His attention to detail on both the voices and the mannerisms is second to none. His knack for spotting all the important irregularities of speech is second to none, and he really does a great job of tying it all into a stand-up set. Also, his John Madden is so good that I defy anyone to tell it apart from the real thing.
@arrowguy173 know David..Saw David recently.. at Channel Is Lands Harbor...Had his son Open for him...Son?..Needs work..David is GREAT!!!!...but not fast on his feet...Great work...But he's NOT a standup...ONE quip from an audience?. HE loses it...
The genius of Frank Caliendo isn't just how great his impressions are or even that the jokes are hilarious. It's the way he can seamlessly go from voice to voice, with the facial expressions included, and keep it all together
That, combined with Jon Stewart's assessment of "he looks like that kid in 8th grade who's doing a book report on a book he clearly hasn't read, but he doesn't give a shit cause he's just out there".
If you look up "knocking it out of the park," this is the definition. I've been watching impressionists for over 40 years, and Caliendo does what many others don't. He gives his voices good material. He does a funny President Bush without touching on any political stuff. But in this bit, it's the linking device of Madden and his illustrator that pulls it all together. Excellent.
@@itsnotatoober ya see, what he did there was he, he replied the way, the way John Madden would have, would have replied. So here’s a guy who who who makes a full-circle with his jokes. Which is a 360. That’s still a lotta math. Heh-heh.
The way he instinctively switches between characters is remarkable. And they really are more characters than impressions the way he's able to embody all the mannerisms and dialogue to go along with it. Supremely talented.
The Robin Williams part is amazing. One of the best parts of the entire thing is the facial expression he gets when he's starting that. It's so Robin Williams; it's unbelievable.
This guy is so talented and funny and smart. It is amazing that he’s not more famous than what he is truly amazing how this guy isn’t blowing up all over the place.
He wasn't more famous because he wasn't controversial. He didn't cheat on his wife, he didn't beat hit kids, he didn't cheat on his taxes, or yell woke BS. He was a normal good guy and the media can't make money off of someone like that.
I've seen Caliendo live and my buddy and I couldn't stop laughing. Our wives didn't get a lot of his impressions and/or jokes, but my buddy and I got them all. We were in stitches the whole night. He truly is the best impressionist I've ever seen or heard.
Completely agree. Even on his impressions where he comparatively doesn't get the voice down that well (the Norm Macdonald and Jeff Goldblum are ehh...), I still laugh out loud at the context of why he's bringing those people into the routine.
ohnoesknowsnonose Honestly, that was unintended and I feel like a bit of a heel because of it. I would never joke about someone's passing in that way. I was truly just commenting on how could Caliendo is.
A date and I saw Frank's show in a small comedy club in the early 2000s when he was first catching on. It was one of those clubs that don't even have much of a stage, the acts can and sometimes do just wander around among the tables and play off the audience. It was a very entertaining show. After the show as the crowd exited through the club lobby, Frank had a table set up to meet and greet and sell copies of his CD, autograph optional. He came across as very personable and down to earth. As my date and I were leaving a nearby restaurant, we were pulling out of the parking lot and saw Frank standing by himself on the street corner waiting for the light to change, apparently walking back to his hotel. It was hard to not root for him as his career really took off soon thereafter.
He's so funny. I caught his show about 10 yrs ago. I laughed so damn hard during the whole show. He really impersonates completely with his great expressions. He segues into the character so smoothly. It's amazing. I never laughed so hard and so long.
Such a legend. So often he didn't have to say which voice he was doing, you just knew. Did he improv the Letterman and Shaffer? He genuinely looks like he threw out the script for a minute and went with the flow.
This is an amazing set, just perfect. Never seen anything like this before. He picks all the down beats with bush or Madden, and turns them into ever increasing up beats.
It's the mannerisms that make the impression. Yes, he gets the voices spot on, but the body language he puts into each impression is what makes it so uncanny.
It's one thing to imitate Robin so perfectly both in voice and mannerisms....but the capture his manic delivery like this.....absolute god mode, Mr. C.
This guy is unbelievable!! :-D Seen him do some of the characters before, but never Robin Williams. I'm impressed... as I could actually picture Robin Williams stand there. His voice and body-language are just spot on! :-))
I loved the George Bush and the Robin Williams the very best. I’m not good with the sports figures so I’ll leave that to you guys. I watched Dave every single night. It took a while to get used of Stephen Colbert. I’ve secretly been in love with David Letterman for the last 40+ years… please, just keep that between you and me! 😂😂😂❤
I've received a lot of praise for my voice acting and impressions. but frank is something so different and so amazing that i dont have (and probably never will have) anything on him. his Seinfeld impressions make me cry with laughter if only at their quality
He actually can contort his face to look like the person he's portraying. He nails their mannerisms and then accentuates them just perfectly. What an amazing talent.
Even after all these years this is still one of the best stand up routines I’ve ever seen.
i thought u were dead...
X 2. Caliendo is brilliant.
It is so very strong.
His attention to detail on both the voices and the mannerisms is second to none. His knack for spotting all the important irregularities of speech is second to none, and he really does a great job of tying it all into a stand-up set.
Also, his John Madden is so good that I defy anyone to tell it apart from the real thing.
Don't get me wrong, Frank is incredible, and all these impressions were spot on. With the exception of Norm McDonald. I just didn't feel that one.
That Robin Williams impersonation was 110% correct, even with the pause and final punchline. Brilliant work!
I know, it was incredible.
He's doing an impression of a man doing impressions. That is skill.
He’s phenomenal. No one today is close. I could watch him for hours.

