Eddie Brock literally felt like Eric Forman fulfilling his dreams of being in a comic book.
Topher Grace will forever be Eric Forman.
Say what you will about "Milo", I credit Matt Smith for bringing some actual effort and energy to the part, which is more than I can say for anyone else in Morbius. Without him it would've been "boring as sin" bad instead of "kind of fun" bad.

What you just mentioned is the exact opposite of the Dark DC vibes the universe has been trying to give us these last few movies. And for that, his corky behavior just felt misplaced. All in all, I didn't hate the film tho.

To defend Topher Grace it is well known that Sam Raimi did not want Venom in Spiderman 3. It was the studio that insisted Venom be the villain in the film instead of The Sandman who Sam wanted.
Yeah, the studio should've saved Venom for an future movie or maybe had the film be split into a two-part films (like Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame).
Maybe if the studio just left out Venom and even the Black Suit and just made Sandman the main villain the movie probably would have been reviewed a lot better

@blinkachu5275 Topher was trying to get away from that 70's show character. I don't think Sam hired Topher, or if he did, that tells you how little he cared about the venom character in the movie. Sam wanted Sandman to be the only villain or top villain of the movie.
With Green Lantern I remember there was so much hype. It was snowballed out of control too. Things on social media went quickly from “I wonder if they will set up the other lanterns?” to “they are going to tease the other lanterns existing!” to “they are going to show Dex’Star getting his Red Lantern ring!” Honestly if the kept things a lot simpler, to at the times Hal’s origin that did tease red lanterns & blackest night, but then move to Sinestro training Hal & betraying the corps would have worked so much better than going for a cosmic entity right away
Green Lantern power works on force of will. If your power and the reason you were chosen for the power rests on a personality trait, then show that trait more than any other character. So, worse than the lame villain was the unexceptional hero.
I didn't mind Leto's performance as Joker. It's not iconic but not nearly as bad as often made out to be. He can't help the design (hm hm face tattoos) but the real problem was that he found himself in a bad movie.
Agreed. I didn't mind his performance. Unhinged, scary, complete psycho. Reminded me more of the Joker in the animated Batman from the 90s.

Honestly, Matt Smith in Morbius was the best part of that dumpster fire, atleast he looked like he was having fun.

One of my disappointments with Matt Smiths character in Morbius was that they insisted on calling him Milo

Phase 4 was all about grief and catharsis. Wanda, Clint, Strange, Thor all dealing with post-Endgame guilt and loneliness. It gave our superheroes a really humanising touch! ❤️
it isn't called Phase Bore or Phase Snore for nothing. so that's a horrific take. almost every movie that came out in Phase 4 has been horrific and why the M-She-U is dying.

You totally forgot Grindewald in the last installment of "Fantastic Beasts." In the climactic scene he just kind of stands around and does nothing for like 10 minutes. Like doesn't intervene while they ruin his plans, etc. Terrible.
I sort of liked Enchantress.
And she didn't just decide to destroy everything, she'd had that idea and plan long before the Squad. This just wound up being a good time to try it.

When I saw Pan and Jackman sung Smells Like Teen Spirit, I was bugged by how in a movie set during one of the great world wars knew a song from the 1990s.

I saw concept art of Parallax in a book at a book store years ago of what could've been an insectoid alien instead of what we got of a hellish cloud composed of dead souls. I personally enjoyed Catwoman, as it brought out Halle's hotness and made the 2nd time of the character as a metahuman (1st was Batman Return with 9 lives). Giving Enchantress a Mayan look was a fancy touch and matches with her dance that doesn't bother me. Morbius was a good film to me and my family, I just don't what to say about Milo since I never heard of him. Got to agree with Eisenberg's Lex didn't seem like Lex Luthor. There were like some Joker traits in there, and all of his motives was purely out of jealousy and proving his opinion about gods. Viewing himself as a god cause of how smart he is and jealous of Superman cause of his actual godlike powers. He thinks gods can't b both all good and all powerful at the same time, which is why he sadly admired Zod in 1 scene.

i liked Jared Leto's Joker. his portrayal felt closer to the 90s cartoon version than Heath Ledger's version. Plus he's a f**king clown, over-the-top is practically his middle-name. the only thing i can agree on is that he get's far too little screen time in Suicide Squad. Leto's Joker played more on the Gangster vibes from the original comicbook character, while Ledger's and Joaquin Phoenix's versions play more on the anarchist side of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Topher Grace as Venom was a let down from what I’d been hoping for, yes (Venom & Carnage where what drew me into comic books in the beginning), but I can respect the choice they tried to make; Topher Grace’s Eddie Brick was intended to be as close to Tobey’s Peter Parker as possible, to hold a dark mirror up to what Peter could have been without his moral compass. In that much, I was alright with how Eddie was portrayed
I finally saw zach snyder justice league. When i saw it was 4 hours i didn't think there was any chance i would like it but it was actually really good. It's insane how much crucial stuff Whedon cut.
You can't have good villains in bad movies.
Unless it's Alan Rickman in Robin hood Prince of Thieves in which he basically saved the film by being so good of a villain.

