I played through God of War with balanced fsr at 4k, so basically 1440p and still couldn't pull above 40 fps on my gtx 1080. It's time to rest, beautiful 1080 😥
Thank you for the video benchmarks. I had a 5950x CPU and upgraded to the 5800X3D recently. I also exclusively game at 4K. There has been a significant improvement in 1% lows and frametime(amount of time in milliseconds that a single frame remains on screen) over my 5950x. Having all that large L3 Cache on a single CCD really speeds up gaming in comparison to the AMD CPUs, like the 5900x and 5950x, that have 2 CCDs with 8 cores each and 32mb of L3 cache on each CCD. Communicating between two CCDs for the available L3 cache is much slower than the 5800X3D, which has all if its cores and L3 cache on a single CCD.
@@Haloreach66850 if you primarily game on your pc and don’t really do much productivity style work and you plan on keeping it for a little while, then it’s definitely worth it. I actually ordered over the weekend a new Asus ROG Crosshair x670E Extreme motherboard, AMD 7950x cpu, Gskill rgb neo 6000mhz ddr5 Expo ram, Samsung 990 pro 2TB ssd, and a Corsair iCue h170i elite capellix AIO cooler. The 7950x is going to be temporary until the X3D version comes out hopefully early this new year. I went with amd’s new AM5 socket since it will be around for a while for upgrades. The 13th gen Intel seems to be at the end of its life cycle.

I just got a 4090 and would not fathom dropping to a lower core count CPU, I've seen games use 70-90% of my 5900X which to put in to perspective, 67% of a 5900X is 100% of a 5800X3D. Waiting for the 7900X3D would have been the smarter option.

I am planning on upgrading to a 5800X3D from a 5900X now that I have a RTX 4090. But I am surprised about the Cyberpunk performance on this video. I get much hight FPS now with my 5900X with all ray tracing effects even enabled. Is that because of the extra cores of the 5900X?
i have 5800X3D and 4090. I get higher FPS on every single title tested here. Not sure where their bottleneck is, but the performance is quite a bit higher than what is being shown in this video.

Wait for the 7000 series 3D chips, the 5900X will outperform some games on a 4090 due to it just having more threads, but the 5800X3D is faster, in a year or 2 the 5800X3D won't be a good chip

Probably a lil late but it’s most likely an AIO Cooler, I’ve found a 280mm Aio cooler is the best fit for the 5800x3D, not to mention plenty of thermal paste plus an -30 under volt on all cores and you should get below 70° even at heavy workloads 😊
@@gamelanwanderer7072 in its current state it's missing necessary tricks to make it worth while. Its aggressive input lag renders it moot. It will feel like the frame rate you were already playing at and it at best would be useful for screen tearing. For right now anyway, 3kliksphilip has discussed a lot of ways to massively improve DLSS 3.0 and make it serve a real purpose by making it more like VR Tech's Asynchronous Spacewarp and such.
@@emerson-biggons7078 its not pointless at all, It can make a huge difference between a game that is barely playable using only DLSS 2.x to smooth using DLSS 3. I have the beta version of Cyberpunk 2077, because I got lucky and found someone that gave out his beta access key for steam. The beta version fully supports DLSS 3 and it makes a big difference in frame rate in the game and smoothness. Yes, the Frame time milliseconds increase using the technology, but this is not really an issue for most games. We are just in the early stages of DLSS 3 and Nvidia will certainly make many more improvements to the version of DLSS 3.0(ie. 3.1, 3.2, etc.). People talking crap about DLSS 3 are mainly people that do not even have a 4000 series GPU and are speculating what the gameplay will feel like.
This is the third video that I have watched that I have better performance on horizon zero damn with the same setup. 167 highs and 115 lows at 4K ultra quality. No FSR. No DLSS.
Maybe he's recording on the same pc? Maybe windows is bloated? Maybe his gou bloated? Maybe you have the latest driver update? Who knows lol Maybe he capped his fps at 120
Also running your Ryzen processor with 3 RAM sticks will most likely slow down your pc! Some benchmark on YT tested Single vs dual vs 4 sticks and only two sticks performed well with Ryzen, anything else would drop fps 10-25% in games!
It is optimized horribly fucking poorly, when you know these fps results are with a 4090 and even at 1440p almost no cpu bottleneck. You should honestly really be getting 250 fps at 1440p max with how beefy and strong that 4090 is.
Definitely yes if you primarily use your PC for gaming. I upgraded from the AMD 5950x to the 5800X3D and got significant gains in the 1% lows and frame time speed, which gives a much smoother gameplay experience with less dips or stuttering in game.
The 3080 TI is already insanely fast. Don't upgrade every generation. It's destroying the market. I only just now went from a 980 TI to a 4090. You can play fine for over half a decade.
@Mejren Gaming trying to milk all I can out of this x570 setup I just made in December. I guess I'll upgrade gpu when needed and cpu to 5800x3d if I cpu bottleneck after 4090 goes in, or I'll wait till 5090. Bad time to have made an x570...had no choice though. 5900x and rtx 3080 in Dec for only $2700 tax free was a great price back then for a pre built.In total, I saved $700 plus tax on the $2700....that's when the 3080 was like $1800.

