Thank you for this. I sold my DSLR back in 2019 to further my career in designing. All the hype over the x100v wanted me to get back into photography. Little did I know they were extremely expensive and hard to come by (still are). Nice to know there's a similar and cheaper alternative.
I like my X-T30 II. But fell in love with my OM-5. It’s virtually the same size, but with IBIS and weather sealing. And the AF is great. Not sure if M43 cameras will ever get popular with the X-100V crowd, but the GX-85 and OM-5 are definitely sleepers.
OM-5 has been coming up a lot lately. I've really enjoyed Fuji but I love the versatility of the m43 system. How long have you been shooting with the OM-5? What are you shooting with it?
Two years ago I bought x100v for a few reasons already having MFT: size, hopefully better low light capabilities for indoors, and I expected Panasonic MFT cameras are dead except of huge video orientated GH series. So for me it was camera to complement G80 which is fun to use.
Facts! I walked into camera shop 6 months ago to buy a x100v, but when i looked at the xt30ii i saw it had almost exact same specs, more camera, and was fraction of the price. I went with xt30ii instead and been loving it. Realized i only wanted the x100v because everyone else wanted it 😂 the 27 pancake should be arriving any day now.
I am wanting to purchase an XT-30ii and it is 999 dollars with an included 15-45mm lens. Should I purchase just the body and then get a TTaertisam pancake lens? Which lens is better for portraits/street photography?
The x-t30 and 56 f1.2 is my favorite combo. Was looking to upgrade for a while, but honestly I just love this camera so much. I wish we could get those new film simulations, though. That would be sweeeeet.
I bought two X-T30ii bodies and a bunch of lenses late last year to get my photography business started. I plan on upgrading to the X-T5 for the better batteries and dual SD card slots but I’ve been really happy with their performance, not just for portrait sessions but for big events too!
I bought an X-T1 about a year ago. I was so blown away with the Fuji images. I then found a used X-T3 for a really good price, because the seller was looking to upgrade to an X-T5. I shoot both camears and love the images from both. The X-T3 also gives me the option to shoot great video. I love used Fuji gear. No new cameras for me.
@@idiotbrownie1525 First I bought the Fuji 35mm f1.4 for $300. After that, the seller offered the X-T3 and a Fuji 18-135 zoom for $800 ($500 for the camera and $300 for the lens). I have not found anything cheaper, I paid $350 for my X-T1 a few months before. Good luck with the search, there are some good deals out there sometimes.
@@Ken-pc4jj Man I saw a person selling a xt3 and xf 18-55mm for $700 but he was like 2 states away from me. I was begging him to ship it to me but he sold it to someone else... Tho i just bought a xt30 and xc 15-45mm lens for $485. I think that was a fairly good deal.
I agree 100%. I bought the XT-30 when it first came out (after 20yrs and a series of heavy and bulky Nikons) . The 27mm is on most of the time. For a travel lens I use the 16-80mm. My third lens is the Rokinon 12mm for astro shots. I live in Arizona and the night photography is great. I enjoy your channel.
i feel the exact same way about my xe4. i had an x100f for like 2 years and was never interested in upgrading to the x100v. then i used my friends xe4 for a day and my whole outlook changed. same sensor as the x100v, just with a lens mount and no flash or nd. the x100f up til that point was my favorite camera ever, and the xe4 has far exceeded that
Going pre-xt30, I picked up an xt-20 when it was brand new. Took that thing everywhere, and shot every video on my channel with it (check our the Vietnam video). The xt20 and xt30 are hands down more versatile cameras than the x-100 V. You're the only person I've come across that prefers the centred viewfinder over the range finder style. I feel like I have to use my left eye, range finders don't account for that.
I've been curious about photography for awhile, and I too saw all the aesthetic and stylish x100v stuff on Tiktok and Instagram which got me looking into Fujifilm cameras. I cannot afford the current prices for the x100v so it was never going to be an option, and after some researching I came to the X-T30 and purchased it on KEH. I'm seeing this video after the fact, so I am glad to feel further justified in my decision! It'll be my first real camera, unless you count the old Canon digital cameras we all had in college in the early 2000s. Thank you for the in-depth review!
