Running out of content ideas I see. U-Haul at least where I’m at has the biggest selection of POS trailers on the planet, no matter what the type or purpose. Absolute junk with zero maintenance and wiring that Duff could do better. I rented a flat bed low boy style to haul a lathe I bought and the thing looked like it came out of Bagdad.
Looks like you put out only the finest content!
@@moremortskerepair4354I try my best being a one man show with limited material and not having a guy with a Chinese sounding nickname doing my editing. But I guarantee, a review of any U-Haul trailer won’t be in my future. That’d be like doing a video on a wheelbarrow from Walmart and saying how good it is.
Baghdad* dumb asssss
What's that Chinese thing below your mustache? Oh, that's my chin. 😅
@@darrenstorey495 thank you Captain Obvious. No sh|t.
I reckon this U-haul trailer is a rare example of when over-thinking something is a good thing.
Agreed
Those trailers tow so nice. Straight as an arrow loaded or unloaded. Very smooth ride. I do get a little pushing on the surge brakes though on some of them.
Thank Mortske, thanks Bob and thanks Chin!!😊
Our pleasure
I was an independent U-Haul dealer for a many years and I can confidently tell you that unfortunately U-Haul DOES NOT sell their trailers used. They are wonderful trailers but it’s a liability issue for them. I was also part of the program that sold that sold the used equipment so I do have some experience with the matter.
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
@@moremortskerepair4354 no problemo! People would always inquire about buying them and theft was not an uncommon thing. I’ve seen people steal them and spray paint them to try and disguise them and hide them or sell on marketplace. If anyone comes across one of their trailers for sale it report it, you might get a reward.
So you are saying to have one of these you have to steal one.
Can confirm, I worked there in 2017. The main reason they dont sell and most of the parts are modular is for ease of repair or rebuild. One of the enclosed trailers burnt to the ground due to something with a battery catching fire inside, they shipped it to the main base and built a new trailer on the frame. They do sell the vehicles once they reach about 150-160k.
I replaced SO MANY fenders on the tow dollies.
i’ve rented plenty of those trailers they absolutely perfect for little daily use for the $50
Agreed
I've used one of these and towed a 1958 Jeep Willys Station Wagon from Upper State PA, Wellsboro to Cape May Court House, NJ in one day. It was a life changer and I made it!.... To get it up on the trailer I bought a portable winch hand held and it worked like liceity sweet!...
Awesome
Just last summer here in Canada I bought a UHaul for dolly with legit registration stating it was a Uhual brand and still had bin tag on it from 1970. I did a bunch of work to it and used it a bunch then sold it. Buyer was towing it to Florida with his motor home and car on it. The thing still worked perfect!
Good deal
Now you went and did it.
You rent from U-Haul you’re gonna have to watch this training video! Speaking of videos. DD Speed shop is rocking one of your sweat shirts!
From personal experience those are solid trailers. My only dislike was the brakes they’re a pain to back up hill (like in a residential driveway) the brakes lockup. The last one I towed was several years ago so maybe they’ve added a a lockout for backing up hill.
Ahhh makes sense
I caught myself trying to help Chin onto the trailer.
🤣
Well Mortske I got up at 2 am and went trucking. Here I am 9:00 in the evening and I'm watching your channel and once again you are putting my ass to sleep! Love you man! 💯👍 Catch you on the next one , I'm going to bed.
I will say a 1965 f100 long box will not fit on these well ( its really really close to the end ). But I do like these trailers, used them to haul a couple cars.
Good evening from Cape Cod ⛵Oh oh, you've got the U-Haul bug, Mortske Mafia box trucks will be everywhere 😂 actually that was some very sound advice. Keep the awesome content coming 👍✌️🇺🇲
Those slotted dish mags look sooooooo good on that ole blue Chevy pickup 🥰
They are!
TO BAD YOUR LOOSING THE SHOP WITH ALL THE COOL UPGRADES OF LATE.... LOVES 4 DUFF
I hauled my 68 impala wagon on one of these-it was close to being too much but yeah these are sweet.
