Just used this yesterday on some chicken legs...rock solid mod. It made me love my fireboard even more. My1050 got to temp faster than the OEM controller. well done on this cable.
I just got my fireboard 2 drive. I also have the cable for the masterbuilt 1050. If I understand correctly with the Fireboard 2 drive I didn't need the the drive cable but I still need the fan cable is the correct
Great mod! Has anyone looked at a mod using the Thermoworks Signal or Smoke X? it has a fan controller and i was thinking that it could be adapted to the 560/1050.
It does. You can replace your controller with this completely. I have seen custom faceplates on auction and craft sites to insert the fireboard on the 560 or 1060
Probably your switches or wiring. The stock controller kicks out more voltage than the FireBoard so it can afford more of a voltage loss through the high resistance switches. We have another video where I discuss that issue.
Saddest thing here is... One buys an $800 item, only to spend more money on a third party item to correct areas that the $800 items fails on. That's unacceptable by Masterbuilt. My 2 cents.
I think if you got a unit on sale (the 560's are selling for $200-$300 in some areas, for example), then it's worth it. I got my 1050 for really cheap (got a lucky deal) so I'm considering doing this. With that said, you definitely don't need the Fireboard. I've been using my 1050 (and a 560 briefly before that) for a year now just fine.
Thanks for making the custom wire! Great video!! Just ordered the controller and cable.
Thank you. Just ordered a drive and cable. Appreciate the video!
Thanks. Just need my 1050. Waiting for it to get here.
Great video and great products. Thanks

Right on! Glad you’re digging the cable!

Yes, with the FB2 Drive, our cable connects to the grill. You do not need the drive cable.
Do you have a video showing how to build the cable?

What are the issues with using a usb power source?
What is the link to order this for the 560
I assume this cable will be compatible with the Fireboard 2?
That is correct, the cable is compatible with the Fireboard 2
@@TheBBQHQ awesome thank you, definitely on my wish list for the near future lol. Love my 1st gen fireboard
What are the advantages of changing to this fire board?
The FireBoard offers excellent temperature control and is the best wifi temperature monitoring device in the bbq world.
Will this not work on a Master Built 800 series?
It does. This video was made before the 800’s existed.
Will this fix the problem of my fan always shutting off and not turning back on?
Most likely you’re having switch issues…they can be problematic
I have a 1050 ordered. Will this work on the original fireboard?
It will with a Drive Adapter.
will there ever be an adapter cable for the char-griller gravity 980?
We will take a look and see if we can do it. The 980 seems to be gaining popularity.
Please make one for Gravity 980!
Working on it !
Wait ... is this different from the first cable? I don't see that video anymore ...
D. Riggins yes it is. It incorporates the door switches. We can send you the updated one if you received the old version.
Can I use a fireboard meat probe with the Masterbuilt controller?
No, the stock controller has a proprietary food probe.
Will this work on the 800 as well?
Sure does!
Why does the PID version need changed? Thanks
Heath Clark v3.0 tends to be a bit aggressive.
I only wish the shipping to canada wasn't so unrealistic
Will this work on masterbuilt new 800?
We haven’t tried it on an 800, but I believe the connections and controller are the same.
So this bypasses the board all together? I’m having problems with my stock board shutting off when setting temperature
It does. You can replace your controller with this completely. I have seen custom faceplates on auction and craft sites to insert the fireboard on the 560 or 1060
Connected like this and fan no turn on. Connected my masterbuilt drive back on and fan runs, but cant adjust temp. Fuck

will the fireboard 2 work with this mod cause it says only usb charge port is available on this unit
Bullwevul Archlord2Stull yes it does. The FireBoard 2 uses the higher powered usb-c kit. We sell both.
@@TheBBQHQ thanks for the feedback love the video my mb1050 controller keeps shutting off not reliable!
Will this cable work for the Fireboard 2 and the Masterbuilt 1050?
Also Want to know!
@@integlikewhoa They updated their website to include the Fireboard 2. It will work with both controllers
@@Emf50 I believe so but not 100% sure.
@@jeffbaker1 He says clearly in the video that it will.
@@Irespecktyouall Where? Timestamp? I must have missed it.
