In this video I start my journey in one of the first Souls adaptations created by Fromsoftware, Dark Souls. This is the remastered version to better suit you guys. We begin in a prison and discover that we are a hollow undead and that we must go on an adventure to rekindle the flame as it is fading. I hope this game proves to be a blast like other Soulslikes I have played such as Elden Ring, Remnant 2, and Lies of P.
Dark Souls is a dark fantasy action role-playing game series developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Dark souls is the the first game in the Dark souls series and marks the source material for many soulslikes that exist on the market today.

Yeah, and we veteran dark Souls was so mindblown when first play elden ring saw NPC's mouth moves when they speak lmao
What about Demon's Souls Remake?

@@kuunibyou7642 Yeah, hard to when it got scalped to hell.
imagine calling the Dark Souls a souls-like
Well before that it was Demon Souls 😆
True. I don't consider any of the fromsoft games to be souls-like, they ARE the original souls creators so I just refer to their games as such lol
@@BassPlays902 no. Yes demons souls came before dark souls but its not as popular and iconic as dark souls. The reason its called souls like isnt because its like demons souls its because its like dark souls. Demons souls crawled so dark souls could run. Dark souls is the true og "souls like". Its the reason that name exists so hes right.
@@BassPlays902 Consider that every Souls-like is attempting to emulate what From Software does in their games. They are simply Souls games and everything else is the Souls-like. They are the original. Bask in their majesty.
@Syntherus well we couldn't call elden ring, bloodborne, or sekiro souls games,, and we wouldn't call armored core a souls like, so "fromsoft games" doesn't work either.
Stop being so picky souls like is accurate in the same way diablo is a diablo like and metroid is a metroidvania.
Just because it's the genesis of the genre doesn't make it not within the genre.

14:05 I swear, everyone I watch who plays this game for the first time fails the plunging attack 😂

Either they failed, or they just stood for way too long and then got jumped lol
The tutorial messages tell new players about that. A lot of people out here not reading tutorials, I guess
"hopefully a second dlc" ... I have bad news friend...
"[Shadow of the Erdtree] is the first and last DLC, and we have no plans to add more content to Elden Ring," -Miyazaki .. or so they say
If I’m not mistaken, they said the same with the first dlc
Confirmed, sadly they will not make a second DLC
sequel would make more sense
They really just said they don't CURRENTLY have any plans
The way they make dlc or more content for their games is on a vibe basis
Do they feel like adding another dlc? Not currently
But also if they feel like they know how to expand the story then that's another reason they will add stuff
They also included that maybe they'll make an elden ring 2 they don't know
So it's unknown what they'll do but they could do anything really
Thought I clicked on a Zanny video, was pleasantly surprised to find a random dude playing DS1.
@noahpopkes5853 I am quite random😂
Interesting, I thought the same thing..

You can actually perform a jump attack with the analogue stick. Snap it forward and perform a heavy for a jump attack, perform a light attack to perform a guard breaking kick.
It feels so good to use all of you tools in a fight. A pesky shield bearer you open up, bringing them to their last slither and they beat a retreat only for you to come bounding in and hack them down.
Love this commentary so much, good stuff man!
Edit: WTF YOU KILLED OSCAR????
Thanks! I'm soooorry!

