i struggled with that stiff hose first time,it has to take the heat,from the exhaust,and cylinder, thats why its so hard,i tried boiling water ,even the microwave, i tried making the plier tool,which can help, its got to be one if the hardest hoses to ever install properly,i later modded my pump,for more flow ,some pumps adjust ,some are preset,...now im slinging like it should the bar n chain thank me

How did you remove the old hose
It's been a while but I probably pulled it out with a pliers.
How did you remove the brass piece from the hose. Push it through or pull it to replace?
It's been awhile, but I think that I cut the old hose off of it.
