amazon are the worst when it comes to the one star reviews, i was banned from doing reviews forever for simply mentioning a certain movie was woke.
allegedly you can repeal that ban, and i have tried multiple times, but if never leads anywhere, so i just decided to not do business with Amazon anymore since.
and i hear they are struggling in getting more prime users for over a year now, i wonder if something like this is related?

Well...they love automation because they don't have to pay dozens or hundreds of workers to do the same tasks. And for that, you can thank the incessant calls for increased minimum wages. Or "living wages" as they're so euphemistically referred to. Automation reduces expenses and increases profits while also lightening the load from those few workers who still--theoretically--oversee the machinery.
Thing is, though, that humans are terrible at monitoring machinery. Unless there's some kind of alert when bad things happen...they just simply won't notice until it's too late to do anything about it. Plus, humans are really good at generating improbable edge cases that engineers and programmers didn't conceive of. You mix those things together, and it doesn't even need to have any malice behind it to get to that dystopia you mentioned. Just simple, uncomplicated, natural human behavior.

@@nightrunnerxm393 dawg nah you can thank the profit motive for that. you’re right that they love automation because it is way cheaper and makes them way more money, so no matter what the minimum wage is they will always try to cut down the number of personnel needed. however, this is a flaw with unregulated capitalism rather than legislation that at least tries to put bandaids on the economic disparity that exists between the working class and the elites
what we should have is a system that allows for automation to help the average worker not need to work as hard and for as many hours, while still producing the same or better output for society, but unchecked capitalists will never let that happen if their goal is only to milk profits out of workers

For what it's worth: it's best to not go to war against the website. If you managed to take it down, they'll just set up another website or three. Letting the website remain allows law enforcement, if they can get involved, to look into it and potentially take everyone involved down. The best option would likely be something along the lines of letting the lawsuit play out, informing the FBI about the site, and letting the public know about the sites but never be specific. If the information is too specific, the website owners will just take it down and start up somewhere else.

No matter how hard you fight, whenever you defeat one evil, a hundred shall replace it just around the next bend. What we do is fight--not through legalities, but through cultural warfare. We fight by instilling current and future generations with values that prevent this kind of twisted mentality, and letting the outliers simply burning their filth out with their own mistakes and actions. When possible, apprehend the bad guys. But never, and I mean NEVER, relinquish an opportunity to impart wisdom, values, and care into the foundations of the future. We win by ensuring as many people as possible see this kind of evil is vile and unclean. We thrive by ensuring our children and their children pursue happiness through natural and effective means--things like starting families, reaching personal goals, and instilling traditional and/or religious values upon our children. If we can teach them to be happy, then this swill can never thrive.

Chemist here. The problem, as I see it, is that Amazon's algorithm underhandedly suggests that this specific chemical is used for self-harm. Regulating purchase of the chemical itself is completely pointless: there are literally hundreds of far more toxic chemicals one can freely buy. There are relatively common plants and mushrooms that are fatal in much lower amounts. Trying to regulate all chemicals that are fatal at this level makes as much sense as forbidding access to bridges, train tracks and cliffs.
Ironically enough, what should be forbidden is the use of the chemical as a food additive, as it's been proven to be carcinogenic decades ago, but that's a different matter.

To me it's an indication of an immoral character. But by accident? We should increase availability of educational materials for people. I think it should still be sold on Amazon if educational materials are out there and some moron offs themselves that's just natural selection. #1 thing though is our society should not be compulsory and proactive. Our society should be exclusively voluntary and reactive. Which means we respond to things by learning and sharing information with each other. We should not try to prevent things through control.

