I've watched several OBS settings tutorials and this was is by far the best. I just got a 500/500 plan with a fiber company, looking forward to improving my streams!
Then you select that, but I would recommend to record a test sample to see, if you can hear your voice on both sides of your headphones. If you only hear it on one side then hit the settings icon next to the audio level in OBS, go into the advanced settings and tick mono on the microphone
@@MichaelNROH I can hear my voice on both sides. but the problem is sometimes my voice disappear for a sec or two. idk know why. previously it's all ok until these past few days.
Hi. Thank you for the video! How can I find my Autio Rate (48 kHz or 44.1 kHz) on Windows 10? Edit: I found the answer. -> Right click on Sound icon on the right end side of taskbar > Sounds > Playback > Right click on the device in use > Properties > Advanced > See the dropdown under Default Format
i do have a question when i watch my stream on second moniotr, chrome browser its somekind of choppy compare to phone or tablet smooth and clear could be just the monitor or thank you for answer
Excellent tutorial! I appreciate the detailed explanation and visual comparisons which stands out from other tutorials. Can you do a similar video for the best OBS setup for general video recordings (not streaming) for UA-cam?
We are definitely gonna recommend this channel for technical support. Keep up the good work. Not just too much technical you sound in video is necessary, the technical terms you used for what reason & according to the user, "What they should do?" - This mate tell us in the video. Hats off to you man. Best of luck for your Journey ahead.
This was a good video bro should defiantly keep it up! Your gonna want a ring light or something for your face tho if your giving face to face instructions bro or people arnt gonna stick around KEEP SENDING IT!
Thank you for this video. I was only finding videos saying set this set that but never explains WHY!!! You earned a subscriber - Thanks for that! Keep up doing videos similar to this one explaining why you set a specific setting and what can be affected or cannot.
nice video. I play and record at 1440p. But because I have only 10Mbps upload speed and use Multistream to Stream on Twitch and UA-cam at once, I have to rescale the Stream at 720p 60fps with 7500Kbs, just to avoid blocky textures, stuttering and being less taxing to people watching on their phones or low budget PCs. thx for the tip with look ahead. I had it always turned off.
Great video!! I've seen MANY and yours helped me out with tips, and I've been streaming for a year now. And still learned something new from you. great job :D!
so we are supposed to turn the "Ignore streaming service settings recommendations" but what exactly are we supposed to put on our bitrate?? other question the "look-ahead" and "psycho visual" options are supposed to be both on or off , sorry but some parts of the video were a bit confusing
Twicht inofficially supports bitrates up to 8000 kbit/s. Without disabling the checkmark, OBS would automatically revert to 6000kbit/s. Psycho visual tuning should always be on since it enhances the image a lot. Look ahead depends on the game, say for fps games it's bad, but for slower games it's good
I am having a hard time with my computer being able to keep FPS up without stuttering/delay in the game when I am streaming/live in OBS. I have optimized my settings based on your video but even when I lower the graphics quality down to low my game is still slow to respond. A good example of this is when I stream Overwatch. I have AMD Ryzen 7 3700x 8-core and a Geforce RTX 3070.
I'm glad OBS has become way more in depth with the possible settings at this point. (OBS 28.1 and newer). Lag performance depends on a lot of factors. Usually, the computer is the limiting factor to begin with, even tho settings can matters worse as well. So i dont comment on that. For Example my Video setings have NV12 Color Format (because Turing graphics cards encode on that) Rec. 709 Color Space, as i don't do anything HDR and Limited Color Range, as That is how SDR video is broadcasted to this day, and because my capture Card does recode anything to Rec. 709 on a limited color range anyways. For Inputs however, i stick to video formats and as uncompressed as possible. I dont like the looks of the Lanczos Filter. To me, the Area Filter wins overall. Maybe not the sharpest of the lot, but it does affect the visuals the least, especially with pixel graphics. So usually, i simply stick with that for any scaling. That being said, I try to not do any rescaling, if I can help it, apart from doing output scaling. I record in 1080p, my canvas resolution, and i stream in 720p, with an Area Downscale Filter. My Encoding settings are based on NVENC, as i use an NVidia graphics card. Rate Control CBR, a bitrate of the usual 6000 Kbps, Keyframe Interwal of 2 s, A Preset of P6, High Quality Tuning, Two passes at Quarter Resolution and Profile "high". All of this makes my visualy as good as can be.
