In this video, Dr. Berg discussed the carnivore diet and how it conflicts with the recommended 7 to 10 cups of vegetables.
If you have bloating, constipation, SIBO, or any kind of digestive problems, you definitely don’t want to do a lot of vegetables. One of the benefits of a carnivore diet lowers insulin which could improve a lot of conditions.
Vegetable has Phytic Acid or IP6 is an anti-nutrient but it also has very powerful anti-cancer properties. Doing the carnivore diet will improve insulin sensitivity which is going to increase the absorption of all nutrients.

As someone who spends alot of time outdoors, collecting wild edibles, I can guarantee you, even in the height of spring and summer, you will not find 7-8 cups of leafy greens a day, let alone for a group of humans. Most plants I consume outdoors in their primative form usually require leeching, cooking, or processing or they will kill you. Plants are something humans would eat opportunistically while trying to catch fish or game.
Honestly, practice bush craft, study and memorise natural edibles then go outdoors for 2 days trying to find them. Even after 4 years of doing this unless I come across maybe 2 cups at most even when I am spending all my time locating plants before heading back my camp at night.
Don't get me wrong, native edibles are probably some of the tastiest plants you will eat(sometimes dangerous if eaten too often), but meat, fish and sea food is going to be your vastly primary source of nutrients and calories.
Watch the TV series Alone, the contestants that lasted the longest in the wild were the ones who could obtain fish and meat. Even the ones who were very knowledgeable on plants starved until they quit or were pulled out.

Not a great argument. You are saying we should not eat 7-8 cups of readily available greens because it is difficult to find them in the wild if we were to live like our early ancestors. Im wondering what your motive was for commenting this. I mean you surely would have to agree that eating 7-8 cups of vegetables is in fact healthier than eating 1-2 cups of vegetables. What is your point here? Im confused.

I love doing Carnivore which I just started about 1.5 months ago. I lost a little over 100 lbs just intermittent fasting before trying Carnivore but I was having enormous digestive issues that, though improved with the intermittent fasting, never went away and I couldn't figure out what exactly was causing the problem. I was afraid of Carnivore because I couldn't imagine my life without fruits/veggies but after reading so many success stories regarding how it cured digestive issues, I had to try, had to. The results have been absolutely amazing, amazing! All of my digestive issues have gone and it took less than a week and I had been suffering for YEARS!!! Nothing else came close. Weight is coming off again (I still have a bit more to go), I feel great, I mean really great! My cravings are totally gone and I don't even get hungry any more. I'm doing the rolling 72 hr fasts and it's so easy that I'm astonished!! I don't worry about calories or nutrients of any kind. I know, maybe I should, but I don't because even when I was eating fruits/veggies and taking vitamins every day, I didn't feel anywhere close to as good as I do now. So what is the truth? I don't know who to believe but I know what makes me feel great and it's the Carnivore diet so I'd be an idiot not to stick with it. If I should drop dead, I'll at least say I sure felt good up until I fell. I listen to the experts like the good Dr. here and others but if everything they say is right, why did I feel like crap? And now I feel fantastic and I'm 66 so it's not youth, lol! I'm staying with this until I either drop dead or I start not feeling well anymore. That sounds logical to me.

DR BERG Why are you juxtaposing kale, chicken, and fish on a carnivore diet? A more appropriate comparison for this dietary approach would involve kale, beef/pork, and fish. When considering Dr. Clemens' paleo keto diet recommendations, he emphasizes four-legged animals over chicken, which has led me to question the reliability of your information. It appears as if you might be advocating for a high-vegetable diet, which includes consuming ten cups of leafy greens that may potentially be contaminated with pesticides. It's essential to acknowledge that not everyone can cultivate their own produce or trust the organic label, as I've personally encountered seedless lemons in organic products, which raised concerns about GMOs. Trust in such food is only established when grown personally.
The comparison of chicken to beef is rather misleading in the context of the carnivore diet. It would be more pertinent to contrast the nutritional profiles of kale and fish with liver or beef for a more accurate assessment. Furthermore, I encourage a side-by-side comparison of your diet with the paleo keto diet to clarify any potential misconceptions. There seems to be an underlying perception that there is an agenda to promote veganism, and your diet might be perceived as partly aligned with this notion. I suggest examining your dietary recommendations against the diets typically followed by centenarians for a more comprehensive understanding.

