Funny story- Back in the day about 30 ears ago, a friend & I were on a 5 day canoe/fishing trip in the Minnesota boundary waters area- time flies when your having fun so before we knew it, we realized we had to head back to the canoe rental at night because we were behind schedule. It was a clear night with a full Moon so we had great visibility- otherwise we would not have attempted the night time return trip. So, we are paddling away having a jolly good time marveling at the night-time scenery and how quiet & peaceful it was-
When all of a sudden, KERSPLASH! then another and another-what the heck? we were so far from shore that I reasoned it HAD to be a Bigfoot! as no human can throw a rock that far!
So, we were panic paddling thinking a BF was chucking big rocks that were just missing us- when I happened to see the big Beaver tail whack the water in front of the canoe- Kersplash!
We went from Oh sht panic mode to laughing our asses off in two seconds :) Yeah turns out we paddled right through a bunch of Beavers who were enjoying the night air just like we were lol we likely spooked them a bit too.
The rest of the return trip was uneventful & we made it on time :)

I hope Minnesota clean up the oil sludge and pollution that the baby Sasquatch step on. The clams are probably toxic now. It's poisoning the wildlife including the beloved Sasquatch. I hope the Sasquatch families are okay. It will be a big loss if they die from the pollution caused by the stupid humans.

Good one. Well over 40 years ago, a friend and I canoe camped on the banks of the Snake River in Southeast Idaho after a day of duck hunting from our canoe. We awoke in the night to a racket being raised nearby, but we had some powerful flashlights with us and were quickly able to bring them to bear on the source of the commotion: a porcupine was climbing around in a scrubby little juniper tree about 20 feet away. Now, having heard THIS story, I'm glad that a porcupine was all that we saw! Cheers.

Great story once again. I live in Hermantown MN and I caught a photo of a Sasquatch in one of my landscape photos of a lake I hiked to. A year later I zoomed in on the tree line to take a look and there was a tall one looking over the shrubs and a small one looking over the tall grass. I had no idea they were there other than feeling like I wanted to hurry up and turn and go back to the trail head and it was starting to rain a little harder.

What a great story! I'm from Minnesota and have gone tent camping 45+ years. I have had many experiences with bears, deer, moose, elk, bison, antelope, mule deer and coyotes, spotted wolves on the opposite side of the Athabasca River (thank goodness) in Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada, and may have possibly had a Dog Man walking around our campsite on two different trips and in two different state parks: Custer in South Dakota, and Ft. McKinley State Park in the UP Michigan.
I figured Big Foot was more in northern Minnesota but never thought about the possibility of a population on the St. Croix. My dad and mom took me and my siblings canoeing many times on the St. Croix and we did weekend island hopping but never camped overnight and never had a spooky experience like the story you told.
Thank you for another very entertaining episode!

Thanks for this story. I can attest to the idea of Sasquatch on and around the St Croix River. Just a few days ago I had what I can only describe as an encounter. It was at a camp site just about a mile from the St. Croix. It wasn’t scary, well not too much. It never threatened me. I think it was just curious. It was not siting, but a hearing as in noises. There was one of these same clam shells on the edge of this camp site. I thought it odd that the perfectly cleaned out but not polished.clam shell was so deliberately placed there. I took it home. Now it’s even more special. Yes they shake the ground when they want to. This was was more playing with me like it was running in place.

Great storytelling Chris. The sound effects & voiceovers made me feel like i was right there in the woods. The whole story hit home for me because I had a older native woman tell me something almost similar as far as camping near a river and fishing. Summarized, a bunch of people have boats that they go out on for a specific time period and alot of her people would stay & camp never the river for the fishing season. She happened to be in a camper van (no windows in back) napping. She was asleep & happened to be awoken by someone throwing rocks at the side of the van. She thought her family was messing with her, so she yelled out "knock it off" but that didn't work, the rocks kept getting thrown. Then she realized nobody was laughing or gigg1ing. She said she froze instantly, because she knew right then it was 'Sassy' (That's what she called it, most likely the name coined by the Lummi Nation). Within seconds, Sassy took ahold of the top of the van (she said she could here where they placed their hands) and they started rocking the van back and forth from right to left, so hard she thought the van was surely going to be pushed over on its side. She stated, she didn't say anything & she didn't scream. The rocking thing happened 3 more times & it scared everything out of her. Then she could hear it start walking away and splashing in the water. She thought the whole ordeal was never going to end. She said, she didn't move & she barely dared to breath. She waited patiently for her family to come back ashore. When they did, they were mad because they found all their fish that they were going to eat that day.....Gone. They thought someone had just walked riggt into their camp & stole from them until my old friend told them "no, it was nobody but Sassy'. She had a few more of these stories from childhood but for some reason she steered clear of disclosing those ones.
With Dave's story, it sounds like they might have been in Sassy's fishing zone. The big guy, stomped because he was having a serious tantrum about his & his familys food source being taken.

🔥 A little constructive criticism that is also a compliment. I like when you, Chris, tell the story straight through without interspersed audio from your guest. That way is a much more relaxing campfire experience for me. You're such a great story teller!!! You do every story great justice, yourself!

Did anyone else see that bright light in the background just over his right shoulder? It was a single bright light shining off and on. A car light in the distance? Someone walking around? Was it an orb? Really enjoyed the sounds of the river rushing by.

I always enjoy your stories, and when you add the interview of the people who experienced it, it's great! Thanks again for another good story.

Love it, Chris! Great job! Makes me think of the small islands in Broken Bow Lake in SE Oklahoma. There's a story of a sasquatch encounter on kne of those islands where some boys had to run for their lives and barely escaped with a squatch chasing them. So guess the sasquatches like the islands. Thanks for the awesome story!

@@basecampchris Yah, bought a lot in Bena a few years back and had two come through while in my little camper startled by my presence. Sounded like a ten foot owl hoot and a female chimp gargling chatter back then crackingnd and crashing through the woods. Lots stories I heard from locals too.

I love your stories. I am kind of a skeptic when it comes to sasquatch but the number of the stories coming out is too big to ignore. My next door neighbor's property borders on a large state park at a section that is in all but name wilderness. Sometimes it gets creepy to be outside at night, like I'm being watched. Could be a sasquatch. Could be creepy humans. Could be the regular wildlife but it does give one pause. We're in the critters's territory. They aren't on our property.

Hi Chris, Wow, what a Hair raising Story. It sounds like they picked the Sasquatch’s Bedding grounds or at least their Kitchen. Anyway, at least they were able to get out of there ok. It sounded like them hanging around to Fish, was more than the Sasquatch could put up with. Thanks as always for another Great Story Chris. Be careful out there and carry some Protection with you, preferably something that goes Boom.😁👍👍
