Hey, Roberto! Good to see you here! You and Sean are always one step ahead producing incredibly useful and enjoyable contents. Growing a UA-cam channel is really hard and time consuming but thank God I found the right channels to follow...and that is helping me a lot with my own channel.
As a UA-camr who is just starting out, I can't even tell you how valuable your videos are; pure gold. Thank you for serving the UA-camr community so generously.
I hate UA-cam's algorithm with a passion. It feels like they keep me in a box. I miss the old UA-cam where I can see a random video of a guy feeding wild turtles watermelon. I would have never known to search something like that on my own.
I know! That's what made YT fun!!! I like watching the less slick stuff and seeing real content that is not over produced.. otherwise, I would just watch television🤣 Sadly though, it seems the rough cut less produced vids never make it to our eyes.

the other day the algorithm recommended me a video from 2014 of a kid dancing to Michael Jackson's Billie Jean at his high school talent competition 😂 - it's unrelated to anything else I typically watch. Anyone else have these weird old videos pop up on their recommendeds?

I've been on UA-cam for awhile but I've been taking this seriously and implementing tips for the last 3 to 4 months now. Each month, my subscriber count has grown more than the previous month thanks to tips like these. Thanks for the awesome advice ... and I'm drinking a nice dark roast coffee.

I tried to make a "click-bait'y" thumbnail for one of my videos called "The REAL Reason Drummers Have A Lot Of Toms", and it worked! Not that it became viral, but since the content was aimed to drummers and they found it humorous - I got a high retention and click through rate. I've since grown my subscriber account with about 50+ 💪
Great video as always. But why doesn’t subscribers translate to views? This is the downside to the platform. I get a lot of viewers that have subscribed but do not see our content and said I have no idea why I don’t see your stuff. The platform needs to send videos to subs, search, recommend, and then external sources. Otherwise what is the point of subscribing?
Love Sean's energy when he's going through the video! I try to convey that on my channel, overall if someone has good energy when they are talking, explaining something etc etc that's a pretty big factor in deciding if I should subscribe or not.

Good info, as always! Trying to learn more about my target audience - My channel is a very narrow niche', this has been helpful in figuring out how to reach the them.
I have placed a lot of focus on video editing to make quality content. But that's just one aspect of the entire formula. There's marketing, SEO optimization, writing scripts for videos, etc., AND doing all of these different tasks independently. It's a fun challenge, but where I fall short is being able to churn out regular videos while working full time. Regardless of the challenges, I love making videos and I hope to grow from each one. Once I get a community, engagement should be fairly easy for me!
@@BuildOrBuy I appreciate the input! But what if my videos are over-ambitious? My last video took me a month to make because I took a video editing class for better understanding, had to scrub all of my clips for smooth transitions, and find images. What would you recommend?

Sean I love these longer workshops! I’ve been binging these because you’re not just giving the average “make good thumbnails” but you really get into the nitty gritty. I’ve watched some workshops multiple times over even though they’re an hour long. Keep them coming!!
Interesting video. I think I might rewatch it and so watch the search one as well. On my other channel I have a video that about 26 months old. It has 8600 views. It took about 6 or 7 months to hit 100 views. The channel had less than 70 subs so that didn't surprise me. One reason for that (that I now see) is that it gained traction when that product was in "season". It had a boost the second year as well that was much larger. 60.7% of the traffic is from youtube search 32.3% from external. 1.4% if my impressions is from youtube recommending the content with a 7.9% click-through rate. I have a newer video that hit 100 views in the first month. 28.8% is from youtube search. 30.5% from suggested videos. 78.5% of my impressions is from youtube recommendations, with a 2.9% click through rate. The second video really needs a thumbnail, that should improve the click through rate. I also think this video might see a boost in traffic in the spring because that would be the start of the season for that item. What are other people seeing for click-through rates and youtube recommendations %? One video from this channel has 80% remmeondation, 3.7% click-through.
OH!!! Put my hiking videos on in the background! That would be awesome to know you were watching them! Most of my content is hiking videos near where I just published one, van building into a camper because that's what I'm doing right now, and learning how to DYI by watching these videos and how to grow my channel which is how I found you. It gets specific on van building right down to the same van I have and what step I'm on at the moment.
It was eye opening to see that I there are so many way to study the competition and how to improve.. 2021 is so close and about to reach my channel goal.
thing is - if you make videos thatare exactly the same "quality" as 1 mil subscriber youtubers - you might get 20-40% view ratio - not cuz its bad - but because you are not famous
I watch a lot of videos on junk journals and paper crafting. Yes, initially I watched from the recommended videos in the sidebar. Now, I mostly look for my favorite channels and their new content. I rotate between several channels and watch several at a time for that creator.
Just getting started. Appreciate all the info. I've been using youtube the wrong way for years. Plus, I now have a new objective in helping people learn about our beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. Much better use than just trying to market yourself. I've had my channel for about 2 weeks. I'd say my average view count it's around 2-300 views per video. I make sure my tags are good, high quality thumb nails, share across multiple social media platforms and of anything I'm seeing growth dramatically slow from its initial creation... 😬

I watch a lot of videos on junk journals and paper crafting. Yes, initially I watched from the recommended videos in the sidebar. Now, I mostly look for my favorite channels and their new content. I rotate between several channels and watch several at a time for that creator.
Just getting started. Appreciate all the info. I've been using youtube the wrong way for years. Plus, I now have a new objective in helping people learn about our beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. Much better use than just trying to market yourself. I'd say my average view count it's around 2-300 views per video.
I make sure my tags are good, high quality thumb nails, share across multiple social media platforms and of anything I'm seeing growth dramatically slow from its initial creation...
