Glad to see you giving this game and developer some spotlight. The more people see this and buy it the more the dev can spend on help to fix the jank. This game has a very promising future.
Looks super interesting. I'll check back in on it this time next year. That's usually my go-to strategy when dealing with EA indie titles. If the bar hasn't really moved much in a year or two, then it's probably not going to ever reach a state that I could consider finished.
I bought it, haven't played it yet, but I think the thing that has stuck with me the most about this game is that, as a Star Citizen backer, I can forsee that if the lone developer of SpaceBorne 2 could simply borrow CIG's art teams for a couple months, this would be a better, if singleplayer, version of Star Citizen. That a lone individual has accomplished this much while a billion dollar company with over 300 developers has made a game with a third as many features and actually about the same amount of polish (better art, but the polish of SC isn't really better) speaks volumes about CIG. Of course, CIG's defenders - me among them, sometimes - will point out that 1) most of their devs are busy working on the singleplayer Squadron 42 and 2) that the PU is a multiplayer environment, which is waiting on a stack of underlying tech before it can grow outward. And those people aren't wrong, per se. That doesn't change the fact that the actual gameplay available in their 10 year half a billion dollar project is less than this indie title developed in less time by a single man. No matter how favorably you qualify it, this still looks bad for CIG.
Elite thrived for 10 years on people believing in it's potential, without delivering on most of it. So at this point I'm gonna wait and see if any game actually delivers before getting heavily invested in it. That said, for £16 this is worth a try.
i dont know man, i think it still did a helluva job. It might not have reached the potential that YOU thought it was supposed to reach, but a billion star systems, a perfectly working sandbox, and some good ol hard science, hey, at least it aint Star Citizen.. LOL
@@raidermaxx2324 Last sentence aside, you are right that Elite released as a full game and offer many people hundreds of hours of gameplay and delivered some satisfaction in that regard.
@@raidermaxx2324 not really. It released with a pretty enjoyable flight model and deep enough features to make learning to fly and the otherwise barebones game mechanics fun for a while. Oh and it was quite pretty. Past that everything it offered was samey, and required hard work from the imagination to fill the gaps. It's not things I envisioned either, it's stuff David Braben and FDev promised during and after the kickstarter that either never got delivered or arrived in a lackluster state, always hinting at enough potential to keep people believing, but never delivering wnough to be satisfying.
@raidermaxx2324 show me a game that does everything that Star Citizen does but better and then you can make stupid comments like that. It has its flaws, development time being the main one, but what it does is impressive as hell and I don't see any other games doing the same things. Name another game where I can spawn on a planet, meet up with my buddy, hop in his ship, and walk around inside it as he flies to another planet 50 million km away, all without load screens.
I dropped 70 hrs into it up to where the Dev has made it in the story. Conquered a bunch of systems and built about 8 stations. Rank 3 in all guilds except the one that wants you to destroy civilian ships. It's rough in some spots but it's in Alpha and it's nothing that broke my enjoyment of it. I like it more than Atomic Heart which I stopped playing as soon as I gave this game a whirl.
Ehh, yes and no. The game utilizes a lot of UE asset store materials, which significantly sped up development. But it's still a serious passion project by a single dev.
@@Wanelmask Because you see those exact same assets in a bunch of other games. A lot of people have found the same guns used in a bunch of other UE games; also you can see a lot of other assets for various outposts from the store, which can very much take you out of the game and remind you it's a one-man project. As I've said, it's impressive that one guy built it on top of his previous entry, but you can still the evidence of this being a solo project.
For a long time, I have been looking for a game just like this. Seriously, it almost feels like the game's vision is based on my dreams :) Thank you for making this video!
When it say that it's made by 1 devs to design and programmed the game, alone, I must say the devs still need to hired somebody for composing some great soundtrack, sound effect design and voice acting part then this game would be a high tier indie game on its own
Totally loving this game, has a ton of content and the Dev is very switched on. Has its "janky" things, but once you get your head around all the things you can do etc, its a very enjoyable game. Solo Dev too, doing what other major developers are trying to do. Highly recommended especially at the price point to get the game. Getting back into Cockpit mode hold C to drop back into inside cockpit view. Tap C to cycle 3rd person ship view.