I had the 5950x cpu and upgraded to the 5800X3D. The main improvement at 4K gaming is that the 1% lows are almost always higher than the 5950x and the frametime(amount of time a single frame stays on the screen in milliseconds) is significantly better. There are several games at 4K where the 5800X3D gives higher frame rates, but like I said, the main improvement is that the 1% lows are higher and you’ll have less random dips in frame rates than the 5950x/5900x has. If you primarily do gaming and that’s your main focus, then changing out your CPU for the 5800X3D is going to give you improvements at 4K over the 5900x/5950x, which have 2 CCDs with 32mb of L3 cache each and 8 cores each. Both of these CCDs have to communicate back and forth with one another to process gaming data. Communication between CCDs is going to be much slower than being able to access all L3 Cache and all of its cores on a single CCD, like the 5800X3D. Also, the AMD 5800X3D is not very expensive right now. You can get one for under $400 dollars now easily on Newegg or Amazon. I got my AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D off of Newegg for $364 dollars. I also ordered some Grizzly Thermal grease/paste, which has been shown in several reviews to be one of the top thermal compounds at transferring heat off of the CPU to your heatsink/CPU Fan or Heatsink/Water cooling system. When upgrading from a previously installed CPU, remember to clean off all of the remaining older thermal paste with alcohol wipes before applying new thermal paste. This allows for better heat transfer since the old thermal past has lost some of its heat transferring capabilities and may not mix well with your newer thermal paste. Good luck with your decision. The real sad thing is that you need to enable frame generation in some games on a 2k$ gpu to get sky high frame rates. For most games you don't need frame generation or dlss tho

@@dumptruck3354 I think it's a bad idea. I recently upgraded from a 3080 to a 4090, and the 3080 was more than capable of handling high refresh rate 1440p. A 4090 would be overkill for 1440p in most cases.

And that's not even the actual performance. The 4090 maxes out the game engine limit of 188 fps at 4k all max settings, but with no msaa or tsaa and no advanced settings turned on
this video showed how demanding spiderman is, with maxed out graphics, on the literally best graphics card on the market, it was fluctuating from 80-90, and had massive frame drops when you went into an area with trees
Nope, the problem is low GPU usage and shitty optimization many areas on the city. It should be over 90 whole the time that we get some real information how the GPU works. This same scenarion appearing also less powerful cards, GPU usage droppin almost 50% and the frames do the same.
@@MakeMaksa because the cpu doesn't have to get maxed out to 100% usage to bottleneck the graphic card. If only one core or one thread is maxed out, there's your cpu bottleneck. In other words, a 8 cores cpu could have only 25% usage, but if one of its core or one of its threads gets to 100% usage, it's still a cpu bottleneck. I hope it helps. Take care ! 😉
I had the 5950x before upgrading to the 5800X3D and I exclusively game at 4K. I’ve gotten consistently higher frame rates than my 5950x in most games and the games where the FPS was essentially equal, my 1% lows and Frame time (ms) was much better. Being able to load the game data into the higher L3 Cache on a single CCD of the 5800x3D is going to be better for 4K gaming, because it can do a better job at quickly accessing game data, which will increase 1% lows and speed up frame time over the majority of other CPUs out there, minus the 13900k. The 5900x and 5950x have 2 CCDs with 32mb of L3 cache on each CCD. Each CCD has 8 cores. Communicating between CCDs is much slower than having all the L3 cache on one CCD like the 5800X3D does. This is why 1% lows and frame time is consistently better than the the 5900x and 5950x CPUs. It’s even surpassed the 12900k in several games. Also, wanted to mention that he OP only has 16GB of system ram and a 60Hz 4K monitor, which will not look as smooth on gameplay and may reduce frame rate a little if some games require more ram.

For right now anyway, 3kliksphilip has discussed a lot of ways to massively improve DLSS 3.0 and make it serve a real purpose by making it more like VR Tech's Asynchronous Spacewarp and such.
@@emerson-biggons7078 its not pointless at all, It can make a huge difference between a game that is barely playable using only DLSS 2.x to smooth using DLSS 3. I have the beta version of Cyberpunk 2077, because I got lucky and found someone that gave out his beta access key for steam. The beta version fully supports DLSS 3 and it makes a big difference in frame rate in the game and smoothness. Yes, the Frame time milliseconds increase using the technology, but this is not really an issue for most games. We are just in the early stages of DLSS 3 and Nvidia will certainly make many more improvements to the version of DLSS 3.0(ie. 3.1, 3.2, etc.). People talking crap about DLSS 3 are mainly people that do not even have a 4000 series GPU and are speculating what the gameplay will feel like.