That edit.... Letttttttssssss gooooooo!!
Hey Thomas I've been a fan for quite awhile and also bought stuff from you too....I work for Uhaul and would like to thank you for not shitting on us like a lot of people do...great company to work for.
I say it how it is!
@@moremortskerepair4354 an that's exactly why we like your channel, but the Duff dog is really why lol
Definitely
😂sure looked like a sponsored video to me 😂
almost all trailers here in Europe have surge brakes but our car/truck trailers are just up to 3.5tons max total weight :(
It is worth looking into vs a tow bill in a pinch as well. If you have something that can pull it and the wife's car is tits up outside of town by a county or two, it may save a buck.
Didn't know what I expected, but it wasn't this awesome thorough walk-through of a U-Haul trailer! Nice one! Cheers for actually showing off loading and unloading.
"Suck it!" - Chin haha!
Keep it up guys, ya'll rock!
Hey, thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Mortske. Do they come in any other color than Grey and Orange? Maybe that's why u tube periodically kicks me off for a while, like a time out sorta thing.?😀
Not that I know of
kick ass mechanic i am amazed how long have you been turning renches? have seen you in puddins vids too which actully makes them better salute
Much appreciated
I got a trailer the other day and backed into a steel rail. I took it in and showed him where I hit it and he asked if I got the insurance. I showed him and he said have a good day. He then told me it all goes into a slush fund so unless the trailer's totaled out it's more a CYA but in that case I'd imagine your insurance would cover it.
Interesting
Its just a suggestion I couldn't see it, Had me dying!!
That truck is so good. 😎
It sure is!
If you put down the vehicle and vehicle being towed and get insurance, then you're covered. If you. However, if you deviate and an accident happens, you will void your insurance. Recommend only going with what uhaul approves. Otherwise, you might be liable.
good to know
Towed my sistsrs car from Indiana to Maryland with one couple years ago 80mph Lol no problems
U-Haul’s website says it’s ok to haul a Suburban, but they say no when you get there to rent it. So you leave and go to another rental center and tell them you’re hauling a Tahoe, but they tell you their system shows that you just tried to rent for an unapproved vehicle at another location, and they still won’t rent to you.
Whoops
I hauled my 1941 Chevy Style Master with one.
Cool
These are great trailers IF, BIG IF, you are not hauling a remotely large car.
A single cab long bed pickup kinda sorta fits but it is sketchy falling off the back. 130" wheelbase is too long, I would seriously avoid hauling anything longer than 120" or so.
Just rented one for $67, to haul a car 150 miles away. Those rubber bumpers saved the day....
Cheap
Does U-haul operate outside the USofA?
No idea
Cool thanks 👍👍👍👍👍🤔
No problem 👍
Things to say or think when you see a trailer like that -
Oh look! There's a U-Haul trailer - you can tell by the way that it is.
Somebody forgot to return their rental!
If it has a fresh coat of paint - Oh look! A stolen U-Haul trailer.
Never rented one
Another bonus is not needing a place to store your trailer when not being used, along with not worrying about anyone stealing your trailer when it's parked behind your garage.... I've used one of those several times, main thing to remember is use a full size pickup or larger as the tow vehicle, don't overload the trailer, and don't drive like a doofus tweaker.
Those tires are made in the USA some of there other types are made in Canada only a few are made in china
Mortske rocks (DUFF)
Trailer life…..😊
Lol
The more you know.
Sucks you can’t control the trailer brakes.
They'll only rent em to you if you pick it up with what you say your towing it with.
Makes sense
“What are you watching?”
“A walk around of a UHaul trailer”
“Why?”
“Go away”
Lol
nothing that requires more than the autonomous nervous system is "idiot proof".
I tried to rent one last week and it would have been 750 dollars.
Damn…I’m so distracted by that snot on your beard…. But I do watch your videos
My buddies uncle bought one of these at an estate yard sale thing. Someone had rattle canned it grey, it came with perm AZ tags so OBVIOUSLY he never re-registered it, and we all used that thing for nearly 15yrs before someone he loaned it out to got pulled over and it came back being stolen.
