It's comic accurate. Bruce had to learn to appreciate him. That's why "Thank you Pennywo.... Alfred. Thank you Alfred" was so important in the finale. That was Bruce realizing Alfred deserves better.
You forgot Basil Karlo aka Clayface. He was reimagined in this version from his monstrous look to a an evil demented serial killer look. Also, I would like to see the Riddler in season 2.

This version of Alfred is pretty much what he looked like in his first ever appearance in 1943. Back then Robin was already there but they didn’t really treat Alfred properly. He was a comical character who was trying to be a detective like Sherlock Holmes and others, with disastrous results. Just picture an acme cartoon where someone is walking through a construction site and comes out unaware they were even there and remained unharmed.

The villains that I think they should add for the next season should be Calendar Man, Killer Moth, Maxie Zeus, Solomon Grundy, Deacon Blackfire, Hugh Strange, Black Mask and Lady Shiva. The heroes they should add should be Ralph Dibney, Vic Sage, Ted Grant, John Constantine, and Ted Kord.
Harvey Bullock is a dirty cop in this version. I hope that he gets a redemption arc in season two, as he's usually a cop that's a bit hardlined and often pushing the limits of what he can get away with, but ultimately principled.

If they're going to gender swapped a character, they should've gave female Penguin a completely different costume and hairstyle like they did with Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse and Calendar Girl from The New Batman Adventures series. I would've gave female Penguin a sun hat, different colored umbrella that isn't purple or black, and maybe make her body skinny and attractive. This female Penguin looks too much like Male Penguin for giving her a top hat and black umbrella
Female Doc Oct is an actual character from the comics and a major fan of OG Doc Oct. so the character had an actual purpose. This was just making a male character female and changing nothing else. While changing Jim Gordon does nothing to the character, making Batgirl black just makes it more obvious who she is. At least in the Adam West show, both identities had different appearances.

For example, I'm a fan of Thor from the MCU, but I prefer the take on the character when the tone of his movies was still written with Shakespearean overtones. While not the most jovial direction, it helped to distinguish this Avenger from the rest of his 21st century, wisecracking counterparts through its gravity and refined mode of speaking. While I appreciated the the humor injected into the third movie, I really feel like his franchise went downhill from that point on because he went from being The Once and Future King to an emasculated and bumbling Joe Schmo. (The fourth movie did not help my impression of this character...) But that's just my take on it. If you like Harley's new color scheme, great. If not, that's okay, too.

There is a classic Batman gangster character called Ma Gunn. A great character barely used. There is also Magpie, Nocturna, Deula Dent, Talia Al Ghul, etc. So many great and underused characters to choose from.
Here are some honorable mentions: Rupert Thorne: He took over the role of Carmine Falcone during the early days of Batman. Clayface: He is based on his original self from the golden age of comics and not his current self as we know him. Harvey Bullock: He is known as the anti-Batman cop with a good sense of justice. Here, he's an unrepentant thug to Arnold Flass (one of the banes of Gordon's early days in the comics).

Just finished it. Love how the show plants seeds leading towards the finale and how it gives Bruce some development. Give it a go, try at least the first 3 episodes, one episode where you turn off because you don't like a redesign is just your anti-woke mentality projecting.
I think it would be nice to acknowledge Bruce's cousin Kate, AKA the first Batwoman. I imagine there could be a lot of good drama with Bruce not getting along with his mother's side of the family, and really hammering home how Alfred is his true family.

I know Batman has a set Rogues Gallery of villains, but if they wanted to include more diversity, why not dig up unused characters from the rest of the DC universe? There's tons of characters who never see any screentime. Or better yet, make up new characters. 1992 Batman TAS gave us Harley Quinn, after all.