Honestly every indie game made by a few people will be rough around the edges. Just the nature of ambition and manpower. But that’s why early access exists. And the developer is working with a consultant on cataloging/prioritizing bug fixes. I’m sure as more funds roll in he’ll be able to partner with more developers to fully flesh out the game’s systems and polish it to a high sheen.
More than anything it really brings a smile to my face because this is obviously a passion project. Something akin to My Summer Car. So for that alone I will buy it because I know no matter how janky, what's meant to be in the game will be on it!
This game has everything a space game could ever have. Yes, it needs polishing. Yes, it has some bugs. But this game has significantly more potential than any AAA game out there. It’s a clear passion project and I would love to believe that it’s going places.
saw this coming out so i got the first SB and had a blast with it, SB2 is a lot of fun. All the things you want to do in SC and a good game for while you wait for Starfield. The developer reacts to issue very quickly doing updates as quickly as he can. So worth the money, i never hold the right mouse button to auto follow during combat which makes combat slightly more challenging.
Elite could use this as a space legs reference for sure. Ships actually move faster too so that is also good and makes more sense. I'd love 3rd person ship view as an option for Elite planet explore I always have to shift to camera external with no ship control. Really a good example IRT of what can be done even on a budget.
Stumbled over this some weeks ago (even made a demo video playing this on Linux PC) so really happy to see it covered by you and absolutely on point here now.
They're probably using ready-made tools and processes and outsourcing aspects like graphics and sound. Usually it's just one person banging out gameworld code and scripts. Otherwise, yes, it would take forever to get it completed.
By the rate this madman has been dropping patches and hotfixes since 1.0 I can believe. Premade assets and AI voiceovers aside, the mechanics in this game are pretty off the charts for what it is. Ground combat needs work though.
I’ve been yearning for a space game, but it looked like just a space combat sim so I was skeptical but now that you review it and give me a trusted look into the game I’m gonna buy it when I get home!
It's funny how everyone describes SpaceBourne 2 as janky but this game does so many things right and has an enormous scale and is made by just one developer. It is not as janky as the king of jankiness Star Citizen.
Thank you 'Ant, for showcasing this. I have had my eye on it and will check it out. Sadly, I've long since laid the wreathe on the memorial stone of E:D. I need something like this.
Hold down C to get back to cockpit view. The game is full of little quirks, things that need polishing, and there are many things to learn. It is indeed buggy but the bugs usually aren't crazy or game-breaking. I think I've only had one crash to desktop. This is the sort of space game I've been wanting for a long time, it's part Elite Dangerous, part Star Citizen, part RPG, and part X4 Foundations. It's the only game I've been playing for 2.5 weeks now and I'm still discovering new game systems and things to do.
@@raidermaxx2324 You can play Star Citizen in its very unfinished state, and some of Spacebourne 2 reminds me of what we have in Star Citizen so far. But SB2 performance is a lot better and it's less buggy.
star citizen = Universe sized Turd / Spacebourne 2 = Diamond in the rough its quite an easy choice. what ever one can be taken offline has more value... online only games are nothing but big future failures, waiting for the same thing that happened to ED on console... abandonment........... yes offline games get the same treatment over the years.. BUT i can still play them to my hearts content
The game is an absolute blast. Trust me. Especially if you have been itching for a good space game. This is it. One guy made it and that blows my mind but bravo to him. Super excited for the future of this game and happy to support the dev.
Working on my first Unreal project right now... It´s almost ridiculous how (comparibly) simple things have gotten. Good times for small teams and solos for their entry into the industry
That shot of spacewalking: is that something you can do at any point in space or only near debris fields or bases or whatever is going on here near the end of the video? 🤔 That's one thing I liked about _X3, X4,_ etc is being able to pop out of the ship and astronaut around with a jetpack.
You can jump out at any point in space or flying over planets. There really isn't a lot of reasons to, but you can. Mining with a hand laser is one reason. There is also a hover bike to fly on planets, with random points of interest to discover. There only seem to be 4-5 types right now but it's still fun. Long distances in star systems are measured in AU. You normally spool up your warp drive, lock onto a planet/station/etc, and warp to your destination. But due to a bug and curiosity I discovered you can actually fly to a distant planet without warp as well. Took like an hour to go 4 AU or so. I doubt you can fly to other stars that way though even if you had the time.
@@raidermaxx2324 yeah, so far. For some reason those games crash a lot on my system so I haven't gotten into them too much yet. But it's a fuller experience being able to walk around and interact with the ship than _ahem,_ many games.
