. We try to keep (some) fun in the flying...
Happy Landings,
Guido
Manuel,
the camera is a GoPro3 hero. Very good equipment.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Hi Stephen,
to fly on a Citation as co-Pilot it's only a multi-engine instrument rating. A Captain, you need a type rating and an ATPL.
Thanks for watching my videos and all the best for your upcoming flight training!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you! You are very welcome.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Hallo Kim,
Thank you very much. I will let Mike know and that makes him even more "happy".
Thanks for watching the videos & happy landings,'
Ghido
Hi Theo, there are no "stupid questions" in aviation.
We are in the service business and according to the customer request, we either stay at the airport and wait, stay over night or return home. It all depends.
Many thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Thank you Clifford!
We use Jepp FD software on the iPad. Works very well.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Hi Chris, in video 07:00.
Aircraft below FL180 use local altimeter setting. Aircraft in the flight levels use standard 29.92. If the altimeter setting is 29.92, no problem. If the altimeter setting is lower than that (in our case 29.76), the highest possible VFR altitude 17,500ft and the lowest possible flight level would be too close together. It is 100ft for 1/10 of an inch, so 29.92 minus 29.76 is 0.16 inches or 160ft. Instead of 500ft vertical spacing there would be only 340ft spacing.
Thank you, Marcel!
Happy Landings,
Guido
I cannot remember exactly. We have a "stabilized approach" concept. In IMC we want to be "stable" at 1,000ft AGL in VMC at 500ft AGL. Stable means: Gear down, fully configure for landing, Speed Vref +20 max, vertical speed ledd than 1,000fpm.
Thanks for watching my videos!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much, Dan!
Happy Landings,
Guido
another amazing example of airmenship Cptn. Guido :) greets from AZ
Thank you very much, Marco!
I will pass this on to the other crew member. Flying is always team work.
Greetings to AZ & Happy Landings ,
Guido
Very impressive flight, Guido. Great CRM.
Yeah, you guys happen to have the SBJ Solberg VOR there and air traffic control sends us there quite often.
Fly safe!
Happy landings,
Guido
Thank you very much, Tristan.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks! The videos are for pilots....
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Thanks!
I have adapter to connect to the headset socket and connect a cable directly to the camera. So audio is focused on the radio, not so much around ambient noise.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you! A video of that kind is planned for the future, this is very time consuming so it may take a while to be finished.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
You are very welcome!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much Ron.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I'm an Orthodontist..who one day hopes to learn flying..:) your videos are so nice... thank you.. learning as much as I can now..so that it'll be easier later..thank you once again for you videos and hope to see more in the future..:)
+Mathew Sunny
Thank you, Matthew.
Go out to the nearest airport and to an "introduction" flight with an instructor. You sit left seat, and it gives you and idea how nice flying is.
Caution: can be addictive...
Happy Landings,
Guido
Hehe.. Sure Sir.. Will do.. ☺

Thank you very much!
More videos are in the works for you.
Happy Landings,
Guido
The have good controllers at KIAD.
Thanks for watching my videos and Happy Landings,
Guido
Love to watch you guys operate together! Great informational video as always. Do give a heads up next time you come to IAD and I'm more than happy to snap shots or take video of you guys coming in!
Dan
Another great video Guido ! Thanks for taking the time to film and edit these vids. I find them both entertaining and educational. Question- When displaying a lot of written info, could you let it display just a tad longer? I find myself stopping and backing up, to finish reading all that you have written. Thanks! Bruce
Thanks! Will do.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Great videos! I'm working on my IFR now with my commercial after that! I'm looking forward to finding a corporate job after that!
Yeah! I know the V speeds. It's interesting the point you must take both hands off the throttle. Makes sense.
Always learning.
That's why we are pilots, aviators. Always learning.
Thanks!
Francisco, your FI is right for the small piton engine aircraft. The throttles can creep back after take off and you can be in trouble.
With the jets, the system is different. After a certain speed during take off - we call it V1 decision speed - you are too fast to come to a stop in case of an engine failure. The jet is powerful enough to accelerate on one engine to the rotation speed and take off. This can take a couple of seconds. To overcome the natural temptation of a pilot...