It doesn't really matter that much but what some people don't realise is that Harvey dents face was burnt on the right side whereas every other version of him has his face scarred on the left side
It’s always funny to see people getting genuinely upset when you don’t like a change to an established character with decades of history. And their excuse is always that “things have to change or else they won’t be able to tell fresh stories” and it’s such a lazy cop out. You can tell new interesting stories without fundamentally changing a characters identity.
One change I did like was showing Bruce as a boy and that his grief didn’t make him sad, but instead filled him with rage. Him standing at the door of Alfred’s bedroom, bug eyed and angry saying “I’m going to get revenge on ALL OF THEM!” genuinely made me afraid of the man he would become…
For me the biggest change was the bat cave. From the huge science lab, super computer and museum we're used to, this bat cave is a dingy one-room hole with filing cabinets, a map of Gotham, and the latest in high tech crime fighting, a microfiche reader.
Since they are going all in on the 1940's setting, I'd like to see some more JSA people show up, like Alan Scott (since he lives in Gotham) would also like to see Corrigan get a redemption story, and maybe have Bats need Carter Hall's help with some ancient artifacts or something
Part of me says 'It's a potential multiverse so the differences can be entertained' the other half of me just popped in the original BTAS to enjoy the original incarnations

I enjoyed seeing Harley Quinn as her own character aside from the Joker. I liked the portrayals of her being goofy and energetic as Harleen and suddenly moody and sinister as Quinn.
The change I loved was Two Face - his scarred side was moral and his original face was cruel/uncaring. Much like the original comic, Harvey was corrupt before the "acid attack".
Original or Classic Noir, I don’t care, so long as it still gives all natural awesome superhero action fights and battle scenes that studios like MARVEL and DC can deliver, AND THIS SERIES STILL DOES, Mind you, despite the slightly impressive changes on most of the classic characters here! There's reimagining and then there's putting completely different characters in the original characters' skin. How is it that these poor excuse for writers STILL don't get that we like characters for the way they WERE. Changing them takes away what we like about them. I mean, just look what they did to our beloved Harley Quinn, they turned her from a fun, corky, but dangerous character to an evil, dark, intense generic villain. Just invent new characters and leave those we love alone.
You're the EXACT kind of person who whines when white characters get race swapped, but if someone made a new movie based on Othello, (the Shakespeare play, not the board game, because I can tell you'd be confused), and cast a white guy to play him, you'd be first in line to defend it. You forgot The Lego Batman Movie started the trend casting Rosario Dawson as Barbara and while Jim was voiced by a white actor. His appearance was more tanned.

The Alfred bit. Batman did call him by his usual name Alfred at the very last moment of the season, thus we can say Batman grew a lot during one season

The Caped Crusader is set very much in a similar style the the 90's animated series, I think they did that on purpose to play on our 90's nostalgia.

It’s always funny to see people getting genuinely upset when you don’t like a change to an established character with decades of history. And their excuse is always that “things have to change or else they won’t be able to tell fresh stories” and it’s such a lazy cop out. You can tell new interesting stories without fundamentally changing a characters identity.

One change I did like was showing Bruce as a boy and that his grief didn’t make him sad, but instead filled him with rage. Him standing at the door of Alfred’s bedroom, bug eyed and angry saying “I’m going to get revenge on ALL OF THEM!” genuinely made me afraid of the man he would become…

For me the biggest change was the bat cave. From the huge science lab, super computer and museum we're used to, this bat cave is a dingy one-room hole with filing cabinets, a map of Gotham, and the latest in high tech crime fighting, a microfiche reader.
Since they are going all in on the 1940's setting, I'd like to see some more JSA people show up, like Alan Scott (since he lives in Gotham) would also like to see Corrigan get a redemption story, and maybe have Bats need Carter Hall's help with some ancient artifacts or something

I enjoyed seeing Harley Quinn as her own character aside from the Joker. I liked the portrayals of her being goofy and energetic as Harleen and suddenly moody and sinister as Quinn.

There's reimagining and then there's putting completely different characters in the original characters' skin. How is it that these poor excuse for writers STILL don't get that we like characters for the way they WERE. Changing them takes away what we like about them. I mean, just look what they did to our beloved Harley Quinn, they turned her from a fun, corky, but dangerous character to an evil, dark, intense generic villain. Just invent new characters and leave those we love alone.
You're the EXACT kind of person who whines when white characters get race swapped, but if someone made a new movie based on Othello, (the Shakespeare play, not the board game, because I can tell you'd be confused), and cast a white guy to play him, you'd be first in line to defend it.