Setting the game up for joystick and G27 wheel for buttons, was an absolute 'mare, but I got it in the end. About 4 hours of work. That aside, enjoying the game so far.
@@eoconnor2000 I'm sorry, I don't, all of my efforts were just going through the same process until something stuck. I was finding other key bindings were failing too. You just have to keep trying it would seem. The mouse keeps overriding the controls but it seems to be the way the game works. I haven't played again since I set it up, I just hope it still works! Good luck.
I am seeing some asset flipping here. The rifle the PC has on their back in parts of the video, appears to be the plasma rifle from DOOM 2016. This puts me a little on edge, because while this game has appeared in my Steam recommendations, little things like that make me suspicious of it
@@average_ms-dos_enjoyer Actually, it's people who model "similar" items from other games and sell them on the asset store. And yes, the game uses A LOT of asset packs to flesh out its universe.
I only just recently found this game and started playing it. My main gripe was the controls, HOTAS or Controller, took ages and neither really worked well. But recent update, 2.1.0, has redone the HOTAS from scratch and improved the controller support (more to come later). Looking forward to another play of the game.
I would buy this a few years from now. Especially if you are giving a first person option being on foot. I do not mind mass effect over shoulder combat. But seeing the helmet telemetry through a combat visor displaying information would be kick.
As an EverSpace 2 and Elite dangerous fan, it's always great to see more games like this. I'll get it. I know it's a passion project, but it's in better shape than others I have seen... or a certain called Star Citizen.
CIG has still done more than any other game has ever accomplished. I don't understand the bad rep they get from literally treading ground no one else has i.e. PES
The best thing to compare this to myself is X4. However the ground combat, companions, and faction building are what drove me to this over X4. Definitely jank, but I think about 90% of my playtime is in early access games the last few years so I don't mind it one bit. Really promising within the first 3-4 hours so far. May have to stream some of it.
Holy moly, single developer all done by Burak Dabak! This is tremendous productivity. As a fellow programmer, my hat goes down in a nod to a master builder.
Have you guys heard of "Star Sector"? Its topdown, but really has a lot of features and a modding community that adds just more and more! Updates are somewhat rare.
Looks promising! I hope it get the development it deserves for this kind of product. Elite always come in my mind when I watch videos like this, how can they still not manage to get their game right? This one being early development seems like it has more content than years and years of Elite Dangerous...
yea i dont think so.. But honestly there is something to be said about a more polished and less "jank" game as well. I think both of them have their own niche puposes and dont need to be compared or competed against each other lol
I think some people get a little bit of their expectations misplaced by videos like this. I, too, was originally ready to throw money down on SpaceBourne 2 after watching a carefully edited but pretty cool video about it. It wasn't until I saw more long-play videos did I realize its faults and gameplay ceilings that aren't made as apparent in some of these showcase videos (and reasonably so, because these videos are showcasing the game not trying to dissuade people from trying it out). If the core concepts interest you it's definitely worth checking out, but I also noticed that many of the missions are very... samey, and the space combat feels basic. The ground combat also feels like a blocked out test build rather than actual enemy AI. Another thing is that the planet POIs are basically instances that you travel through portals to reach, as opposed to having No Man's Sky seamless transition. Again, it's not a bad game, but I think people need to temper expectations when going in. It would probably be best to watch some of the long play videos out there. While it's certainly more ambitious than Elite with its features, it's no where near as polished nor as (relatively) expansive when it comes to engrossing gameplay loops.
Honestly what I'm seeing is unbelievable. So much graphic detail. Actually kind of dig the auto-tracking because I loved Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. I've actually played Spacebourne 1 a bit and what disappointed me was that planets didn't really have names it was al AR-17 and names like that with some letters and digits. Likewise the characters looked samey, few had faces. This game promises thousands of solar systems so I fear it will have the same problem. Less would have been more. Don't really mind AI voices, understandable low budget choice for a solo dev. Enjoyable space combat should be the meat and potatoes. All in all this very much deserves a go and this guy Burak Dabak is a genius. Honestly I'm not able to find a solo dev that works with this much graphic splendor in such a vast world.
I spent a while watching a dude play this on Twitch the other day. He eventually rage quite because the gameplay was so incredibly repetitive. I think it's incredibly impressive though for a single dev. How they've managed to flesh out the art alone is mind blowing, let alone the features - I'll for sure be giving it a go. If they add VR to this I'll for sure be up for diving in. Does anyone know if the models are all made by the same dev or did they procure them elsewhere? Just curious how far "a single dev" is being stretched.