I had been getting sicker and sicker and having less and less energy. I'd been having brain fog and terrible ADD, unable to focus enough to accomplish anything. I had anxiety, depression, etc. Your videos have helped me SO much and I appreciate you taking the time to make them! I also had severe ridges across my thumbnail...deep grooves going across it, and even my regular doctor had no idea what caused them and told me it was nothing to worry about!! A video of yours that informed me that it was a B1 deficiency changed my life. I added B vitamins to my diet and guess what...my nails are perfectly normal now!! Thanks to you, I no longer have anxiety attacks, insomnia, nail deformities, ADD symptoms and I have now lost 36 pounds. I have no cravings for junk food or carbs at all. I have no desire whatsoever for fast food. I feel like I'm finally getting my life back! So, thank you so much!

After reading and viewing MUCH information… I have come to the following conclusions (which are simply my own layman’s opinions):
    1. Humans should probably eat only once a day, but no more than twice. Intermittent fasting is our natural state and our bodies truly thrive under these circumstances - including periodic prolonged, and occasional dry, fasting.
    2. Humans are omnivores that have evolved to survive on any combination of animal and plant foods. Although we should probably eat approximately 90% animals and 10% plants… just like lactose, our bodies have evolved to tolerate more plants in our diet since the dawn of agriculture. (Population growth would not have been sustainable on animals alone IMO. The change was necessary for long term survival of the species.)
    3. Today, each individual has different needs, comfort levels and tolerations - there is no single right or wrong way for everyone.
Therefore, I intend to alter my personal diet accordingly:
    1. One Meal A Day most days. [Autophagy is of the utmost importance!]
    2. Fresh, natural foods only - mostly animal-based.
    3. Drink water, coffee, tea, milk only.
    4. Minimize grains, starchy vegetables and sugary fruits as much as possible.
    5. Eliminate processed or packaged foods, added sugars, and alcohol as much as possible.
    6. Fast 1-2 days per week (water and dry fasting interchangeably).
However, the general public is too easily overwhelmed and confused, and has a total lack of self-discipline. This is where I believe all of you "experts" are missing the boat. Normal people leading normal lives need simplicity:
    1. A single 4-6 hour eating window per day of 1 or 2 meals. The earlier the better (preferably before dark).
    2. Eat any and all natural, fresh foods and drinks in any portions desired.
    3. Minimize everything else (packaged foods, sweets, alcohol, etc) as much as possible.
If everyone could receive and live by these 3 simple guidelines, the world's overall health would improve drastically. KISS!!
Maybe you can do a video for normal people. 99% of us are not health nuts or gym rats. The strict regimens outlined by all of the "experts" are conflicting, confusing, and definitely overwhelming! Plus, most are presented as an "all or nothing" approach.
Give the world the easy answer... "How to live longer and healthy as a regular person!"

Since I was a child my preference has always been for meat and cheese, I hated vegetables (except for maybe corn, which isn't even really a vegetable, it's a grain). I've tried many diets over the years, tried to force the veggies because I was told "you have to eat your veggies to be healthy", and my preference at age 60 is STILL for meat and cheese. I'm not eating 100% carnivore today because I love my coffee and I do add things like mustard and spices to my food, and I will admit a fondness for an occasional plate of mushrooms that have been cooked in butter (and mushrooms are not vegetables either lol!) All this to say I feel really great at 60 years of age, and definitely feel my best when I stick as closely to carnivore as possible. The only foods that have wrecked havoc on my body over the years have been the carbs I ate in my early years (caused some autoimmune diseases), and the veggies I tried to force myself to eat (cause me terrible, umm, bathroom issues shall we say). It's wonderful when you get to the point in life where you're willing to listen to YOUR OWN BODY!!

