Brent and Karl. The dream team, the dynamic duo, the ehhh you get the point. My favorite cartube crossover team.
It’s so cool when you have that friend who can anticipate the next step, knows what you are thinking.
Even the problems become fun. Family isn’t always blood!
Friends are the family you choose ;-)
I used to build truck bodies for a living and there are two things about those front compartment doors that gives me pause for thought. First, if you are on the side of the road and you have to open the them up they are going to project fairly far out from the side of the deck which could cause problems with traffic that is passing on roads with small shoulders. They are going to be sitting down fairly low so a passing vehicle could easily overlook it and run right into it. Second, you are going to have to crawl over the door to access the compartment for loading and unloading. Third, they are going to weigh a fair amount so closing them up might be a bit of a struggle especially if the hinges get a bit rusted.
A better design might be to split the door vertically and have two smaller doors that swing out horizontally with the front door skin overlapping the rear door a little to allow for a weather seal to keep rain out. You won't have to contend with lifting the door and they will be far more visible to other drivers.
Just sayin.......
I agree with you :) There are so many details of this build that I would have done differently.
Agreed. Show me any truck that has drop down doors....!!!
I've got to agree with wingman from some similar personal experience. It looks fantastic! But I think you're going to find some practical issues with it over time.
Wingman pretty much covers the ergonomic and safety issues with the doors. I'd also add that the gaps and steel/wood mixture is likely to have sealing issues over time and any amount of road spray finds a way to get into everything. That really limits the usefulness of the storage boxes.
That also gives a place for water to get into joints and rust things out. At the very least I'd seam seal all the joints between sheet metal and structure.
Drawing a crowd when you stop for fuel is always a sign of success. Congrats gentlemen.
That deck looks way slippery- better back up on that and do a tire melting burnout for a little traction 😂
I can't imagine how great it would be to have a Brent working on my project. You don't even have to worry that it's going to be done as good as it can be. Man he really gets things done. Great job man.
THAT'S ! SLICK! THE ROASTER, AND THE TRUCK HAULER - BOTH HAVE AIR BAGS 👍
I learn something new every time I watch you channel! Make it Kustoms and Halfass Kustoms are my two favorite channels! You guys can come up with really cool ideas and explain in detail how you plan to accomplish your goals! 👍👍👍!
It must be said , one of the best combos on UA-cam. On one hand you have one of the best smiles and on the other we have a super infectious laugh ❤
Personally the doors should open out wards. The way you have them you can’t get close enough without stepping on them
Open upward on gas struts . Small boxes are ok down but the front ones are huge
I think they did it the other way because of the kick in the top part way along but I would have made it work . I bet he changes it before he paints it properly in the future
@@NZMOPAR- I think you’re right, thinkin the same thing. That huge door I gonna be in the way for gettin in there. The slope on the top does complicate things but these guys are pretty clever. I bet the hinges end up on the top before it’s painted.
How do you tie a car down on the deck?
@@georgesimeone6292 its got big D ring all around the edge brother if you have a good look
This truck is looking absolutely fantastic. I've been following the build from day one and it's sooo nice to be able to see the final steps in its completion. 😁👍
Excellent, you 2 really bounce off each other, quite the Dynamic Duo, unstoppable once you're focused on in one the Task.
This truck vid turned into my fave build video over the last month or so. Really cool watching you Canadians have fun from down here in the US.
It looked like an awesome day to have the garage door open.
Damn, I don't know why I love this ramp truck build so much. Right from the start, I was hooked. This is looking so good. It's coming a long, real nice!
Super cool, still thinks it needs a 12 valve Cummins in it though. ;-)
Brent: If Karl and yourself were in the same shop class back in the day--the instructor would have been forced into early retirement because of your collaborations!😆
1 heck of a picnic table lol
Damn Nice looking Ramp Truck! You all knocked it out of the park! cool looking " Ride " who would've ever thought, that when we use to see those old trucks driving around in the late sixties, early seventies that they would LOOK so amazing but here we are. " The Smile on Karls face freaking says it all. "
Great video Brent - watching you two gentleman work together is such a pleasure. This truck is truly Awesome!!
