[MHFU] Tigrex vs Dual Blades (5★ Village) (Urgent Quest)

- My first run with Dual Blades that I recorded was terrible.
I knew it, maybe I was just tired, so I practiced again today, watched a couple of videos for some tips/tricks/inspiration, and I found some pretty awesome techniques.
The main thing you want to do here is hit Tigrex with your first hit of the triangle combo, and the last hit of your demon dance (it does the most damage), anything else is a bonus. The demon dance can be timed for when he turns around, though you have to be careful when he's enraged, if you're even a little off, you're probably going to get hit. I cut the tail because I had already hit it a bunch already, might as well get an extra carve.
In between all of that, be careful not to get hit, watch the video for the timings and positioning you should try for. When you lose your green sharpness, flash bomb Tigrex to sharpen and rebuff with your seeds and the power juice (they both the same amount of time apparently, 2 minutes) You don't really need to use rations, you'll have infinite stamina anyways, and running up the mountain faster by not taking rations might mean catching Tigrex is a better zone, like area 6.
To make power juice, combine rare steak and catalysts. Catalysts are made by combining honey with bitterbugs. They're extremely useful, I might even say essential for using a weapon like dual blades.
For rare steak, you can kill the 3 popo in the 2* snowy mountain gathering quest 3 times, for a total of 9 popo, and 18 carves. Bring a BBQ spit and take the meat off the fire sooner than well-done steak. I can maybe make a video about it sometime, we'l see.
Avoid his charge by rolling to his right, under his arm.
If you can consistently roll through the roar (I understand if you can't) you can potentially do this fight a bit better, but you have to be careful, it's not an easy thing to practice, to be honest, unless you're on an emulator with save states, but even then, it can get really boring just training for the timing to roll. I think I only rolled through one roar in this video, but each time I roll, is about he timing for the roar. Don't worry about it too much, it's a very advanced thing.
I was suprised in my testing that I'd start the fight and do a couple of demon dances on his head and he'd be down 1000 hp. I was not expecting dual blades to do so much damage, especially in this low rank. Pretty neat. I'm obviously not a DB user, but...... this might change things, kinda like how I feel with Bow as well. Not sure. We'll see. Making these videos has definitely made me take other weapon classes more seriously, and i hope I'm reflecting how to play them decently enough, just keep in mind I'm most used to what I'm most used to :P

Yeah, back when I played there was a lot of info online (like gamefaqs guides in particular) but there wasn't a whole lot of help for beginners, or at least not any that was relevant to someone just starting out or still progressing/struggling through the game. I hope I can sort of fill the void that I felt when I first started :P
This game is really quite good, I'll try and keep making these videos while I still have things to do ;P

I think DBs vs Tigrex is more managable than some other weapons, but I'd still prefer a big shield to hide behind 😊

One thing u teach me was How powerful the LG bomb + is on mhfu, I alaways use them now, my last Tigrex Hunt went really smooth with trap bombing.

It shouldnt be that hard, db is not a bad matchup against tigrex,
I've had much harder time using bow in p3rd against tigrex simply because tigrex is too fast when enraged unless im using pierce.

Tigrex roars are pretty close range, I was just rolling "through it" as an example of like, when you would roll if you want to try. I might not have rolled at a perfect time each time, but I think it was close enough.
I don't really use DB much either. I show my equipment and items at the beginning of the video each time, these DBs have the highest damage output at this point of the game, they're the "Pink Maracas+" which are kind of annoying to get, you need 4 Vibrant Pelts, but I figured if you want to use DB against Tigrex, you really need to bring the best stuff that you can for it.

My guides are set up to help people with the base version of the game with no DLC, no multiplayer, no felyne comrade, etc.
You should be fine following along if you're on a PSP. It's not really easier or harder necessarily, it just depends on your familiarity with the controls, people can get used to all sorts of input styles.

Dual blade sharpness is ass in early game, i constantly need to sharpen it and forced to use demon dance to not bounced off.
I do like it, but i swear half of the time i spent is sharpening when i solo gh.

Yeah, it's rough... You definitely want to keep your sharpness up, within reason.
I'd recommend getting Sharpening Skill Inc, it takes 5 grinder jewels if you can fit them in your set, but without Sharp Sword, which can be a hard skill to come by, it's definitely pretty rough lol

Yeah, like Xiven said, you can use GS as well but he will be jumping around a lot. Anything you feel comfortable with, and since you should hopefully have better gear now, farming Congalala should be faster.
I dunno about making a video about it tbh, maybe if I make a video covering breaking various monster parts, but you just have to fight Congalala and break his head. It's kind of an uncommon drop.

Dual blade is the weapon I despise the most. Once attacking it somewhat cannot be stopped from dancing around even tho the enemy has already been out of reach by the first hit. And you can't block, it needs to get very close to enemies, it's hard to dodge at close range against high mobility boss, also it has somehow low damage. No thanks, I prefer gunlance instead or lance. I've been using lance the most tho.
It's not that bad, kinda has a bit of a reach problem though, like SNS, for sure.

So, I couldn't help but notice you blow through resources for minimal payoff... ( ͡◉ ͜ʖ ͡◉) For the general audience, I wouldn't suggest this, especially if you're not the type to get COMFY with the farm and supplemental gathering. Unlike the newer titles, you really have to work for those Shock/Pitfall Traps and every kind of Bomb. There are most certainly hunts later in the game you'll be throwing resources at, and it'll hurt to have nothing left because you wanted to shave a minute off each of your 80+ Low Rank hunts.
I'd like to know just exactly what you'd consider me overusing resources is? This isn't even really worth me explaining myself to be honest, you're kind of just talking out of your ass.

The best thing to do if you see comments you don't like is to not respond. You might not realize it but you have many fans that look up to you. You would want them to be toxic don't you?
And yes I do believe that this is an optimal amount of resource you can use for a dual blade. I use Sns and in my first runs I just always bomb Tigrex, but in later runs when I have mastered Tigrex I fight with only Potions, Mega Potions and Whetstone. Might not be the same but DB and SnS are low damage weapons so I made the comparison.