I've only read the title and watched the first minute of the video, but it's so pointless to compare an interchangeable lens camera to a fixed lens camera. If you had compared the X100V to an X-T30 with a 27mm f/2.8 lens, say, bolted to the front, *then* it becomes a meaningful and interesting comparison.
It's a great comparison when the specs are nearly identical and the only difference is the interchangeable lens. With the pancake lens you have an x100v for much less and the option to change lenses if you want or keep the pancake "bolted on."
I had the x100v before it was hyped, but really didn't enjoy it sold it an bought the XT30ii.... I really enjoy it. I hope Fujifilm will release and XT50 although i am not sure what to expect in terms of sensor size (hope the same sensor as T4) with the latest image processor
Consider the XS20 or a used XS10. Both have great ergonomics and IBS. If you require video the XS20 is the choice and it also has the 5th gen processor.
I'd get the Pro2. Just because I love the form factor. Love the T30, but, I am so used to the Rangefinder form factor that I get more inspired by it...
Thanks for the video and the insight. My only thought about the x100 having just one lens is that is part of the point of that camera. The fact that you don't have options in focal lengths is part of the x100's appeal.
Had an XT 20 which I loved, then I bought the GR3 and XT4 … loved them both. Resisted the 100v hype as I just didn’t get it … that was until I tried one for a few days, sorry, but what a truly lovely camera … I bought mine RRP (UK) and have a small ‘man purse’ that I can carry the GR3 and 100v (that’s 28mm and 35mm covered) and they literally now come everywhere with me. As a result I’ve done more ‘Everyday’ photography since and my confidence and knowledge has increased threefold … which has to be a good thing eh? 😊
Spec’s they aren’t remotely close. XT30 lacks……… No leaf shutter, huge for flash photography on sunny days No weather resistants. Big deal in Florida during rainy season. Built in nd filter. Better implementation of the dials on the 100v. The equivalent 23mm lens is miles softer than the 100v.
I own the XT-20 and the Pro 2, but I use my XT-20 most of the time with the FujiFilm 27mm lens on it. My XT-20 is in silver, and I can’t tell you how many people have stopped me asking if it was a film camera. I have been a photographer since picking up photography while serving in the army, back in 1959. I bought the XT-20 from KEH a few years ago. Service was good and the warranty gave me enough time to make sure it was a good quality camera. The camera had never had its firmware updated so who ever had owned it before probably hadn’t used it much. On the other hand I use it almost daily.
I have an original silver 27mm f2.8 as a "body cap" for my (graphite) X-T30. I usually carry it in a padded fanny pack with the 18mm f2 and the XC 15-45. Those are 3 of Fujifilm's 4 smallest lenses, the other one being the XC 35mm f2.
I would say the XT30 is more versatile for sure, but for everyday and travel, I'm using the X100V hands down. The X100V is just simpler so you don't have to worry about bringing different lenses for different shots, you get a 35mm equivalent and that's it. I mean, I do have the TCL as well, but I don't bring that for everything. The X100V has everything else that you mentioned as well, the same sensor as the XPro 3, built in flash, the same video specs, and even a built-in ND filter that you can use for both photo and video. I use the ND filter every day I take the X100V with me. And I personally like the rangefinder style, and even love the fact that I can use the EVF or change it to an optical viewfinder. But again, if price was an issue, especially since the resale of the X100V has skyrocketed, the xT30 is a no brainer. I would even argue that the XE4 might even be the better buy.
