hey... i saw ur wip dubstep on newground too, can i also upload it on bilibili? i was going to ask you in my review but you could only write one so i decided to ask you here...
My theory kind of evolved from thinking she was *dead* , to thinking she is in a *coma* , and it's her choice whether she wants to 'be a child for ever and ever'. By watching the video, Steampianist could have rhymed with sleepyhead and dead, but they didn't. (1:08 - 1:26) This is because the girl could be in a coma. Notice the characters at 1:21 are wearing medical hats. Maybe doctors she is seeing in a dream in her coma. This is very child-like as well, meaning she thought it all up. There are skeleton angels holding up the sign saying 'Wake up, Sleepyhead' meaning if she doesn't, she will be like them. Secondly, when the theme turns darker at 1:31, it could mean she's been asleep for a *long* time. Long enough that her cake is decaying, with flies around it. Oliver mentions that he 'saved a slice, just in case'. Just in case she wakes up from her _coma_ . At 1:54, Oliver calls her lazy, still as a doll. In a _coma_ , you aren't moving. 2:28 proves that she is in fact asleep. 2:32 states, 'Sleepyhead, sleep 'til noon, 'til night, 'til the moon is full, 'til it's time for teeth to fall.' Oliver says that she should wake up, but contradicts himself when he says she sleeps or has been in a coma for a long time. 'Teeth to fall' is a metaphor for when you get older, your teeth fall out, when you near *death* your teeth fall out. At 3:23, there is either a memorial for being in the coma for so long, or she has died in the coma. At 3:38, a bunny appears in only black and white. The bunny could be a figure of death, saying that Sleepyhead's time is up. In the final chorus, the message turns to tell Sleepyhead that she isn't going to be a child forever, and should just *die* instead of keeping up the sleeping during a _coma_ . In all, Sleepyhead is in a coma, and dies there. But hey, that's just a theory... A vocaloid theory. owo Hope I didn't ruin your day ^^
this has the highest production quality in a vocaloid song i've seen in a long time, especially from the western part of the comunity. i'm so in love with this
Locklear the Loli Lord how are you creeped out by this? I mean, yeah, there are some arguably creepy subtle things in the background, but the song and visuals are pretty tame for Steampianist.
The scary thing is I had a little rabbit toy named Flo that looked a little like the rabbit in this video. I won her in a bingo game at school and because she was so small (the size of my hand) I took her everywhere. To school, vacations, and I almost brought her to surgery. Where I almost died under anesthetic. But I lost her during sometime after that on the way home one day and I was devastated. Flo had been a friend to me when no one else could be. I was very lonely until I was able to make friends the next year, but she is still my favorite. I wanted to tell this story because this song reminded me of a sad and precious memory of my favorite toy as a child. A tiny little rabbit I named Flo.
you know, if the video wasn't there, this would sound like a cute and perfectly normal song about oliver trying to wake up a girl for her birthday but she doesn't want to get up.
I'm not sure how to describe this song as anything but aesthetically pleasing, haha. The PV is just so gorgeous, and the tune is very relaxing. I love the way you tuned Oliver, the iconic singing style that resembles Lowbrow Party. GUMI's harmonies also sound amazing! Incredible job as usual! This is already my favorite Xmas present!
I have a theory for this song. So a 7 year old's younger brother is waiting for her sister to get out of bed for her birthday, she doesn't come downstairs for several hours so their mother sends him upstairs to wake her up. He yells at her "wakey wakey, sleepyhead!" She still doesn't wake up. The mother comes there and finds she's dead. Her brother refuses to believe it, so he saves a slice of cake for her throughout his life. (I'm not certain yet, It's just a theory, A SONG THEORY!)
screw my fangirl heart Well I think they mean like, the brother is in denial and just wants to save a special place for his sister. Saving a slice of cake on her birthday every year sounds acceptable and realistic to me.
I know I'm late to the party but- I think it's about a mom finding her daughter dead on her 7th birthday. The way the lyrics are spoke make it seem like it's coming from someone mature, so not a younger sibling. Example being "while your wishes count", which is something an adult would say. She also calls the child lazy, which is usually what parents say when their child sleeps in. The reason I think it's a mom and not the dad is also how gentle the words are, like "wakey wakey now, wake up sleepyhead". I know my mom said the same thing on my birthday when I was little. Plus you can also hear gumi in it, her more visible vocals coming out during the teeth falling part, which gives me the impression she kept her child until she started to decay. Mothers have done that before, and a sibling wouldn't be able to do that. That's what I think anyways-
it was a great pleasure and honor to add some brass parts to this song~ I've been a big fan of steams work for a while. Everything about this is absolutely amazing!
I'll return later to analyze this song, but in the mean time, I will say this, as cute and sugarcoated as this song seems, I believe it has a darker message to it than it seems it would.
Ally Crain i think you are right because in the end the angls are sceletons. Her naive sister wanted to save her a slice of cake, just in case that she wakes up.Later there stands 'she is still as a doll, lazy child' So it is propably true that her big sister is in a coma(sorry for my broken englisch)
Don't you dare play innocent, Steampianist. We're on to you now. The only song you've given without a terrible ending or twist to the plot (that I've seen) was Scrap Boy (one of my favorites that I plan to cover, BTW). WE ARE ONTO YOU.
I'm so overwhelmed by the cute art and the melody, it's just so cute, and I really like how you do the instrumental, very very cute and funky! The overall production is superb!
My reaction throughout the song: Aww, this is pretty cute! That bunny is adora- Wait... Why are the angels skeletons? With nooses? ... Sleepyhead isn't ever going to wake up is she? That explains the shrine at 3:23. Honestly though this song is great, Oliver has the perfect voice for these types of songs.
I think Sleepyhead wished to be a child forever. Her dream became true and now she won't be able to wake up and blow the candles, she'll always be a six years old child.
*sigh...* i'm so insanely addicted to this now. I love how secretly dark this is. Kinda reminds me of Kikuo's music. Yet the PV is a gorgeous mixture of bizarre and adorable. Thank you for making this Steampianist.
also am i completely insane or do i hear another voice somewhere in there... very subtle and practically impossible to notice the first time... ...maybe Gumi?
The song is about a dead girl, that's pretty obvious, but then the question of HOW she died is the real question. Based on the imagery shown on 2:33 it seems to suggest she's drowned. Suicide? or perhaps murder? Idk, what do you think?
I like the part where he tells Mr. Sandman to shoo I find it hilarious and the entire song is just sooooo aesthetically pleasing. I've listened to this song so much.
Every time I've listened to this song my sleep has been gone for the next four nights or so after. Nevertheless, I attempted to listen to this song again today bcause your songs are always bangers and who needs sleep and... yep. still creepy and traumatizing Thanks for the nightmare fuel, I'll say hello to the bunny tonight in my nightmares
Despite nothing happening, this song was very eerie, but it was also so calm and relaxing... I'm very conflicted right now... All I'm sure of is that I loved the music and pv!
How can a song about a dead birthday girl be so beautiful sounding? This sounds like something you would play at a little kid's graduation, or maybe, A funeral? *sobs*
i have to say, a lot of Steampianist's songs are just super unsettling and uncanny. like something is just wring and twisted. i don't think i can ever calmly listen to these songs, they just make me feel so uneasy. i love it