I personally love the AI voices, they give the interactions this feeling of communication over cb and short range radio, and also from a dev point of view allow the game dev to spend more time and money on others issues than voice acting, which as someone who played the first Spacebourne which didn't had ANY voice acting beyond few key lines, is a wonder and make the world feel far more alive.
I can tell you, AI TTS will be replaced later by real voice acting. He once mentioned that planets might be exchanged for "real" worlds (which means, no more conceiled loading screen upon entering the atmosphere. BUT that's not for sure at all.). Besides many bugs that will be fixed (and already have), there are coming some features that were always planned from the start and will improve the overall experience a lot. And by the end, when the game leaves EARLY ACCESS, it will be a lot less janky for sure. It actually is right now VERY enjoyable! Also there's a lot of potential for other things. I'm pretty sure that capital ships will find their way back into the game. In the very early Pre-alpha days the intro mission was going on inside a big cap ship that warped around the system, while you where fighting bad guys inside of it on foot. It has been removed story wise. But the thing is that the source level changes that he did to the Unreal Engine allow him to have ship interiors while the ships are moving, even warping around. And much more.. This game is already very surprising right now. The more you advance in the story, the more core features will be unlocked. Basically one by one. And towards the end of the story you end up with a big sandbox that can be played forever, if you like to. continue after endgame. Also I'm pretty sure that the sandbox mode will find back into the game, where you have all features right from the start. But please take all of this with a grain of salt. He might be changing plans. However, he's a great guy! Really! Very nice and polite and he's working literally his ass off to get this project done! It's a true passion project. And I think he can use some help, be it translations or whatever else there is. You can check the SB2 Discord to find out if you like. For me personally this game is something special! It unites many feature that I always wanted to see in a game, and eventually offers a very unique experience. And it helps me to come down and relax after coming back from sh*tty deployments. The game rewards for you keeping playing it - and really, the price right now in Early Access is just a joke! Go get it! ;)
Finally gave this a go after burning out on Starfield's walking/running. Really surprized at how much of what I wanted from Starfield is just there in Spacebourne 2. I'd be really interested to see a AAA studio hire this guy to make Spacebourne 3 as just a direct copy of Spacebourne 2 with AAA production value.
The first game was essentially left in an unfinished state but this appears to be rectified in the sequel with regular updates to the game. I'm kinda holding back on what I've had wishlisted since announcement though. Can't get over the Autopilot nature of combat and the NPC's stood like statues in the intro city. Kinda kills it for me from the offset. Will keep eye on it though hoping it improves.
Single person has done more then a large team making one game…. Shows just how far the market has gone down the crapper. The game has its bugs but its way more fleshed out then the current EA titles out right now.
What do you mean you can make a video game without having a pool, coffee machine, snack bar and Office Team night out - all on the expense of the paying customers? This is an outrage, don't they know how much it cost to make a video game? Shut this game down right now!
Been waiting for something to replace Elite on my ssd. This looks a great fit with awesome potential with regards the comment with all the game features below. No Man's Sky shot itself in the foot from the outset. Zero credibility forever in my books. Plus, it's even more a glaring moneygrab now... Considering you are playing E.A. and it seems so smooth, that's a future winner. I only ask the dev one thing : Enable the character to fire when flying between objects in space. That'd be cool. And some different personal armours down the line. An intricate character system. Good vid! Thanks!
Turning voice volume all the way down and treating it like an old rpg or Stalker style game definitely makes an improvement imo, but it can be easy to miss a radio transmission if you aren't paying attention.

LOL
@@raidermaxx2324 SC is already far beyond my expectations of Elite anymore, and that's where it's CURRENTLY at.
I like it more than Atomic Heart which I stopped playing as soon as I gave this game a whirl.
a sinlge guy, on his own got all this done.
sheer passion, will and talent.
Ehh, yes and no. The game utilizes a lot of UE asset store materials, which significantly sped up development. But it's still a serious passion project by a single dev.
@@billywashere6965 what's the problem with using store asset's exactly? Isee you bringing this a lot in this comments section
Seriously, it almost feels like the game's vision is based on my dreams :)
Thank you for making this video!
Would love an updated review of this game.
