Hey Wayne, thank you for approaching this subject so kindly. You'll be surprised how angry people can get over this topic. Ok Nic.....Nightheaters 101... Ebo D2's Planar and Mv Aeros heaters use about 330ml of fuel a hour when burning when just ticking over about 200ml. 330ml of fuel is your average fizzy drink can so with the standard fuel tank in a van being around 80ltrs you've plenty. You should be able to run the heater 24-36hrs easy on a 110AMP leisure battery as I have INC a compressor fridge. Even in summer open all your doors and set it to max and run it for an hour you have to use them or they'll crap out on you. I've no idea about the Dong Wong Chinese heaters but even those I guess you can run all night .... Great channel great videos love the adventures your doing great Nic
Fifty some years ago when we used to camp at the top of ingleton waterfall it didn't cost nothing for the trail just a fee for camping in the farmers field they commercialise every thing they can these days ( and by the way an inglenook is a kind of fireplace) keep the videos coming
Yess nearly everything here seems to have a price on it. Bonus is there are toilets everywhere 😄. I'm glad you've said that, I went in to a shop today and saw a log storage that said inglenook on it and I thought something was haunting me 🙂
Happy New Year..... don’t feel any pressure to post just enjoy 😊 If you get stuck, temporarily reducing tyre pressures on the drive wheels will help with grip in snow ⛄️
I can remember about fifteen years ago (after a family wedding in Scunthorpe ) deciding to spend some time exploring South East Yorkshire and crossing by the Humber Bridge. Well I have a disabled badge which normally means you don't pay the toll fee. So I rock up and pass my the tollbooth cashier my badge and he just looks blank at me. Then he says " that'll be £3.50 please. So I told him that I didn't have to pay, just sign a sheet. To which he replied " oh no, this is Yorkshire, you don't get ought for nowt up here ". At Goathland they wouldn't let me in the carpark because a transit " in't a car " . They sent me to the coach park and I couldn't park there, because, yep you've guessed it, " it in't a buzz ". I found a parkup and in the morning went to Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire for a few days instead. 🤣

Great to see you again Nic, hope you had a fantastic christmas break. Back to your travels. You're a tough chic not using your diesel heater though. I'm absolutely chewing my fingers off waiting to get away in my beast, especially in the snow. Enjoy your travels and editing the videos for our entertainment. Nobby Nomad...
Thank you, I hope you did too! I use it for a few hours before I sleep and around 6/7am in the morning. I really don't think my battery could last all night with it on ☺ so a couple extra layers and a hot water bottle does the trick in-between 🤗
Glad you liked them! I felt like they were a bit point and shoot 🤷🏻♀️. My toes are still freezing, it hasn't stopped snowing 🥶. Happy new year to you all too 😄
I find my diesel night heater can use quite a lot of battery power starting from cold try running your engine until the diesel heater gets to temperature that should half your battery consumption
Oh no, I've never thought about it before but after that experience I was surprised I've never got stuck before. I will be doing a you and checking before hand each time now 😄
Hi Nic if you want to do places like Ingleton falls you should consider becoming a member of the national trust as you can get into places like that alot cheaper but great video non the less and the yorkshire dales / north york moors are both great places for hols and adventure .
Pity you didn't do Ingleton falls, but it would of taken you at least 2 hour's and you would of been frozen. 10c all year round in the White Scar Caves. Stay safe, keep up the good work.
Nic. Upgrade to all weather tyres next time. We have them on our car and they pay off. U can drive in snow. Also how do u know where u can go with this tier level bs. Enjoying the clips
Thank you! Yesss super chuffed. It's my first winter in this van, I did a winter in a bigger van 2 years back but I don't remember it being this snowy 😄
Starting to enjoy your vlogs. Beesley falls u can access by following the river up from centre of town. After Beesley there is a station where u pay to complete the trail but u can turn around and come back down without paying
Loved the videos, think it's illegal/prohibited to load fuel directly into a container in the van , just empty the pisser and fill that up lol xxxx be safe
why dont you keep the diesel tank in side van then you can see how much you use & what it cost then have an auto eletriction wire in a 3 way switch witch means flip the switch up to the deisel tank in van then midiel of switch if off then bottom of switch is wired to controler as it now but its switches to your main van fuel tank then you can keep the diesl tank in van as a back up fuel just a thought as 1 of my old friends did that & he now knows what he uses in side the van & 1 day he ran out had no heat for 2days then he remeberd his heater is aslo wired in to his main tank
Hey, lovely to see you out and about on your travels, made me laugh when you said this is the pisser full of piss. 😂😂 Great vlog, keep them coming, take good care and enjoy the rest of your trip. 😀
Great video. Before you change your heater tank see if you have a petrol station near you that sells heating oil. Your heater will run better on it and it's only 40p per litre 😀
I think it is both 😂 I can't leave it in gear as I turn the engine on for when I start the heater which takes about 15 mins so need the van to be secure at all times 😂 plus I'd rather not sleep on a slant, I'm no vampire yet!
