I totally identify with the worry becoming the problem and how it can paralyze you. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's crazy how mental illness can make a person suffer in unimaginable ways.

Honestly, this has been happening to me for 3 months now, I don't know how to help myself with this, I'm not sure if I have GAD, but I can say that what I'm going through is hell, I'm going through pathological worry 24 hours a day, I look at everything negatively, I'm afraid of everything, the voices in I'm afraid I'm going to die, my heart starts to hurt, I have headaches and pain in my stomach, I'm afraid of everything, I've even gone out before, now it's hard for me somehow, I feel the safest at home, I have nightmares from which I can't even sleep, I wake up suddenly and my heart is abnormal I'm pounding, so even sleeping is no longer an option, this has become a nightmare, I don't know what to do, whoever I write to can't answer me about this, could you give me some advice and what's going on here, thank you

It sounds like you're going through a very difficult time. It's possible that you may be experiencing symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or another anxiety disorder. However, only a mental health professional can make a proper diagnosis. In the meantime, there are some things you can do to help alleviate your symptoms. Here are a few suggestions:
      1) Practice deep breathing or relaxation techniques when you feel anxious. There are many apps and resources available that can guide you through these exercises.
      2) Challenge negative thoughts. When you notice yourself thinking negatively, try to question the validity of these thoughts. Are they based on facts or assumptions? Is there evidence to support them?
      3) Try to stay present. When you find yourself worrying about the future, try to focus on the present moment. Use your senses to ground yourself in the moment, such as focusing on the sensation of your feet on the ground or the sound of your breathing.
      4) Stay connected with supportive friends and family. Reach out to loved ones and talk about what you're going through. Sometimes just talking about your worries can help alleviate anxiety.
      5) Consider seeking professional help. A mental health professional can help you develop coping strategies and provide additional support.
Remember that recovery from anxiety is possible, and seeking help is a sign of strength.

I've had this for years. I think I would have benefited more in the long run if I had been treated for my anxiety rather than for my depression, as even when the depression lifted, the anxiety was still there.

It's been 4 years, intergenerational trauma and narcissistic abuse together at the same time made life unbearable: recurrent panic attacks, muscle pains, disrupted sleep, ruminations, more muscle pains. Couldn't find a therapist that could figure it out until recently, but I'm just beginning therapy. My relationships suffered too much and I couldn't even see it from the inside. Now it's my first week on pregabalin and 2 SSRIs and I feel so relieved. I should have done this a year or even 2 years back! Oh yes, and I WAS overeducating myself and making lists. I make lists incessantly.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a common condition that is characterized by excessive, persistent worry and anxiety about a variety of things. People with GAD often worry about things that most people would not consider to be dangerous or threatening, and they may find it difficult to control their worry. Symptoms of GAD can include restlessness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and feeling on edge. GAD can be treated with a combination of therapy and medication, and many people with GAD are able to manage their symptoms and lead fulfilling lives.

I was on benzodiazepines for over 17 years because the SSRI's didn't work. I think it's important to note that a couple of the Atypical Antipsychotics such as Seroquel and Risperidone are used off label and are effective for GAD when other options have been utilized but have failed to relieve symptoms. The Risperidone along with the Buspar works for me just fine. I found it interesting that benzodiazepines are generally not prescribed for GAD considering I know a lot of doctors where these are their first line of treatment. It was a very interesting and informative video Dr. Carandang.

Can anxiety make it to where your mind is racing/unable to focus 24/7 you can’t even think of what to cook? Can it make your head feel foggy and pressurized? Unable to even play with kids? Unable to tolerate lights and sounds or being in public? Couldn’t be in living room with family over holiday it was too much stimuli. Seen several drs and most think anxiety. Can anxiety honestly make it unbearable 24/7?

I have GAD. After 23 years on and off prescribed Xanax consumption I'm slowly waking up to the fact that I may have been a full blown benzo addict. Although I always took smaller doses than recommended and never exceeded that and never ever took Xanax even the day before I was supposed to have a beer or something; I consistently needed it to function through a week. Today I suffer from tremors, extreme muscle tension, movement disorder and memory loss. I tapered off by own initiative and finally quit. It's been one year clean now and the withdrawal symptoms are still strong. Feels like I'm short on Gaba. Some sources say benzo withdrawal can be protracted and last for years. Don't let my story become yours.

Both my parents have been diagnosed with Major depressive disorder and Panic Disorder. My dad is diagnosed with OCD and My mum was advised by our family therapist to get diagnosed with that. She also has PTSD.
I have been diagnosed with Depression but I refuse to believe it tbh it'll take a long time but I'll accept it and move in with therapy. I have GAD which is why I clicked on this video and it's crippling and I can't look outside or talk on the phone without fainting, I have a lot of other disorders but the genetic component is with my C-ptsd and i suffered and was diagnosed with OCD when I was younger although just have impulsive thoughts and 'grown out of it?' I'm studying psychology as much as I can and plan to study it in university when I pull my life together enough to take my gsce's.

Can severe gad cause derealization, detachment feelings? Also sounds are too loud, lights too bright? My head always feels ljke it’s in a fog and I get moments of feeling detached. Lights are too bright and I’m super sensitive to all sounds 24/7. Not just with high anxiety. I’m also very jumpy, on edge. Ruminate/worry 24/7 about how I feel.

Im 99% convinced I suffer from GAD. Since I was a child iv felt the same way you have described in this video. I'v never been to the doctors about this because I always believed I could over come it on my own and without medication. And I always thought no one would understand. Because I'v told many people about it and all I get is man up or just calm down. It's getting to breaking point now, iv lost so many good jobs to this. I'm 28 and I genuinely carnt see any point in carrying on like this. I'v made a choice to make an appointment at my doctor's next week. But I'm not very optimistic.