Elden Ring Is just Dark Souls IV.
George RR Martin said Elden Ring is a sequel to Dark Souls.
I’d say it’s more like darksouls 3.5.
@@guardianvalor962Miyazaki said it was not a sequel to darksouls.
@@jackwhite8238
I was trolling. I know it's disconnected. George was just probably confused
Might as well say Dark Souls is Demons Souls 2 then.
It's a spiritual successor to Dark Souls, like Dark Souls is to Demons Souls. Similar but still distinct.
Elden Ring: You have a maiden with you, a horse, and you get some help along the way.
Dark Souls: You’re by yourself and you get no help whatsoever.
Yup. It was a blast haha
Did you notice that all the erdtree avatars have the same moveset as the freaking dark souls tutorial boss? Took me 3 attacks from an EA to notice lmao
The pot belly gave it away for me on EA #1 (who took me a few attempts)
You killed oscar you monster
I am sorry, but Miyazaki has confirmed there will be no second DLC
How could Michal Zaki do this to us
Wasn’t this obvious from the start? It literally took them 2 whole years to develop the expansion, that’s as much time other studios use for a whole game.
And the content turned out to be as big as a whole game. It's basically worth two expansions. At least.
There is no way they will waste another 2 years for another ER expansion, it would push the development of their next games too far back. And there is also no point to release a small scale expansion, after Shadows of the Erdtree the expectations would be way too high, so anything that doesn’t at least match it would fall on flat ears.
He said they don't plan on making a second dlc or game
They also say that often
Ds3 was never planned to be made until well they thought of a way to finish off the story for it really
They operate on a vibe basis
Do they feel like making a second dlc? Not currently
Do they plan on it right now? No
But if they think of a way to expand the story they'll either make a dlc or if it's a big enough concept then they'll decide to make a whole other game
They specifically said they don't want to say they won't make another elden ring dlc or game but for now they aren't planning on it
@@SketchSkarLive they specifically said that there would not be more DLC, but didn’t discount a second game
@@Detriax if that's the case then that makes sense
Honestly I don't think they could create more talismans and stuff to make exploring worth it in another dlc
What would they do dragoncrest +4? Might as well make another game just for the sake of progression
Mans just ended Oscar. Rude!
I have never been so sorry in all my life😂
Elden Ring seems hard... until you've played with its badass grandma where you don't get an on-demand jump button.
They didn't really come that far, but I don't blame the devs because making something even slightly better than perfection is still a great achievement.
I love the simple "What does that mean??" reaction to Cannot kindle while Hollowed. Reminded me so much of my own first playthrough all those years ago xD
Really love how the asylum demon teaches you that if you hesitate, you get punished. Succeed or fail, but act and LEARN from it.

@Turnips Yeah I'm a bit of a child🤣 Thank you!
When you return to undead asylum, you can trade stuff with a crow in that bird nest. You have to drop specific items and there's a huge table on what it accepts.
I'll keep that in mind!
Some tips from a DS veteran.
1. Since, you're going for a strength build (objectively the way to play the game, unlike stinky Elden Ring with its Dex, Int and Bleed builds), get the Zweihander (The Bass Cannon) and just profit. In this game, it's the best weapon to use with its ability to flatten humanoid enemies like a pancake.
2. Get poise! Get the heaviest armor set you can and just tank through the bosses' attacks like they're a joke. Unstoppable Force gets beaten by an Immovable Object.
3. Yes, the nest with two bird eggs was a merchant. It trades some items to give you good stuff, once per unique trade.
4. Humanity is the number on the top left corner of the screen besides the health and stamina bars. It determines, how resistant you are to poison and other statuses, item discovery. When you use a humanity from the counter at the top left, you can become human by reversing your hollowing, which will make your character look like the one you created in the menu. It will also allow you to get invaded by NPCs and other players. The MOST important thing it does is that, it allows you to kindle a bonfire and make it stronger and give you more estus flasks whenever you rest at that specific bonfire. This game doesn't have a Golden Seed/Estus Shard mechanic. You have to kindle each bonfire for you to get the larger amount of heals every time you rest. Firekeeper Souls are like Sacred Tears and it upgrades your Estus Flask.
5. Every time, you see a boss or "bosslike creature" with a tail, attack the tail to get a special surprise.
Anyway. I'll stick you in my prayers. A fine Dark Soul, to you.
@mahirbhuiya Thank you! I will try my best to apply these tips in my playthrough!
@@BassPlays902and the zweihander isnt overpowered like some other weapons
God bless the Zweihander :' )
🤓
@@BassPlays902 when you find a black knight, don't kill him. Reverse your hollowing and the more humanity you have, the higher the chance they drop their weapons. Black knight swords and axes are some of the best strength weapons in the game.
The "Dark Sign? What do you mean by that?" Comment got me. It is a pretty powerful metaphor, expanded especially for Dark Souls 2
I'm on my way to DS2 just slowly 😅
@@BassPlays902 you'll get there!
The first time I played DS I somehow couldn't see the door in the tutorial boss. I kept fighting with the broken sword and screaming like "Is that so? It can't be so weak. Or maybe that's dark souls? I heard that is dark souls, it's supposed to be so hard".
I couldn't see it because I wasn't used in that kinda of 3rd person camera, even later when I came back, I was so confused, I was beating that boss but thoughgt my view was inside his body or something, like wtf am I supposed to play this.
But that was the very first time I played any DS like game. Previously I preferred 1st person perspective in games and I had better sense with that one.
p.s. Also in retrospect, fights and everything is so slow and strategic and methodic than modern Dark Souls from DS3 to Elden Ring, where it feels quite different to me. I find it a very easy game comparably. And still my favorite because I like it's world and I love more exploring those areas and getting all the stuff than spectacle fighting bosses with endless attacks where I still don't understand how/when is your turn to attack back. I am playing Elden Ring and finish bosses but I feel like I learn nothing, like I accidentally somehow survived. While in DS1 I can easilly see attacks and avoid them and improvise.
You know, the developers were so good for locking the boss door.
"I'm getting schwaka-doodle-dandy here" - that's when I cracked XD =))

