Oh hell yes, he absolutely could. His SNES soundtracks (like Plok and Spiderman/X-Men) are just sublime. Equinox too, but that's definitely a more atmospheric style.
YA KNOW, PEOPLE SHOULD MAKE MORE TIM FOLLIN COVERS IN THE STYLE OF THIS ONE(BY HAVING THE DPCM CHANNEL SAMPLE THE INSTRUMENTS FORM TIME TRAX). THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
I'm actually working on a SNES cover using plok samples right now. Pretty much everything sounds pretty good, except for the drums because the samples are super quiet for some reason
@@KTJohnsonkidThunder It's pretty true. Curious enough, Tim used samples on Amiga and SNES heavily, with some more examples on C64, but didn't use samples in almost every other chip console. Spectrum, NES, almost every C64 and his only Megadrive soundtrack.
Damn, this version really does the song justice. It sounds exactly like what Tim Follin would compose on the NES if time trax was on that system instead.
@@AmethystASTeRReisYALL Yeah, I liked that. This is far better but your version had magic too. Gotta love the obvious main theme mashuping. I'm almost missing the Pictionary part here haha
Wait, what’s this I see, a Time Follin style tune, using the DPCM channel, and sampling instruments from the original version of Time Trax?!😮😱🤯😶🌫️ Awesome!😄🤩😎👌
looked through the nsf, you really managed to use litterally every trick and function you can do with the 2A03 that i know of. single channel echo, tons of arpeggios, using the pcm channel as a 3rd pulse channel + bass + drums, all the slides and vibratos to hit the groove on the nail. However no triangle kicks, but thats to be expected with sampled drums. Gotta say tho this sound like what would come out of the nes if follin learned how to use the pcm channel.
This is absolutely amazing! Especially love how the guitar translates to the pulse. One thing I'm kinda missing though is that noise-like demodulating sound at 1:33, with some slow pitch-bending periodic noise it could be replicated pretty well.
You know just what I'm listening to, don't you? lmaoooooo Seriously, I've heard versions without DPCM before over on SiIva's channel posing as Pictionary, but the DPCM beats the shit out of those. Well made.
I'm late, but I still can't get over how fantastic this is. I remember rushing very very hard to dump the entire game's soundtrack when the prototype was first dumped. The end result was the Line In set for being a bit too hot. "F1RST" isn't a good thing! :P
Thank you so much!! Both for making it, and for sharing the nsf!! EDIT: I'm completely stunned about how you managed to convert this complex song so flawlessly. Wow.
Makes me wonder, if you disable the DPCM and make the arps into the strict regulations what Stephen Ruddy's NES driver was capable of, then that would be the closest thing to ever sound like if this game was made on the NES instead of the Gensis. Other than that, amazing work man!
This is some sick shit my dude
danooct1 you're alive!
I miss the 8bitdanooct1 channel :c
Hi
Didn't expect you to be here
Goddamn is this giving me a solid Tim Follin groove. Sounds like he could've made it on the NES without much loss.
Thank you so much for this.

Yes and no. Follin NEVER used DPCM.

Thing is, Follin never used DPCM.
@@KTJohnsonkidThunder I said it sounds the same, not that the techniques are the same.
I made a version of this track for SiivaGunner but this ultimately blows out my version, great job on this!
The Pictionary rip?

The one in kfad?

Man, doing this without the VRC6 channels is crazy, good job
Jesus, this is in the normal 2 rec / 1 tri / noise / DPCM setup and not the VRC6 setup?
You, sir, have my respect.
This is absolutely amazing! Especially love how the guitar translates to the pulse.

You mean for the triangle sound (the metal one, not the 2a03 one)? Noise channel can’t pitch bend, unfortunately. Only has about 16 different notes.
Yesss, thank you! This is one of my favorite Tim Follin songs, and when I saw it on my feed, I got excited! Awesome arrangement!

Those Pictionary rips were good enough for my music playlist. This deserves one of its own.
And now they're gone from the internet forever.

I can't pay attention for crap. :D
Inb4 Tim Follin appears in the comment section like Jeroen Tel did
@@voxel9470 you know, Tim made his own game. A pretty good one at that. Did all the music for it too.

Incredible! I love this tune. NES magic.
Woah didnt expect to see you here.
Better than I thought it would have turned out, and it's not even overclocked.
I was just listening to this song before listening to this one. Nice job! 👍🏽
This really feeds my imagination.
Thanks for this epic piece of epic.
Absolute nuttery.

What a lovely take on the title theme of Time Trax, can we hope to see a mission briefing in the future? In the 50hz version, of course

YES!!!
Pure insanity.
HOLY SHIT! That's amazing.
Amazing bro
I actually like this more than the Genesis version!

1.2 velocity for the 60hz version

It's a Slap Bass sampled.
Holy fuck, how did Vinyl do the arps at 0:25?
1.25x speed for NTSC-but-slightly-too-fast mode
any chance you can do a cover of plok one of these days? maybe n163 can do the trick
He need to do a list of Follin's best of.
For real.
Someone get this to play on hardware, NOW!
what the fuck how
I got a bit of a dumb question - Is this track composed in Stereo somehow, or have my ears gone on the fritz again?
There’s some light stereo mixing in post, yeah.
