The Cub was my first motorcycle, 1965 model with a 50cc engine. By 1967, I was delivering 180 newspapers before class in the seventh grade. I abused this bike, and it took the abuse very well. I traded up to a Honda CL-90 Scrambler in the Summer of 1968. The Cub gave me a life time of memories at a tender young age.
I bought mine new in ‘21 and I freaking love it. I have other bikes for different purposes. I’m 63 years old and have been riding since I was 12 years old and I’m 6’ 210 pounds and look absolutely ridiculous on it but absolutely no fucks given because it’s a blast to ride to the beach and ride the coast from Oceanside to Imperial Beach. Stopping for lunch along the way. A few more ponies would be nice to haul my carcass up some of these hills we have and not revving its guts out in 3rd gear. Having said that, screw it let the cagers go around😂 This little 125 easily keeps up with traffic on surface streets even with me on it. Mine is bone stock and I plan on leaving it that way. Only have 2,700 miles on it and it’s in pristine condition. It really is a functional, practical work of art and an almost do it all motorcycle. Good video! Enjoy the Cub👍👊
Same Tom. I bought one for my wife but find myself regularly using it to pick up stuff from the store. Gets way more looks than a common Indian or Harley.
I have a 2021. (red like in the video) Great urban bike. I live in a small town outside a larger city. Everything is within 3 miles. Grocery, restaurants, govt offices, banks, haircuts...etc. Speed limit never gets above 35mph. It's great for zipping around town. If you want to consistently ride over 45mph for longer distances/times, this is not your machine. It WILL hit 55mph (flat road with no wind), but it's not optimized for that kind of riding.
The semi automatic transmission was developed in the late 50s for noodle delivery riders they would ride one handed with noodles in a basket in one hand so could not have a clutch so honda developed the semi automatic
In todays world I think the economy being around 100 plus to the gallon is wonderful , I had a work mate who used one for getting around on in the early 70s , it never let him down and he used it all weathers even in the winter , great little bike , I'm now thinking of one myself in the near future just for fun 👍 great video thanks,
Thank you for such an enthusiastic review that highlighted some points I was not aware of, in particular the tubeless tyres, that's a big deal for me who intends touring on a Honda Cub.
Great reviews of the Cub and Trail 125’s, they are both iconic machines and a major part of motorcycle history. In an ideal world, I would be like you and have both but when having to chose, for me I think it’s the Trail. Mainly because it has more of a rarity value and is more easily customized with a wide range of accessories.
Props to you, thanks for sharing. I agree on all fronts. It would be lovely to see Honda give the US market a serious marketing campaign around their 125s. Here in nyc, where they make so much sense, dealers get zero bikes and I think I’ve seen maybe 2 people on Supercubs other than myself. I own a RE Himalayan, which just isn’t practical for a lot of would-be riders. The Supercub is my prized favorite, and makes commuting fun. So many people here could benefit from knowing about these bikes AND being able to purchase them. Keep up the great content!
Awesome channel, how have I missed you before! Subscribed! I'm very close so doing something crazy and selling my CBF600 and getting a Supercub! My only concerns are stability (as I'm 6'2" and 200lb) and other folk tailgating you! Oh and I heard the brakes aren't great... 😅
I traded in a 2020 Triumph Bobber for my Trail 125, so you are in the right place 😅. Stability will be fine. I'm 5'11 185lbs, not very far off from ya. The front brake is totally fine. The rear is definitely a pretty mushy drum brake.
Good review man, I'm waiting to pull the trigger on one of the cubs, will Europe get the original colours back anytime soon ? last few years we only have the metallic black.. it will go along side my benelli tnt 😅😂 small bikes are the best full😅😅I'm only back riding two years but iv no interest in big ccs anymore.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support. As far as I know, the color will change annually as the new model years roll out. Eventually we'll all be able to tell what year a bike is by its color.
I have the same Cub coming in two weeks. It’ll be my second Cub. I had the blue one with a red seat but sold it when I passed my test. Regretted it as it was a fun & frugal machine. So soon I’ll have my Cub again along with my K2 Suzuki GSXR1000. Yin & Yan personified. 🤓