I just upgraded my xt30 to a canon r6 mark ii. I have been wanting to sell my xt30 but I just cannot let it go. I think you’ve just made me find a new love for it 🥹
I actually just bought the X-T30 II about a month ago, and absolutely love it. It already has the same sensor as the X100V or the XE4 or even the XS10, but preferred this one because of the size, the integrated flash and I can change lenses
@@jbivphotography I think of it as I'm glad it didn't get as popular as the XE4 or the X100V otherwise it would also be super hard to get and prices would go up 😄
I have an XT30II, and I do love it, and still learning, but it was a gift. I wouldn't have bought it had I held it first because of the q button placement. a hotshoe thumb grip corrects that, but I do think that design is why this camera isn't as popular.
@@jimpeiffer8558 I'm not sure but I think there is a setting to delay the q button meu or it can also be disabled, I got used to holding the camera not to accidentally press it.
I own an ET30 and love it. As you suggest, I’m not willing to pay a premium on a used body or wait for months to purchase a new body. I think the XT30 body is superior to the X100S for hybrid photography. As you state, the XT30 is a mini XT3. There are so many video feature to choose from. Some people dig the fixed lens. Many will want the option to change lenses. It all comes down to what you want. I choose not to upgrade bodies to the XT30ii. The improvements are incremental. If buying new I don’t think I’d pay extra for that body. It all comes down to your needs and how much you are willing to spend. For me, the XT30 is the right choice. Mask On Nurse Marty
I'm a Sony shooter, but the Fuji hype is getting to me. Great video. I was leaning towards the x-t30, and now more so. My daily is a rx100vi, but I'm looking for a more tactile experience.
I chose the X-T20 because of the lens options. The ability to swap lenses means I can shoot at different focal lengths and not be constrained to a 35mm field of view.
I bought an XT 30 II a while ago, and it took about two months to arrive. I got so desperate that I went to KEH and bought the X-E3 in excellent condition. I have to say I was surprised by its size but loved it. That was my first digital camera. I learned photography in the '70s; yes, I am an old fart (63). All my life, I have used film cameras, Mamiya, Canon, and my most loved treasure, a pair of Yashica 124s. My XT 30 II finally arrived, and a side-by-side comparison, they are almost the same size. Wow. I have to say that I am still learning how to use them. I am a manual kind of guy; old habits are hard to break, and this old dog cannot learn new tricks 😂😂😂 Stay safe 🙏
Did you ever try the XT20? I prefer the sensor and image quality over the one in my XT3 (and I presume XT30). Seems more contrasty and punchy to me, less washed out. Plus it has a beeeeeeautiful clicky, super useful d-pad and the shutter sounds like a dream. AF is still perfectly usable. I only really reach for my XT3 if I need better af-c... I'm with you on wanting to give that 18f2 a spin. Some magic in those old lenses. The xf60 is much maligned and def worth having a peek at...
Tell me about it. I much prefer the 35mm f1.4. And the 18mm equivalent on my phone I’m so damned used to after using it for the best part of a decade! Sadly manufacturers think there’s no market for a fixed 50mm equivalent lens camera
hmmm, nah. form, viewfinder, ND, leaf shutter and the built in 35mm f2 still holds me down. When I bought the X100v on release everyone talked so much crap about how it was overpriced for what it was. most of these ppl are looking for one now and some of them are even buying that over priced Leica Q (i like it, but 6k? nah)
Having had an X100v, which I didn't overly enjoy using, I sold it and use an XE4 (which is even smaller than the XT30) with the 27mm pancake lens. I love the position of the EVF on rangefinder style cameras . Unfortunately the XE4 is now discontinued, I got mine just in time.
I don't have an XT 30 I have the XT 20 which I purchased used at KEH. I also have the x100F which I've never used since I bought the XT 20. I took the XT 20 with the 18-55 to Portugal, really struggled between that set up and my XT3 with the 16-55 but I'm glad I settled on the smaller camera and lens. I recently purchased the XT5 so I shoot a lot with it but that XT20 usually isn't far away.
For the current prices, I get it, but I like the rangefinder style, I love having an optical viewfinder. And to have a leafshutter combined with an internal flash is one of the great advantages of the X100V. Did I mention the inbuilt ND-filter and water resistance? And who wants a PASM dial on a Fuji?😎
X-T 30 for me I love the camera it works for me I'm not a pro photographer now its just for my own pleasure and work and I'm happy with it the sensor is first class its small easy to carry.......