Jank is 90% of the difficulty in this game. It is our greatest opponent, and we have a love/hate relationship with it. The other 10% are 4 direction rolls and weapons bonking on walls.
Also, using the word completed for Elden Ring and its DLC is a good word, since there's a summon there instead of a naked character with a colossal weapon, it doesn't count as beating it :P

Ds1 tactic, parry the world
Hey man, enjoyed the video, but I read thru the comments and didn’t see anyone else say something about this yet, but it would be a huge help to yourself if you went into the settings and changed the jump from ‘B’ to Left Stick. Having it on B causes you to jump in fights a lot when you meant to roll and it can mess you up. Like what happened in the asylum demon fight.
Hope you enjoy this game! It’s a true masterpiece through and through.
Hmmm I will play around with some controls then! Thanks I will try my best!

Yes I am...
Dark Souls 2 scholar of the first sin is the hardest game in the series
there's even a covenant that increases the game difficulty

I think I died more to malenia then any ds1 boss but I ABSOLUTELY died more to mobs in ds1 then died at all in Elden ring.
Pretty sure I lost a controller or two to the catacombs. I can run it immediately w no light now I died so much lol
Yeah, before i played new guy here to the Souls community, i played DS1, 2 and 3 for the first time over the course of 2 months in this year before i touched Elden Ring, i can say that once you're used to the faster bosses and jumping availability, you learn how easy Elden Ring is compared to everything that came before. Maybe that's why i 2 tried DLC Radahn in my first run-
I started playing this and I'm lost as hell. Rung the first bell and I'm lost in blight town. Found a big ass Dragon at the bottom of a tree full of buff Toads.