I agree, and at least the MCU is good at poking fun at it's own "shortcomings". DCCU comes out the gate assuming they've achieved a hit, but every "Directors Cut" rerelease is the mark of failure. No wonder they're pulling the rug from beneath their feet with future projects...those flubs are expensive. I'm surprised David Thewlis' Ares didn't make the lame list.

He turned in a fun performance, but I like how his origin feeds back into the theme of Tony's worst enemies coming from within, which was relevant all across his film series.
Yep. But the problem was never Slattery. Ben Kingsley portrayed both his fictional villain and Slattery to great effect. It was Killian that was the problem. Socially awkward scientist who didn't have any friends turned bully himself. Generic villain plot and writing.
I liked Toymaker, Malekeith, Milo, and Doctor Doom.

Yes that sounds like a good idea. I really like Cara Delavigne as the Enchantress and June, plus their characters who could have so much depth and complex stories

whilst some of these are down to the actor being miscast, there is a equal amount that are down to the script and direction.
Iron Man's 3 approach to The Mandarin doesn't belong in this list. While it definitely upset people, their handling made perfect sense within the film and its universe at the time, and was a setup for a long game intro of the character.
Is Venom disapointing in Spiderman 3 ? Yes
Is Venom one of the worst vilains of the century ? Absolutely not !
There was a really good job that was done on Venom's design, scream and movements that made him a scary bestial villain at times in the movie I think. The problem is that Brock's character is too simple and not charismatic enough. But overall it's a villain that isn't catastrophic like the ones on this list I think.

They should've have Electro be the sole antagonist and be like an dark reflection to Peter of get back at the world for treat him badly and saves Harry' alter-ego for the third film.
I must agree with the number 1. I hope that James Gunn gives us a more comic book accurate Lex Luthor. For Zack Synder thinking a Mark Zuckerberg style Lex Luthor would be scary and intelligent as one of the lowest points of that movie.

The Indoraptor in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was pretty bad too. It felt like the least threatening dino in the whole franchise. There was even one scene where it made a comical face like it was in a Bugs Bunny cartoon
Lucian Crown isn't really a bad villain his acting was one of the best things about the Morbius film.
Loki from son of the mask looks like a green Darth Maul. I could consider him as a loki varrient of mcu. Can't change my mind
I liked what they made with the mandarin in Iron Man 3 ,they played with our expectations and showed that the media can forge what we perceive as evil. Even if the mandarin was comical et showed that not everything is what it seems. And the villains in the real life always have petty reasons to do it ,bless a man in it's pride and you have un enemy for life. Good Year 2023.
I agree iron man 3 was setting up the next marvel phase.
I loved the subversion even if it was a "terrorism is manufactured by weapons manufacturers for money" trope. We knew they couldn't give us the mandarin of the comics for a variety of reasons so they flipped it on its head and to see Sir Ben's performance go from threatening and creepy low growl to sleepy British party animal was a wonderful surprise. "Get you off drugs?" "Said they'd give me more!"
I was pleasantly surprised to see him in Shang Chi, but his character started to be a wear onn me in a bad way as he had more screen time.
Many people liked it.
My least favorite on this list is by far Venom and the movie was really bad as well. Happy New Year's Watch Mojo. 🥳
At least they made Luthor a bit better in the post-credits scene from Zack Snyder's Justice League.

between all those 20 villains, at least toymaker entertain us with his other versions talking to him, it feels like you're watching one of Ernest P. Worrell movies with different personalities assuming the character
Maybe I'm the only one but I like this Luthor. Snyder's Justice League trilogy is great and it's unique as his other work, as The Watchmen.
These villains may have cause troubles for the heroes but you can’t help but to sympathizes or likes these antagonists for various reasons. For this list; I’m doing the “Top 10 Villains Moments in Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014)”. For me personally: I enjoyed the villains as much as I enjoyed the heroes. Their actions in the series may have been shocking and twisted but once you learned a little more about these villains; you’ll start liking them even more. Okay then: let get to the list.

Not seen The Wicker Man (2006), Green Lantern, Slender Man, Catwoman, Pan, Bye Bye Man and BattleField Earth but I understand like with Catwoman it’s meant to be bad.
To be honest i enjoyed Alan Cumming's portrayal as Loki like he was the only good part i liked about in Son of The Mask.

