Hey I'm trying to grow them from seeds in Arizona in a pot which place in the backyard would be better to put the pot with the seeds please answer back and I enjoy watching your video
You can grow dragon fruit (DF)from seeds but it would take a long time to produce fruits unlesss they are yellow (DF) which are hard to obtain a cut. DF is originally found in Israel , it's a type of cactus which like to be in direct sunlight. I would suggest you to buy a mature cut either online or know someone who is growing one. In Southern California people are growing red( usually smaller in size) and white dragon fruits in their backyard. If you can provide a link to your Facebook, I will message for more information.
I LOVE Dragon Fruit! My granddaughter has 3 acres of them on Maui they started all from cuttings!
I felt so much joy when you opened the dragon fruit up. It's beautiful, congrats!
Jake, you're amazing. You're honestly a role model. You deserve millions of subscribers. People need to change their ways and learn from you to grow their own food to live healthy. Our food industry is absolutely terrible. Thank you for your videos Jake, you're my biggest inspiration and reason I garden organically. I'll always continue watching your videos and hopefully I'll get to meet you in real life some day.
Panther359 thank you Panther looking forward to meeting you someday!
Yeah no, our food industry isn't wrong, nor is it wrong to eat animals, we have the teeth we have to eat flesh, not to eat the food a cow or rabbit should be eating.
Yes, some of the industry is brutal, but if you think about it, it's the only way to get things done. Also, what reasoning is there to become vegan? You get less nutrients, less calories, your muscles become deaded if you don't concentrate on eating only X plants because they're the only ones with protein and calory.. it makes absolutely no sense.
+RedSpawN - Omg you really need to do some research buddy.

I just clicked join group. thanks for the invite
These are the moments we all wait for in our gardens - totally mind blowing yes :) I love the shape of the plant and Leo's hangout too, just soooo pretty!
I agree Sally! Thanks!
I've been waiting for three years, but I still haven't seen any flowers.😢😤😧🤡
Not a vegan myself, but your videos are pretty entertaining.
its so vibrant the camera can't deal.
This is the first time I see that plant. This is beautiful!
Thank you for showing this video and I am glad what you did in the other video worked because I am going to pollinate my red dragon fruit tonight. I have two flowers opening, can’t wait.
I agree it needs more sun, another hour or two would make a big difference. Also, I have had several types of dragonfruit and must say the variety called "Dark Star" is my favorite. You can order it online.
It’s a pink variety
There is also a super red variety that is for the most part self pollinating :)
That was awesome!! I'm in Florida and have had my dragon fruit for a couple of years. It began to bloom a few weeks ago. The first one opened, but I did not pollenate it myself. The next one, I did. Can't wait to see if it took!
man I'm jealous of your garden and all your fruits and Leo!
You're one of my 3 main UA-cam gardening-research go-to channels, along with Growing Your Greens and Plant Abundance. Buuuut, given I also live in Southern AZ, your info is directly relevant to the way I tried (and try) to develop my garden.
Really cool that you got it to fruit! I have noticed though that when the "wings" for lack of a better word on the fruit are not quite that plump, the fruits are much more sweet. Not sure if the bugs would get to it first if you let it get ripe like that so take this with a grain of salt. Happy Gardening!
Jake I have been catching up on watching you in this channel! What you did in Arizona is amazing and it's exactly what I would want to do as a Horticulturist
Very nice!!! Beautiful dragon fruit.
I'm watching, you cut the dragon fruit open.... pause. wow! I want to cry! Jake, I love gardening'n I love dragon fruit also! After ate a yellow dragon fruit last year on Feb. some day, I planted several DF seeds, guess what? Right now in front me is a baby DF plant, so pretty. I'm waiting for her to grow up'n to give me some dragon fruits! That's why when I'm watching your video I'm so exciting! Jake, I know some Chinese people who successfuly grew a self-pollination dragon fruit and weighs more than 1 1/2 LB
Congrats Jake! My little dragon fruits are only 1 year old now. I have two more years to go~ Your beautiful plant give me hope!
