This is honestly so refreshing after watching speed runs and challenge runs, or looking up specific builds or whatever. Just watching someone run around the world and figuring stuff out like a normal human being is so nice to see.
I think this summarises how your first playthrough should go. Like this guy did a great job of actually playing the game to it's fullest. Making mistakes, unoptimised build, farming ruins for hours to beat the first boss, exploring and finding cool stuff, falling for traps despite the messages spoiling it and then finally going back to beat those hard enemies and making progress.
This is why I am currently steamrolling through all my ng+s because these demigods will understand the pain I felt when I first got a fireball thinking " oh I have a ranged option now"and still got my ass whooped 😭
Elden Ring was my first Souls game experience and I spent 3 hours trying to beat the first tree sentinel as a lvl 1 wretch, I refused to continue with the game while he was alive and it took me over 60 tries to finally kill him. After getting off I probably had the best sleep of my entire life
Ye obviously not a noob lol Trust me I started out as a real noob it would've probably only been entertaining to even watch me for the rage moments everything else was very slow and annoying to learn but I'm glad I did so worth it this game is amazing.
I've been playing this game now for 2 weeks as a noob... finally started to look at content I already completed to realize I missed so many fundamental game mechanics that would have made combat far more finesse. Being a noob though is so much fun because we never get to play that way again :(
The leveling up to wield Halberd is like a master who tasks you with something incredibly demanding in exchange of the supreme skill, only to find out that the supreme skill is to believe in yourself.
I don’t understand it, what the purpose of giving stuff super high stat requirements only for people to get there and realize that it basically does the same damage as early game weapons with your new level. I guess it’s nice that early game weapons are viable but it hurts so bad to grind for those levels and realize it’s not actually better despite asking for so much more
13:30 The hit sfx synced on the beat with the song was such a nice touch. Your editing is so satisfying because of these little things. Good job, man. 👏
You know you've done it right when someone like me who isn't particulary interested in Elden Ring enjoyed this video a lot. Watching the second one now! Keep it up, all the best!
I've loved how the game doesn't tell you anything really and gives you three areas right off the bat to struggle through haha. I've seen so many different ways and routes to play this game it is amazing.
As a veteran since Demon's Souls I can only imagine what it has to be like not starting with the "most straightforward" game of the series but with the Open World game which has to be the most overwhelming experience of the From Software games. Kudos to your persistence! And great video btw!
I can't tell you how many times I've watched these videos. They are super enjoyable and inspired me to give Elden Ring another chance. Love the series!

Wow, you are a lot better than you implied. I have 60 hours in so far and am level 56 and I struggle all the time. I am making it through but i am still struggling with the mechanics. Your video was hilarious, nice job
Or just equipped it, straight up. The stat requirements in this game aren't a must-have, you only want to meet the requirements if you plan on using that weapon's special ability. :P You can equip any weapon you want in the game, regardless of stats, but you can't use their special ability, that's why the weapons aren't grayed out or missing from the equip menu, but have a red cross on them, means you can equip them, and swing them around, but you can't use their special ability. xD

What class do you recommend for somebody who never played a souls game before. And want to use the mario jump attack with the golden halbert? Loving you videos dude , laughed my ass off ..keep up the good work
The class is not super important because it just affects your starting equipment and starting stats. If you want to wield big intimidating weapons, Hero is a great choice, Vagabond as well, since they have good starting strength.
Just a heads up, you can backstab with light attack when you’re behind, you do more damage with strength weapons while two handing, and two handing a weapon doubles the strength you have. So if you require 30STR, and you have 15, you can two hand it to use the weapon effectively.
Correction: 2 handing a weapon does not double your strength, it increases strength by 50%. So if you have 20 strength, you will have 30 strength with the 2 hand boost. This is why players usually only level strength to 66 for 2h builds, because after that the strength boost will amount to 99 strength.

It’s cool seeing that a new player had a completely different experience from me a month ago. I avoided the Tree Sentinel like the plague at first and refused to give up until I killed Margit with my puny axe. XD I just leveled up as I went along lol.
Bosses surviving with a slither of HP, then finishing YOU off, is exactly why I started to keep projectile weapons like Kukris and Throwing Daggers on my quick item bar on my pure melee characters. And it was Margit that taught me to do that lol. Was in that exact situation you were in, but then it was BAM! KUKRI TO YOUR FACE! and he was dead :p.
that is me, dying so many times, lol. and then I went into the dungeon uphill and died again. I did not know what to do and where to go. hilarious review!!!
I also did the whole "level up enough to wield the golden halberd" exercise. But I'm also wearing all the knights gear from the area right before the gate with the troll and the archer, and the big pumpkin helmet and the brass shield. that helm weighs 12 and the shield weighs 7, and I was determined that I wasn't gonna be fat rolling, so I also had to level endurance enough to carry all that heavy stuff, and I can't be being one-shotted by these little vulgar militia dudes so I added vigor , and I was farming the stones to advance the golden halberd, so by the time I did face marghit I was like level 80 and my golden halberd was +5, and I just sorta blew through him, and godrick and dragon ahleel, all on first attempts, and I'm now going "maybe I farmed too much" But we can't stop there! need to get enough arcane to use reduvia! Today I got the greatbow for beating the chariot in that one dungeon....and I'm resisting farming the faith needed for that
I randomly nailed that bloody cat thing while around level 10 - and in my first hour - having died a load of times clearing the rest of the dungeon to get at him. He is particularly susceptible to the five people thing - instead of using the wolves, which I found in the same dungeon so used against him. Some great ideas, and exactly how I am finding the game having started today, having bought it in the PS Store xmas sale. Great tutorial for numpties like me.
“Every weapon you get, you can’t use.” Truer words have never been spoken.
I mean it doesn’t mean you can be affective with most weapons
