In this video, I discuss some very relevant reasons and considerations why you should wait on purchasing the Fuji X100v in 2023. What will the next version hold in terms of features and improvements? What is this madness with the prices on used Fuji X100V cameras? And what really determines your value as a photographer?

Hey everyone! I just sold my Fuji X100V. Was I wrong? Leave a comment and let me know. And, be sure to subscribe: bit.ly/subtoweskrieselphoto.
Always great content. Surprised you don't get more views mate. Love my XS-10 that I bought after watching you discuss it. Cheers
I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment! I love my X-S10! Definitely an underrated camera!
Hell, I want a second one. Been doing photography since the 80s have bought cameras since getting the 100v but by far it’s my favorite of the dozens I’ve owned. Even if it dies many years from now it will always be a display piece. But for a year now I use the 100v by far more than my other cameras.
That is awesome! Thank you for watching and for giving your input!
You are totally right that you should buy know your needs, but while it is a lot of mony the x100 were asking since the beggining.
But i think 90% of people not happy or claiming its to expensive dont know what they bought in to…
What camara offers you leafshutter on a aps-C sensor, water resistance,a solid 35mm, kind of f/2,build in pvf, flash and ND filter?
One should just be very clear what they need and buy into…of course there are many better options for professional work, but somebody who does not want a lineup of lenses have a eveyday carry arround camara witch top quallity, there is where it fits in.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment. I appreciate your input. I have used the X100V on a wedding shoot in black and white for "behind the scenes" photos and have actually used it on a couple of portrait shoots and music videos for behind the scene/candid-style photos and it worked very well! I loved the images. But overall, it didn't really make or break my client work. For me, it's a "nice to have."
Wes, I'm thinking of buying back into the Fuji system after having owned several models over the years but selling those off. I'd welcome your sense of how important Fuji's IBIS is for still photography use. I would like to be able to use some of Fuji's XF f1.4 and f2 primes as well as the 16-55. Are you finding the X-s10's IBIS to be pretty decent for still photo work? I'd like to start with one of Fuji's smaller and less expensive bodies, and like you i am fine with a PASM dial, hence my consideration of the X-S10. Thanks, Craig
I love the X-S10! Very capable. I don't tend to think of IBIS related to photography because I try to stay at a shutter speed that is twice my focal length to avoid blurry images from camera shake. You're probably familiar with this: shooting on a 50mm lens, if I keep shutter speed at 1/100 at the slowest, I should get sharp images. Then I just compensate with ISO if I need to lighten up the exposure. My favorite focal length is 35mm, so if I'm shooting slower than 1/60, I'll try to use a solid surface to brace the camera against (light pole or fence) or to set it on (table, wall). That's when I'm out doing street photography. If I'm shooting a "planned" shoot, I bring a tripod. I'm old school I guess? I act like IBIS isn't a factor, but in reality, it's helping a lot, particularly with longer and heavier lenses or if shooting one-handed (I often shoot one handed for off camera flash, with the trigger on the camera body and holding the flash in my left hand. )
@@WesKriesel Wes, thanks, that jives with my experience. Where i find i need it the most is doing street photography at night, hence my considering those big aperture primes in combo with a camera body that has IBIS. Craig
Agreed, work with what you have. I'll wait till X100v price drop

Thanks for the insight ... I really suspect the x-s line is replacing the x100 line in some aspects ... personally I want the versatility of the x-s20 and the xf 27mm WR as my everyday lens
I sold mine for the price of a new X-Pro3. 😮
And that’s what I replaced it with. An X-Pro3 in Dura black. I wanted to use my XF lenses and feel it’s a great companion to my X-H2S. The build is a step up from the X100V and the ergonomics are better. I also couldn’t stand the slow, noisy focus motor in the fixed lens.
No regrets!
Awesome, awesome, I keep hearing great things about the X-Pro3! Sounds like a solid decision on your part!
Oly om10, sony rx100 series, fuji xe series, panasonics. Bunch of great gear out there. And some for peanuts.
Yes, so true!
Wes, photography is ONLY ABOUT THE GEAR. That's it. HA! Just kidding - great video and advice for others, especially on using money for experiences and workshops - good stuff.
Thanks, Jerred!
If you use the 100 series for it's flash capability and leaf shutter/built in ND filter to allow flash sync up to 1/4000 sec etc its worth it for those capabilities alone. There isn't really another camera that does that. If you really have no need for that,, then yes, it's probably too much money to spend for features you won't use.
X-E3 is the answer if one is looking for almost compact size high-res street camera.
I had the X-E4 and loved it!
I would even consider the X-E2. Love the X-Trans II - switched my E2 out for a T1 (but still keeping my X100V 😉)
4 months later , do you miss it ?
No, I don’t. Got the X-H2s - and the X-S10 which is most likely what I grab for travel and street photo !
I’ve bought and sold the X100 many times before, it’s a trap. You’ll be back. Everyone comes back. I have my late dad’s original and I’ve sold photos taken with it. The newer iterations are nice to haves but rarely essential
You may be right. Not so far, though! I am happy using the X-S10 for my street photography.
You could argue buying it is a trap because you’ll end up selling it, since you move bought and sold many times!
@@stefan33uk I kept my V until the Vi. Been fine with both.
Had the x100f. It’s fun but image quality is lacking. They need to make it full frame
I sold a photo to McDonald’s for $2800 with the OG X100. Dollars to donuts it was not the IQ
common sense buy low sell high. and guaranteed new and improved model in the future

Someone is looking to start a war 😂
Just being me. And trying to get a handle on my gear acquisition syndrome! Lol
Weak points.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
I'll just sit my broke ass in the corner with my X-T1 lol
X-T1 is a great camera! I think it's sensor has a unique look. Keep shooting!
Yeah all I have is an XT1 and an X100V and I’m about to return the V. I just love the XT1 with 35mm f/1.4. It might be all I need!
First 😁
😁
Fuji is an orphan brand now. Not compatible with anything and now with the L mount giving pros a pathway for Lumix, the market will end up Nikon, Canon, Panasonic and Leica. And with the Fuji camera and film division in turmoil and leaderless, they will fade away.
Thanks for the laugh. Panasonic has 1 percent to Fujis 10