@@nicroams I live on a boat & run a diesel heater every day. I was going to say run the engine when you start the heater because that's when it uses loads of power, but you already know that 😁
I did indeed have a great Christmas, I spent it "at home" just before it went cold :D Back to the Motorhome on Monday though Ooof. Oooh Nic has a new bloke... not bad not bad ;) All your weight is in the back end Fnar Fnar so with front wheel drive, it doesn't leave much over the wheels for traction, that's why a heavy van will be spinning compared to cars,
This looks so beautiful! I live in teeside and it’s amazing to have this on our doorstop but I’ve never actually been here! Once restrictions are lifted I can’t wait to take our van back out and explore our backyard!!! Xxxxxx
Hiya, I’ve just got a lwb vivaro to do a conversation on and found your channel. Really impressed with the content. Just wondering how you find the diesel heater? And I was also wondering what van you have (engine size) and if you’ve had any other issues aside from the power steering pump a few months back. Also, how do you find good places to stay? I’m totally new to van life 😆 Thanks 🙏 😊
Hi welcome to vanlife! Just sharing some tips I am halfway through a conversion, I recommend the all in one diesel heater they are the same price as the ones you have to install all the parts yourself instead you just have to fit the exhaust, fill up with fuel and connect to battery very easy they look like a big red box, also if you can fit it under the passenger seat or near the sliding door it is easy to fill up at the station, as you don’t want to spill diesel inside the van! Also I’ve heard recently there is a new product I forget the name that allows you to run your hot water shower from the heat the diesel heater makes so you don’t need a boiler or truma heater system which I’m going to have a look at reviews on here.
The diesel heater has been great for winter. It does however use a lot of power to start up so I always put my engine on as I have a split charger during the warm up stage. Note I have a 120ah AGM battery so if you have a lot more power you may be absolutely fine. My engine size is 2lt and I bought this van on trade and cheap so had a few issues with it to begin with. Turbo, gear box and injectors. I know it sounds scary and costs a lot but you will get this with most vans that hit about 100k. But also note 100k on a van is very different to 100k in a car, there is still a lot of life left in them just parts need a bit of TLC.
I feel your pain on the cold front.!! I just did my first long weekend away, in Cumbria, in my minibus conversion. I've insulated the crap out of it but forgot to put the cab window guards in on the second night so woke up to solid ice inside the windows and two dogs curled up on the bed. haha . So that was fun. You may be interested in a site I came across. It has a huge amount of (tested) wild camp locations all around the UK and its free. Its similar to the Park4Night thing, I think. I'll dig out the link and post it below. It's all on a google map so you can zoom right in to see the location. Pretty nifty. Anyhoo, glad you got out of the loo in one piece and with your dignity intact... Safe travels. PS a hot water saved my life this weekend...!!! haha
Here's the link. Great to have in your arsenal. You can also email in any new locations you come across to add to the map for others to use. I've just added a nice little beach carpark in Sussex to the list. sites.google.com/view/wildcampingmotorhomes/wildcamping-u-k?authuser=0 Happy Camping. :-)
Hey Nic, another great vlog! How do you find your park up's? They're always amazing. I've been on Park for Knight but there are so many places with restrictions. How do you always seem to hit boondock gold?! 😀
I mainly use park4night and if there isn't one in the area I maps to a park4night and keep an eye out on the way. All else fails end up driving further than liked. But I also don't listen to the signs if in rural areas 🙄🤷🏻♀️
New boyfriend then, always good to have someone to share your adventures. Take care stay warm. Look up stumpcross caves on the moors free park up too. Great breakfast

I used to stay just on the road from them caves every weekend at the hill in pub on the right in a tent, they used to have a live band play in the barn for us bikers and walkers alike. then if you go further on just under the viaduct there's another good pub with camping at the back with views of one of the three peaks. Keep driving it brings ya to the beautiful village of Haws and the green dragon pub with camping, and you could from there drive up over the vast expanse of moorland to the highest pub called the tan hill it's a £5r or more a pint there lol my exes cousin is the owner so I won't pay I take my own in my van...much cheaper lol you can have a good meat up with other vaners there it's a nice interesting place with a lot of history. Anyway ime sick about not been able to go Scotland as well but enjoy ya time where you are. Ime surprised them caves are open they not exactly on the essential list!! Lol stay cool both of ya 👍👍
Aww sounds lovely and thank you for the recomendations. Sadly I am back in Shropshire now due to lock down. The caves were open as the area was tier 2 and at the time so was Shropshire so travel was allowed between the two ☺
@@nicroams cool 👍 it brought back some good memories seeing you two parked down the road from them caves I've slept in my van there 😀 and years ago we used to race are bikes along that straight road jumping of the humps 120 mph lol and when we got of them at the hill Inn pub we wer all shaking with fear lol and then we got pissed obviously he!he! I wouldn't behave like that now at my age though obviously!! 😱🤔 well not without a few whiskys in me 😂
@@nicroams This Chinese diesel heater you have really should be working good . There are usually excellent for heat and heat up fast. Not sure how well insulated the van is maybe that he is escaping.
