It really is a worthwhile mod, been using it since Sept ‘21 and never looked back. YOu can remove the temp dial from the door and screw in the 1/2” NPT ambient probe. It works great
@@TheBBQHQ Awesome. A cook off like you did between the four other grills would be great. They are supposed to give an excellent smoke flavor for a pellet grill.
I have a 1050 and I purchased a Fireboard 2 pro I have my switches bypassed on the hopper and the ash pan door and I have it set to door detection is off. I have it hooked up to a power source so it is rrunning 12v but my fan isn’t working what do I need to do?
Do you have to replace the ambient probe as well? Or will it read from the oem ambient probe in the Masterbuilt? Also will it still run the grill up to the 700 degrees that you can run on the masterbuilt controller?
You need to run an ambient probe from the FireBoard so it can use it for control. The FireBoard pro uses a k type thermocouple which can utilize the stock thermocouple, but I find it easy to just run a separate probe in that it can be placed in a more accurate position. I’ve run it up to 700, but it’s a lot of heat for that grill.
I have the Masterbuilt 800 series and looking at getting the Fireboard 2 Drive. How do I connect the ambient air temp sensor to the Fireboard if it has a two prongs. What's the fix or correct way to attach it?
The FireBoard pro will accept that K type yellow connector that is stock on the grill, however our recommendation is to use a different probe than the stock one as you can try place it at grate level. The FireBoard drive is a different connector, but again placing the ambient probe at grate level gives you the best results.
@@TheBBQHQ I just bought the Fireboard 2 drive from you all yesterday and got one the ambient one that you all sell from a different place because it said y’all were out of stock. Super excited to use it with my Masterbuilt 800
Hi- I bought the cable and have been running using a 5V battery…. Seems to be running fine but are there any modifications you suggest to the settings if using only a 5V vs 12V battery?
Yes, we don’t like that it costs that much either. Unfortunately shipping has become that expensive. We were using usps at a much cheaper rate but we were losing almost 1 out of 2 cables.
Got mine in 21 and never looked back! Fantastic product, especially if you're a control freak like me.
Glad you’re enjoying it!

What is the 1/2" NPT probe?
When is the Char-Griller 980 cable coming?
Exactly I'm looking for the same
Found you guys a couple of weeks ago. Very good videos. Off topic: Are you going to have any videos on the Lone Star Grillz pellet grills?
Thanks for watching! We do plan to do a video on the LSG pellet grills.

which package include the gravity cable for free
Do you have a link for the Pro for a 1050 Gravity
Making one for the master built XT by chance? I have a FireBoard for my kettle and am going to upgrade to the XT
Yes, we’re verifying the proper connections…

@@TheBBQHQ Where do you recommend locating the probe in the MB 1050? Center bottom, middle or top grate/rack?

No modifications with the voltage, just when running off the internal battery your fan speed will be limited.
Will that cable work for the char griller 980
Unfortunately not
I thought this fire board bypasses all the door switches
No, it doesn’t. The cable still feeds through the stock harness.
What if the fan speed wont top 64% even when plugged into a 12v supply?
It’s showing 12v on the display? Are your switches bypassed?
@@TheBBQHQ They are, it seems kind of hit or miss now so I'm thinking there is an issue with my fireboard. The cable works great.
How do I bypass the switches, please?@@TheBBQHQ
With a direct cable, will I be bypassing the switches by using it
Shows out of stock now.
We have fireboards on the way. They should be here next week.
$10 to ship the cable is little crazy,..

@@TheBBQHQ Understand I really want this cable but can't justify the cost of shipping that cost more than the product.