My main cameras are the XH2 and GFX 50s II. The XT3 as been relegated to my daily driver. If it wasn’t, I would of definitely consider the XT30 as the daily driver.
Went from a x100v to a R6 so I could dual camera with my R5 (to replace my 5D mark 4). It was a nice little camera, but I could not use it for work sadly.
I am wanting to purchase an XT-30ii and it is 999 dollars with an included 15-45mm lens. Should I purchase just the body and then get a TTaertisam pancake lens? Which lens is better for portraits/street photography?
A ton of the hype for the X100V comes from TikTok influencers...the majority of whom have probably forgotten about it LOL. Both cameras are wonderful, but I've had the X100S before and wanted that experience again. It just has a dash of extra magic. Can't go wrong with either one, as long as you go in knowing the advantages and limitations of both.
There are only three photographic reasons to want an X100 series camera over an X-T10/20/30 or X-E3/4:- 1. You want or need to use the OVF 2. You want or need to use flash with high shutter speeds 3. You only want to ever shoot the 35mm FOV in a compact form and are not bothered about not being able to change your lens If you are not going to use these features, for taking pictures the X-T10 etc and X-E3/4 are way more sensible purchases. If of course you just want to look cool and follow the latest fad and don't mind paying a premium go ahead and buy an X100 camera. Personally I own a X100T (I prefer the output from the older sensor) which I use on occasions for reasons 1 and 2 above, and just for a change now and again. Overwhelmingly though my X-T1 and X-T0 see far more use. The X-T1 with all manner of different lenses and the X-T10 usually with the 27mm f2.8. Booray Perry put it very well using a Jeep (Wrangler, I think the model was) as an analogy. Why buy a 4X4 if you never take it off road?
Yeah I have an XT1 but recently bought a mint X100V second hand from a camera store now they are available. I think I’m going to return it tomorrow. I loved the X100S and T when I had them but I think my tastes have changed. As you say the X trans II has a nicer rendering. The V has a clinical look to the images - this was somewhat the case with the earlier X100 cameras but not so much as with the V. I do like the sharpness though. I may stick with my trusty XT1 and 35mm f/1.4 - a combination that is just… chef’s kiss! I also never fully warmed to the 23mm focal length. Nice for people shots if you get close enough, I liked it for night photography, but for a lot of other stuff I walked away frustrated.
That is a great feedback for smo who is just learning about cameras and wanting to buy one. I want to ask do all these Fujifilms have the same film simulations/filters?
@@serenayben9660 The newer cameras have more film simulations, but the originals contain all the ones you really need IMO - B&W with various filters, classic chrome and Soft/Astia. The newer the model the better it will be for video if you are interested in that at all.
I’m late but curious. I don’t want a full system and more GAS, had that with Nikon years ago. Now would consider getting back to more serious than just iPhone photography. What made me interested in x100v was useable images straight out of camera (good filters), wifi connectivity, built in nd filter, decent lens, small form factor. Want a fast lens but not one that’s twice the size of the camera. So a good fast pancake but for a budget as well. So how does the t30 compare on that front?
I sold my old a7iii for an xt30 2 years ago and I really am so happy that I did. I’m now considering trading in for the xs20 since in body 10 bit recordings beat adding a ninja v to my xt30
The ability to have interchangeable lenses is a big bonus for flexibility to get closer to your subjects on vacation especially in mountainous areas. However the prime lens in the X100V is much better than the Fuji prime lenses you mentioned. When you buy a range finder type camera the glass is everything. One of the main reasons Leica photos look so good. The T3, T30ll all are great values especially these days when you see X100V prices hovering above $1700.
