  • Margit the Fell Omen and Shardbearer Godrick the Grafted are the first major bosses most players defeat in Elden Ring, despite the open world design.

I feel like I would’ve defeated Leonine Misbegotten down in the peninsula first if I knew that the peninsula existed when I reached Margit lol. Leonine is meant to be the tutorial boss since that a whole area itself is supposed to be a tutorial area to the whole game plus Hyetta quest line is down there but I honestly didn’t even think to check down there in my first playthrough until I was done with stormveil castle.

I even went to the dragon temple first, then went south of the lake, found the guarded path south and still didn't realize I could go that way. It just looked so fortified compared to everything else. I think I didn't even have Torrent yet. So if you go that way first it's like a roadblock. And if you go north and get Torrent then you're on your way to Stormveil already so you kinda forget about going south.

I went south to the beach. Then went east. But I didn't see the dragon, I went further east.
This is because when I saw the sentinel... I didn't fight it. But it actually scared me away from going that way at all and I didn't even go to that church until waaaaay later. lol
So the sentinel actually pushed me on a loop to the east and around the lake counterclockwise. I didn't realize the gatefront ruins were so close to the beginning for a long time because I got there by taking the long way around.

And all of this without yellow paint! I get it in some games but I feel to many resort to it when it conflicts with the setting.

I'm legit surprised that Radahn is the third most defeated. The fact you need to kill him for the DLC is very recent news, it's unlikely to have affected those stats. Caelid is mostly the third region people usually do, Luria of the Lakes being the second ( and clearly easier than Caelid )
edit: I actually checked, steam stats definitely show that people do Luria before Radahn. NThe difference is small though, 60% of players have the first boss of the Luria area, 54.5% have Radhan
, and there's also 60% with the boss of the peninsula south of Limgrave.

Edit: Re-watched the section; I was going off of "Shardbearers" there, IE "Shardbearer Godrick" is the most defeated Shardbearer at 67%, and "Shardbearer Radahn" is the second highest at 54.5%, then Shardbearer Morgott is the third at 50.3% but I'll admit I was going off of steam achieves and a bit of googling so if one of the in between bosses gives a shard I could have missed it.

The forever and ever growing backlog is real.

Absolutely, which is why this year I've been making an effort to take games off the backlog by trying them. Some I like, some I don't but now at least I know.