Also running your Ryzen processor with 3 RAM sticks will most likely slow down your pc! Some benchmark on YT tested Single vs dual vs 4 sticks and only two sticks performed well with Ryzen, anything else would drop fps 10-25% in games!

Definitely yes if you primarily use your PC for gaming. I upgraded from the AMD 5950x to the 5800X3D and got significant gains in the 1% lows and frame time speed, which gives a much smoother gameplay experience with less dips or stuttering in game.

The 3080 TI is already insanely fast. Don't upgrade every generation. It's destroying the market. I only just now went from a 980 TI to a 4090. You can play fine for over half a decade.

The gap is smaller in 2K and 4K, you'll probably be GPU bound on 3080 on high to ultra settings in most games.

I guess I'll upgrade gpu when needed and cpu to 5800x3d if I cpu bottleneck after 4090 goes in, or I'll wait till 5090. Bad time to have made an x570...had no choice though. 5900x and rtx 3080 in Dec for only $2700 tax free was a great price back then for a pre built.In total, I saved $700 plus tax on the $2700....that's when the 3080 was like $1800.

Unfortunately even with 5800X3D and 4K with 4090, there are some huge bottlenecks.
Look at warzone 4K : with DLSS off, he gets nice > 90% GPU usage.
As soon as he enables DLSS on quality, GPU usage goes down and he had roughly same fps than without DLSS….weird

I had the 5950x cpu and upgraded to the 5800X3D. The main improvement at 4K gaming is that the 1% lows are almost always higher than the 5950x and the frametime(amount of time a single frame stays on the screen in milliseconds) is significantly better. There are several games at 4K where the 5800X3D gives higher frame rates, but like I said, the main improvement is that the 1% lows are higher and you’ll have less random dips in frame rates than the 5950x/5900x has. If you primarily do gaming and that’s your main focus, then changing out your CPU for the 5800X3D is going to give you improvements at 4K over the 5900x/5950x, which have 2 CCDs with 32mb of L3 cache each and 8 cores each. Both of these CCDs have to communicate back and forth with one another to process gaming data. Communication between CCDs is going to be much slower than being able to access all L3 Cache and all of its cores on a single CCD, like the 5800X3D. Also, the AMD 5800X3D is not very expensive right now. You can get one for under $400 dollars now easily on Newegg or Amazon. I got my AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D off of Newegg for $364 dollars. I also ordered some Grizzly Thermal grease/paste, which has been shown in several reviews to be one of the top thermal compounds at transferring heat off of the CPU to your heatsink/CPU Fan or Heatsink/Water cooling system. When upgrading from a previously installed CPU, remember to clean off all of the remaining older thermal paste with alcohol wipes before applying new thermal paste. This allows for better heat transfer since the old thermal past has lost some of its heat transferring capabilities and may not mix well with your newer thermal paste. Good luck with your decision.

@@dumptruck3354 I think it's a bad idea. I recently upgraded from a 3080 to a 4090, and the 3080 was more than capable of handling high refresh rate 1440p. A 4090 would be overkill for 1440p in most cases.

Nope, the problem is low GPU usage and shitty optimization many areas on the city. It should be over 90 whole the time that we get some real information how the GPU works. This same scenarion appearing also less powerful cards, GPU usage droppin almost 50% and the frames do the same.

@@MakeMaksa because the cpu doesn't have to get maxed out to 100% usage to bottleneck the graphic card. If only one core or one thread is maxed out, there's your cpu bottleneck.
In other words, a 8 cores cpu could have only 25% usage, but if one of its core or one of its threads gets to 100% usage, it's still a cpu bottleneck.

I had the 5950x before upgrading to the 5800X3D and I exclusively game at 4K. I’ve gotten consistently higher frame rates than my 5950x in most games and the games where the FPS was essentially equal, my 1% lows and Frame time (ms) was much better. Being able to load the game data into the higher L3 Cache on a single CCD of the 5800x3D is going to be better for 4K gaming, because it can do a better job at quickly accessing game data, which will increase 1% lows and speed up frame time over the majority of other CPUs out there, minus the 13900k. The 5900x and 5950x have 2 CCDs with 32mb of L3 cache on each CCD. Each CCD has 8 cores. Communicating between CCDs is much slower than having all the L3 cache on one CCD like the 5800X3D does. This is why 1% lows and frame time is consistently better than the the 5900x and 5950x CPUs. It’s even surpassed the 12900k in several games. Also, wanted to mention that he OP only has 16GB of system ram and a 60Hz 4K monitor, which will not look as smooth on gameplay and may reduce frame rate a little if some games require more ram.