This is a great camera. I purchased one during the pandemic 4 years ago on the advice of a friend. Because of its size, it’s a great EDC. Sorry Fuji seems to have stopped the X-T30 at ii version and seems to prefer the X-S10/20 line with IBIS. I will hang onto the one I have.😊
XE4 has entered the chat. If you can find one. Granted you trade smaller size for no grip, if you add the grip it adds height bringing it closer to the 30's height with the evf. I've owned the X100 a few times and each time I sway back to an XE w/18mm. A lot of this comes down to a SLR/rangefinder preference. I really wish they'd make a new version of the 18mm though, hopefully slightly smaller but definitely better AF. It's odd to me they've made a V2 of the 28mm but left the older 18mm alone for all these years.
Hello tehere...thanks for the video....one question...the X100T is a bit slow to be ready, I mean, once you turn it on, lift it up and aim, sometimes it;s not ready to shoot like my Nikon DSLR's, is the XT30 better at that, is it fast? I mean, once you turn it on, is it instantly ready to shoot like a DSLR ? Please, let me know, thanks in advance.
I love my Xt30 - use it with 16mm 2.8 and 35mm 2.0. - great story telling. Both lenses are sharp . - usually shoot. - 1/3 or -2/3 then raise the midtones around my subjects. This protects highlights / and this back-lit sensor recovers shadows pretty good 👍
Give me a suggestion please. I can't decide betwwn xt30ii and xt3 ( nowadays it's possibile to find them more or less at the same price on the second hand market). I make street and portrait photography. Which one do you suggest and why? Thanks in advance
I have the X-E4. I like the rangefinder style. If I hadn't been able to get one just over year ago I'd have happily bought an X-T30 (or 30 II). It is a bit horses for courses really. I also have a Sony A7R IV and X-T 5. The 5 gets carried up hills / mountains. The IV has big glass so that is for more static work (age is a sod). The small Fujis like the X-T30 and X-E4 are under appreciated power houses capable of brilliant results.
hi john can u help me, I can't decide if I should buy the xt30 ii or the xe4. I do mostly, concerts photos and landscapes. Can you tell me the differences between these 2? tx
Hi Thanks for the video, I think I may go for one of these when they become available again. If you didn't already have your camera, would you go for the XT30 or XT30ii ? Thanks.
XT-30 I and II are great cameras but I would never, never take them as backup or main camera for a wedding or anything else paid. The reason is single card slot. I had twice in my career card failure (once it was SanDisk Extreme PRO and the second was Lexar - I don't remember series here). I was on the safe side, as one it was in Nikon D810, and second time was in Sony A73. In both I had set saving RAWs to both cards. Double card slot is a must for me for a job. So as personal private daily, sure, why not. But as something that my clients rely on - hell no.
Well I hate the handling of my x-t10. The x-t30 does have more freedom with button mainly iso on back wheel. The next camera will be a compact rangefinder with ibis.
I had the Nikon ZFC, it's an amazing camera, but there's something about the XT-30 that really invites me to buy it. My hesitation is that it's been a while and I wanted to have a little bit of future proofing. I'm glad I found the XT-30ii and I bought it just 2 days ago. I can't tell you how I'm in love with the camera and shooting with it has been so much fun! The photos are amazing!
Hello Anthony, I am between Nikon ZFC and XT-30ii as well! Could you describe which is the better camera? Which one do you enjoy more? How about handling and the quality of the photos? Thank you!
@@georgiosioannou7240 i sold my Nikon Zfc. It was a really great camera! And loved its lowlight performance. But i had to use the camera that I love more and enjoy using. I loved Fuji’s film simulation, loved that it’s small yet well built. And i just love its colors out of camera. I usually spend more time on lightroom with my Nikon shots. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very sharp and the dynamic range is really good. I think it’s just with my preference.
Hello my friend wanted to get your thoughts or recommendation. I currently have the Panasonic FZ300, which I am looking to upgrade. I am looking for something under $1,000 (hopefully). I would be willing to give up half or even go down to 200mm zoom if needed and takes great video and pictures. I was looking at the FZ2500 which has a bigger sensor but was wondering what your thoughts were and if you had 3 cameras you could recommend. Basically a great all around point and shoot, cannot be removable lens. Thank yo ahead of time my friend.
