    Very nice side by side comparison between the F450 and F550 models in terms of payload I would love to see more videos of the F600 F650 & F750 models also

    I agree that it would be great if you started reviewing the f600/650/700 etc because a lot of us use those as rv haulers because the cost difference isn’t that great but the payloads are much higher and they don’t require class “A” drivers license (CDL). The capabilities and durability are much higher as well. Forgot to add please do Ram/gmc everything above 3500’s/350’s, I’m looking to pull the trigger on one of them, just starting my research and you tell everything, quickly, factual and the stuff is regular guys would ask (like you do) about because we tow rvs, nothing commercial. Most channels wanna just either talk about numbers that mean nothing unless you’re a mechanic or do bs tests that don’t test what the average dude tows. Anyone who’s hooked up to a 40’+ rv has different concerns than just weight. There’s a feel to it, not just math and you cover it! Great work JB!

    Great job as always! People who use their trucks for actual work like me, really appreciate the technical information.

    So, I am most interested in PAYLOAD since I will probably be carrying a truck camper (4500 pounds). Currently have an 07 F350 diesel (crew cab) with about 4800 pounds payload capacity. To maximize payload, I'm thinking F550 (with the 84" PJ body) but with a gasser vice diesel engine. I would save 10 grand on the diesel and we're in no big hurry to get from point a to point b when traveling. Would probably deal with occasional mountains on the interstate, but I'm confident the 7.3 gasser would do the trick. Just wish I could get a larger fuel tank for the gasser like the diesel comes with. What do you think? Thanks.

    • @bossturbo
      @bossturbo 3 місяці тому

      The 7.3 motor is "fine", but MPGs are kinda bad with the 4.10 gears. I have an F350 SRW CC and have towed 19k+ pounds with it a couple times and it pulls it no problem at all. Truck + trailer tipped the scales at about 27,200 (oops). If I had to do it again I would get the diesel because you pay once for the motor but save $ every fill up and it's faster, which is nice just for fun, but also if you're trying to merge or whatever. My factory payload before all my crap in the truck is like 4300 lbs on a single wheel, its pretty crazy.

      You could certainly get an additional fuel tank (with fuel filter & 12V pump/hose nozzle) for the bed of the truck. Many options from simple to “hidden”.

  • @rgvieira-od3ve
    @rgvieira-od3ve 3 місяці тому

    In one of JB’s videos, I think he mentioned an air ride option (maybe it wasn’t for a Ford…?…). Is that available for Ford? Is it possible to add air for trailer brakes? Seems like there are a lot more reasonably priced options for trailers if one includes those with air brakes.

    But I need one of these trucks for a lance 1172 slide in camper. Payload is important. What would the payload be for the 450 & 550 on these 2 trucks? Camper wet weight is about 5000lbs then I still have people and cargo to consider on top. Is 450 not enough payload? I wanna say I need 6500lbs on safe side. Diesel truck is what I want to go with for better mileage and looking to get a fifth wheel camper in about 8-10yrs down the road

    AWESOME REVIEW!!!
    1. Please translate from “cab to axel length” to “bed length”. I’m still not clear what wheelbase will allow for a 10 ft bed.
    2. It would be logical to include F600 review with this F450/F550 comparison as they have the same cabs. When going up to F650, cab/cab height/cab look all changes. Maybe you could do the F600 review & edit it into this video…?… I’d certainly watch it again 😊.
    3. You might have already discussed this, but I’d really like your take on:
    derated 6.7(330HP, 825 ft-lbs)
    vs.
    regular 6.7(475HP, 1050 ft-lbs)
    vs.
    high output 6.7(500HP, 1200 ft-lbs)
    How much are each option?
    Is it worth it to upgrade to one or the other?
    THANK YOU !!!
    Keep up the great work !!!

      60” (5ft) Cab to axle is normally what is used with 8ft beds.
      For 10’, go with the 84” (7ft).

    $90k and you got to sleep in the back seat? Think I’d be looking into a m2 instead. May cost a little more in the long run, but the pay load and comfort when having to sleep on the road would be worth it.

    You stated the wrong horsepower on the gas 7.3. it's not 300 Up it's 430 Up and 474 torque just saying but other than than great comparison.

      On Cab and chassis... both gas and diesels engines are derated (less power/torque) from the factory..

    • @kylethomas3098
      @kylethomas3098 6 місяців тому

      I can believe that, but to buy bigger truck get less HP that really makes sense about like making all big rigs electric lol thanks

    • @deal492
      @deal492 6 місяців тому +1

      @kylethomas3098 a lot of things go into that decision to derate.. but remember a lot of those huge numbers on pickups... are not realistically usable.. with all the torque limiting, and nannies.. most people will never use those stated numbers... but hey... it's sells trucks.