Ben a long ride but what a end l👀ks great 😀👍
You figure it out as you go , every thing has a place and a place for everything . Thanks for having us on this momentous occasion . God Speed . God Bless you all . Time waits for no man , Be safe Be Well ,,Stuart in Ontario..
That is one sick hauler. Hopefully the heating problem is an easy fix.
Came out nice. Little concerned about the longevity of the plywood but only time will tell.
Probably won't rust at least.
It is pressure treated.
Congrats guy's on building an awesome/cool/one of a kind 71 GMC RAMP TOW TRUCK.... lv the color..
That is one of the coolest tow rigs I've seen. The one the count has ( counting cars) is definitely the only competition
Sick Carl ! Came out so wicked nice 👏. Great work
Karl
Yo bro...I've said it before but saying it again...your choice of music while you fab sends me to the right place...keep on keeping on 🤙
Brent is the man!!!!!!
The ease in which you two work together is impressive.
The TRUCK is looking good 👍👍
Verry nice truck , many thums upp from Sweden 😮😮😮😊😊😊
You guys did a great job! Truck is outstanding!!
Brent and Karl work well together!! Couldn't Karl have started the wheel panel bend in the bead roller to at least begin the bend instead of whaling away with the hammer? It all worked out in the end. Nice work and it is coming along fantastic!!
Nah it was like 14 gauge. Don't think his bead roller can do that thick.
That metal decking you pulled out,, maybe if you added punch louvers would help with cooling
Big Steeering wheel need one of these....A brodie knob (alternative spelling: brody knob) is a doorknob-shaped handle that attaches to the steering wheel of an automobile or other vehicle or equipment with a steering wheel. Other names for this knob include suicide, necker, granny, knuckle buster, and wheel spinner.
We always called them knuckle knockers
Lolz insane how much happens when Brent are there
Just like the Lone Ranger and Tonto, a great combination! Good tunes too Brent!
Thanks Brent, I enjoyed watching you guys work and the progress!😊👍💯
Put a second radiator right behind the front grille in series with the original.
LMight consider mounting that GMC in that louver above the grille opening. Most folks would not know it was relocated. Safe travels.
Sick, sick, one special ramp hauler for sure, with best buds an friends that make the best memories
Great job guys
Awesome 😎
Karl; Perhaps you ahould open the doors out & put some reflective tape on the inside of them.
Nice job on the truck Brent. She is looking mighty fine. Take care and safe travels. 👍👍👍
Brent you men have done a ton of work in a short time. And are a great tag team. Thank you so much for sharing!
💯👊👍💯
Good thing Karl has help with this project cause it wasn't ending. Well done but a long project nonetheless. Looking damd good to
Since the doors open down, you should make the boxes/shelves swing out or roll out like drawers, so you don't have to climb on the door to load and unload. Just a thought.
The build looks great!
Let Karl know the latest his ramp truck turned out awesome. Thanks for the video Brent
This is one massive Car Hauler! Looks really cool!!!!!!!!!
Hello Brent and Carl, great progress on the project. I was thinking that four adult followers in the side compartments with you guys driving would be a dream come true. Carl I love your work and I still want to drive the mini Buick. I remember driving my dad's 1958 Buick. Excellent video and team work, THANKS.
Before final assembly make sure you guys paint the bottoms and entire outside of the wood for the boxes with marine grade paint, I know it’s treated wood but it’ll swell up and begin to rot 😎🤙🏼🇺🇸
Coming along nicely!
When you open those compartment doors you will have to stand on them to reach inside.
Oh boy.
There‘s a project about to get finished! I don’t know yet if I can cope with that twist on your channels, Brent and Karl. I feel a little homeless right now…. 😅
When the truck is finished it would be interesting to see the tare weight 🇦🇺👍
without the deck finish it was 3250kg or 7165 pounds they weight it on one of Karl's videos he was hoping to get it under 5000kg 11000 pound to be on a certain license or inspection or something like that
Truck is Awesome
Collaboration with Make-It Custom
You know you've been doing a lot of welding when you have that much of a welders sun burn..