No I don't have the right tyres. I wanted to upgrade them but £400 when the tyres I have are still good to go seems like a waste. But I am very tempted!
do you have one of those Chinese diesel heaters ? I want to set one up in my van, as current I have no heating and for the 5 days it is too cold in the UK lol it is a nice choice to have.
We live local to the falls but haven’t been for a long time and won’t be going anytime soon at £7 per person. Bloody ridiculous. It’s a natural waterfall and should be free to anyone. Like trying to charge to watch the rain fall. Great vids watch how you go lass & Lad 👍
It is quite pricey for a walk especially if you bring the whole family, although I think it is a little cheaper for kids. Such a lovely place you live though ☺ thanks for watching!
I don't know exacts but I'd got for around £200 a month max which includes: 4hrs worth of travel to and from work and then 2 small trips (local area but moving every day) and 2 big trips a month. Sorry I don't really look at miles 😅
Awaa a new video, it's so interesting watch them, you put them together so good! Great work👍🏻 I wonder where the mermaid went... Maybe someone take it home 🤔🙄 Get "Locus map" for your phone, it have a lot of online maps, but also offline maps you can use when out of internet. They also better for trails than Google maps. It little complicated to use first, but when you understand it it's very good. You can also save your point of interest if you someday go back. Looking forward for more videos 👌
Thank you! I will take a look at it. I've had a few walking apps but they're never easy to understand ☺ but I should probably start using one for the offline feature ☺
The current tyres on my van are done, so I'm going for all weather tyres when replacing, I think this will make a real difference when going off the beaten track, yet to get a heater in, but haven't suffered too badly, but will be, however, getting a portable toilet in the van just makes life a little bit less stressful (Although yes, admittedly, I also have a p*ss bottle 😂) .
Haha I'm waiting for my tyres to be worn in so it gives me an excuse to get the Michilin Cross Climate tyres. Feels like a waste to upgrade for no reason. I am actually quite happy with my porta potti but my belly has been a little funny recently which isn't the best for van life 😅

I'm glad you've said that, I went in to a shop today and saw a log storage that said inglenook on it and I thought something was haunting me 🙂
Happy New Year..... don’t feel any pressure to post just enjoy 😊
If you get stuck, temporarily reducing tyre pressures on the drive wheels will help with grip in snow ⛄️
Thank you! Oh wicked, I didn't know that, thank you 🤗
Another entertaining vlog Nic, love your self confidence on camera and enthusiasm for exploring
Heya new subscriber honestly this is such a inspiration I came across your video last night. It's so cool and inspirational I been back and forth on wheather to buy a van and convert it but your videos have helped me make the right choice to go for it keep up the good work!
Oh wow this is sooo cool to hear! So happy to hear I've inspired you and I can promise you've not made the wrong choice! Good luck and I look forward to seeing van life come to fruition for you 🤗💫
Tesco in Clitheroe! My home town. Another great vlog 👍
I’m sorry your trip will come to an end now it’s another Lockdown, but hope you make it back to the Trough and Dales again soon!
Hi Nic
I do like your honesty and bluntness lol , keep those adventures coming.
He's a lucky young man getting to share your van ;)
Haha thank you! I will make sure he knows this. Purely so he keep cooking for me 😂🙄
@@nicroams
I'm sure you will Nic , stay safe sweetheart more importantly stay happy.