@@ArDeeMee hey I get your perspective I totally do and there a level of really high emotional intelligence there but suicide is a "me first" behavior. It's a decision that you are going to put your feelings and wants over the feelings of others. Life is supposed to hurt. Pain is the greatest teacher. To refuse to step up to the plate and to say "I'm more important that the entire game" will only spiritually result in you waking up right back here in the third dimension to learn the same lesson all over again. Some people call is reincarnation. So suicide doesn't even accomplish anything. It's not even a viable escape. There is no escape. There is no hiding. There is only facing your demons or insecurities whichever you call it and coming to peace with the fact that you aren't in charge and you aren't here for you you're here for your squad and theyre here for you. We either exist inside God or the mathematical system of the universe whichever you call it (same thing) our life is a series of symbols manifested through an interdimensional dialogue between us and ourselves. Suicide ignores all that to just say "i want the pain to stop" but that's impossible and suicide won't accomplish that. The pain will never stop until you acknowledge the lesson it is there to teach you. No matter what you do
EDIT: and the self-defeating psychosis that comes with suicidal depression isn't genuine. The "I only drag people down" thoughts. It's a dialogue designed to excuse the choice of suicide in the person's mind. It was for me. I also used it because I had become addicted to the depression and self defeating emotions. Suicide is the ultimate expression of freedom or free will. To be free from sickness, pain, evil, corruption, and your eminent doom is not a bad idea. It wasn’t your idea to be born why should you suffer for a life time? Cruel, if you ask me. If I don’t want to be here who are all of you to stop me? What gives you the “right” to control someone’s life if you truly believe in the autonomy of free will?

Because there’s a lot more to live for than just this moment; there are resources and people out there to help people dealing with these issues, and help them live a fulfilling life and reach a potential they may not have imagined. I’ve had personal experience with this; a close relative of mine was dealing with serious depression for a while, but after some therapy and medicines, you could hardly tell.
I understand cases of assisted suicide and euthanasia where someone is terminally ill and can’t be treated, but a lot of the people who would want these kits or to kill themselves in other ways are likely traumatized by their past and other events, at their darkest hour, and not really in a state to understand their situation and make the best choices. Suicide isn’t ending their suffering; it’s ending their chance at happiness and something more.
And as for survival of the fittest, mankind’s niche is in its intelligence and cooperation; we’ve gotten to where we are by working together and finding mutually beneficial interactions. We all have our moments of strength and weakness; ideally, we can all support each other in our times and areas of weakness and be supported in turn, and find a place where we can use our strengths to help others. If someone with issues like depression can, with some support, find a place in the world and benefit society, I’m not going to abandon them.

It is an interesting discussion to be had. The Stoics were very much for "the right of every man to take his own life", and they believed that in some cases suicide was more commendable than living (Marcus Cato chose to die rather than live in disgrace, for example).
"The best thing which eternal law ever ordained was that it allowed to us one entrance into life, but many exits. 15. Must I await the cruelty either of disease or of man, when I can depart through the midst of torture, and shake off my troubles? This is the one reason why we cannot complain of life: it keeps no one against his will. Humanity is well situated, because no man is unhappy except by his own fault. Live, if you so desire; if not, you may return to the place whence you came." - Seneca's Moral Letters, 70, "On the Proper Time to Slip the Cable"
However, these "virtuous suicides" aren't the majority, and you can make the case that somebody opting for suicide isn't in their right of mind, and therefor isn't free. The psychologist Rollo May argues that we become more free by becoming aware of the unconscious patterns and drives within our psyche, so it follows that if you're being driven by unconscious forces, you're not truly free (Man's Search for Himself).
In short, suicide prompted by deliberate reason is a choice, and every person's choice, but suicide that's the product of despair or of a sick mind can't be considered a choice.

Bone-chilling report. And....a wake-up call of sorts. I've been suffering with chronic depression perhaps my whole life, from abuses I've sustained outside of my home as a child, including one attempt of CSA from two older boys, high-school age, claiming to be friends of my brothers but wanted to use me as a blackmail scheme against my brother (long story in and of itself) and one assault from another student in junior high. My parents were aware of the bullying but only my older brother was aware of the later "issue" (my poor "knight" went to his grave never knowing about the former). But I survived, goodness knows how, but with a caring family I never felt alone but now along side being treated for adult onset ADHD, with my doctor's close care I'm learning how to cope with both my ADHD and my depression. I don't want to go into any more personal details but in terms of the topic at hand, (even though I'm sure this was a very hard subject to cover) I'm glad you did. From a very early age, I discovered I had a talent for writing and instead of engaging in self-harm, I vented everything I was going through in journals, recording both happy and sad things. Writing has always worked for me. Then again, when I was young, the internet wasn't even a thing. Sometimes I really feel that the Internet has become the greatest gift to humanity and also the greatest curse. But the Internet is like anything else: it's just a tool. But it's humans that must decide how best to use it. Machine Learning is also just another tool, but it shouldn't be a substitute for human oversight. And that's what many of these websites are lacking: AI's are great for search but humans should be mindful of what other humans make available on their websites. This is where sites like Amazon are failing users. Perhaps, I'm preaching to the choir on this. Again, thanks for this video. I'm always going to appreciate those folks who make others aware of the darkness that lurks on the Internet, even though it comes at great cost (maybe?) to the one presenting that awareness. As always, UEG: please continue to bringing light to the Web's darkest corners. It will always be appreciated and acknowledged. Thank you. ❤