U-Haul was actually very decent about it, they saw his bill of sale from the estate and had the charges dropped.
Whoops
Just the greatest channel and content creator! 🙂 much respect ✊
Much appreciated
OH NO!!! Not a HAWK TUAH! LOL!
I had to borrow a U-Haul car trailer to go out to Nebraska to pick up 2 cars. My son in law had my trailer hooked to his truck. Because I rented it, I had the U-Haul on mine. I will say that I LOVE the tiny license plate that U-Haul has on the back of them. BTW, Iowa has speed cameras right before the IL state line. Luckily that little plate is up under the back of the car and the speed camera's angle couldn't get it. That would have been a pricey ticket if they could have read the plate! Thanks U-Haul!
Lol
Glad you just got a warning 😅!!! Glad you made it home safe too!
Hey mortske I am a old man non the grand kids have the house now
I live in the basement but I enjoy the videos
Rock on young man
I've always wanted one of these exact trailers for myself. It hauls a Model A perfectly. But they don't sell them when they retire them, they get crushed/scrapped.
We sell them when they time out so to speak
I tried legitimate channels, uhaul told me they do not sell them used for legal reasons, uhaul brands everything including some tires. They run them untill they are worn out. And swear they get scrapped, supposedly if you see one for sale it had been stolen at some point
Ok
@moremortskerepair4354 you're right the trailers are geat
Sure, if you drive a Mercury Mountaineer, you can rent just fine from them. Lincoln Aviator, perfectly fine. Ford Explorer, NO WAY. But who wants to tow with an Explorer anyway, wheelbase is short, frame is narrow, even with the tow package it's like 5395lbs and the U-Haul trailer weighs what 2200? So you're kinda limited in what you can tow on it. So obviously that's why we got rid of the Suburban and got an Explorer, to keep me from buying project cars.
The insurance is no scam, I've seen it save families thousands during an already unfortunate situation. I also seen families destroy a truck and trailer in an accident, and be on the hook financially for all of it. It's not at all like your "extended warranty" example. And your home owners insurance would laugh at you for trying to file a claim about a U-Haul trailer. If you rent something, just pay the $14/day insurance fee, and have no worries. AND know this - U-Haul does not sell their Auto Transport trailers, or any of their trailers ever. If someone is selling one, it's almost always stolen. All UHI built trailers are inhouse recycled to keep other trailers on the road, be it box trailer, open trailer, or auto transporter. U-Haul does sell off old vehicles from the fleet. But those are built by Ford, GM, Toyota, whatever. UHI built equipment is generally never sold.
If you plan on lying about what you're towing or hauling with - expect your insurance coverage to be voided, and any damages will be your responsibility, and a potential blacklisting from ever being able to rent in the future. Not to mention, miss use of this type of equipment can kill someone. And they photograph the plate and vehicle picking up the trailer. They will happily verify if your classic vehicle will fit, there's no need to lie to them. If it's an unsafe hookup, it's usually due to weight or size. So if you're telling them you're moving a Geo Metro with your GMC 3500, and then they find you crashed using a shortbed 1/2 ton 1965 chevy to tow a 1970 F250 on the AT, guess what, you're responsible for all of it, including the people you've potentially hurt. I know good old boys like Mortske here think they know better, or they think the rules don't apply to them. Don't be stupid. If it's listed as an unsafe hookup, it's that way for a reason.
30 years with U-Haul, I've seen it all.
I always take the insurance. Its $8 a day where I am at for the car trailer.
Calling morstke a good Ole boy is a stretch. Honestly u-haul is overly cautious on what they'll let you haul with what. Their brand is on the line so they are overly cautious. You don't need a giant diesel to haul a geo metro.
I always take the insurance. A few years ago they added catagory for other items and allow it to be used with not vehicles. I've moved a small building behind a minivan and a farm tractor without lying.
@@GMC.Sprint Yep, if you're doing something sensible, you can now use them for non automotive purposes. Saw a picture of a little helicopter on one. Fit perfect.