Thanks for your review and comments, ObsidianAnt!
Picked this up on the sale and it’s a really great game! Yes the jank is still there but very ambitious!
Very happy you've given this a try. Thank you for spreading the word!😃
What do you mean "while you wait"? Why wait for some expenseive AAA shit? Indie all the way.
Elite could use this as a space legs reference for sure. Ships actually move faster too so that is also good and makes more sense. I'd love 3rd person ship view as an option for Elite planet explore I always have to shift to camera external with no ship control. Really a good example IRT of what can be done even on a budget.
You actually can control your ship from external camera....
Stumbled over this some weeks ago (even made a demo video playing this on Linux PC) so really happy to see it covered by you and absolutely on point here now.
This sounds like a spiritual successor to Escape Velocity. I'm here for it
It doesn't have to be brilliant, it just has to be more fun than SC, which is not hard because SC is designed to be cumbersome instead of fun.
@obsidianant You cut short mid sentence right at the end.
Regardless - What a pearl you've pulled from the bottom of the indi pond, well done!
This developer really needs the love & support for this project.
Impressive work 💓💓💓
Did a single person really do all this? Would think it would take 10 years...
They're probably using ready-made tools and processes and outsourcing aspects like graphics and sound. Usually it's just one person banging out gameworld code and scripts. Otherwise, yes, it would take forever to get it completed.
Haha, I know what you are trying to say….
It would take 10 years if the developer develops various ship colors
it probably would if it was multiplayer
By the rate this madman has been dropping patches and hotfixes since 1.0 I can believe. Premade assets and AI voiceovers aside, the mechanics in this game are pretty off the charts for what it is. Ground combat needs work though.
I’ve been yearning for a space game, but it looked like just a space combat sim so I was skeptical but now that you review it and give me a trusted look into the game I’m gonna buy it when I get home!
I am a huge Freelancer, Galaxy on Fire fan. While waiting for Everspace 2 this will be a good play so already bought it. Thanks for reviewing it.
It's funny how everyone describes SpaceBourne 2 as janky but this game does so many things right and has an enormous scale and is made by just one developer. It is not as janky as the king of jankiness Star Citizen.
Auntie!! Thanks for the vid. Best of YT space videogames srsly
The fact that it's made by one person..... Blows my mind.
I've been watching a number of streams on twitch of this game. Looks pretty darn good!
Thank you 'Ant, for showcasing this. I have had my eye on it and will check it out. Sadly, I've long since laid the wreathe on the memorial stone of E:D. I need something like this.
Finding this video game was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise.
Brilliant. Looks like it's massively inspired by Freelancer, one of the best space based combat games every made.
I agree!
first thing i noticed was the Doom 2016 plasma rifle hmmmmmmm
5:30 re "transition screen" loading between atmosphere and space -- you may recall the same with EMPYRION: Galactic Survivor. :)
It's the only game I've been playing for 2.5 weeks now and I'm still discovering new game systems and things to do.
wait- part "Star Citizen" how do you know? that game aint out yet!
@@raidermaxx2324 You can play Star Citizen in its very unfinished state, and some of Spacebourne 2 reminds me of what we have in Star Citizen so far. But SB2 performance is a lot better and it's less buggy.
star citizen = Universe sized Turd / Spacebourne 2 = Diamond in the rough
its quite an easy choice. what ever one can be taken offline has more value... online only games are nothing but big future failures, waiting for the same thing that happened to ED on console... abandonment...........
yes offline games get the same treatment over the years.. BUT i can still play them to my hearts content
You do not have to use the pursuit mode. It is completely optional. Therefore, if you do not like it, just do not press and hold the mous button.
So it's still manageable to play without making use of that? Thank you. That's the info I was looking for :-)
It's clear that will need a lot of polishing but seems that the focus for now are mechanics and gameplay which I have to say are quite accomplished.
You had me at single player.
for a single dev...this looks amazing!
The game is an absolute blast. Trust me. Especially if you have been itching for a good space game. This is it. One guy made it and that blows my mind but bravo to him. Super excited for the future of this game and happy to support the dev.
Planetary landings are great. Shame frontier never finished the game
oh.. i played Elite dangerous, and the build i had you can totally land on a planet. When did you stop playing? 10 years ago?
@@raidermaxx2324 tell that to earth-likes.
@@raidermaxx2324 exaggerating much?
