I find when I do this, either from kneeling or lunging, I tuck my head in but then I kind of slam my back into the mat when I roll. It hurts so I'm afraid to do this on concrete. Can you think of what I may be doing wrong?
Yes. Ju-do guy here. In case you didn't improve it in last three years :) or for ppl with the same problem:
1) Please use the other leg than in this video. The natural way for your body is "left foot in front, roll over my right shoulder".
2) Focus on *forward*, *fluid* movement when you roll, I bet your mistake here is to go up with your hips instead.

When I roll. I'm hurt my shoulder . How should i do?
Generally this happens because of one of two things.
One: Make sure you are fully turning your body and head a full 90 degrees to the side when starting your roll. If you do not turn your body much you could come down with all your weight and momentum on the top of your shoulder. Your goal should be to set your weight on the ground just past your shoulder, on the upper part of your back.
Two: Make sure to use BOTH of your arms fully when you start your roll. Use your arm strength to slow your shoulder/back down before it comes into contact with the ground. Think of your arms as shock absorbers slowing you down. Lots of people have a tendency to only use one arm to set their shoulder/back down.

You need to tuck more. The contact with the ground should start on your ARM, not the shoulder or your back.

is there a name for just going over the Head and spin like the first one you did ? a friend of mine that i Run with me Rolls like dosn't seem to hurt him but was Jw if it has a name. P.s he has been doing it alot longer then me