I'd have to agree that those car haulers are fantastic. So easy to safely secure the car on and off you go.
Maybe it is just me, but I found it quite humorous that you did the finally pan around the trailer like you do in all your car videos. Keep up the great work and I found this video very informative. You never know when you are going to learn something new.
😁
An old ford 850 series tractor with a loader will also fit on one of these trailers. Just don’t tell them that is what you’re hauling.
Lol
These are indeed great trailers, however if you find one for sale it's stolen. U-Haul cuts all trailers into scrap when they are retired unfortunately.
Thank you all for the support of this Chanel ❤
Thank you too!
No Uhaul in my region. However this is one heck of a good trailer. Not a fan of rental trailers cause they usually are just abused the heck out, were I live. Specially the small one axel trailers. I have my own and I never borrow it out cause that is like asking a problem into your life. Also Cops do love to weigh trailers these days. If your over loaded than they fine is salty not to mention they may not allow you to continue driving. Unless you ditch some of the dead weight. Hope the cops did not harass you too much.
Hey Mortske- those U-Haul trailers are the best. I hauled a ‘72 K10 from Bozeman to Alexandria and it pulled so smooth there were good stretches west river that I forgot it was even there. I imagine they smooth out even more over 90 :)
I know that stretch!
There Motorcycle trailers are even better
Talk about LUCKY, getting 1967C10 for a plate #.....😊
I need to fab my fenders to do that on my car trailer. U-haul has some great designs.
They really do
I said the same thing! 😅
I'm always looking for inspiration, i bought a fukin bigtex 17 footer, thnkin ill rule the world. Picking ol farms and shit. Now look. Jk, my last one was a 91 hightop conversion van 98k miles 3k. Please Please everyone vote for Duffalugafass. Our nation is at stake.
Get the uhaul insurance, it's $28 per rental. Everyone i know that didn't they "found" damage to the rental that cost $50 minimum. So unless you want to argue with them, just get the insurance.
U-haul doesn’t sell the trailers at all, I wish they did.
Dang
Asking for a friend, can you tow a '03 F150 extended cab
Uhaul: No.
Friend: give those straps an extra click on that "Geo". . . tires are on the edge of the edge, infact drive up the front of the trailer a little.
I have never seen a u haul trailer for sale.
He got uhaul fever off puddin not the box strain the trailer kind of sick 🤧 Symptoms may include random hysterical rambling,s about uhaul products and fascinated about useing said product
Only penske sells similar car trailers. If it is uhual and for sale it is stolen and you cannot get a title. And uhual will come after you if caught. Uhual 4 wheel car trailers and their enclosed trailers, open cargo trailers are never resold to the public. They are crushed and the aluminum sold. Only the car dollies, moving trucks, vans, pick-up trucks are sold to public. Penske on other hand everything is resold to public.
Not sure why I got this suggestion, but fwiw, you're not gonna fit a long bed full size like a F250 regular cab long bed on it. I tried... had to let air out of the front tires and ratchet strap the front, and pull the ramps out about 6 inches and used 2" ratchet straps to hold the rear wheels to the rear. The rear wheels where centered on the very end of the trailer. Scary shit. Pulled nice though, considering it was overloaded by probably a ton. (diesel truck)
I tried renting one of those two wheeled dollies once to haul a 95 two wheel drive four door the small S-10 Blazer about 3/4 of a mile to a garage after it broke down. They wouldn't rent it to me said the Blazer was to heavy. B.S.
This is the only uhaul trailer I've seen that even has a trailer jack. The new coupler is a lot better than the old screw-down they still have on most of their trailers. Still not sure why they always have to reinvent the wheel. Their enclosed 6x12 with no trailer jack is a ridiculous back wrecker to try to hook up with maybe a couple hundred pounds of tongue weight empty.
So what did Mortske haul on the trailer ? Oh ya, you forgot to mention not to pull the trailer down the interstate intoxicated, be smart
I’ve rented a box van , and a trailer a few times , I must say they are pretty easy to deal with . They also offer moving boxes , heavy blankets and many other useful Nick knacks if you are in the need . Great video Mortzke . Cheers 🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing!
