I want a Trail 125 because my grandpa had a Trail 90 when I was a kid and remember riding on the back with him. He passes in 1969 so I only have a few memories of him.
Super Cub, and Trail. Definitely Yin and Yang, female and male. Love em both! But I went for the Trail, (It's a 2024 and it's Yellow!). Can't wait to take possession in a couple days.. Thanks for the great 125 Honda videos!
I ride a 2024 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic LT. I always had a desire to buy the Honda Super Cub. I’m living in the Houston Texas area and they are difficult to find. I just bought a 2023 models that had 20 miles on it. I definitely paid more than I should have but I have no regrets. The cub is beautiful, it is a work of art. This is now my favorite coffee run motorcycle. I am an older rider, and I feel that someday the Vulcan may be too difficult to ride, but the cub will allow me to ride for few more years.
i ride a 1200 sporster xlcustom but when im riding the neighborhood or the dirt backroads i love the ct 125 i always have people asking about it because they remember them from way back
I like the idea of the Trail 125...But I went with the humble CB125F. It is less than half the price of the Trail, has 5 gears and a clutch (important for me, because I wanted to pass my license test on a manual bike, which I did) and is actually really capable in the dirt even with the stock tyres. I like the Super Cub, but I would still choose the Trail for its practicality if I had to choose between the two.
Both are great bikes the CT will kick start and run without a battery. The super cub can be started with a boost start but still wont run with a flat battery, it HAS to have a charged battery to run. That is a potential deal breaker for the super cub. But As my runs are 5% if ever off road, the super cub is my choice. But I will have both if I ever get enough money. You are a blessed man.
I actually browsed local dealers stock after watching this video and low and behold there are plenty of super cubs listed and the metropolitan and ruckus are even commonly listed below MSRP but I have seen not one single trail 125 at all. One guy local to me even went so far as to go 1000 miles to Washington State to buy one at a reasonable price.
Great video! I own a Honda Trail 125 myself. It’s awesome. I would like to add that the Trail 125 is better because it has a key and kickstart. Although the key fob on the Super Cub is a really cool feature it might fail when the battery goes dead. So the Trail 125 is more reliable in that aspect. And honestly, if the Honda Super cub had a key and kickstart and was available in Canada (it’s not unfortunately) I would have bought the Super Cub
I literally just bought a 14 year old Honda innova instead of a modern cub because of the key / kickstart issue, such a blinding design error on this type of bike
More proof that we all have different taste. I much prefer the looks and style...yes looks and style of the Trail/Hunter cub. The fact that you can either mount a seat or very substantial top box makes it even better. The Super Cub makes a nice street queen for an urban environment, but you better carry a messenger bag or a back pack. I think my wife might prefer how it looks.
The Super Cub is the bike that made get interested in motorcycles 7 months ago. I've gone and taken the MSF course and m1 license. Now I'm just saving up the money to get one.
I was looking at the accessories that you guys posted the link to (17 pages) and they had a gas tank that's fake that's really a trunk and with that thing on there it looks exactly like a real motorcycle You would never even know it's a trail 125... I would get that but it doesn't go all the way down between your legs so theres still is gap between the tank and the frame. If we took off all that space it would have been groovy man ! I think I have decided that's probably where I'm going to install my thousand watt motorcycle stereo :) I'm thinking about expanding to a subwoofer too I don't know if I can do that but I think I'll try it ! Thanks again for the videos ! The driveway looked great by the way and it's exactly what I was getting ready to do very soon
I have the CT125 and my brother the C125, I think the Cub is a bit faster and handles better, the Trail is more upright and very useful out the box. I have a 1981 Cub though with a 125cc engine and its more fun than both maybe but not as nice and less safe (brakes).
I have owned them both recently and the gearing is lower on the Trail 125 and either one work well on paved and unpaved roads but if you plan really going off road then you had better buy the Trail 125 Honda.
I know I am in the minority, but I wish they would offer the base cub version that is sold in other countries to us. It has spoked wheels a drum front brake and a keyed ignition. I just like it's looks, and it would be so much cheaper.
Love the review! Just subscribed as your enthusism is contagious. Lifelong rider but nit really enjoying my KTM 690 sm - 2007 any longer as my hips kill me and its a hard ass hoolugan bike for someone who is 71. I may just get the Super Cub for now as i hate not riding and i do live its style. May be able to bumper mount it for vacation too!