If you are on Windows 10, then you don't have the new menu yet. Follow these steps instead: "Right-click the Speaker icon in your system tray and click Playback devices. Select your speaker, then click Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Click the drop-down and it will show you the sample rate and bit depths options" Source: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-change-sound-control-panel-settings-in/5a70718b-7ecf-4547-a64a-22efda8da0c2
I tried it a while back and there was no difference. I assume that all this setting does, is to set pre-rendered frames to 1 to get a better latency, but I think that is the default now anyways. You cannot really optimize latency that well unfortunately.
Hello, dear Michael! Could you help me to solve a problem? When my internet connection goes down and automatical reconnecting in obs doesn't occur within two attempts (obs reconnecting settings are default), in this case part of my stream video since disconnection isn't saving on my youtube channel. Is that OK? Is there a way to fix that? Thanks in advance!
There is not much you can do, except maybe setting a buffer. This however comes at the cost of performance (uses RAM and VRAM) and a higher delay to your viewers. And even then, the buffer won't last forever, so yeah.
@@MichaelNROH Thank you for information! Would you mind if I ask you one more thing? Do you know some widget resource (besides Streamlabs and Streamelements) which has a free viewer counter for UA-cam streaming?
I have a 5800X with an RTX 3070ti. I am using your encoding settings that you recommended at around 8:50 in the video. Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264 Rate Control: CBR Preset: P5 Slow(good Quality) (I do have a 3070TI) My Download = 418Mbps and Upload is 444Mbps I haven't had any complains but should I maybe do 1080 on "base&output" instead? Ive noticed when I take highlights from Twitch to TikTok the quality of the clips aren't looking that sharp. So Maybe I am using the wrong settings here. Bicubic game source and lankzos(forget how to spell it) camera source is what I was told by a videographer! I’m still playing with resolution though. Currently at 936p 60FPS 6000 bitrate. So far so good as an affiliate.
UA-cam provides their own recommendations and supports up to 50.000 kbit's anyway. I would stay between the recommended settings: support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702?hl=en
One thing which happened to me several times is that DaVinci Resolve and other Editors don't like the "Lookahead" feature and or VBR. It can cause the annoying "Media Offline" Error. So I actually disabled "Lookahead". Otherwise, gutes Video!
VBR typically causes more issues depending on the editing software you use. Some older versions of Magix Pro for example, used to desynchronize the Audio over time on videos recorded in VBR.
@Michael Horn i have a question that I’ve been wanting someone who is experienced in streaming obs to help me understand my issue alittle more.So here’s my question you said that your base (canvas) resolution should be on what tv/monitor you are playing on..since i currently have a 3840x2160 right now on my base in the video setting and my output (scaled) is at 720p is that ok to put? And i do have a downscale of lanczos applied..is that a good setup to have set? Do i need to have both Resolutions to be equal to have better quality?
Equal resolutions would be ideal, however it won't work correctly on platforms like this since you need to increase the bitrate by a lot (45000+). You would also need a pretty beefy upload speed. Otherwise it kind of depends on the platform you want to stream to, and your status (partner, affiliate, etc.). From a rendering perspective setting it to 3840x2160 as canvas and 1920x1080 as scaled is easier to downscale because it is divideable by 4. From 2160p to 720p also works fine, but you are slightly less quality. In reality however, it does not matter that much, since 720p on 4500kbit/s tends to look better at fast motion than 1080p at 6000kbit/s. So if you are an affiliate or partner, try out 1080p scaled, otherwise just use 720p and don't think about it too much. It's not that bad
Thank very much now I understand it alot more now..thank you..wanted a clear understanding about my issue and u helped me thank you!🙏🏽 im not affiliated in any platform but wanted to know more information since, im in production in making a gaming channel on youtube to possibly do 4k gaming and doing twitch currently Thank you again for the guidance and assistance through my issue Michael Horn l!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
