Big reason Dulles build an underground tram system and got rid of most of the 1960’s mobile launches is because Dulles has gotten to be such a busy airport over the decades there have been a few near crashes between the lounges and aircraft. Much busier place now then it was in 1962 when it first opened
The DC area is one of the busiest air spaces in the country. As a general aviation pilot you’ve definitely got to be in top of you’re game when flying in the DC area air space.
Love these vid's of you at the larger Bravo's around the area in the Cirrus. Nice one man! (btw Xplanemaster in the streams is what you probably know me as)
Thanks for the video. At a large, busy airport why not do the run-up at parking? Seems like doing the run-up on the active runway is the absolute worst time.
CitationMax I always do that when possible but you have to find a place where your prop wash won’t sandblast other planes and structures. I always want to say “N8409Y (or now N799CC) will be ready to go at the end.”
I work at Dulles and listen to my airfield radio in my truck. I refuse to enter the AOA movement area when the major turns (United) are happening. We will sit for 30 to 40 minutes waiting to jump in to get clearance for movement and crossings. The ATC gives us non-pilots no breaks.

And "those things" are our Mobile Lounges. The ones with the big towers move up and down to mate with planes for Apron off loadings and loadings.
good job on not getting pushed to TO and finishing the run-up.
sashbak06 thanks man! Safety over time
