Very nice, +VinylCheese! When I composed this back in the naughties I didn't expect it to show up in this form. It's been played by orchestras ... and now... this way. :-)
the original piece is a fantastic example of great understanding for theme. Sadly this style of tune isn't a thing these days and all we here is bloody remixes
MΛRTYNΛSPLΛYZ But his remixes do use stereo, which an unmodded NES doesn’t support. His songs are still awesome without it, it’s just a small touch that makes them that much better
I remember first coming across this song on a random video game music generator. Since then I have loved this song. You've done a great job covering it.
You can enlarge the waveforms in Audacity by normalizing the individual channels, but this is a good first try though. Great job in making a cover of this song 👍🏽
yes dankje and I knew that before making the video, but I didn't have a player yet to play this file type so I had no idea what it looked like until I uploaded it.
The latest SidWiz should also let you watch the video being rendered (which you disable at any point to make the rendering faster) and that helps you by not having to render a full video just to see that it's not what you were looking for.
This is just fantastic, but there's something I never got with some composers like Tim Follin or Jeroen Tel. What's with that "staircase" triangle wave ? I mean, the question more specifically applies to Follin - I don't know if Tel ever did something on NES, which was a far more limited system, but Follin and now VinylCheese prove that even within these limitations this effect can be created. My question is, what is it ? And how is it made ? Why does the triangle look like that ?
It's just the way the triangle wave looks when played at low frequencies. It looks that way because the wave is rather low resolution. It'd look about the same if you had a 32-step N163 triangle wave.
So is this just visual evidence of binary shifts/steps, made evident because the frequency is low enough to see the details of the wave ? Do all triangle waves on all types of chips do that ?
it depends on the bit depth of the wave. smaller bit depths will look and sound rougher, while larger bit depths will look and sound cleaner and smoother. Example (N163 again): a 32-step sine wave to a 64-step sine wave.
uh idk, what player are you playing it on? when i tried it i didn't (still don't) have the right player to correctly play the file, but i uploaded it (privately) and well, here it is. so yeah but idk, i used a lot of the ones aready on my computer, idk which one i ended up using in the end
Could you split into two columns with 4+ voices? The grid could even look nice with the video. Is this the latest stable SidWiz version with 20-voice support?

By the way Jeroen you misspelled nineties
Dankjewel! Ik vind je muziek heel erg leuk, en ik wilde dit lied zelf doen.

If only 2 years ago me actually knew
@@SwissVinyl Are you Follin or Tel's friend??.
How are you THIS superior at Famitracker? You're slowly starting to get to "Inspiration" levels of perfect.
He mainly composes his music with little to no instruments at VERY high speeds in Famitracker to perfectly recrate every frame and nuance of a song.
I think he uses high speeds in Famitracker, but not overclocked. BTW overclocked can run on a real NES, it would just take up more cpu usage.

Didn’t expect to find you here Dok, what a pleasant surprise!
i've tried for YEARS to cover C64 works with 2A03 and i. i've never seen anything that's come this close... i honestly am speechless

I've never heard the original, and I'm already impressed.
Original SID: ua-cam.com/video/Bdz5X814bNQ/v-deo.html
You should make a 2A03 cover of Jeroen Tel's '1999'. It's one of my favorites by him.
very nice to see that the nes can reproduce a perfect trangle note
I love this song and you did an amazing job on it. Wish the Famitracker window was on the right half of the video.
Out of all the versions of this song that i've heard (including the CID original), this one is the best
The YM2612 cover is also the best too!.
@@user-ql2re2es9y i didn't know such a cover existed

hey VinylCheese did you know that Jeroen Tel saw and liked this video?
yooo nice
This is excellent!
Machinae Supremacy represent!
That snare is delicious
Lets wait, and see what the man himself thinks of this....
Very nice
Mmmm that snare..... juicy!

VinylCheese you can use VLC Media Player to see what the video would look like before uploading it to UA-cam

This is beyond incredible. I'd love to analyze the ftm O_O
I wish the actual NES version was like this.
You should make a cover of Last Ninja 2 😍 Excellent job!
2:14 I came
ok there just needs to be one for golden axe
Качает что надо!
All of those covers sound like a grown up SID .
the waves are tiny but i think theres an option to amplify them

Why thank you, good sir, both for your patient answers and amazing musical content.
To answer your question, Jeroen Tel has done music on the NES. One of his best tracks (that I've heard, anyway) is the title screen for RoboCop 3
Would it be okay if I can use your music for a game I'm working on?
Kan je dit ook op een echte NES ten gehore brengen?
huh where'd ya get sidwiz2

Sorry for bugging you so much but one more question, what video codec do you use? 90% of the time i end up with audio but no waveform.

VinylCheese I use Windows 10's tv and movies program.
I like your version more than original
No download? Please!?

I'm not sure, I just got it from RushJet1's YT about page.