Okay, so just another song theory. The song is sung by a mother of a child. The mother is mentally unwell and does not realise when she attempts wake the child that she is in fact, dead. So the mother leaves the body for as long of she lives in the bed, unable to accept or even realise the child is dead. Losing track of time and the loss of her child driving her mental illnesses to progress, as the child fell ill and died the night before her birthday, she now believes everyday is the birthday or her daughter. I know there's already lots of other theories for this song but just what I believe ^^
Your songs makes me think really deep about their themes- Which makes me restless at night- :') xD But I really love them!!~ I love everything about them even though it gives me the chills
this is such a great song it's inspiring me to create a pastel gore drawing thank you Steam pianist your songs and Morb's art never fails to inspire me!
Hey guys I know it's late to make a theory of this song but i'm going to do it anyways: The first thing to put out there is that the child whose birthday it is has died. There's lots of subtle hints in the song such as the skeleton angels holding the banner and the line, "still as a doll" which point towards this idea. Then there are more obvious hints such as the angel statues and the flower display with the picture. We see the effects of the child's death in the images of dolls being unused with the sudden stop in the dancing dolls movement at one point and the rotting cake. I think the child did drown to death as in the scene where we see the girl underwater she is transparent ( as you can see fish swim behind her), almost like a ghost. I don't think it was suicide as the candles would indicate that this child is seven and its more likely at that age it was an accident. This entire song seems for someone trying to get this girl to wake up from her death, but as seen this doesn't happen. It seems this trial goes on for an extended period of time by various lines and images, such as the rotting cake. So yeah, that is all I have right now. Any comments? I'd love your input.
Theory (and a very late one) the girl drowned herself a day before her birthday, she was found and out in hospital, her father, within denial, couldn't let her go. He loved her so much! His mind started to play tricks on him and he thought she was asleep, he saved the slice for her as he thought she would wake up later, but sadly.... Didnt.
I've got a therory for this song : So there's a young brother saying 'wakey wakey up' to his 7 years old sister (who has got birthday this day) , who is in coma (probably because she nearly drowned - 2:33 - in the background we can see something like ocean ) - she could 'wake up' and that's why the boy saved a slice. Soon the girl dies before she woke up ( 3:23 - probably it's her funeral )
I know this theory is wrong but I also feel like this could relate to growing up into an adult and still coming to the realization that you aren't a child anymore and your dreams shield the reality that you live in.
My friend told me about this guy who kidnapped children and didn't feed them until they were as light as puppets and if they didn't obey him he would kill them and I think it would be cool if you made a song of it~!
This songs brings a good moral to light in a cute way; and I think the moral is about don't just waste life away because you are too lazy to experience it or that you are too scared to do so. It is really nice to listen too. Good job to everyone who worked on this!
A lot of people say she drowned but I think it's more likely she almost drowned but died a few days later from pneumonia or something, it would explain why she was in bed when she died and her toys thinking she was asleep. Unless this is supposed to be the time when people would keep their dead relatives in the house for a bit after they died.
me: wow it's been years since i heard this song! me: wow seems really cheerful! -realizes its Oliver who's singing- this is gonna have a dark twist isn't it

Hey...so since your songs are mostly based on real life things...can you tell me who this was about, I’m just curious
Me: Oh, finally! A happy Oliver song!
Me, not even halfway in: She's dead isn't she.
She might be... but it seems cherish!
OK I SEE EHAT YOU MEAN NOW... 1:29
Ok i was probably wrong... pls stop making me donfused song!