I have general anxiety that leads to depression. I was on escitalopram(50mg) and it worked wonderfully. However, I gained 40 lbs so I tapered off. I tried fluoxetine and that sent me into depression after one pill. Now, I am taking 150mg of Sertraline. I have only been on 150mg for 3 weeks. I started out at 25mg 2.5 months ago. I also take Buspirone 7.5mg twice a day. The depression is gone but I still have a little anxiety such as the globus sensation. Should give the Sertraline more time or switch to a different SSRI?

I to have general anxiety disorder it is crippling and lonely and very frightening to be battling with your thoughts over and over again until it makes you physically and mentally drained I feel stuck and no amount of re assurance I get I still panic that if I do start changing my thoughts into more positive one I then start to worry more as I'm losing control of the old thought
People haven't been very nice to me either as they think I'm a paranoid freak and that I go on and on and on if only they realise how upsetting and frightening to me then should hold back before they say anything and makes me feel like and out cast so that again will make my anxiety worse.i wish I didn't suffer this way I can't enjoy life I seem to just exist it's a losing battle and one I can't control god bless everyone who is suffering and please don't use negative comments to someone with gad because I bet you deep down in them they wish that they did suffer from this debilitating illness either it's not there fault and they are just as worthy as everyone else xx

My husband is suffering for severe anxiety. He has not worked since September. He has been in and out of outpatient support groups. He was recently discharged because the hospital does not know how to treat him. He tried to admit himself into our local ER last week, and they were confused how to help him. We have had every test under the sun. He has become hopeless, and has mentioned suicide. I don't understand why he can get the right help. He has been on Klonopin for more then 7 years. he can not get a correct dosage that makes him comfortable, or it has stopped working. He is not able to function without it. He will not take any other meds due to side effects and how he will react causing more anxiety. Plus he has had a DNA test to see what meds may take, and the list was very short. My thoughts are he needs to be somewhere where he can get of Klonopin and get on a more effective less addictive med, but where can we go to get help?

    • @AnxietyBoss
      @AnxietyBoss  7 років тому +2

If his anxiety is severe, then I would recommend that he sees a psychiatrist. Klonopin (clonazepam) taken for more than a few weeks can lead to other problems, like benzodiazepine abuse and dependence.

Thanks for this video. The most troubling symptom I have is inability to fall asleep. When night comes flight or fight automatically kicks in and I’ll even twitch as I fall asleep. Have Xanax and Trazodone, but they don’t always work and sleep quality is very low. Any suggestions for more specific medications I can discuss with my doc? Would CBT be useful for this type of physical symptom? Need my sleep.

Doctors dont ever give out benzos anymore. I've been to 4 different doctors in like a 6 week period tries busipar that was horrible I was on celexa before and got into bad habits and quit taking them. Now trying lexapro. On day 3 now I have eaten very little the past few days I've taken days off work the past few weeks which is VERY unlike me in 8 years I've only taken maybe 10 days off and I feel like I'm going nuts even though I know my mind is just tricking me. I wish this on absolutely no one. Physical pain is nothing to this I wish I could just have some physical pain instead it's absolutely horrid. Hopefully meds kick in much sooner than 8 weeks. Send some prayers my way to make it there without a mental breakdown

I've had GAD since age 13. . I was on a whole bunch of different medications until age 21. Ativan, zoloft, xanax, lithium, risperidal etc. I did CBT for three years. Nothing worked and I was always a zombie with so many meds. I figured out the real reason behind my GAD is because of my childhood trauma and unstable upbringing. None of these will be a permanent or a complete fix. I am sure many agree with me that these methods barely even work. I am going to look into EMDR, DBT and others that are less well known and that seem much more efficient.

It is possible for anxiety to cause physical symptoms, including chest pain, although it is important to note that chest pain can also be a symptom of other, more serious conditions. If you are experiencing chest pain that lasts for more than a few minutes or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea, or dizziness, it is important to seek medical attention right away as these could be signs of a more serious problem such as a heart attack.
In general, anxiety can cause a range of physical symptoms including:
      Chest pain or discomfort
      Rapid heartbeat
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      Dizziness or lightheadedness
      Nausea or stomach pain
      Muscle tension or tremors
      Sweating
      Headaches
      Fatigue
If you are experiencing chest pain that is not relieved by rest and that lasts for more than a few minutes, or if you have any other concerning symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention right away.

So once you got gad that's it, its just how your brain are wired and you dont can do to much to help with it? No real recovery from this? I have gad in My early 30's. I can't understand if something can come as disorder can not be put back in order? Or we are simply born like this?

    • @AnxietyBoss
      @AnxietyBoss  Рік тому

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a condition that can affect your life in a significant way. While it is true that the condition is often thought to be related to the way your brain is wired, that does not mean that recovery is not possible. There are many effective treatments for GAD, including therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes, that can help people manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
It's also important to note that the causes of GAD are complex and can involve a combination of genetic, environmental, and life experiences factors. So, it's not simply a matter of being "born this way."
It's important to seek professional help if you are struggling with GAD or any other mental health condition. A mental health professional can help you understand your condition, develop a treatment plan, and provide support as you work towards recovery. With the right treatment and support, it is possible to make significant progress in managing GAD and improving your overall wellbeing.

It's prescribed for Generalized Anxiety Disorder. For some people, this medication works, and it does not have many side effects. For many others, it does not work, but at least it does not have side effects.