Built in ND filter and a that prime fixed lens(33/35mm)...the only thing that is sad about Fuji x100v is that it doesn't have ibis ...but you have ois ...togheter with Leica q3 they closed the point and shoot camera market ...😂
My first Fuji (and actually any camera) was the XT30ii. I sold it when I bought the XT5 but shortly after also bought the X100V as a daily carry. Still at just 200 clicks on the 100V but wondering why I sold my XT30ii. 😅 Thankfully I bought the 100V at retail price and not the crazy used market prices.
It's put me in such a weird spot. As hobbyist, I'm mostly capturing family moments, so i don't need the latest and greatest. Which puts me at either an X-T3 or the X-T30ii. They're both similar in price on the used market, with the defining features being either the better tilt screen and evf on the x-t3, or the smaller form factor/buttons and flash on the x-t30. It's a tough choice
Oh yeah it really is a tough choice. If you’re looking for a more full featured camera I would say go with the X-T3. But I really love my X-T30 for just an every day cary.
The issue with all these comparison videos is, that I have yet to see the person doing these while actually having owned both to make an objective comparison. Both camera's images DO DIFFER BY A LOT! Why? Because first - the lens on the X100V is is unique in optical design, because the rear element of the lens is closer to the sensor than on any interchangable lens Fuji, therefor generates a war "3 dimensional look" to the subjects. Second - while they are internally the same on paper, they are NOT the same in reality! Fuji claims the ProNeg film sim uses too much computing power to be featured in the X-Trans 4 sensor generation, but the X100v DOES have it and it somehow works and it looks just AMAZING! Not even later XT-30ii has the ProNeg film sim. Third - the XT-30 and XT-30ii produce a much more punchy and contrasty image with the exact same settings and film recipes, when everything on the X100V is more "subdued" but in the most pleasant ways. But this proves that internal processing just has to be different. Both are great cameras, but I feel like all these videos are a compensational measure because you couldn't get your hands on an actual X100V.
Thank you for this. I sold my DSLR back in 2019 to further my career in designing. All the hype over the x100v wanted me to get back into photography. Little did I know they were extremely expensive and hard to come by (still are). Nice to know there's a similar and cheaper alternative.

i feel the exact same way about my xe4. i had an x100f for like 2 years and was never interested in upgrading to the x100v. then i used my friends xe4 for a day and my whole outlook changed. same sensor as the x100v, just with a lens mount and no flash or nd. the x100f up til that point was my favorite camera ever, and the xe4 has far exceeded that
Going pre-xt30, I picked up an xt-20 when it was brand new.
Hey! I think I’m in the same boat as you were. Any regrets for getting the X-t30? Anything you’d do differently? What lens(es) did you buy?
I did exactly the same thing. Never looked back.
Just get a pancake lens for the X-T30 and then you have the option to switch it out down the line if you want to.
i upgraded from x-t20 to the x-t30. never regretted it.
just now envious of the great AF in the new models like x-t5 and x-s20...
Agreed. Looking at the specs of the X-S20 was tempting. But I still love my little X-T30
@@jbivphotography surely Fuji will surprise use with an X-T40 (X-T50?) in the future
Spec’s they aren’t remotely close. XT30 lacks………
No leaf shutter, huge for flash photography on sunny days
No weather resistants.
On the other hand I use it almost daily.
thank you... I sold my x100v a year ago...the right decision i made, since planning to do more UA-cam video.
I have an original silver 27mm f2.8 as a "body cap" for my (graphite) X-T30. I usually carry it in a padded fanny pack with the 18mm f2 and the XC 15-45. Those are 3 of Fujifilm's 4 smallest lenses, the other one being the XC 35mm f2.
it’s crazy how underrated the x-t30 has become! even compared to the x-e4, which i would also recommend it over 👀
I really don't understand why it gets slept on so much. it's an amazing camera.