Was hoping that you were gonna bead roll some body lines etc into each of those panels to 1 stiffen them up & remove some of the oil canning noise & 2rd to give it more character below the belt line but you know wot your doing looks great regardless
Quality workmanship, banter & tunes, perfect.
That thing is so kool! Smiles for miles.
Im really particular about how I do stuff. I've got a friend like you that I can turn loose with total confidence, makes it a great work environment.
Looks like Karl has a lot of fun work toys
Slab sided bed would allow doors to slide open. Cam rollers in
C channel tracks top and bottom would work.
Need to put a winch on it and paint the sides .
Work this clean might mean a channel name changes to Baddass Kustoms? lol
Saludos desde Lakeland Florida y Puerto Rico. Hermoso proyecto bonito trabajo.
It's very cool, watching your Video, then Karls.
How about a gaming chair, a PS5 and a monitor screen in the big side boxes.
Great video. The truck looks spectacular. You two guys do some crazy good work and have a blast doing it. Great to see 2 friends have so much fun building a really cool looking ramp truck. Been following this on Karl's channel too. Look forward to the next one. Be safe and stay well.
Are going to make inner wheel wells on the aft axle to protect the underside of the decking? I think you’re going to wish the storage doors were hinged at the top at some point. Who am I to say, all your builds are fantastic. Looking great.
I remember seeing these Molson and Labatt trucks moving beer around my area... up til what feels like not so long ago.
Oh yea Sweet Thanks for sharing
Nice truck you guys
Don't know if i would personally like the doors open that way but not mine sideways be better for me but its still cool build
Great build vid, love watching the progress. Maybe a couple of electric fans in front of the rad would help with the cooling issue?
I think it looks great. Don't understand why the doors open down. Seems like they'd be in the way. If you had to load something heavy you'd have to stand on the door? But if they went up, maybe they'd be in the way and you'd be bumping your head on it. I don't know. Looks good though.
Thought for sure there'd be some beadrolling on the skins
Carl owes you big time LoL
When you need more seats just to pick a comfortable car to haul
You should use marine grade plywood. It will prevent rot a lot longer.
You should put your friends little Buick car in that big box! L O L
Nice job looks great 👍 you guys have done a great job
kool build !!! he should make some Subaru brat style boomer seats and put them on the bed right behind the cab. seating for at least two more!! thanks for the videos!!
You need a couple of vinals of a guy sitting in a lounge chair for those boxes.
You guys are having too much fun. Frown and look like you are thinking more.
🗿💨 a fella might keep an eye on rear dif fluid temp,, if it gets too warm find a spot to vent hot air out from under bed. 🔥 Caught Most of the build and love it. Karl needs a A+ for creativity 👍👍 He saw the potential when I didn't.. Thanks for sharing Brent
wow soooooooooooooo sooooooooooo kewl great vision Karl . / Help from friends got er done now all the thoughts you had are ready to be enjoyed . dang so Kewl
Good video!
Please make sure there is a positive lock, to prevent the cab coming down on someone working on the engine, lots of mechanics have been killed by cabs coming down on them. Love the build.
Yeah it's got 2 safty locks along with one on the deck a feller manually sets.
Agree the doors should flip latches down hood prop to hold them open. Much better accessibility
Minty !
Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out .
Later ...
Yes Sir!!!
Should have painted steel tube. Then put rubber seal then laid alloy plate. It will react with each other. Looks great.
Karl's going to get the deck blasted and painted yet.
its not finished
Happy Friday Canada 🇨🇦 😊👍👍👍👍✌️
LOL I think that the Panels around the wheel should of been attached with a fasterners system to make it removable. But she is looking good.
Maybe in the future hinges similar to the one on baggage compartments on greyhound buses would allow for a smaller footprint when open.
Thanks for another , Brother !
great music
Great video Brent and Karl Truck looks Awesome