I find it hard to blame amazon given their business model. Fact of the matter is two fold: 1: some people find it so hard to get the help they need mentally due to cost that they end up going this route because its cheap and easy and 2: For those with terminal illness or severe chronic pain, there is no easy way to do this via the medical system, at least here in the US. This is just a result of these facts and not necessarily purely nefarious. We need to be addressing those two points and it would make something like this no longer needed and thus not profitable.

I've watched a lot of your videos and many are very interesting and well thought out topics, but on this one I have to take a voice of dissent. This is the kind of over-the-edge thing in mainstream media that makes me want to inhale a deadly toxic carcinogen. It's becoming rife on YT with shock rhetoric and the goal of inciting emotionalism... with a sponsor's advert of course. I've listed just three main points.
ONE: The mainstream media CLAIM that this "compound x" is not a "household product" is rubbish. I use this evil compound x in my kitchen to make my own jerky and sausage! Yes. I eat it! In fact, I have many poisons. There are lots of things in nature that are poisonous. I also buy and safely store cyanide baits to control, moles, gopher and rat infestations, as well as dangerous biocide accelerators to manage animal waste (poop) for making organic compost for organic vegetables, not to mention my collection of firearms (for hunt'n squirrels n' such.) No. I'm not an off-grid weirdo... just a fun rural guy who loves the smell of horse shit in the morning.
TWO: Wonderfully Informative! Providing information on how to shed this mortal coil is nothing new! Long before this crazy outrageous thing called the internet existed, there were books published for decades on how to off oneself. In the 1990s, the biggest and most controversial book on NYT Best Seller was "Final Exit." These books were published after shock news stories emerged on the heels of the tragic Karen Ann Quinlan story and debate over the enormous controversy surrounding euthanasia and terrifying fear of being kept alive against one's own will. There were cries of bitter outrage on both sides of the debate as books found their way (purportedly) into the hands of those suffering from depression - though no one really knows the facts from the individuals in question since the court cases were from grieving loved ones and lawyers collecting their fees. Still, it didn't stop the media from making it national news for their sponsors and referring to euthanasia as "assisted suicide," because "assisted suicide" has a more shocking ring to it ... particularly that lovely ringing sound of marketing & advertising dollars.
THREE. Suicide Police! It's sad and tragic hearing of two teen deaths - no, ifs ands or buts. Makes me truly sad. Still, this is all very well-plowed ground of controversy, shock mongering and hate incitement if you check history and remove the emotionalism. Yet, we're off to the races without much rational examination, substantiated evidence or unblurry source materiel. (Sorry, I'm just not that trusting.) We live in a social media time of simply inserting emotional trigger words and all things magically become believable. In fact, I'll ignore the trigger words "teen" instead of saying "young adult" or referring to someone as having a "mental disorder" simply because they may have pondered something every human has at least thought about in some way or another - suicide. We seem unable to view it dispassionately and examine it without our preconceptions fogging any rational discourse. But I digress. Here's my point. Any time I hear of a young person going to great extent and research before taking their life (and maybe take a few others with them), I'm asking myself (in exasperation), "Where's the f*cking moronic parents in this story?!" No, I mean f*cking REALLY?! Teen years are brutal! Where are all the parents responsible for keeping a close eye on their children's well being and listening to how the wheels are turning in those youthfully confused and puzzled brains? I'll tell you - they're 21st century self-obsessed escape artists, breaking from reality whenever they can, eschewing all accountability and embracing the warmth of victimhood like a cuddle blanket with noses buried in their favorite social platforms, all while taking their beautiful and precious offspring - their miracles of life - completely for granted.
CONCLUSION: Blame Amazon! Those bastards! But please continue shipping my important poisons to the door - particularly those precious bottles keeping my dry bar well stocked! Yes! I also order my liquor from Amazon and god bless them and their poisons! Lest we forget, beloved Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a poison loved all over the world! So it's hereby officially established that we like and need our poisons! If not, why would we keep buying these poisons? Naturally, we must ingest and apply them responsibly (this msg brought to you by Anheuser-Busch incidentally). Yet it begs the question - would you blur out an image of Old Jack Daniels Black Label if the topic was teen alcohol poisonings? I'm guessing not. That particular poison is socially acceptable. Even after the CDC reports an average of 54 teen deaths to alcohol poisoning per year! See where this goes intellectually right? Nevertheless we debate the BIG question - should we damn Amazon and make big box stores like Home Depot police customers at the checkout as SUSPECT, all because they're standing in the checkout line carrying a rope, ladder, Jack Daniels and book entitled: "How to Tie Knots." ATTENTION! Security police at isle four immediately - we got a suicide risk!