I appreciate this video Dr. Berg. I do agree as you stated that a carnivore diet may work for some. Just as I believe that a vegan diet may work for some. We should listen to our bodies and be humble enough to realize that what may be working for a time may not work for the long haul. Again being willing to change things up if needed. Regarding SIBO; I struggled for years before figuring out that I had SIBO and had also developed several food sensitivities. I had attempted to alter my diet several times but what really helped me was taking 2 drops of therapeutic grade oregano oil in a tsp of olive oil 1-2 times a day for about 2 weeks with drinking 2-4 ounces of plain Aloe Vera juice 1-2 times a day. Slow motility is often a contributing factor so NOT snacking is critical along with digestive enzymes, ACV and or HCL with pepsin and bile salts to help with digestion. I then realized that I really needed to focus on the stress in my life along with balancing my hormones and healing my cells. I can now eat my Healthy Keto plan without pain and get my 7-10 cups of vitamin, mineral and phytonutrient rich veggies in each day and the food sensitivities have cleared up! Thank you Dr. Berg

I don't think you need as much nutrients on a carnivore diet because they don't deplete as quickly from what I have read. I have noticed from others such as myself that it is a lot of people coming over from the Keto/IF fasting community so when we eat we are not eating a lot of protein because I do one(OMAD) solid high fat protein meal and I am good. The nutrient dense like eggs, Ghee, Oysters, Sardines, olive oils with muscle meats and so far so good in my eating windows and so far so good.

I have coffee and cream around noon and I'm good until supper. I use No Salt in my eggs, which is just potassium chloride. This is an elimination diet for me. By March/April I hope to know the veggies that I can start planning for our own summer garden. I am one that also has sluggish digestive system and too many veggies do a number on me. I plan to do more microgreens/sprouts once I do kick back into greens again. I will be stopping the wheat grass juice for this time, but plan to continue with your electrolytes. I need to keep up the Vitamin D/K combo you provide also. For me 7-10 cups a day = lots of huge kidney stones, surgery and made me question all this wonderful talk of veggies. The Dr. does the surgery then hands me this list of what not to eat and tells me that meats are okay to eat but most veggies are not. But then on the other hand they say meats and fat will kill you. Listen to Keto people and they say eat meats, fats and veggies. Carnivor says nope, veggies will hurt you so only meat. I lost 240 pounds on Keto and have kept it off but trying to get others in my family to loose the weight they need to has failed because you can not get a striaght answer on what is right or wrong. I think you have to just try it all out on your own, keep notes and see what works and what doesnt for you.

I like a lot of your stuff Dr Berg, but I honestly think you should eat what makes you feel the best, I think stress from mental thoughts are far more powerful and increase longevity more so than food does. Stress is the ultimate killer and until you reprogram your subconscious mind to good thoughts, you will never reach your optimal health no matter what you eat. I ate the most nutritious foods and got worse and worse and nothing improved until I stopped caring about what I ate, how sick I was, and what others thought and expected of me. I was literally on my death bed and thought any day I was gonna die, I'm 29 years old. Buddha, Jesus, all the religions that preach about meditation and just being and not worrying about things, are the most important thing to be healthy, the mind is far more powerful than anything on this earth. It can kill you and it can heal you and I'm living proof of that, I feel better as a carnivore too so if I die ima die feeling better instead of miserable and eating meat tastes a lot better than greens, plus I haven't had a kidney stone being a carnivore. Keto gave me my first one because of that the greens, the stress prolly aided in it as well because when we stressed none of our bodily organs function properly.

You can't not stress if you're deficient in nutrients and minerals. In fact when you are truly healthy you don't get stressed out, you deal with even difficult things with a lot of ease, that's how we are supposed to be in nature. So telling someone to simply "not stress" and be careless about their diet is terribly stupid.

If you start seeking good thoughts, you better be ready for bad thoughts as well. Mind has no boundaries. Egoistic mind always gets caught in the opposites like likes/dislikes, good/bad, love/hate, profit/loss, beauty/ugly. No matter what life throws at us, if we can face it without getting swayed by opposites of life, then we are at the highest level of consciousness. Only thing which separates us (microcosm) from cosmic consciousness (macrocosm) is our ego.
It is never human vs nature or universe. It is always human = universe. It means everyone must seek personal and universal ethics/balance. Violation of personal and universal ethics/balance leads to more cause and effect or karma which leads to individual ego identity or independent existence or reincarnations. So, if we eat a vegan diet just for our hunger, then there is no karma or cause and effect. Eating carnivore diet violates both personal and universal ethics/balance especially when there is availability of vegetables. Ultimate goal of humans is to become one with the cosmos (based on hindu metaphysics) which will put an end to karma or cause and effect or independent human existence or cycle of birth and death or reincarnations. Christian salvation is different.

