    Another reason why your chainsaw might not be oiling: There are two very small holes in the bar. They're on opposite sides of the bar. When the chain is mounted properly, one of the holes will be located opposite the duct where oil flows from the oil pump. The oil flows out of the duct, through the hole in the bar, and onto the channel / slit of the bar where the chain runs. If the hole in the bar is plugged with a mixture of sawdust and oil -- or if the channel is full of sawdust -- then the oil won't coat the chain. So clean out the hole in the bar and clean the channel of the bar.

    After making sure the bar, groove and hole is clean, It was still not delivering oil. Simple fix on mine was that the little hose in the oil tank was flipped up. In other words the hose inside the oil tank was sucking air from the top, not oil from the bottom. Just make sure the hose is pointing down and at the bottom of the tank. Stihl O19T.

      Glad I came here, mine was all gunked up cleaned it out real good, and still no oil. Read your comment and mine was sucking air also, now it's working good . Thanks to you both.

      I had that problem with the fuel pick up on a Stihl blower.

    You didn't consider that the bar is clogged also; in which case, you still won't get any flow to the chain.

    Good advice on oil delivery. I just had mine serviced at a certified Stihl dealer, not real happy with the product and service I received, tipped the guy 25 bucks, nice guy but old behaviors hard to get rid of, like blowing compressed air when finished with the mechanics, giving the client a clean machine after spending 200 bucks + tip. The guy was my age, 63 , you would think us old folks would be better at these typical issues. The exception is definitely not the rule!

    4:03 it's not the chain you're going to run through if the oiler doesn't work, you're going to create a bur on the edge of your bar that will keep wearing down the edge, considering the chain is hardened metal and the bar is just mild steel, it's the bar that is going to wear down

    Took my Greenworks electric chainsaw model 20332 apart and found that the spring that holds the shape of the tube from the oil reservoir up to the pump had slid down so the tube was crimping in 2 spots. Slid the spring back up, oil flows, problem solved. I'm always hesitant about taking things apart, so it took a little courage to remove screws and the clip that holds the sprocket in place - it's like a key chain ring. You'll need something very pointy to separate it and turn it out to remove. Also, don't forget to hook the 2nd tube from the pump to the feeder whole back up when putting the housing back together.

      Be sure to clean the groove in the bar where the chain runs. Clean it out really good. Must be free of debris if it's going to oil properly 🙂

    Without bar oil running properly, you will also burn up your chainsaws bar, causing your chain to get sloppy in the channel.

    You also should unlock the brake before removing the cover if the band is in the cover. If you don't do that you will have a heck of a time getting the cover back on again with the brake set.

      Rotary tool and port the oiler holes on the bar. May just have to service your chainsaw more frequently. I run a chainsaw and I've watched hours of video on UA-cam for proper care and maintenance I recommend it. A lot of folks aren't warming up their two-cycle motors especially chainsaws enough it's causing piston damage also they're not mixing properly 50 to 1 is not really a good mix that's a good EPA recommendation. You're better off burning a little smoke out of your two-cycle like a 33 to 1 mix. I'm always taking my chainsaw apart and keeping it clean making sure the oilers are cleared out. Checking the spark plug. There's a proper way to run them store them maintain them all of that.

      Oil tank or hose is probably either leaking (not seated properly anymore) or the hose has cracks in it. Best way to tell if either of those are the problem is fill up with oil and wait for the engine to get a little bit warm then cut it off and then see if a lot of the oil in the tank get about empty with the saw just sitting. If the oil comes out that’s the issue

    • @msdespain
      @msdespain 3 роки тому +1

      If you're running an older Stihl chainsaw, on the bottom of the saw there is a round plug with a fitting for a screwdriver, this is your oil adjustment plug. Use a screwdriver to adjust how much oil it's using. There is a video on UA-cam somewhere of a guy who show's you how to do it.