I would even argue that the XE4 might even be the better buy.
true
I just upgraded my xt30 to a canon r6 mark ii. I have been wanting to sell my xt30 but I just cannot let it go. I think you’ve just made me find a new love for it 🥹
I actually just bought the X-T30 II about a month ago, and absolutely love it. It already has the same sensor as the X100V or the XE4 or even the XS10, but preferred this one because of the size, the integrated flash and I can change lenses
Exactly. I really think it's an amazing choice and I feel like no one talks about it. I'm curious why it didn't get as popular as it should have.
I'm about to get one of these.. I sold my X-E3 to help fund an X-T5 (which is FANTASTIC) but I miss a daily carry around camera
Great video! I chose the X-E4 over the X100V for the same reasons.
I chose the X-T20 because of the lens options. The ability to swap lenses means I can shoot at different focal lengths and not be constrained to a 35mm field of view.
Exactly. I love the double digit X series. I hope they don’t get rid of them.
I have a x100 series camera it's great for documenting life but sometimes it would be great to have the option to change lenses
Yeah that’s why I love the X-T30. Whenever I want to use it more seriously I can just pop on something like the 50 f1 and get amazing results.
@@jbivphotography given the size of the 50mm f/1.0 though... that's quite extreme 🤣 but i bet the results are amazing!
KEH also sells the x100v for over retail
Did you ever try the XT20? I prefer the sensor and image quality over the one in my XT3 (and I presume XT30). Seems more contrasty and punchy to me, less washed out. Plus it has a beeeeeeautiful clicky, super useful d-pad and the shutter sounds like a dream. AF is still perfectly usable. I only really reach for my XT3 if I need better af-c...
I'm with you on wanting to give that 18f2 a spin. Some magic in those old lenses. The xf60 is much maligned and def worth having a peek at...
I prefer 18 and 35mm on Fujifilm sold my 23mmf2. I'd love to live the x100v but it has the wrong focal lenght
Tell me about it. I much prefer the 35mm f1.4. And the 18mm equivalent on my phone I’m so damned used to after using it for the best part of a decade! Sadly manufacturers think there’s no market for a fixed 50mm equivalent lens camera
The XT30 is my favorite camera of all time ❤
hmmm, nah. form, viewfinder, ND, leaf shutter and the built in 35mm f2 still holds me down.
I'm also thinking about getting an XT30 to back up my XH2S.
Totally. The thing I like more about the X-T30 is mainly the size. I still have a X-T3 as well but currently it’s just a webcam.
Went from a x100v to a R6 so I could dual camera with my R5 (to replace my 5D mark 4). It was a nice little camera, but I could not use it for work sadly.
love this video. xt30 gang! upgraded from the canon 6d mark 1 to the xt30 this past spring & i'm the happiest bloke in the world still
It's such an amazing little camera. Totally overlooked.
It’s because you love the built in ND filter and super sync leaf shutter.
There are only three photographic reasons to want an X100 series camera over an X-T10/20/30 or X-E3/4:-
1. You want or need to use the OVF
2. You want or need to use flash with high shutter speeds
3. You only want to ever shoot the 35mm FOV in a compact form and are not bothered about not being able to change your lens
If you are not going to use these features, for taking pictures the X-T10 etc and X-E3/4 are way more sensible purchases.
Great list. Thanks for sharing.
That X-S20 is looking pretty amazing. I actually recorded this video like a day before the announcement. 😅
@@jbivphotography fuji really has us by the throats with that release lol
The ability to have interchangeable lenses is a big bonus for flexibility to get closer to your subjects on vacation especially in mountainous areas. However the prime lens in the X100V is much better than the Fuji prime lenses you mentioned. When you buy a range finder type camera the glass is everything. One of the main reasons Leica photos look so good. The T3, T30ll all are great values especially these days when you see X100V prices hovering above $1700.
I shoot with the X-T3 which i love and i also put the 27mm pancake lens on it which is great for street photography.
X-T3 is such an amazing camera. Still one of my favorites.