I doubt you can fly to other stars that way though even if you had the time.
damn.. just one thing in those games you liked lol. i knew there was a reason of each one of those super hard despite space sims being my jam
@@raidermaxx2324 yeah, so far. For some reason those games crash a lot on my system so I haven't gotten into them too much yet. But it's a fuller experience being able to walk around and interact with the ship than _ahem,_ many games.
Wish other games like elite and citzen had the same system
Whishlisted and ready to receive more videos from this game from you OA
3:56 Looks like kenshi within the city lol, I'm liking it!
It's amazing that a solo dev did all of that
I honestly don't care about the jank, it is an amazing experience
Setting the game up for joystick and G27 wheel for buttons, was an absolute 'mare, but I got it in the end. About 4 hours of work.
That aside, enjoying the game so far.
I have an X56 but cannot seem to get the settings to stick - any suggestions? This game is great with a HOTAS.
Good luck.
On the subject of recommendations, please try Empyrion.
Thanks Ob, bought it straight away :)
Even better to play than watch!
P.S. Hold C to go back to the cockpit camera.
I am seeing some asset flipping here. The rifle the PC has on their back in parts of the video, appears to be the plasma rifle from DOOM 2016. This puts me a little on edge, because while this game has appeared in my Steam recommendations, little things like that make me suspicious of it
Is it really asset "flipping" when something is stolen right out of another game?
@@average_ms-dos_enjoyer Actually, it's people who model "similar" items from other games and sell them on the asset store. And yes, the game uses A LOT of asset packs to flesh out its universe.
Just picked this game up... and its awesome... Planetside weather, terrain and atmo is awesome...
"We have Starfield at home"
Jokes aside, this looks super impressive!
I only just recently found this game and started playing it. My main gripe was the controls, HOTAS or Controller, took ages and neither really worked well. But recent update, 2.1.0, has redone the HOTAS from scratch and improved the controller support (more to come later). Looking forward to another play of the game.
Doing what star citizen failed to deliver? 😁
I would buy this a few years from now. Especially if you are giving a first person option being on foot. I do not mind mass effect over shoulder combat. But seeing the helmet telemetry through a combat visor displaying information would be kick.
Splattercat showed this a few weeks back, looks ambitious. Keep up the good work.
You're the first person I've seen who really shoots the same way I do
As an EverSpace 2 and Elite dangerous fan, it's always great to see more games like this. I'll get it. I know it's a passion project, but it's in better shape than others I have seen... or a certain called Star Citizen.
Meanwhile in CIG headquarters..... "Look at this new JPEG"
"We've re-encoded NPC interaction with bedsheets for a smoother animation!" (a paraphrased but very real update i read in one email from CIG lol)
CIG has still done more than any other game has ever accomplished. I don't understand the bad rep they get from literally treading ground no one else has i.e. PES
@@wompi. keep telling yourself that...

Chris Roberts saying "Scrap the current engine and build we need to rewrite this for MS-DOS"
This Dev should get a Team to help him make the game even better
Ty for showing this game, i love it and play alot.
His name is kind of star warsy lol
If only one person did this, imagine what they could do if they had 500 million.
400 mil just to rent servers lmao
Someone got tired of waiting for Star Citizen.
Elite Dangerous is much more polished and slick, but yeah I think Spacebourne 2 already has more gameplay than Elite.
Just curious how far "a single dev" is being stretched.
thanks for the heads up Obsidion antman
@ObsidianAnt - im not sure if you are aware that the video is cut-off at the end?
Great video and nice game! I will check it out, thanks!
Every description I find of this game gives me Freelancer 2 vibes. Definitely an X4 competitor, even if it's not as detailed in terms of simulation.
I really wish it had co-op, but I'm probably still going to get it regardless.
I only ask the dev one thing :
Enable the character to fire when flying between objects in space. That'd be cool. And some different personal armours down the line. An intricate character system.
Good vid! Thanks!
Would be awesome if they manage to add in multiplayer in future, even if limited number of players.
It's had a massive update recently... the intro to the game actually makes more sense... especially if you've played the first one...
Turning voice volume all the way down and treating it like an old rpg or Stalker style game definitely makes an improvement imo, but it can be easy to miss a radio transmission if you aren't paying attention.
It looks great! It's only 13 dollars on Steam right now, so i picked it up. Looking forward to playing it.
Definitely seems worth keeping an eye on!
