    Enjoyed this video, but sorry to be a kill joy. Because reading other comments no one else has said anything... So hear goes. I know that we're in a nation wide lockdown, with sssential travel only allowed!! So, if I've missed something please forgive me!

    • @nicroams
      @nicroams  3 роки тому +7

      Hey Wayne, thank you for approaching this subject so kindly. You'll be surprised how angry people can get over this topic. I have a full post on my Instagram explaining but in summary, this was filmed before National lockdown when my base county and these areas were in tier 2 so travel between the two was permitted. On top of that I live in my van full time (I don't own a house) and this is one of my jobs so travel of some form is required. Hope that helps clear things up a bit :) Stay safe and healthy, Nic

      @@waynestjohn2103 John Banks and I did mention this a week ago.Re the Country being in Lockdown and people still making You Tube videos.Check comments again. Nic has obviously realised her error and scarpered home during a full Country Lockdown.I will enjoy her videos again when she is able to travel without breaking the Covid Rules in the future.

    • @BrainCaseSugaryGoodness
      @BrainCaseSugaryGoodness 3 роки тому +6

      @m I think you need to do you research regarding covid rules as you have made some sweeping mistakes, the covid legislation does not affect us all equally,I'm not saying that's fair but it is the word law. Nic can not scarper home as you so eloquently put as she is already there, remember her van is her home. The covid rules are very clear that anybody that is of "No FIXXED abode" ie.lives in a boat or van or cardboard box! Is exempt from the "stay home rule" I hope that's educated a little, so you can stop posting false information . Of Course that means you can enjoy her videos without fear that she is breaking any rules!

      @@BrainCaseSugaryGoodness thank you for replying on this for me. I'm getting tired at the amount of people jumping the gun with this. The lock down commenced on 4 Jan, these vlogs haven't even reached that date yet. Although I did stay in Yorkshire for a couple of days after lockdown. As explained in other comments, there was no clarity on what the travelling community should do. Travellers said stay, home owners said leave. But it is easier said than done for them when they have a house to go to. Honestly I really appreciate your comment, have a lovely day and stay safe!

    A suggestion for keeping warm in the van when very cold is a onesie snugpak sleeping bag. It's a sleeping bag with arms, legs and a hood that you can zip off or open the feet and hands area. My hubby has one and they are just brilliant.

    No one pays to do the ingleton falls walk. Get there early and complete the walk before the ticket office opens. The trail goes through public access areas. It is worth a visit. I always stop off here on the way to the Lake District with my camping dog and cat.

    Hey, you're heading into my neck of the woods- Ingleton waterfalls walk is notoriously expensive with no public right of way, HOWEVER, you can access the whole thing from the North for free and it's the top fall that's the best. Ordnance survey maps 1:25,000 are amazing for detail, don't rely on Google maps for sneaky details. If you saw Ingleton pottery when you were there, you might be interested to know the guy who runs it grows MASSIVE veg and has a channel about it - Allotment Diary.
    Oh, and doing The Three Peaks is pretty daunting in Winter because of limited daylight!

    Great adventures your having , here’s a tip from my decades of hgv driving and staying out in freezing weather including Scotland, always park up with the front of your vehicle in the opposite direction from the prevailing winds and also if you can cover the radiator/ grill with a screen , nothing worse than finding out the water pump / engine block frozen up even when you’ve got anti freeze in . Happy adventures 🙂

Well I have a disabled badge which normally means you don't pay the toll fee. So I rock up and pass my the tollbooth cashier my badge and he just looks blank at me. Then he says " that'll be £3.50 please. So I told him that I didn't have to pay, just sign a sheet. To which he replied " oh no, this is Yorkshire, you don't get ought for nowt up here ". At Goathland they wouldn't let me in the carpark because a transit " in't a car " . They sent me to the coach park and I couldn't park there, because, yep you've guessed it, " it in't a buzz ". I found a parkup and in the morning went to Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire for a few days instead. 🤣