@@maggotmeatballz2692 you need to learn more about the mind, don't tell me you have to eat this or that, I ate every super food under the sun and nothing helped until my mind state changed because your body responds and acts according to your subconscious mind. In serious learn more about your mind the more you stress mentally the more nutrients you need. You have to learn to be uncomfortable to allow the stress that is stuck in the body to be released. You have to accept the pain or discomfort and not focus on it. You can believe what you want to but I know for a fact my health never improved until I got away from negative people and changed my mind state to gratitude instead of focusing on what was wrong and what hurt. Question: How do you measure a cup of vegetables? Serious question, I usually weigh my vegetables in grams, I think this way measures quantity more accurate based on weight than volume. Here’s why, when you place vegetables in a cup there is loads of free air space, one piece of Kale could take up the whole cup, if you chop up the Kale your weight quantity will increase but the one cup volume remains the same but the total grams per cup shot up. Therefore do you chop, press down, loosely pack or what is your method to be balanced and accurate? Thank you in advance, I track everything I eat so this is important so I don’t mess it up.

Dr. Berg, none of the nutrients in plants do a body any good if they can't be broken down and absorbed. For me, 1 cup of kale is like eating Styrofoam. Throw in the fact that I had so many food intolerances to different plants (and insoluble fiber in general) and there was no way to figure out which was what by the process of elimination. I had to eliminate ALL of them, then reintroduce.
PLEASE hear me, sir. You're a good man. Intelligent and curious. Please open your mind just a little. It's important that you do, because you have many of the other keys to putting this wellness puzzle together. Without you and the gallbladder formula, I wouldn't be where I am.
Teach people how to do it right. Create a Dr Berg Carnivore Multivitamin and Mineral. A Dr Berg Phytochemicals for Carnivores if you feel that they are that important. Heck, I'll buy it!
You keep saying that 'I haven't seen a study' showing the harm of vegetables, but if all the researchers think like that, those studies will never be done. NONE of my doctors considered that it was the 7-9 cups of veg I was eating that was making me sick. And I've got a pretty good team. Three gastros didn't make that connection. Two specialists in colorectal surgery didn't put that together. (One actually recommended that I eat MORE fiber. I followed her suggestion and nearly died.)
And the veggies were hurting me. I'm getting better just by eliminating most plants. How many other people are suffering because no doctor will even consider that plants could be connected to their illness? How many of your patients have unrelenting lower back pain that doesn't respond to physical therapy or steroid shots, or pain management?
*90% of my lower back pain turned out to be referred pain from the gut.* Went away when I eliminated plants and my intestines began to heal. Took two weeks. I was NOT anticipating that at all.

      @vociferonheraldofthewinter2284 5 років тому +2

Here's my story. I put it separate because it's TL:DR
On the keto with lots of veggies, I totally reversed my PCOS and pre-diabetes. I had "beautiful" insulin levels. But I also had the worst diarrhea for 19 years (IBS). That developed to an ulcerated rectum (it's as unpleasant as it sounds) and that led to three operations. I lost my gallbladder. The poor thing was full of white blood cells and histamines in the muscle tissue. I developed Scleroderma and had constant malnutrition. The fibro and joint pain was unbearable. Constant lower back pain crippled me. And this was clean keto. I did it right. I had dropped 20 pounds from surgeries, with keto I dropped another 30. So I'm NOT bashing keto, but it did not get me home.
ONE WEEK of eating carnivore and I lost 6 inches off my waist in inflammation. (I maybe broke wind once a month, so I can't say it was gas. And yes, I was taking a variety of probiotics.) It took 3 months for my guts to heal completely and for the bleeding to stop. I was heading back for butt surgery #4 and if that didn't work, the only thing left was a colostomy bag. I don't need to do that now. My joint pain is gone and my scleroderma is in remission. Not only that, but after three months the hard, abnormal skin is starting to soften. One of my knuckles is almost completely back to normal. Fibro pain is about 50% improved and that's a miracle. Calcium deposits in my skin have dissolved. (Thanks to not eating oxalates) GERD is gone.
I discovered that 90% of my lower back pain was referred pain from my gut and so that improved more than I would ever imagine. I was heading to an implanted TENS unit. (I say again, *HOW MANY OF YOUR PATIENTS HAVE UNEXPLAINED LOWER BACK PAIN THAT ISN'T RESPONDING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY?* Had to put that in all caps to get your attention. That can be the only symptom of serious bowel dysfunction.)
I added your gallbladder formula and that's added another dimension of wellness. THANK YOU for that! That was where my digestion turned the corner completely. I am taking electrolytes because that problem didn't get better. I'm not overeating protein. I keep it around 45-60g and I eat quite a bit of fat. Egg yolks (they're the closest to complete nutrition of any food) and a little liver are my multivitamin. I do take a complete vitamin C once a week or so. I'm taking FEWER supplements than I was on plant-heavy keto. My gut was so damaged that I couldn't even get to the stuff in the pills. If I feel well, I'll get a nutrient panel at the one year mark. If something is off, I'll do it sooner. We'll see how that goes.
About two months ago, I began to reintroduce foods. I've found out that I simply cannot eat very much insoluble fiber at all. Soluble fiber seems fine so I have coconut keto bread. The list of things that I can't eat is too long. I have 2 herbal teas that work, some dairy is okay, a little herbs and spices seem fine... not much else. Right now I have enough variety to keep me content and my body is still healing.
I was so close to dying when I switched from keto to carnivore. I am not kidding. The scleroderma was in full roar and my vascular system was being destroyed. The swelling in my legs would not go down and that was unrelenting pain. (My legs are pretty again! Got the gams on this girl!) My gut was killing me. Inflamed from my throat to the other end. My liver was enlarging, spleen swollen, skin tightening to the point where I could no longer smile.
Carnivore saved my life. I'm still disabled, but I'm getting better and better every day. I'm feeling joy again. Having good, productive days again. I have hope again.