Love this video flick. Heck yeah! Gimme the super cub with a rear rack for a bigass milk crate for commuting to work, some groceries, and beer and the trail for camping and fishing. Too bad every time I go to look at one at a dealer they are always sold out. I reckon there’s a reason.
Would have liked to compare these two bikes with the 1971 K1 Honda Trail 90 I had with the Powroll 125 stroker kit. Took it from a bog standard old Trail 90 and made it a super sleeper. Unfortuantely, it was otherwise a 6 volt 1970 Honda with all the lighting weaknesses, carburetor and points and condensor ignition, and needed anti-ping gas additive.
We just purchased two Honda 2023 CT-125 trail bikes and love them but the seat is a little tall for my wife. It looks like the seat on the Super Cub is somewhat lower than the Trail seat. Since you have both models I was wondering if this is true? Is the lower looking seat on the Cub as comfortable as the seat on the Trail? Could you try swapping the Cub seat onto the Trail for us to see if it actually fits? If it does fit onto the Trail this may be the easiest way to lower her Trail seat. I would also need to know the model year of your Cub to order the correct part. I think the Cub seat would look great on the Trail too! You have two of the most popular motorcycles in the world, lucky guy. Thanks, Randy.
I am a short man. The Super Cub is a little lower than the trail version and also a little shorter in wheelbase. I like the way it feels to me. It was more comfortable than the trail version. I use it for running around my town
I love my 21 SuperCub...but ive only put 900 miles 😂😂😂 so...ive added passenger seat, foot pegs, sidecstand and made a few mobile device mounting bars😮😮😮
It didn't sound like you covered that the Trail has ABS on it's front wheel as well as dual disc brakes that the super cub does not have. (No ABS, only front disc brake and the rear is a drum.)
The pricing you are talking about for the CT125 is absolutely crazy to me... I can walk into any of the Honda dealerships in Bangkok and ride out the same day on a new CT125 for about $2500. While I think its a great bike, and a great looking bike, but $5K is wild to me.
100% they charge a cool tax. I have a trail, and i absolutely love it, but yea i was out $5k on the bike. Used they might fetch a higher price than a cub but both will hold value really well. Whichever one you pick youll be happy. Tubeless tires are definitely a plus. The super cub is classy.
I mean.... you're wrong... but I still like you 😋. All jokes aside, I can definitely see that with the wheels. I like mag wheels more, but these ones definitely aren't the most attractive example.
@@Dailycozwerks so I went to the Honda dealer today and you right they have two Honda cubs a green one so beautiful I fall in love absolutely love it . $3800 plus all of the bs that stealership charges
The Trail 125 can be kick started even if the battery is completely dead. And it has a real key not a fob. And it comes with factory fitted side stand and center stand. It is overall a better value. If your supercub battery dies, you cannot push start it because the ignition will not fire without being activated by the key fob.
This isn't true. You can 100% push start a Super Cub with a dead battery. It will generate enough energy to power the ignition and start the bike. I have done it several times. A couple of which were in videos on this channel.
Are there any replacement mirrors for the Super Cub that provide more field of view, sometimes I have to lean to the right or left to see near following vehicles I adjust mine to just catch my outline on the inside edge of the mirror when going straight.
Does anyone know whether the engines are identical (except for the kick starter)? Reason for asking: the Trail is not available in Europe and self-import fairly impossible because of the trail not being Euro-5 emission homologated. That’s not necessarily saying it couldn’t pass that test, but that homologation is way to expensive if not done by the manufacturer. However, the SuperCub is sold in Europe (at least in Greece as far as I found out so far), so that engine must be certified as being euro-5 compliant. Thus my idea whether putting a supercub engine into a trail would allow me to make the Trail street-legal in Europe 🤔
What do you think about the Can Am Ryker? I want to ride again but I'm having to learn to walk again (neuropathy) and balancing a bike at a stop let alone shifting with a foot I can't feel would be difficult. What do you think?
They seem like fun. I don't know a ton about them, though. If I were in that situation, I would likely go for the Piaggio MP3 or Kymco CV3. I just have a soft spot for scooters.
Hey man, I have had luck at Ride Now Powersports (It used to be called Freedom Powersports) in McDonough. They seem to have consistent stock of minimotos.