My reaction to Undertaker’s Daughter as well 😂
My theory kind of evolved from thinking she was *dead* , to thinking she is in a *coma* , and it's her choice whether she wants to 'be a child for ever and ever'.

Who needs sleep anyways :D
the way you ended it with the but hey part reminds me of game theory now XD

Also don’t forget mr sand man part at 1:58 which represents time meaning her time is running out.

Agree :33
But... Aren't they in the eastern part?

That's what I was thinking.
there’s alotta production in kikuo stuff but that’s also japanese so
Don't worry guys, this doesn't have any dark plot twists or anything.
:)
while it's nothing too blatant, i feel like it might be about someone in a coma...
except im pretty sure the birthday girl died
She wished to be child forever, that's because she can't wake up and blow the cadles.
M. Nourishad the girl is dead.
Everything is cute until you start to analyse the song and realize that the girl is dead

But points to you for making the dark truth subtle
I have a theory for this song.
So a 7 year old's younger brother is waiting for her sister to get out of bed for her birthday, she doesn't come downstairs for several hours so their mother sends him upstairs to wake her up. (I'm not certain yet, It's just a theory, A SONG THEORY!)
Only the memeiest For the dank Probably the best theory yet tbh.
Airgo Chapatiz Why, thank you!
Only the memeiest For the dank the only thing I don't agree with is the through out his life junk cause some point some time he's gotta know the truth
screw my fangirl heart Well I think they mean like, the brother is in denial and just wants to save a special place for his sister. Saving a slice of cake on her birthday every year sounds acceptable and realistic to me.

I feel like this song is about a girl who died in her sleep the night before her 7th birthday. Dunno why tho

Birthday cakes
Candles
Bunny
What could possibly go wrong ?
=)
A girl falling infinitely, angels with skulls on top I dunno
And the funeral
Hey guys I know it's late to make a theory of this song but i'm going to do it anyways:
The first thing to put out there is that the child whose birthday it is has died.
1:15 I can't stop seeing the dancing bunny as a bunny version of Puppycat lol
steampianist, your songs and morb's art go together so well-
You know what I felt when I heard this the first time I thought it was going to get dark real fast because the steampianist is a dark youtuber
I was like "Something is clearly wrong"
Theory (and a very late one)
the girl drowned herself a day before her birthday, she was found and out in hospital, her father, within denial, couldn't let her go. He loved her so much! His mind started to play tricks on him and he thought she was asleep, he saved the slice for her as he thought she would wake up later, but sadly.... Didnt.
I've got a therory for this song :
So there's a young brother saying 'wakey wakey up' to his 7 years old sister (who has got birthday this day) , who is in coma (probably because she nearly drowned - 2:33 - in the background we can see something like ocean ) - she could 'wake up' and that's why the boy saved a slice. Soon the girl dies before she woke up ( 3:23 - probably it's her funeral )
I plan on singing this to a friend on their birthday.
Dreemurr Tale that would be very interesting
This songs brings a good moral to light in a cute way; and I think the moral is about don't just waste life away because you are too lazy to experience it or that you are too scared to do so. It is really nice to listen too. Good job to everyone who worked on this!
THE GIRL IS DEAD!! Why can't people realize that?
Bored boredom that's just how most people interpret it
Josey Phipps er, the girl is dead.
Josey Phipps
Random person: But umm, the girl is de-
Me: *SHHHHHHHHHH* you'll ruin the surprise
The. Girl. Is. Dead.
I DO in fact want to be a child forever thank you
so , correct me if I'm wrong but is it about a 6 year old girl that just turned 7 on her birthday and she died in her sleep?
I think yes(such a very late reply)
What a nice song, I sure do hope nothing bad happens
A lot of people say she drowned but I think it's more likely she almost drowned but died a few days later from pneumonia or something, it would explain why she was in bed when she died and her toys thinking she was asleep. Unless this is supposed to be the time when people would keep their dead relatives in the house for a bit after they died.
When i heard this i thought it was a great song to put as my alarm. Then i read the comments. I'm unsettled, but i like it
I found this song a day before my b-day :0
I'm going to set this alarm to wake up listening Oliver
me: wow it's been years since i heard this song!
me: wow seems really cheerful! -realizes its Oliver who's singing- this is gonna have a dark twist isn't it
I just bonked my head on the table 🙃 lol