How is it?
That is incredible! By far the most stunning dragon fruit I have ever seen! ! Very beautiful!
I know you're not there anymore, but was wondering if you still had access to get and sell starts from that plant, or if you could FYI all on where you would turn if you were lookin to get a new start of that variety ?
Hey I’m really late here, but if you see this, I have a dragon fruit plant that’s a clone from Jake’s dragon fruit in this video. Let me know if you want a cutting! 🐉
That looks so amazing!!! I've just started growing my own Dragon fruit here in Australia-Queensland on my balcony (Fingers cross!!)
You and your wife certainly deserve your long awaited yummy dragon fruit!! :) Cheers!!
Very nice dragon fruit plants !
Man I'm so jealous! I've had my cacti for 4 years, but do to moving frequently have no been able to grow mine that big. I so want mine to fruit.
Wow! Southern California here. I bought a grafted cactus on top of a dragonfruit base. The cactus died in the cold last Winter do now I'm growing the base and it has two large stalks already. You give me hope that I may one day have a whole dragonfruit plant :-)
3 years for a fruit?
Lol, i give up before i even started 😂😂
I bought a 3 lbs bag of frozen dragon fruit at Costco for $10.00. I think that’s a lot faster.
@@robertlakey6374 and a whole less tasty as well
I have eaten white and red dragon fruit, but not a purple one. I love the red one so far.
Awesome video.
First time hearing your wife's voice ahah
sir that's so delicious :) im so jealous' & your dragon fruit shading style techniques - so nice style, thanks for given me an idea sir :)
Congratulations!!!!! Three years in the making, ha! GOOD!
Wow, the colour of that dragon fruit is so intense and it looks so juicy! Yummy!
02:12 - I cut it open and see WHAT IS ON THE INSIDE???
Your dragon fruit looks so delicious 🤤
Beautiful looking fruit. Those plants look tough to grow, but very rewarding. I wish I lived somewhere where I could grow one of these!
The cutest rabbit ever!! :)
They grow wild here on hot dry surfaces..including cement and lava rock Most people know the flower but not that it is edible dragonflower... night Blooming cereus
Yep looks delish! But if you made a smoothie in a blender most of the seeds will end up at the bottom. If you are close to a Lee Lee store or another Asian store Dragon fruit will be available in the ripe season. They have food from over 30 countries. Sarap!
You described the texture really well, but I was super excited to hear you describe the taste and you let me down. Could you reply to this comment when you have a moment and tell me, please? I've only ever tried the white flesh variety and I found it kinda bland.
I live in Las Vegas. Do you think I'd have any luck growing one?
I was waiting to hear about the taste also
Hey! Here in Egypt we would cut or top off that pomegranate tree and keep it short!!! Harvest the fruit easily!!! Never prune from down! Great video!!!
Wow that was a long wait for a single piece of fruit... you have a lot of patience. Hopefully your dragon fruit plants are taking off by now and producing tons of fruit so you can enjoy the fruit of your labors a lot more! I live in the high desert of California and just planted a dragon fruit cutting. Now comes my turn to practice patience lol.
Very nice colorful dragon fruit!
31.000 subs now Jake, congratulations! And a nice video btw :)
Thanks Magzor!
That fruit is beautiful. I’m going to try and grow one myself. By the way, I love your rabbit.
My one having flower for the first time within a year.
3 yrs to get the first fruit? It took me 3 yrs too for the first flower to appear. How is it some people get their flowers within a year?
See, I wanna try this one. I've never had the magenta dragon fruit. Imma have to bite the bullet and order some online.
Such an AMAZING Dragon Fruit Cactus, its absolutely BEAUTIFUL and so happy that your pollination was a success and you had a fruit :-) it looked delicious and I bet it tasted AMAZING too, your Rabbit is ADORABLE :-) thanks so much for sharing and sending heaps of love and happiness from Ireland XXXX
I have a red and pink dragon fruits..the red tastes sweeter than the pink one..I heard if u cut the tip of the Dragon fruits growing tip it's force them to produce more flower.