      1) Yes on the cold Climate. Mostly Germanic with a lot of Irish and a touch of British, Scandinavian, and less than one percent Bali Indian. (We actually know where the Indian came from. Huge misunderstanding.)
2)- 1/3rd of my maternal family has an undiagnosed genetic condition that makes it impossible for us to do cardio, allows us to slip into ketosis in one day just with carb restriction, and causes bouts of periodic paralysis and seizures with hypoglycemia. We have no idea what it is (doctors are no help), but we've all developed coping mechanisms that get us by. So that issue kicked in around the age of ten for me. (If anybody has a clue what this might be, I'll hear it. There's about 20 individuals who have to live with it.) It causes muscle spasms, weakness, muscle pain, and chronic fatigue. That's not going away with any med or diet. Oddly, we're all very strong. We develop muscle bulk weirdly fast and have extra ATP energy. My son had a 36 inch standing vertical jump with no training. If we're careful and slow, we can do really well with weightlifting. We just don't seem to have much glucagon or we can't use what we have. I don't know. A ketogenic diet does help my symptoms quite a bit, but the rest of the family stubbornly refuses to give up their sugar energy. We get hypoglycemia very easily and the symptoms of low blood sugar are severe, including perodic paralysis and seizures. So getting fat-adapted is a nightmare. (That keeps me with keto!) All of those affected have at least one autoimmune disease that develops later.
      - When I entered my 20's I got into "healthy" eating. The slow decline began from there. By 2000, my gut gave out completely and I've had IBS since. In 2012 I had a 12-level spinal fusion to correct an old injury and that triggered the full-blown Scleroderma. I can see now that I had the vascular symptoms, calcium deposits, and some skin issues before that, but it was mild until the surgery. With all that, I didn't get a diagnosis until last year. (Couldn't find a doctor who took any of my symptoms seriously or was curious enough to run tests. The few who took a half-hearted stab at it just looked at hormones.)
      3) I'm pushing 50 and I am female
      4) - all meats
      - eggs cooked and raw egg yolks (I cannot tolerate raw egg whites)
      - hard cheeses, butter, heavy cream
      - lard
      - monkfruit sweetener (no sugar alcohols. they are not safe for me)
      - spices and herbs
      - coconut flour
      - psyillium husk powder
      - baking soda/baking powder/salt
      - a little potato starch to thicken soups, stews, and gravy
      - herbal teas and coffee
      - some extracts to make my homemade keto ice cream pop sickles (I don't eat this every day)
      - when necessary, BTB broth (I don't like bone broth - even the stuff I make. This doesn't appear to cause harm)
      - electrolytes daily. Either Drip Drops (7g carbs) or I make my own out of calcium citrate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium citrate, potassium citrate - the citrate is to address the calcium deposits and oxalte problem)
      - for supplements: A C-plus citrus bioflavonoid cap a week, desiccated liver caps, Dr Berg's gallbladder formula with meals, digestive enzymes to assist my pancreas, P5P and biotin to help me cope with oxalate detoxification (the deposits are completely gone after 12 weeks so I'll stop those soon)
      5) I now do Intermittent Fasting daily because I'm not hungry until evening. I've recently started skipping a day here and there of eating because I'm not hungry and my body is content. When I'm hungry, I eat. Although I want to lose weight, I don't want to do that at the expense of my health, so I don't deny myself. If I find myself hungry at noon, I'll eat. The fasting appears to be a natural byproduct of being well-nourished and eating enough protein and fat. If I have symptoms of deprivation (shaking, brain fog, fatigue, etc) and I'm not hungry, I will eat anyway, but that doesn't appear to be problem for me right now.
      - I believe that the fasting is what is causing the skin regeneration. I still have the tough skin from the Scleroderma. When the fasting happened, those spots started to soften within the first week
I'll be happy to answer any questions that anybody has. I don't have all the answers, I'm just putting together the puzzle for me and maybe a few of my relatives. I don't know if my formula will work for anybody else, but here it is.

