    The bottom engine mount nuts bruh. I hate them. Both were extremely rusted and it was a pain to get them out. Still managed to pull it off tho. Good video.

    On the E92 do you need to jack the engine from below as well? Or is the support car enough?

    Nice one! Would the same engine support bar lift the engine enough to replace the oil pan gasket? bviously after removing the front axle!

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  5 років тому +1

      Yes. I used the same support bar to lift the engine up when I changed my oil pan gasket.

      How much cm you can lift the engine? 10cm?

    From research, it appears those 8 bolts holding the reinforcement tray need to be replaced when they are removed. You may want to add that note to the beginning of the video as I was trying to find torque specs, had the car jacked up ready to go, and now find I should really have the new bolts on hand ready to go.

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  2 роки тому +2

      You are correct, the manual specifies that those bolts should be replaced. In practice however, they almost never are and it seems like it's not a problem.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. Just wondering how safe it is to lift the N46 engine from oil pan. Mine looks like the oil pan is made of metal sheet and not flat bottom surface as compared to other oil pans I have seen with solid cast iron or th with flat bottom. Did you actually use the wood support bar from above to pull the engine up for space to remove the mounts?

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  Рік тому

      It's risky to support it at oil pan, I suggest using support bar. I did use wooden bar in this case but I've bought a proper metal support bar now:)

    My kid managed to crack the support bracket that holds the mount. Is there a video on that here or anywhere? I can't find it and it seems like a similar process but would love something to watch and reference. If not, I'll hire someone to do it. thanks.

      Aluminium mount from engine to the rubber mount?

    Hi. I need to change my N42 engine mounts as well. Would you recommend the Febi ones you have installed? Are they still performing well? If yes, where did you order them as wouldn't want to buy a Chinese knock-off of some fishy eBay store.
    Thanks!

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  5 років тому +1

      My original mounts weren't as bad as i thought. In my subjective opinion i have a little bit more vibration in idle with the new Febi Bilstein ones. Maybe the rubber is a bit stiffer because they are new. I would still recommend this brand or other well known german brands, don't bother buying cheap Chinese parts... I've bought mine on Autodoc web page.

    When you re-install the secondary air valve, do i need a new gasket or i can re-use the old one?
    I ordered also the same febi mounts 😉

      Did you changed also the transmission mounts? Im thinking for doing it also when im already working on the engine mounts. 🙂 ( not so expensive at autodoc )
      When im shifting i can hear sometimes a small 'clunk' sound. Or maybe its because the engine mounts are bad..