Nothing can be easier than Elden specially when you beat it co op
So far, the ONLY bosses that have given me any serious trouble have been Margit the Fell Omen, and the Draconic Tree Sentinel. I JUST killed Morgott The Omen King earlier today. I haven't really been fighting any optional bosses yet. I'm sure there are way harder ones, but besides the two I mentioned I pretty much beat all other bosses I've fought in an hour or two. That Draconic Tree Sentinel was brutal. It took me over 2 weeks to get past him
Oh, you're playing Dark Souls 😂 whoops
Bosses in elden ring get alot worse, I beat them all apart from elden beast, which is just a piece of shit tbh, ruined the game for me
First?! Demons souls would like a word with you.
6:36 that would be the stray demon brother. you can actually fight it during the game through a somewhat out of the way method
@quantumtp5872 Hmmm I must find this somewhat out of the way method to fight said Demon🤔
bro just stopped reading the tutorial messages meant to help before the asylum demon fight ASJDKF but in all seriousness I'm loving the vid
Sometimes you just gotta fail without help😂
You shouldve took the pendant as the start gift. It is great. I did it on my first plat. Video ends equals start of the game lol. Read items it does help more than in Elden Ring. Ill sub if this continues. I love seeing first plays of DS1. It makes me have so much nostalgia.
Is there a key to open the door to the left of that boss? I’ve never found one
there is, on top of the Firelink shrine building with a messy jumping to do
the reason why the undead curse is so much more devastating than you think is because with every death and the more you give up hope the more memorys you loose until you end up with super dementia and the curse also spreads like the common cold and once you have the curse it never goes away. the whole game is about you trying to do what gwyn did originally which is sacrifice yourself so everyone and everything goes back to normal stopping the curse temporarily for like 5 thousand years or so.
Yeah that is a terrible way to go...So don't you dare go hollow friend!
That boulder hits every first time player...
Beat elden ring and also started dark souls for the first time.... game makes me more mad than elden ring did lol
Ah yes the clunky feeling, and you can't jump in this oneXD
dragons in darks souls: near immortal beings of awesome power, very rare creatures to find
dragons in elden ring: merely pretenders, weak and a nuisance anytime you find one
For myself as a dark souls veteran I have to say that Elden ring is the easiest one.
I will say that you can plunge attack in this game and sometimes they have animations. just saying this since you read like every other tutorial message in the asylum except for that one xD
Thank you! In the video I am posting next I found that out 😆
If you want to get the most out of your Dark Souls experience don't choose the master key. If you don't have the specific key for a certain door you're not supposed to go there yet.
You'll usually find out you aren't supposed to be there wether you have the master key or not. If you unlock the door the insane difficulty curve is going to tell you that you shouldn't be there yet
Bro puts endboss fight right at the beginning of the video, had to shut my eyes really quick xD
You got got to the door before dying and you whooped Asylum Demon even with his sucker punching nonesense. I am actually playing both this and Eldin Ring with diffirent friends at the same time. One thing I cracked up at was "wish I could jump attack", literally just thought in Eldin Ring the other day "Don' forget to use your jump attack!". It is awesome to see someone play them in the opposite direction.

Kings Field was the first FromSoft game like this. DS1 is so good. Elden Ring has hard bosses, DS1 is just hard to play. I effing love this game.
Its actually slower to kill Oscar than to blaze through his dialogue
For me! The Dark Souls series usually starts hard and then becomes easier, Bloodborne starts a bit easy(as long as you are careful) and then become harder,Demon Souls is more levels are easy-Mid at first and then very hard and the only bosses that are hard are Man Eater and the Penetrator(Weird). Elden Ring seemed like a spectrum. Very easy to very hard at the end with Malenia giving me an existential crisis as it just seemed I could never defeat her.
Naah souls 1 is ridicilously hard. People say bloodbourne and Sekiro are harder, but for me Sekiro was the easier.
EG < DS3 < Sekiro < DS1.

@@BassPlays902 You're welcome.
I just feel like I have to say this; the original is better than remastered. Even on a 360. The lighting, the bokeh effect, the shiny armor and weapons, the ethereal bonfire animation, the item glow, the actual fog doors instead of a texture - there is just no comparison.
Hope you have fun, but there’s such a noticeable difference with the original version. This is honestly a terrible remaster that butchers so many of the artistic elements of the original release.
@HPRshredder Maybe one of these days I'll get to play the original...Maybe find a lonely box copy at the local GameStop...But until then this is what we got haha and thanks I'll enjoy it as best as I can!
@@BassPlays902 It isn't a very big deal tbh. It isn't a HUGE change even if they butchered it. There's a guy making a mod called Re-Remastered that's moving things back to the way they used to look and then improving on it which is neat. The biggest downgrade (IMO) is armor materials... metal is very flat and you can see the black texture on visor slits n' things reflecting light which they shouldn't. (...also it made the world green for some reason.)