The genius of Frank Caliendo isn't just how great his impressions are or even that the jokes are hilarious. It's the way he can seamlessly go from voice to voice, with the facial expressions included, and keep it all together
+fundy023 It's all three of them, but yeah you touched on the signature mark of what makes a great impressionist
And he's always able to weave the jokes through them all and bring it back around with the callback to a previous, or the original joke.
His Bush never gets old, I could listenify to it all day!
His impression of Bubba C. is great too.
I agreefy
uh...huh...huh....you said Bush
You must hearificate it
That whole GW Bush "he always looks like someone told him a dirty joke that he cant say out loud" is SPOT ON with GW's face lol
That, combined with Jon Stewart's assessment of "he looks like that kid in 8th grade who's doing a book report on a book he clearly hasn't read, but he doesn't give a shit cause he's just out there".
The Robin Williams bit is pure GENIUS.
17 years later..I needed this! Thanks so much! 👍👍👌😂
I've been watching the same impressions from Frank for years. but they just never get old for some reason. Especially the Pres. Bush.

THIS IS PURE TALENT. His impressions are literally perfect in everyway. Dude's a genius. The Robin Williams blew my mind
+Sung Yul Taylor concur. I have under rated this guy for a long time.
You should check out his Morgan Freeman.
Agree 100%
He's really talented but don't discount how much much time and work it takes to get this good.

He is a gift with such a clean and pleasant personality.
Wow haha this beautifully said

I keep going back to this. I could watch a whole stand up of him doing Robin Williams.
I could too! I've never seen anyone impersonate Robin Williams that accurately. It's incredible.
"Thats alotta math" gets me everytime 😂
And holy hell, he straight up transforms into Robin Williams. 😮

THE BEST Robin Williams impression ever. If you close your eyes, it seriously just sounds like Robin Williams talking. It's just unbelievable!!
Totally, but he has the facial expressions down to a T as well!
The guys is just brilliant. Funniest impressionist out there. Watch these all the time. No one can touch him.
I’ enjoyed watching this
Especially his president Bush
He deserves much more fame. He is so good. Really knows how-to focus on eccentricities.
Mr. Caliendo is THE MOST spot on, talented impersonator to come along in a long, long time. Soo funny😅
This never gets old…what a talented guy!
This has to be one of the most talented people out there. It’s quite literally nearly unbelievable.
🤣🤣 his Robin Williams…

His bush impression is just gold!

When you make people laugh and take them outside themselves, it's a health to the bones and life to the soul.
Funny that before he uttered a word as Bush he got an ovation just for the facial expression
Best Robin Williams Impression to date !

frank caliendo is one of those guys that has a good ear and has a voice to back it up to bring it all together. unreal
This is the first time I’ve seen a GOOD robin Williams impression - the man was near impossible to impersonate correctly.
Jimmy Fallon did a phenomenal Robin Williams impression on SNL _Celebrity Jeopardy_ . Watch it.
