i first saw this when i was 8 years old and thought it was funny then, its even better now and im been searching for this clip for the past 8 years . lol
I remember when this came out, thinking how I never realized Joe could play the drums. This and the Jerry Lewis "Thriller" bits were my favorite parts of the show. I think Jan Hooks was in this special, too.
I used to live in California and there was a Safeway grocery store plaza in Santa Clara, Homestead Road, California where so many times I spotted a dude in the parking lot who would put the kickstand down on his mountain bike so it stood up. Then he would pull out his drumsticks and play on the bike seat. I saw him so many times but don't know how long he would drum out on the bike seat in that exact parking spot.
very funny and very sad. he went from rags to riches and back again. this actually reminds me of myself. when I first started playing drums in the 60's I had no idea what I was doing. in the 70's I took lessons with the best drum teacher in new Jersey. although I never got o play Madison square garden, I had my share of small clubs an pubs. played with the best guitarists in my area and took alot of drugs and had lots of sex with strange women. 46 years later I'm still drumming better than ever, but nobody wants me cause I am to old and ugly. playing the drums is more addicting and enjoyable now then drugs or sex. I will play till I die, and I will die with sticks in my hands.
We had this taped on VHS. Used to watch it all the time as a kid. Had no clue wtf was going on but loved this skit. Thought it was weird AF 😂 I just noticed now when he comes on stage and gets handed the huge bag of white its literally almost all gone after two sniffs hahahaha Piscopo was a hell of a drummer though for real
Ive been a drummer for 32 years, and during year ONE, I saw this sketch (byw, Joe did a great drum solo during the first Comic Relief) and didnt care that it was comedy. The man could PLAY. And he was fucking hysterical as Frank Sinatra. Great clip here.
I'm not a Piscopo fan but this bit was just weird enough to arouse my interest when I was a teenager. I loved the fact that there was no dialogue. From an HBO special or something?
Piscopo was too much comedy. Piscopo should be celebrated with wine , women and dong. I usually have the kitchen TV with VCR in tow watching old Piscopo clips while sitting down at the kitchen table eating a baloney sandwich and looking out the kitchen once in a while. You should see my grin of content.
@@MoparStephen Watch his lame “Club Piscopo” and you will see that this is the same lame schtick. Joe uses a not funny skit to show everyone he can play drums. Wow. Look… a plate of cocaine… so funny. I challenge you to watch the video if Piscopo serenading his former nannie “Kimberly” and not puke in your mouth.
Loved him!

Me too
So much trouble trying to find this, for real, you shine folks.
I can't believe I found this! The first time I saw this I was crying from laughing! Score!
Glad you found it. I couldn't find this anywhere online but I managed to buy the VHS tape and digitize it.
@@MoparStephen thank you!
Seen this when it first aired on his HBO special Always loved this one from him. Thanks for posting!!
He looks like he should be the drummer for Night Ranger

Have you seen his “Club Piscopo” or his piano serenade to “Kimberly”? Nobody is more embarrassing than Joe Piscopo.

Reminds me of my saga but with a guitar . The memories are priceless.
+Gud Dergo it saddens me even more to know that there is someone who has to feel the same as I do.
Who gives a shit?
@@lestergreen1190 OMG, hah.
Joe Piscopo had more talent than any Saturday Night Live cast member in the past 20 years.
In other words...not much more.
Hahahaha WTF are you smoking 5 years ago…although I would agree that this is a classic skit/video from SNL!
This is fucking cringe
@@JoeLink56it was from a comedy special he did
@@chrispix61
Fair enough, I stand corrected on that front. However nowhere near the talent that his uncle @user-ed4fv….. was touting 7 years ago
I have been trying to find this skit forever. Thanks dude !!!

Joe is awesome
This is not really a parody, or satire. It's more like a documentary.
Or a short morality play.
As was This is Spinal Tap. A Documentary.
7:35 Benny Goodman's Sing, Sing, Sing!
there's a clip on youtube where Joe actually plays that live for an audience.
At last! My childhood is back! Its good to feel lil sometimes.
Love his big tray of coke! 😂😂😂🤘🤘
NICE clip !!!!

We do what we do for the love of doing it, everything else surrounding this gets in the way. After the hype and back to the Music.
Good message
If you fused this with Billy Crystal's old jazz musician you might cause the end of the world.

This guys bubbles dad for sure!!
An exquisite display of self-indulgence.

looking for video of 1986 New Year's Eve MTV live Joe Piscopo opening drum solo
2:46 Jack Russell from the band Great White.
He was the best. I wonder where he is now.
Joe does a conservative radio show in NYC on 970 the Answer.
Piscopo's best work, mostly because he's not talking.
The Sticks of Destiny.
excellent
Joe Piscopo for president
Are there any old school 80’s rockers in the cast? Recognize anyone?
Bill Maher referenced this on his podcast with Carrot Top.
,,,,intresting !!!,:)
I saw this when it first aired but the ending was different...He left the audition and threw the sticks back in the trash can.
lmfao

Very, very sad.
hey beat, spell your name!

Blast Beat @ 6:35 !!!
Nice. I have a video of John Densmore (Doors) doing a long blast beat, and it's from 1968! I'll post it soon.
Classic HBO.
damn that's a lot of coke lol.
great white
Snorting coke put a whole in one of my friend's esophagus. Ruined his larynx and voice box too....
Whole
So what's the moral of the story?
Do lots of coke, or not, follow your dreams yeah and do lots of coke anyway, your gonna get old and die like the rest, or die young like the best !
Don't be a Joe Piscopo
What the fuck was that all about?
+littleteethkeith The cocaine 80's ! The ups & down sniff..sniff.. damn post nasal drip.
Joe can only do one beat and its terrible lol
I find it funny that Joe Piscopo thinks he’s a drummer. The ego on this Jew cracks me up.
Joe Piscopo is the opposite of funny.
His stand up may not have been the best but if you can watch this video and not laugh, you are a cold person.
