I tried this watch on and as it is black, it gives the impression that it is smaller than its size. Even on the wrist. That's probably why they have only released this in the large. Added bonus for some is that it has a date. Tried on the stainless steel medium and large, and the large comes across as too big for my 7 inch wrist. Looks like a square block on the wrist rather than the medium which looks more refined and smoother fit. The black santos however, looks in proportion.
@@richardman28 If you have a 7inch wrist, the unisex sized medium looks on the dainty side. They both are square cased watches, so I don't get the block comment. I own the 2 tone 39.8mm and my girlfriend rocks the 39.8mm stainless stainless model. Her wrist is substantially smaller than 7 inches, but the curved design of the case and how the bracelet hugs her wrist is anything but a block. No offense intended, you buy and wear what you want in good health. But the big boy version of the Santos all day.
@@rafaeloliva6425 no offensive taken. That's why we collect watches. Everyone has their own opinions and how they see design. Having handled alot of Cartier santos models in the past, the XL Galbee is the best proptioned in my opinion. I do stand by my comment that the large looks like a block on my wrist compared to the other Santos and my other square case watches. The reason being because of the size you don't see much of the bracelet which is one of the selling features of the watch. Also, every wrist is different as you may have a flat top on the wrist or a rounder wrist which was pointed out by my vacheron AD when I collected a watch and deciding whether the rubber or the leather strap looked better on my wrist. Wear your watches in good health. 👍
Enjoying the Cartier in bad ass black - it looks like it would be equally at home with a Tux or with a Boss leather jacket. I’ve tried on the vanilla white dial and although I only have a 7 inch wrist it hugs the wrist in a very comfortable way. I’d be a little concerned about scuffing the watch and the steel beneath showing through so you’d have to be extra careful with it. But it looks cool. I’d want 20% off retail.
What do you mean Cartier isn't known for their boxes? That's literally one of the most important and recognisable parts of the brand. The box is so nice and one of the best parts of the buying experience.
Thank you for the video. I own the Santos 39.8mm 2 tone, and my girlfriend rocks the 39.8mm in stainless steel. The main issue is that the bezels are prone to scratch easily. However, both of these build materials are easily polished. I'm told the black Santos has a much more scratch resistant finish. But what recourse does a potential buyer have if they do manage to scratch this model? Thank you in advance to anyone that can answer my question.
Cartier all day over a Panerai. The Santos has solidified well over 100 years of a watch that hits on all cylinders. It’s dress, sports, 100m WR, tool, and the first men’s wrist watch. I like the look of Panerai but not a huge fan of their movements for the price. I respect that Panerai also haven’t changed their design though
I have the Cartier in stainless and love it. I put it on that black rubber strap and it’s like a whole new watch. Would love to get the black ADLC version. I also have three Panerai which I love.
Exactly same reason I came to check the comments, dis you get yours? I don't Wana go to the AD and test the scratching, brushed Rolexes are OK, my AP are not and don't like wearing under stress anymore
Santos looks elegant yet sporty. Submersible looks very sporty and looks like a watch that can actually take a beating. I think the Cartier is more versatile, it can be worn with anything. It can be that one watch collection piece, whereas with the Panerai you would need another watch. No clear winner for me personally though, I like them both! But if it would be one watch, then i’m going for Cartier.

For me, a watch review loses a bit of credibility if the reviewer doesn’t know the pronunciation of the brand he’s reviewing: Cartier is not that difficult . Certainly not like Jaeger- LeCoultre !
Before reviewing these beautiful watches, may I suggest to learn how to properly pronounce their brand names? It is irritating to listen to Cartier with an R at the end.
Dude, is all it takes to get under your skin? There is a fine line between correcting and education someone and being a douche. Guess where that comment lands.
Not a fan of Panerai, but I wouldn't call then trash. But 19000 euros for that watch is absurd! Especially when the much more classy and versatile Cartier is less than 8000 euros.
Until the pandemic, gray market and second hand Rolexes and Pateks and the others were always much lower than retail. This insane switch where retail os lower than second hand is caused by gray market and second hand seller companies cornering the market and Millennials making a ton of money of social media. Happened 25 years ago with sneakers. Sad.
