When you hear music of this quality one wonders why has it been so neglected and remains unknown!

Yes, we hear Handl...John Christopher Smith Jr. had a few lessons from Handel and Johann Christoph Pepusch but studied mostly with Thomas Roseingrave. He later became Handel's secretary,.... In 1740, encouraged by Handel, he decided to organize his own series of subscription concerts. In the course of nine years, he had six operas performed in Italian....Between 1759 and 1768 he directed the annual performances of Handel's Messiah at the Foundling Hospital, where he was organist.

THUMBS UP...I had been besotted, & later became addicted, to Bach's & Vivaldi's compositions, since my childhood! I am very grateful for this upload about another 18th C. composer of great merit! THANK YOU.

Na verdade este compositor é de um período posterior, stilo galante ou preclassico

Indeed it is later, still Smith was Handel's copyist (hence pupil and conneisseur in the best way possibile). The style is actually very close to Handel's, I can also hear borrowings from the master.