I appreciate your nuance, as usual. This topic though... I live in the Netherlands where (contrary to popular belief) we do not have dispensers for shall we say exit pills? In the last several decades there's been fierce debate on the exit option, for those in unending suffering. However, while there is that option (only after several professionals have been heard) we actually do a lot to prevent the need for that. Even those on board (radically) with the option like Stichting de Einder do a lot of preventative work. Which includes stopping dangerous and often inaccurate recipes found online. Though I do feel that people in suffering deserve an option, no-one in their right mind would condone the recipes offered by quacks, sadists and other malefic actors. Given that they rarely work and/or cause excruciating pains, scarring and worse.
Except Amazon, apparently. Though things are regulated here, thankfully, I must urge those in the USA to rectify this atrocious corporate waffling. Regulate, enforce and punish Amazon or any similar company. But, and that's the damn big BUT: y'all should do more to take away the root causes of people wanting to take the exit option. Mental- and physical healthcare should be available at no or low cost to all. Religious oppression by the radical christians (and their charlatan leaders) should be terminated by law, as there is no freedom of religion without freedom from religion. And... try to be a bit nicer to people who struggle through life. Look to increase wages, improve communities and organisations... maybe take a few steps out of your comfort zone to think on if you are doing things in a way that'll make this world a bit better.

If not required by law, there's no way a business would deliberately support those costs because of a few edge cases that from a statistical stand point are irrelevant, regardless of how large their impact might be.

not that I am criticizing, at all, but I would say forward this to Project: Veritas, and let them run rampant with it. This would pretty much guarantee a dead stop to this particular point-of-sale being available.

As someone who lost a close family member to suicide, I thank you UEG, for speaking up about this problem! Between the time when people, because of severe depression, terminal illness or other possible triggers, first begin having suicidal thoughts, and the moment when they "firmly" decide they'll be taking their own life, usually they have spent a lot of time thinking about their decision, tormented, in self-doubt, re-evaluating their lives, but also planning how they would do it. If a suicidal person has in their possession the means to perform, what is considered an easy, quick or "painless" death (pills, firearms, exhaust fumes, etc.), they more often do it on impulse (usually after the next stressful event, depressing day, or argument they had) or with much less hesitation than the person that does not. Feeling pain and fear of death are not things we can simply switch off. A lot of the times, those that try to commit suicide in more complicated ways, aren't successful because of fear, their survival instinct kicking in, or because pain changes their mind. That time, before they make yet another suicide attempt, is often the last chance people around them will have to act, to try persuading them to seek and accept help, to show them they'll have support, that they are loved and will be missed, with the ultimate goal of saving their life! Finding out that there are people out there, greedy enough to literally sell a suicidal human being something that will make it easier for them to kill themselves, including "a spoonful of sugar" to stop the body from rejecting those chemicals, thus making their death even more certain, made me have even less faith in humanity than before! These are literal death dealers without any sense of remorse or guilt, as their only goal is to maximize their profit! Even though I understand that everyone is the master of their own destiny, I will never condone suicide! But preying on the suicidal for profit has to guarantee those death dealers their own circle in hell! Once again I thank you UEG for making this video, raising awareness that this death dealing business is also being done online, and hope that those with power to stop it will act and punish all involved!