    Ok Nic.....Nightheaters 101... Ebo D2's Planar and Mv Aeros heaters use about 330ml of fuel a hour when burning when just ticking over about 200ml. 330ml of fuel is your average fizzy drink can so with the standard fuel tank in a van being around 80ltrs you've plenty. You should be able to run the heater 24-36hrs easy on a 110AMP leisure battery as I have INC a compressor fridge. Even in summer open all your doors and set it to max and run it for an hour you have to use them or they'll crap out on you. I've no idea about the Dong Wong Chinese heaters but even those I guess you can run all night .... Great channel great videos love the adventures your doing great Nic

Keep driving it brings ya to the beautiful village of Haws and the green dragon pub with camping, and you could from there drive up over the vast expanse of moorland to the highest pub called the tan hill it's a £5r or more a pint there lol my exes cousin is the owner so I won't pay I take my own in my van...much cheaper lol you can have a good meat up with other vaners there it's a nice interesting place with a lot of history. And I was also wondering what van you have (engine size) and if you’ve had any other issues aside from the power steering pump a few months back. Also, how do you find good places to stay? I’m totally new to van life 😆 Thanks 🙏 😊

    • @vandernomade4703

      Hi welcome to vanlife! Just sharing some tips I am halfway through a conversion, I recommend the all in one diesel heater they are the same price as the ones you have to install all the parts yourself instead you just have to fit the exhaust, fill up with fuel and connect to battery very easy they look like a big red box, also if you can fit it under the passenger seat or near the sliding door it is easy to fill up at the station, as you don’t want to spill diesel inside the van! Also I’ve heard recently there is a new product I forget the name that allows you to run your hot water shower from the heat the diesel heater makes so you don’t need a boiler or truma heater system which I’m going to have a look at reviews on here.

    • @nicroams
      @nicroams  3 роки тому

      The diesel heater has been great for winter. It does however use a lot of power to start up so I always put my engine on as I have a split charger during the warm up stage. Note I have a 120ah AGM battery so if you have a lot more power you may be absolutely fine. My engine size is 2lt and I bought this van on trade and cheap so had a few issues with it to begin with. Turbo, gear box and injectors. I know it sounds scary and costs a lot but you will get this with most vans that hit about 100k. But also note 100k on a van is very different to 100k in a car, there is still a lot of life left in them just parts need a bit of TLC.

      John I agree.Same as all these people travelling from London to Snowdon in Wales or the Brecon Beacons recently to the Beauty spots.(Nic Roams been to Snowdon and Scafell Pike recently as well during lockdown) I thought Wales Borders were closed BUT Police and the Wardens are finding loads of people doing their own thing obviously they couldnt care a toss about the Pandemic and its consequences.In Defence of Nic Roams She does live in her van BUT Nic you said at the Start of the video Happy New Year and the area you are in on the video is Tier 4 and most of the Country is in Tier 4 meaning no long distance travelling, so you should stay in your Local area and not be travelling half way across the country while the Country is in effect in Lockdown, even if it is for You Tube footage.Nic Roams People are getting arrested for filming Hospitals so be careful the Police maybe monitoring UA-cam as they have all your details and you are blatantly breaking the rules touring across country.Stay safe stay local to your Family Shropshire wasnt it.?When and if the pandemic is over THEN feel free to explore the Country.

      I was in Snowdon before Wales went in to lock down and Lake District when travelling was permitted. Just wanted to clear that up ☺. In regards to this trip as mentioned, Shropshire and Yorkshire was in tier 2. Now they are tier 3. I have never said this area is tier 4 because it isn't. Of course I could go back but I'm not sure how that will help, I'd just be moving from one tier 3 place to another and parking my van up in the wilderness there. During all official lock downs I remained in Shropshire as that is where my work is based. My family are based in Wales and London ☺. Anyway I'm sure we can agree to disagree but in my opinion I'm already here, roads are snowy, I'm keeping myself to myself so I'm just going to stick it out for the next week 🤗. I also don't think it is fair to compare me to those who are travelling far to beauty spots as they already have a safe place to stay. However I do feel like everyone should get out and enjoy some fresh air rather than being stuck in a box all day ☺