This is a great camera. I purchased one during the pandemic 4 years ago on the advice of a friend. Because of its size, it’s a great EDC. Sorry Fuji seems to have stopped the X-T30 at ii version and seems to prefer the X-S10/20 line with IBIS. I will hang onto the one I have.😊
John thanks you have helped make my mind up about buying the x -T30 . Great review . Thanks
Yeh I did a video about this camera, I too think it is incredible value. It's the backup to my XH2S for events and weddings.
Exactly. The perfect little power house.
The 27mm is the most underrated lens fuji has. I barely remove it from my x-t2
Love my XT30 ii. Thinking about getting the 27MM pancake lense as well.
It's really nice. Not the best for autofocusing video I'm finding but for just a lens to take snaps with. It's amazing.
@@jbivphotography I recently went to South Korea and got a lot of amazing images with the 35MM 1.4.
I love my Xt30 - use it with 16mm 2.8 and 35mm 2.0. - great story telling. Both lenses are sharp . - usually shoot. - 1/3 or -2/3 then raise the midtones around my subjects. This protects highlights / and this back-lit sensor recovers shadows pretty good 👍
try tu use fuji DR instead of underexpose :)
Give me a suggestion please. I can't decide betwwn xt30ii and xt3 ( nowadays it's possibile to find them more or less at the same price on the second hand market). I make street and portrait photography. Which one do you suggest and why? Thanks in advance
I started my professional career on the xt30 and still use it as my second cam on every shoot
X100V brought my attention to fujifilm
Then looking I was confused why there’s so much hype around it
Picked up XT30ii it’s been amazing
That's awesome to hear. Fujifilm really is slept on. I wish more people took it seriously.
I love XE4 more, I also have XT30 too
hi john can u help me, I can't decide if I should buy the xt30 ii or the xe4. I do mostly, concerts photos and landscapes. Can you tell me the differences between these 2? tx
XT30 made my career in 2020
It’s such an amazing camera.
What’s the difference between the stock lens versus the XF 27? Why do you prefer the 27?
What you said but with the XE4
It would have been nice is the mkii xt30 would have had the 3 way tilt screen
Love my xt5. But I’m also looking at an xt30 or xt10 for a daily carry
IMO the X-T30 is hands down the best daily carry.
The x-t20 is another option if you're looking for something even cheaper than the 30 if you can find it on the used market at a good price
Hi Thanks for the video, I think I may go for one of these when they become available again. If you didn't already have your camera, would you go for the XT30 or XT30ii ? Thanks.
Hi, may I ask what lens should I get for the xt30 if I want to do portrait? My budget is under $300. Thanks John.
I got my XT30 II since this sommer and i love it.
The XT30 was my money maker. I loved it. I have to purchase another one.
I don’t get the hype. The X100V is a great camera, but come on. The hipsters need to relax 😂
Yeah, I have the x100v, but tbh I use my X-S10 and even my x-e3 more.
Hey, it looks really great, plus your images are great ! Thks
Hey, thanks!
This is the video I needed! Thanks bro! 🙏
You're welcome!
You say you like the image quality of the X-T30. How does it compare to the image quality of the X100V?
What lens do you use? I like it because it’s so small and light
Do you recommend xt30ii over x100v?
I second the above question
Isn’t the xt5 compact enough to use daily? Why you need a smaller one to go with it?
Thanks! Great review
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Xt30ii or xs20 for family? With the xf27mm ?
Personally for me I would say X-T30ii. The X-S20 is cool but I prefer a more retro styled camera.
Can you use recipes like the X100v? would be great
You can. You actually can on all Fujifilm cameras. That’s why I love them so much.
Please suggest third-party lens performance like fujinon for xt-30. ❤
John out of interest now you have the x-t5 are you still using the GFX as much ?
im not familiar with fuji, but should i sell my sony6100 and get a fujixt30?
No. If you don't know why you want a Fuji, why swap?
I had an X100f with tons of sensor spots and no way to clean it!
Oh NO! I never thought about that.
Hi ! What lens are you using in this image at 0:36 ?
