What is GAD and how do you know if you or a loved one is suffering from it. Watch this informative video to find out more information about GAD.
Are you worried all the time? Are you consumed by worry every single day of your life-about EVERYTHING? Do the most mundane things in life make you worry and/or are the bigger things in life overwhelm you constantly? If you are persistently worried 24/7 then you need to listen to this video and learn more about how anxiety impacts your life.
There's a disorder in the world we live in called Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). GAD is classified as a psychiatric disorder. GAD is characterized by an ongoing sense of worry, anxiety, and fear that interferes, disables and disrupts your usual daily life activities. It can be debilitating. Watch this video to learn more and to find out what can be done to resolve your constant worrying.
GAD is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and in my video, I discuss how to battle this disorder. GAD is a very uncomfortable disorder to endure on an ongoing basis in your life or the life of a loved one. It is important to note that often the symptoms can be confused with a number of other disorders, such as:
    1. Depression - those suffering from depression are anxious all the time but do not necessarily suffer from GAD.
    2. Panic Attacks - causes cold sweats, it also makes you feel like you are about to die, and it causes shortness of breath. Panic disorder plague 2% of the population that suffer from it but it isn’t GAD even though those suffering from it feel anxious in between attacks on a constant basis. Those suffering from panic attacks are constantly worrying regarding when the next attack may come along.
    3. Agoraphobia is the fear of going places - such as seating in a crowded theater or getting inside an elevator.
    4. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - causes people to have flashbacks, nightmares, and it consists of a different cluster of symptoms than GAD.
    5. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - causes one to feel anxious because they believe they have not done enough things to avoid the ‘bad things’ they anticipate happening to them or their family. For example, constantly washing their hands so they don’t contaminate food they are about to eat.
    6. Social Phobia (or Social Anxiety Disorder) - are people who get extremely anxious around other people. One of my patients with extreme social phobia resolved the issue through TMS treatments. Please listen to the video to learn about his unique case of GAD combined with the social phobia disorder was treated.
Learn more about GAD's symptoms which are typically associated with excessive feelings of worry. Usually, the most common symptom for GAD is simply just worrying all the time about everything and anything especially when it is totally and completely unnecessary.
Why and how should you treat GAD? Those suffering from GAD should definitely seek treatment for their well being. GAD causes people an overwhelming feeling of real deep suffering and it typically starts when they are very young but the pain is just too strong to endure. We discuss in this video your treatment options and what medications are recommended for GAD. Some medications will cause withdrawals when you stop taking them and therefore treatment plan needs to be chosen carefully.
At times those suffering from GAD try to resolve their anxiety by turning to alcohol. Alcohol is abused by those suffering from GAD because it causes a person to feel "normal" and diffuses the feelings caused by GAD. Substance abusers and those suffering from depression can also cause one to develop GAD. In this video, I give examples of different patients I’ve had and how we resolved their GAD.
If you think you or a loved one is suffering from GAD please listen to my educational video. Also, if you liked my video and find it informative please share with family and friends and don't forget to subscribe to my channel to get notified when I post new videos.

Raymond, For permanent transformation reach a state of mind where nothing disturbs you. Your breath is directly related to your mind causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety sit on a chair, back and spine as erect as possible, hands on your lap with palms upwards, close your eyes and do nothing. Be as still as possible and observe your incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-20 minutes. Plenty of thoughts will come but slowly negative thoughts will reduce. The mind is slowly reprogrammed to relax. The good news is that simultaneously other ailments in the body are also healed with this daily meditation. Do twice daily or as per your convenience. Practice not over-reacting to daily real life situations. Avoid watching negative TV channels. Do the above meditation daily without any expectations and doubts and your life will transform. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Interesting ending - SSRIs just make people flat..they don't have an edge on things. Well, is there a such thing as normal - having an edge but not being anxious/depressed for those who have these conditions and are taking meds? Do you keep switching meds if the previous one poops out?

    Hi Dr
Great video! Im 52 was placed on klonopin 22 months ago for panic attacks and health anxiety 0.75mg at bed time.
Im on a taper for the past 2 months down to 0.25 mg at bed. My problem is sleep for the past year. I can fall asleep but can't stay asleep for more than 4 hours. I truly believe its from the klonopin. I was prescribed Doxepin, Remeron, which were awful just kept me up, and so tired.
Im looking for something to help with this, I practice good sleep hygiene, exercise, eat good, dont drink or smoke.
Anything out there can help insomnia thats natural? Or non addictive? I hope my taper sounds good? Getting through it
    Thank you
    And God Bless All

I Dont worry.. Went through a traumatic period with mother having ALZ and passing away two 1/2 years ago. then I was diagnosed with GAD. Been just about every SSRI SNRI's , cylic anti depressants over the past 3 years .. Nothing has worked. Has a paradoxical effect on me. makes me more activated. Finally I was put on Lexapro. It is the only med that I could tolerate for more than two weeks or two days. Been on lexapro for 8 weeks, has helpded with mild deression, feel more alert , however , feeling more hyped up/ everyday from morning to bedtime.

Many people have different experience when it comes to Xanax. taphpharma.com/product/xaxax-2mg/ To me, Xanax is the
most commonly used meds in short-term management of anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder or generalized anxiety
disorder. It has been used by several members in my family and the results are always satisfactory. I am a living example.

Hello doctor, wonderful insights as always, thank you for that.
I am male, 41 yrs old.I have had severe gad for 10 years. Hellish situation, marginally functional at work and personal life.
All the ssris poop out after some months. Tried snri's, too activating.
My md figured that we should try escitalopram now once more ( tried it 5 years ago, did nothing then).
Surprisingly ,i am on escitalopram 20mg for 6 months now and anxiety/ gad has been reduced by 75-80 percent.
I also take a benzo called bromazepam as needed ( usually 1,5-3 mg 5-6 times each month).
I also take 40mg of lipitor , atarvostatin i believe is called.
Do you think lithium 150mg every other day or 2-3 times a week would be beneficial for the remaining 25 percent of my gad symptoms and overall shielding of my brain situation as a whole? Is it a safe and effective option? My kidneys are in good shape, nothing weird as per my recent bloodwork done.
    Thank you in advance

Hi, I have GAD, PTSD, and panic attacks. I've been on 6 mgs of Xanax and 10 mgs of Ambien for 25 years. I've never abused my medication. My doctor is taking me off of all of my meds against my will. I also have agoraphobia. I never leave my house, except for grocery shopping and doctors appointments. I am scared to death that I am going to die, coming off of these meds or go insane. It makes more sense to me, if it's not broke don't fix it. But as I said this doctor, is hell-bent on taking me off my meds. She said the DEA is red flagging her because of my medication. She said that President Trump is cracking down on benzodiazepines and z-drugs. I'm terrified. I live in Pittsburgh PA and I cannot find a doctor to help me. After I am done coming off of my meds, the pain, hallucinations, both auditory and visual, disassociation, severe nerve pain, insomnia, can't stand noise or lights. Not able to eat or bathe myself. I will be better off dead. I wish I had a doctor that understood. God bless you and good luck.

@mickey mousey123 This is called "Vippaasna meditation" practiced all over the world with several centres and totally free of charge. As I have transformed my life with daily meditation the truth is that daily meditation or medication with side effects are the only permanent solutions for stress, anxiety or panic attacks because the misfiring of the neurons and serotonin levels have to be reprogrammed for permanent joy. The best part of the meditation I told you is that other ailments in the body {if any] are healed simultaneously. Just enjoy and do the simple meditation I told you for 10-20 minutes if possible twice a day and see how your life changes. But meditation must be enjoyed. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir.