I heard it should climb a vertical support and then should be bent down.
Lily Hau - I heard the same!!
Wow, what a beautiful dragon fruit.
Wow such a nice environment in your garden I love to see your video thanks for sharing.
you have green fingers that grow so many fruit plants!!
Next yr if you have several to eat, have a Arizona Dragon Fruit Celebration Party with Date Lady, Tree Guy, other fruit growers, etc anyone who helped you get what you wanted. Celebrate your success with friends : )
That looked delicious. We don’t have dragon fruit in grocery stores in Pittsburgh. ✌️
What a gorgeous dragon fruit!
I'm.sooo late but better late than never. your just so awesome. xx
Awesome vid! Just got a dragon fruit plant at Lowe's any tips on how to get it to grow
REALLY very good garden and handsome man i like it👍👍👍👌✌
My dragon fruit plants are fat. I have one bloom maybe tonight from one plant and one from another in a day or two. I'm going to try your techniques of saving some and pollinating with its self. Cross your fingers
The flowers are tasty too
My favorite dragons fruit
My country, Indonesia. Banyuwangi city which is in East Java is producers for red and white dragon fruits. The grower is sometime have to thrown away the fruits because is the price is falling down. The red one is sometime is sweet sometime is plain but white one is ok. My family favourites is red one 😀
I am wondering how much did you water your dragon fruit plant in Arizona? I feel like I'm overwatering mine.
That must have been one off the most amazing tastes
Yeah dragon fruit plant needs a lot of light!
DAMMMMM my mouth is watering 😱
Vibrant and beautiful. The weird thing about pitaya is that there are so many varieties and hybrids...I wonder if that's a dark star variety? Hopefully, you get more next year, cheers!
He has a pet tortoise. :- D I would paint it a pixelated camo.
Was it sweet? Tart? A mix of the two? You just spoke of the texture and softness of the seeds but not the flavor of the fruit
You never said whether it was sweet or bland tasting.
Kind of life that make a guy like me envy
wow ur garden is amazing, its has a great display...
I think cross pollination of cacti doesn't mean two different varieties. It means two genetic clones, i.e. two seedlings from the same fruit would work. And regarding your videos, they're awesome.
Chubs needs a friend. Get a bunny friend for him.
i love watching your videos... i love fruits i love harvesting hope to visit ur garden :)
for dragon fruit, how do you know which pollen to go with which pollen? or do you just take the pollen from one flower and put it into the other flower? is there a male and a female? thanks.
It might be a small fruit because it is self fertilized. Many plants set larger fruit when they are cross polinized.
The red variaty is way too sweet.
that looks amazing and super nutricious
I'm beginning dragon fruit farming. Guess what? I've got a sulcata, also! Thanks for the videos.
Hahaha damn you need to show me alot of that since I do wanna grow some fruits and vegetables in my house.
Omg 😮 what a beautiful fruit
Jake great video. What variety is your DF. I’m in South Florida and I’m wanting to start growing DF to add to the many other tropical and sub tropical fruit trees that I have.
I have a couple starts. What side of the house do you recommend? Ps I'm just south of Tucson
That is awesome!! I am growing some hope to see that soon :)
Cool Jake! I will try this fruit some day.
What's the difference from White and Red inside dragon fruit is it more sweet red.
Oh gosh! I'd love to try that!!!
Amazing fruit!
It's very good cold, refrigerated.
There are 3 dif varieties white ,red, and pink
That rabbit was cute
Your dragon fruit needs much more sun, the more sun the better, or else you will get minimum fruit.
I love your videos! ❤❤
Awesome piece of fruit!
I was afraid it was going to fall off the spoon before you ate it. I'm jealous I want a dragon fruit Cactus!
lol...cute comment 😊
LifeisaGamble I had the same thought.
+VOTE4TAJ right! lol it was almost too suspenseful for me. I can't look 😣
I love your garden!!
i plan to plant it also
What do you do on the winter months I live in rio rico arizona