The SuperCub is probably an awesome bike if you live inside a city and just need to get around in that city. I've always wanted a used one. They just never took off in the US because the laws are prohibitive against mopeds by treating them as motorcycles, and the distances are so wide. You can't find used ones cheap. If you live in the country, the lack of a 55mph top speed and cargo carry capacity becomes problematic. 95% of the use of my three other Honda motorcycles is to haul groceries, so if you can't haul groceries with it, it's useless. With the Supercub I'd add a big plastic file crate cargo box on the back, a basket on the front, and/or wear a backpack. I wouldn't buy the new one, not because it's bad, but because it's wayyyyy over priced. For the same price, you can get a high end nice used actual motorcycle. I mean, Honda is asking 4000 for that. I bought a 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit 750cc recently... cherry mint almost and mostly well kept... it looks like a brand new bike... for 1900. Granted, original list price someone paid once upon a time for it was 8000. That thing will tear up an interstate. If you buy a new bike off the showroom floor, expect to be fleeced, or if you still do, keep it indoors and treat it like a diamond classic car polishing it like a diaper like Camron's dad in Ferris Buellers day off... because you paid a premium penny to get golden brand new.
Thank you for the great review. I am still thinking about whether to buy the Super Cup or the Rebel 300 (or the Navi)? I am leaning towards the Rebel 300 because it may be better on short highway stints than the Super Cup. But I don't know.
Thanks for watching. I do plan to get my hands on a Navi soon for a full review, but until then, I can't really speak on it. The Rebel 300, however, is really great. If you also have a car, I would likely go Super Cub. If you don't have a car, I would probably go with the Rebel 300 for the hwy reason you listed. If you subscribed, Navi content should be coming soon!
I used to have 2) Tomos mopeds in mint condition. Tiered of no dampers on suspension. Jay Leno reviewed 2019 C125abs. Dealers said 50% down w/3yr wait. Googled "pre-order c125" and Orem Powersports popped up. Called dealer & was told they had two on the floor. Had it that night. Owned many motorcycles & this is my favorite. Purchased July of 2020 new & have almost 6k miles on it. Most fun with kick stand, Kajima bag frames, luggage rack and Chase Harper Aero3500 bags. Added magnetic drain plug @300mi's. Was riding with Utah Jazz Bear up State Street, he on his Harley in full costume and me on my Cub, kinda' fitting.
The front works, the rear does not. There are several full wheelset options on the market luckily though. I have purchased a set, but that reveal won't be for a bit.
One thing I don't like about Honda is that they don't offer all the models in different country's. I live in Panama where they only offer a couple of basic small engine models. The SuperCub unfortunately is not offered. What is offered is much cheaper in price though.
Do you think this bike is powerful enough to get around a suburban environment (4-5 lane roads/45-50 MPH)? I am also looking at the Monkey and Grom. Thank you
Of those bikes, I would choose the Super Cub if I was in your area. The Monkey feels more toy-ish. The Grom is great, but I like the bigger wheels of the Super Cub at speed. The Grom does have a manual clutch, though, so that may be something you'd like. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate your support.
In most US suburbs the Cub would be a fine choice IMHO. It LOOKS like a scooter and ACTS like a motorcycle. (it's really a motorcycle with scooter "styling cues".) It's not a port bike, but a fine commuter for city/suburb duties. That's what it's made for. The semi auto is a PLUS in this use case.
@@Dailycozwerks In Europe, to go up through the gears, you press down with your toe, and heel down it to change down. Why Honda have two ways to change gear seems bizarre to me. I guess you just get used to whatever gear change you have.
Like with cars, It's more fun to ride a slow bike FAST than to ride a fast bike SLOW. You get a HELL of an adrenaline rush cranking little bikes! Due to their size/weight you can get Huyabusa "kicks" from these lil' bastards while keeping legal if you're doing it right. Makes commuting a blast, not a chore! It's like .22 LR shooting. It can definitely be tricky. I'm not sure where you live, but I have had success calling dealerships in more rural areas. They tend to be the ones randomly sitting on inventory. There's a manufacturing shortage, though, so if they don't already have one, them getting isn't really possible.
Beat bike I ever brought and for those who say get a big bike you don't need one everyone says to me get a big bike but the speed limit around me is 30mph so if you on a big bike or this one your still doing 30mph but using less petrol

I love Honda's minmotos; the Super Cub, Monkey, Navi, Grom, but they have some very ugly scooters-if I go scooter, it will be Piaggio. It needs a back luggage rack.

Number 1 reason-- it was and is a great motorcycle for utility and fun use, urban style.
I am very interested in this bike .... the big problem in my city is finding one at a dealership.
I feel like several dealership just aren't stocking them, and the ones that are can't keep them in stock because of the strong demand.

I don't think the CT125 rear wheel will swap-out for the C125 because trail has a rear disc brake.