To heal the bleeding ulcers in the lower part of my gut, I did enemas of butryate and L-glutamine in an MCT oil/butter matrix. I found a study where they had a resolution of symptoms for 90% of patients who suffered from ulcerative colitis in the lower part of their colon and rectum with butryate and L-glutamine enemas, so I tried it. Within a week, the problem was solved and a year and a half of bleeding, pain, a prolapsing went away. Three surgeries and keto didn't stop it. Carnivore plus this did. Now I'm still doing a small daily dose (about 2 tablespoons of the oil) to maintain.
I don't believe that this would've worked had I not already had improvements with the diet. I was already better and the oil mix was the final step.

I’m a firm believer that salads, and semi cooked veggies are really hard for our bodies to digest. Fermented(Basically pre-digested) veggies are the key to the bioavailability of micro nutrients. These veggies will have zero effect on blood sugar, and insulin, and the fermentation process breaks down the cellulose (which our large intestine can’t break down) tremendously. Making it soluble enough, giving our bodies a chance to break it down, and Ferment it further into short chain fatty acids. Making all those good micro nutrients bioavailable. I’m clearly not a doctor but i know personally un-fermented veggies, kale , and other greens make me bloated, and feeling like crap. A good serving of kimchi, pickles, or sauerkraut, makes me feel fabulous, and helps keep things moving; without bloating and misery.

I was checking the third study you mention, but I did not see how much longevity exactly is lost from a higher protein diet (weeks, months, years, etc.) Also, I don't know what foods were the participants having exactly, could be healthy food or junk food.

People with sulfur intolerance could hate broccoli and people with histamine intolerance could hate avocados.

Siim Land Agreed! ...a lot of people out there still don’t have a clean palate and can’t taste the real flavour of most real foods.

Daniel Mijatović I love and appreciate virtually all fruits and vegetables in the world. But only if they are home or local grown organic from good quality soil.

Daniel Mijatović I like broccoli or Brussels sprouts in many ways, mostly sautéed with ginger, coconut oil, liquid aminos and tapioca. Also great with cauliflower rice AKA caulirice.

Talk more about the anti- nutrients in these veggies and what they do to your body. The nutrients in plants are meant for the PLANTS.

I agree with some of the comments and wondered, also, why he keeps saying "Carnivore Diet" and showing red meat in the pics, but only uses chicken and fish for his comparisons. Every "expert" who discusses/follows the Carnivore Diet typically only refers to eating red meat and focuses much less on chicken and fish as part of that diet. In fact, many on the Carnivore Diet ONLY eat red meat! They do, however, encourage eating organ meats, particularly liver, but there are some wonderful dried organ supplements on the market. One doc I listen to even suggested freezing liver and cutting just a quarter-sized piece (frozen) every day that can be cut up and swallowed like pills if you're averse to eating organ meats. I haven't done that yet, but I think it's a great idea! 😊

I appreciate Dr Berg addressing some of the issues but, beef is conspicuously absent in the chart and what role can high quality supplements take in addressing some of the shortfalls?
