I gotta say I do like the new research system. Thematically the old system made sense as it would just be the AI core drawing in power to run its calculations and learn the new tech; in game terms though I found that it all too often caused wild power fluctuations in the ships grid and meant that some research projects could lead to massive power outages if you weren't careful. It seemed that some of the technologies took more power than what the rest of my ship was using, making it difficult to gauge just how many generators I'd need running at any given time. Having it be datoids that you produce seems to make the system a bit less of a headache.
Love your content my man! Please know this is a compliment. When you get youtuber brain, it's so funny. Building all the stuff for Colonel to regain sanity made me go 'Well, I guess Charlie missed the notification that Colonel is dead. Probably missed the one about Jinx dying too.' 🤣🤣 Still my favorite my guy!!
Lots of progress. I see this as a spiritual successor to rimworld in space. It'll be interesting to see how it develops and if you can keep the brainless idiots alive.
So, I don't know how the developer intends "datoid" to be pronounced either. It is hard to even find a good starting point since different people pronounce "data" differently. But, based on the fact that I pronounce "data" as "day-tuh", I would pronounce "datoid" as "day-toyed".
I spent 8 hours on a playthrough, and it's still kinda glitchy. I loved the gameplay, but I placed a loom, and was prompted saying the area was too cold. So I put a heater next to it. It still said it was too cold, so I ignored it. I started to expand and placed my newly unlocked second tier Oxygen Pump, and was prompted to beware of high heat because the oxygen pump could catch fire. Thinking to myself, well I don't have to worry about that because the loom area is too cold anyways. BAM and explosion of fire, my colonists try to put it out, they catch on fire and they run right into the main computer. I just watch as 8 hours of work goes down the drain because of a glitch with the heaters not registering
@@mrssmallhands7516 Surprisingly, the ship survived, but then I was trying to build a coffee machine for my favorite npc, and it exploded and killed him so I transfered his consciousness to a robot, and now I'm waiting for a pirate to transfer his consciousness back
Pretty much. There are many things Rimworld does differently here, and better in many cases, but this one has it's own set of unique elements that differentiate it and let it stand on its own well, IMO
Lots of people can die in the beginning. They don’t seem to have a strong regard for their own safety, and can just walk out into areas they are -300 degrees without a suit sometimes at the start.

Good to see this is being covered again. I agree it is honestly a different game now. He programs live for everyone who wants to watch.
All hail our great and smart leader the colonel... wait err ummm.. I mean, lets all take a moment to mourn the loss of the colonel ;)

Agreed!
I can't believe it's been 2 years since the last time you played. Looks like a lot of good progress has been made on development!
RIP Colonel. We hardly knew you lol
I was literally just thinking about this game. I'm pumped that you're playing it again.

This looks fun! Looking forward to more episodes.
"... apparently not a very successful one" made me chuckle
You got to the "all the body parts can be harvested" and immediately I thought of 40k and servitors.
The game looks really interesting, really eager for more in the series
Awesome i was just watching your old series hopeing you would do another play through 😁
The game has changed so much! ;)

This is fun and I'm looking forward to more. That said with two deaths and enemy human I'd probably restart. Lol

IVE WAITED SO LONG

10 hours into my playthrough I watched my ship burn because I placed a air vent and it short circuited on installation.

@@CharliePryor For sure. Just watched the first episode and instantly gave me rim world in space vibes. And that is not a bad thing =)
Both colonist died 51:17 and 54:10