20:07 "Didn't kill it though soooo SUCK IT!!!"
OHHHHH CLASSIC!!!😅😂😊
Depends on state. We don’t have to register a trailer for personal use and anything attached to the truck is covered under automotive insurance. It pays to own your own in the south. Liberal shitholes probably not
I want one of those. I rent them often. They drive so smooth and stable. No matter what you put on it.
I hauled a 61 Coupe deville on one. Barely fit. Towed it 600 miles with a 3/4 ton super duty. No problem. I told them I was towing an Escort....
Lol
I have never been able to rent a U-Haul trailer. Every time I tell them the truck or car I want to put on they say it's too big or my tow rig is not heavy enough to pull it. Most recently I wanted to tow a '05 Silverado 1500 on the U-Haul trailer and pull it with a '96 3500 dually. They have the nerve to tell me The dually wouldn't pull it 😂 we pulled 15,000 lb with it for over a decade without issue 🤷♂️ F-Uhaul
I wonder why this came up on my iPad but not on my phone? So mama card is watching it now that I got my iPad back from being repaired.
man that Chevy is sweet. do you guys ship to Romania? jk, have a good one brother!
I'm sure there's a lot of U-haul Fail videos on UA-cam.
Using the wrong tow vehicle or hauling something way too big.
No doubt
One thing you didn't mention is to make sure your towing vehicle has a class 3 hitch. I used to see pickup trucks with a trailer on the back hooked up to a bumper ball and the bumper hanging down at a 45 deg angle ready to say bye-bye.
Infomercial by Mortske..
The old 67 Chevy is lookin good. I really like that pickup. It's amazing how much difference a little cleaning,
the proper wheels, and lowering it makes...
Those are pretty nice trailers. You mentioned $7500 for the trailer if you wad it up. I was wondering what
they cost new. They should get a good price when they buy them new, because they probably buy quite a few
of them every year. If I wanted to buy a different car trailer, I would look into buying one when they dump them.
If a guy could get one cheap enough, I would replace the bearings just for piece of mind, brakes if it needed them,
and I'd put 10 ply tires on it and a winch.. Peel off all the U-Haul stickers and paint the fenders just so it looked less like a wore out
U-Haul trailer. The thing would last a lifetime and then some. The folding drivers side fender is a really good idea...
Rolling rolling rolling. Keep them doggys rolling. Rawhide! ... sing with me Mortske.
Wow. Fold down fenders. I Didn't know that about Uhaul trailers.
Good advice. Could have trailered that Chevy down here to Texas for me. I mean while your at it.
🤙
I usually have had no problem with these trailers however, I can confirm that a 97 f150 extended cab 6 1/2 foot bed truck will not fit on one of these trailers, which I guess would be considered a modern extended cab short bed truck. Found that out the hard way
Noted
i have seen so many videos where those fold down fenders would have helped so much.
I threw a suburban on one and went 700 miles it pulled great
Sir you need to do a video with Pole Barn Garage!!!!!
My least favorite part of those trailers is the load point and tongue weight
They have a larger trailer l had to use to haul a 98 GMC 4x4 , reg. cab and 3/4 ton , 454 automatic. Check the tires over really good as l have had several go bad on the road. Note to self ,don't haul a one ton Diamond T pickup from lndy to Pontiac, Michigan. I had a tire separate thirty miles from home ! It was the smaller trailer like you used. That was in 1994 and they didn't offer the larger GVW Trailer back then. l wish l could buy one brand new with the bigger GVW,
Interesting
A ‘97 4WD Suburban will fit on there backwards barely, with some extra Walmart tow straps and be towed with a He££iburton Super Duty down Hwy 9 from a rig in Western OK to Eastern OK overnight. Allegedly.
Lol
The car trailers for $117 .00 and the car dollies to
Did you know UA-cam is playing BET commercials on your videos? How neat is that?
Oh my
