Bounce phasers i need indeed, next week prolight and sound i am going to ask them for new features and 2.0 software. Also i realy like the way high end systems hog does color in there new 4.0 version. This way of color mixing would be working great for the ma3 color mixer too mixing in colors like lime, amber etc etc automatically
I greet you! I would like, if you can give me an opinion, I have been a chamsys user for some time and I have to learn GrandaMA, what should I start with? MA2 or MA3? thank you
Thanks for outlining a load of great points, it is great to hear others having the same wants/frustrations. Almost the entire benefit to MA3 is the recipe recipes - understandably so because the concept is great and touring a show after the work is done is brilliant. What is so frustrating is the slow creation of them...lights are not programmed in table lines, looks need to be created in the programmer and then stored as a "store as recipe" store option, along with cue only and updating of recipes in cues. Pretty gutted to hear that .. from what I've heard, this doesn't feature in V2.0... oh well at least there are waveforms in timecode objects 😂...I don't underestimate the development time these things take, but sometimes I feel like the priorities of users and the features that make release aren't always inline. I look forward to the day when a recipe show can be programmed at the same speed (if not faster).
As somebody who had the chance to see the 2.0 "trade show version" i think they managed to adress some of the points you mentions. Happy to see you back. Keep up the great work.
I learned so much about MA2 from your early MA2 Videos where you would just explain different things in your current showfile in a long unedited video. I would really appreciate such videos of MA3. Glad to see you back on UA-cam!
Once I feel like I am much more of a power user on 3 I'll be doing that. I don't want to be making videos until the software is a little more featured for longevity sake and so that I can really know everything I can
A video about why to change from grandMA2 to grandMA3 would be much appreciated by the whole community. I leave here the suggestion and THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING AND BACK.
Glad to see you're back! On the negative times, The command line triggers with the cue, so ill just assign a and put a 5 second wait on a 10 second cue. Not as nice, but it does work. For the Fixture Grid ive found the best way to quickly get fixtures in it is a top down 2D perspective selection. ill store that selection as a master group then - groups out of that to get my fixture groups into the grid at their spacing. It would also be nice to see an official PHASER pool and dealing with the phaser layer as a preset by itself instead of sharing through the other pools. As it stands now i can't find an easy way to stop my fixtures mid circle and snapshot the pan tilt values. i instead can only record the phaser in the position presets. Loved learning Ma2 from you and i've been excited to learn MA3 along side you!
I got to see 2.0 last week whe the presenter got the relasse notes and test version and its a big one. Something like 75 pages of notes. And yes some of this has been added and massive improvement
For having been able to get the v2.0 on my fingers, i can say that some of your wiches have been granted and many other new features are coming ! You will soon find out... it's a massive release. Welcome back sir !

Great video! I have also been nearly 100% on MA3 the last year and don't want to look back. I agree with all of your complaints and ideas. Recipes are so powerful but way too inefficient when programming timecodes and cue lists. I think the "cookbook" idea is awesome, it would definitely speed up my work.

I might be missing on something, but one shot phasers would be cool too, especially for timecode ! A store as recipe is indeed necessary ! I hate spending that much time into building them … I have tons of question coming through my programming journey and cannot always find solutions online, maybe having a better documentation would be useful too, especially about lua plugin creation Other than that, I had a question : Will you show us your show file and explain how and why you set up executors, I cannot find a way to create a fully featured show file which I don’t have to change every time ! I’m new to this, might be a lack of experience too ! Glad to see you posting on here, can’t wait to see more of your work, thanks for sharing your knowledge ;)
And Today, 2.0 is out. Did you know it would be out soo soon? Very cool. Some of your wishes are in the notes, and a couple things I wished for and had given up on. I remember when it first launched they talked about the custom use of the dual encoder, and after so long I figured it was just a dead concept, but nope!
For MA3, it should be an upgraded version of MA2, rather than being as difficult to use as it is now. I hope that the MA3 manufacturer can improve MA3 on the basis of MA2 instead of starting from scratch. The cloning function of Ma2 is very useful, and I can use it to clone complex lighting layers during large-scale performances

@christianjackson We had a Recipe pool in 1.4 or 1.3 or something. It's probably in the software already behind some curtains. I agree 100% with needing a Cookbook.
The one thing I want is the ability to have timers be an average of multiple other times. Firing CO2/flames etc I want to know indervidual times of firing as well as a quick average.
good list, love the favorites idea....i also miss the action button page, it was nice to have a page of execs that could be controlled and modified just like physical ones....having only 1 action assigned to the entire sequences pool has not been a good replacement at all.
You can have a actionpad... Just assign your sequence in your Layoutpool. There you can assign the executor as flash, toggle and so on. You could also assign the sequence multiply times in your actionpad with different action... For example one for flash one for toggle and one for go+
What would be nice if they could come up with a good 2 to 3 showfile converter to where you dont haft to go back and redo hundreds and hundreds of cues. Ive got years into building my MA2 showfile. Not really wanting to start over again...
I unfortunately don't think they will. The workflows of ma2 vs ma3 are different enough that I think you would actually want to redo your file. With recipes and phasers, it would probably be impossible to get an MA2 file to run smoothly.
It's been discontinued and is not receiving new development or features for the last 5 years or so. Nothing wrong with them... they just are focused on building the newer software of course.