To this day, I still believe that the scene with Venom bonding with Eddie in the bell tower should have been the end of SM3. Wrap up the sandman plot, maybe the Harry Goblin one too, then let the fourth film have Peter trying to undo the damage done to his life whilst Eddie/Venom stalks him showing his superiority, driving him to desperation as every part of his life is infiltrated.
If they felt it was a bit empty then they could have brought in the Lizard as the foe Peter starts out chasing, given that they’d already introduced Curt Connors in the trilogy (although I’d have saved him for a subsequent ‘animal themed’ trilogy with Lizard, Rhino, Vulture, Scorpion and topped with Kraven being seeded across two films then becoming the main villain in the third)
This list is more a "villains we dislike to seem cool" rather than a list with any merit.

Awww John Travolta was adorable in Battlefield Earth. That movie is like a goofy gift wrapped in a science fiction premise. Travolta yelling and giggling is nothing but fun.

Two things: one, Thor: the Dark World would've benefitted if instead of Malekith, the Aether remained the movie's threat. Imagine it like this: Jane finds the Aether -> the Aether starts killing Jane -> Thor discovers that the cure could be found in the ruins of the Dark Elves' world -> Odin prohibits Thor going there, because the land had become dangerous as there were no more dark elves to maintain it -> Thor still goes, encountering "enemies" that the Dark World's magic filled air creates, but that end up being illusions of the past ->Thor manages to reach the cure, but is met by an Aether possessed Jane -> After a battle, Thor kills Jane to contain the Aether -> After containing the Aether, Thor arrives at the home Tanleer Tivan the Collector only to be met by a figure at the entrance (the figure could be future Thor, perhaps) wearing a cloak. Thor gives the Aether to the figure -> End credits.
The second thing, Eddie Brock wasn't jacked enough to be a menacing Venom. They should've introduced Cletus Cassidy as Carnage instead if they wanted skinny and menacing. If they wanted a menacing Venom, then Eddie really needed to hit the gym before becoming him. Also, they needed more motivation for Venom to go after Peter. The symbiote could've been more fleshed out, maybe even still reaching for Peter even as it bonded with Eddie. Resentment and dependance. A good cocktail for a villain. As for Eddie? They didn't need to invent the wheel. They could've cut out Sandman from the movie and started with the Lizard aka Curt Connors instead. JJ in his infinite wisdom would promise a reward for photos of Spidey duking it out with the Lizard. Peter would carry this out perfectly, but Eddie would be delayed (maybe the only bridge to the fight took place broke down or worse Spidey webs him up to protect him from the Lizard, making him unable to reach his camera). Eddie's fired and obviously bitter losing to a rookie and that goes double when not only he catches a cold from freezing weather, but also his apartment is closed as Eddie couldn't pay the rent to the landlord as he promised to pay it with the money from the Spidey pics. Eddie and Venom merge. Two hateful and surprising villains created.
oh come on, Ben Kingsley's character was one of the best things about 'Iron Man 3.' That was a good switch-up. It wouldn't be PC to have a literal Mandarin.
It wasn't necessarily he was bad, just that it was way too divergent from the comic Mandarin people wanted.
You missed the entire plot for the wickerman. Their weird kindness is eerie. Littke kids happy as his flesh burns and falls off his body.
I never understood the Hate green lantern got cuz after finally watching it(many years after it came out) its actually pretty good and I like parallax i thought he was a good villain and the guy who played his helper on earth was great to too🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
The problem with nearly all of the top spots - Topher Graces Venom, Fantastic Four remakes Doom, Suicide Squad Joker is all because they were given less than 20 minutes of screentime and barely any character development.
Yet another perfect demonstration of an American utterly and completely missing the whole point of an ironic character , Ben Kingsley’s ‘the mandarin’ is the best character in the film ! The whole point is he’s NOT evil genius , in fact he’s this drug addled two bit actor playing a character .

@@jimbo9208 Sam Raimi said it himself that he never wanted Venom. Avi Arad was the one that forced him to include Venom in it for the sake of toy sales. That's only because his toy company Toy Biz had ceased it's operation back in 2006.

Having generic motivations or goals doesn’t make a villain bad. They don’t all have to be high art with layers of complexity. Sometimes a scary thing wanting world domination or destruction is enough
I was waiting for umbrella Corp from the live action resident evil movies to be in this list. Not only did their "evil" plan keep changing in every movie, but it made zero sense the whole way.

I cant really say anything for Topher Grace's Venom cause he was only used for a boss battle or a final battle villain but as Eddie Brock, he did had alot in common as Brock from the comics and even in some animated shows
And I liked him as both Brock and Venom despite the flaws and limited screentime, not enough shine
I can say the same for Dehaans Green Goblin...not enough screentime if not less than Venom to even talk about him

Most of these are insane characters, characters whose logic defy conventions, you are not supposed to understand their motivations, they are insane... try watching the movies again and you with that in mind.