We use an iPad for enrourte and terminal navigation. FAA approved. Some people complain that the iPad is too big and recommend the iPad mini.
You have to find out. We use Jepp FD, but Foreflight is also a very good (if not better) software.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Good question! DCA is very restricted. Crew and pax must be thoroughly checked and apply for landing permission. A TSA certified Air Marshal must be on board.
All private flights serving the area go either to BWI or to IAD.
Thanks for watching my videos and Happy Landings,
Guido
Wow! What a cool coincidence! I'm flying into IAD IFR in the Skyhawk so I was looking for a visual on what to expect and boom! You're flying out of the same airport I do! That's a plus haha although this flight will be from CDW. Also I recognized Gary on tower immediately! Great guy, everyone knows him that flies here often
FunFlightsHD It is indeed a small pilot's world...
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
Hi Guido, thank you for share your videos, I am flying the Beech B200 and Cessna Citation 550 at Europa. I like a lot off your way to do the things in the cockpit, very profesional, congratulation from Spain
Thank you Enrique!
Where is your home base in Spain?
Un cordial saludo and happy landings,
Guido
Guido Warnecke Hi Guido, We are operating from Barajas airport LEMD and Cuatro Vientos airport LECU in Madrid. Good flights. Continues to make fantastic videos of your operation. Mit besten Grüßen. Enrique
Thank you!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you and greetings to Italy!
Happy Landings,
Guido
There is nothing published but 3 minutes sounds like a good number to me. There is a max ITT for shut down, cant remember the limit. Typically this should not be a limitation.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much for your friendly comment and for your advise.
I will keep this in mind for future videos and show a start up from a "cold" airplane. I am still working on my video editing skills. I am a (very) good photographer with (very) good Photoshop skills, but video editing is something new to me. Please stay tuned.
Happy Landings & godspeed!
Guido
Thank you very much!
Best regards,Guido
Thank you very much - muito obrigado.
Happy Landings,
Guido
We certainly will. However we cannot buzz your house...
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Nice flight, thank you for your videos
Love this take off!!!!
Thanks!!!
ivan perez You are very welcome. Ivan.
Happy Landings,
Guido
At 18:31 I touch the electric trim with my left thumb. This disengages the autopilot and an amber (yellow) light illuminates on the op left corner of the instrument panel. The Citation V is a pretty stable aircraft and with some experience you can hand fly this aircraft very easy by hand. Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings.,
Guido
I will consider this next time - thanks.
Happy Landings,'
Guido
Mr Warneke my compliments great video as usual are yours. :-)
...to "pull back the throttles after an engine failure at a speed beyond V1, the procedure is to take both hands off the throttle.
I hope this explains, why you see this on the video.
Many thanks for your comments & happy landings,
Guido
Yes, you are right!
We have one Citation V with the UNS and one with the GNX.
"OBS" might be a more common term for that.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Marcelo,
the "P" stands for "Pseudo". We ere creating a Pseudo VOR our of any waypoint, to fly a radial inbound like in a VOR. In the Garmin GPS this function is called OBS.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much for you comment. I am glad you like the videos.
More are in the works, so stay tuned.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I do not fly a Citation II at the moment.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Great question Chris Muncy!
Great video and nice job!
Thank you very much, Matthew. The video editing still has room for improvement, I am working on it.
Happy Landing,
Guido
Missing your wonderful videos, Guido. :)
Hi Don,
here my latest video:
ua-cam.com/video/Af3fVp8R8bg/v-deo.html
Thank you for your patience.
happy Landings,
Guido
I just found your videos a couple of days ago and I love them! Makes me feel like I'm right in the jumpseat. Is there any chance you can show us a startup in the Citation from cold and dark?
Nice video, PVOR. only UNS 1 users will understand!
Wow! I just missed you guys. I live RIGHT near kmmu. Let me know when you're in the area again. Ill watch you take off!
From 29.91 to 29.82 the lowest usable Flight Level is FL180. Our altimeter setting was 29.76.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Guido
Man, what a greaser of a landing. Nice!
Thank you!
We never show the bad landings...
Thanks for watching my videos & Happy Landings,
Guido