I am sorry for your loss, I really am. However, all you manage to do through these words is invalidate the deliberations (and suffering) this person went through, and it invalidates their autonomy and freedom of choice. And why? Because you are uncomfortable around a concept that this person was more familiar and comfortable with. And guess what? Death is utterly inevitable for everyone.
"I understand that everyone is the master of their own destiny, I will never condone suicide!"
This is the exact same mentality and rethoric that anti-abortionists maintain. Even to the point of having a comparable outcome; when legally prohibited, people will seek out alternative, more harmful methods to achieve the exact same thing. And since it is so exceedingly similar, I can ask you the same as I ask those people; Why or how should your own personal convictions, limit the freedom and autonomy others have over their own life? What enables you to see yourself as that authority figure or mortal arbiter?

@@MrYelly If that is what you got from my comment you must be just a PC thug and a SJW wannabe! I am talking about some death dealer making it much easier for people to commit suicide! When a person is dead you can no longer try to better their mental health or help them go through their struggle with their problems, because you love them and don't want them dead! You just want to change the narrative saying I am the same as someone who is against abortions! Like suicide is a just personal choice similar to choosing what you like to wear! Most suicides are preventable deaths if provided with help! You just invalidated your first sentence where you say you are sorry for my loss. You are not sorry for anyone! So, please, go spread your political ideology on some other virtue signalling popular issue!

@@MrYelly if you were to Ask me that, id argue its because suicide isn't Just about the One doing It, since It harms all Those close to them, too.
Say someone's wife dies in a tragic accident, and the husband takes his own Life out of Grief. The family of the husband Is now in Grief too. Maybe someone Will do the same as he did (oversiplification, i know, but over time stuff like this does stack up and drag you down), and open something akin to a reverse cicle of violence.
Additionally, The reason many do or try to do It Is because they don't think anyone Will care, wich Is Just false, so they are doing It on false premises too.
There Is also the more moral/spiritual stance of It Not beeing up to us to decide when its time to go, but many people today are not particularly Religius OR Spiritual in general, so that argument Is very case-dependant.

@@inserisciunnome So you'd say life is to be lived, purely for the sake of others? I can't quite tell which is more selfish.
In the example of the wife and husband, and the context of children, then it would be the rational and responsible thing to carry on for them. Otherwise, without those direct responsibilities towards minors who are unable to take care of themselves, it's quite up to the metaphorical person in question.
And frankly, no one is really able to prevent that. We can judge and determine that it is a waste, a loss, but it stays still at those words. The person already decided, and we ought to accept that, or at least put it in the most humane perspective possible. And yes, that includes therapy, social network as support and even forms of rehabilitation in case of direct correlation to a certain happening or traumatic occurance.
The alternative methods however, that offer a possibility to be painless, instant, are immensely traumatizing for every person who witnesses the act, or the scene after.
It is not a matter of automatisation, or shoveling the shards under the carpet in secrecy, it is about reminding ourselves of the natural aspects of death.

I too am sorry for your loss, but you seem to be denying people the right to personal autonomy. By saying you don't 'condone' suicide you seem to be judging it as immoral in some way. Perhaps you are religious, idk but I don't think any of us has the right to stop another person ending their suffering if that's what they decide to do. It behoves all of us to realise that we all may have a breaking point and just because you haven't reached yours doesn't give you the right to judge a person who has.

job well done sir. and sadly, another point in choosing to target, or not target this suicide website/forum and "mark the ghost" is that they won't stop, and targeting them just drives them further underground where it's harder to monitor them. "mark the ghost" is a monster who will pay for his crimes in this life, or the next, but you made the right call here. a social crusade would be a temporary victory and a long term loss.

It absolutely is, but it's also largely unsuccessful and only serves to draw more attention to the thing you try to destroy, so not naming them is the better call for accomplishing your objectives anyway.

I honestly fail to see the problem 8 minutes in. Amazon has millions of users/sellers/products. Sure they should do something when aware, but you can't push intent onto an algorithm. No one at Amazon put those items together manually.
Edit: So a third party website pushed people onto those items, the algorithm recognized it and put them together. So it literally did what it was supposed to do. Where's the outrage? If anything you can point at the website promoting it.
Or at the law that needs to be changed so the product can't be sold easily. Which seems to the case everywhere else BUT the US.
I don't have a problem with the video itself, but the appeal and conclusions are just baffleing to me.
This is like those articles, saying self driving cars are racists for making choices on who to prioritize based on criteria given to the A.I.
No, the algorithm isn't evil. If anything this is negligence on Amazon. But that's also a bit of a stretch.

It disgusts me. Why are some humans less human? Why profit by harming others or assist them in harming themselfs? It is a crazy World.