Love ur channel, got the exact same van, had it 4month looking for to traveling. You have given me loads of confidence to do it. Keep them vidio's cuming thank you.
Thank you! Aw wicked, start off doing small trips in familiar places and you'll get use to it in no time 🤗
Awesome video. Love the snow 🌨️❄️ . Congratulations on your subscribers. You have an excellent channel. Happy 2021. ♥️
It is still snowing, love it ☃️ thank you, wishing you all the best for 2021
Hey gorgeous girl another cracking blog thanks felt like I was there too ps I got winter tyres put on my car and the difference is truly amazing on snow defo worth the expense if your doing lots of winter driving stay safe girl look forward to the next episode 😀
I really don't think my battery could last all night with it on ☺ so a couple extra layers and a hot water bottle does the trick in-between 🤗
Great down to earth vid again Nic....loved it.
Thank you 🤗
Those photos of the cave were amazing and my toes are freezing just watching this vlog. Happy new year much luv ash, keesha and puppy jess
Glad you liked them! I felt like they were a bit point and shoot 🤷🏻♀️. My toes are still freezing, it hasn't stopped snowing 🥶. Happy new year to you all too 😄
Fantastic video. Stunning views. Stay safe. Keep warm. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!!! It has been freezing but my heater is looking after me very well 😃 have a lovely day!
@@nicroams thank you. Have a great day
Really enjoying the real perspective you're putting into these rather than editing out all the bad stuff. Thank you and keep them coming 🙂
I think it would be impossible to edit out the bad, if I did you'd just be watching me eat breakfast the entire time 🤣
Can't wait to get out in my van next year just brought a lwb vavaro
Amazing! I guarantee you'll have the best time!
Lovely vid. Nice and relaxing too....drive safe! Just take it really slowly in snow. Temps pick up end of feb so not too long to go
Thank you! I'm actually quite enjoying the landscapes covered in snow but not the amount of diesel I'm having to use to stay warm 😄
I find my diesel night heater can use quite a lot of battery power starting from cold try running your engine until the diesel heater gets to temperature that should half your battery consumption
I've been getting stuck in toilets my whole life. It's just a curse. I've learned to test open the door before I properly shut it :-)
Oh no, I've never thought about it before but after that experience I was surprised I've never got stuck before.
🥶🥶🥶 I will do it next time I'm in the area for sure 🤗
awwwww how sweet is your friend , so glad you had a great time , absolutely beautiful sights , take care lovely
Thanks so much, have a good day :)
Great video lovely to see you back on the road , stay safe & warm x
Thank you! Have a lovely day 😄
Nic. Upgrade to all weather tyres next time. We have them on our car and they pay off. U can drive in snow. Also how do u know where u can go with this tier level bs. Enjoying the clips
Just found you !! Love your delivery and honesty .... Good luck in everything you do...looking forward to sharing your travels
Thank you! Such kind words ☺ thanks for watching and have a lovely day x
Great vid as always. Congrats on the 10k, well deserved.
Is this your first winter in the van?
Aww haha thank you 😁
Loved the videos, think it's illegal/prohibited to load fuel directly into a container in the van , just empty the pisser and fill that up lol xxxx be safe
why dont you keep the diesel tank in side van then you can see how much you use & what it cost then have an auto eletriction wire in a 3 way switch witch means flip the switch up to the deisel tank in van then midiel of switch if off then bottom of switch is wired to controler as it now but its switches to your main van fuel tank then you can keep the diesl tank in van as a back up fuel just a thought as 1 of my old friends did that & he now knows what he uses in side the van & 1 day he ran out had no heat for 2days then he remeberd his heater is aslo wired in to his main tank
Hey, lovely to see you out and about on your travels, made me laugh when you said this is the pisser full of piss. 😂😂 Great vlog, keep them coming, take good care and enjoy the rest of your trip. 😀
Haha thank you :) I hope you had a good festive season 😁
Great video. Before you change your heater tank see if you have a petrol station near you that sells heating oil. Your heater will run better on it and it's only 40p per litre 😀
Really enjoyed that love how down to earth you are and your presentation style is very engaging ❤️
Aww amazing thank you so much 😁
My old haunts before emigrating to America, Teasdale was the playground of the rich n me.
Well done on your subscribers👍 good luck on your travels and roll on summer🌞🏄🏻♀️
Thank you! Yesss summer camping will be bliss 😁
Get a couple of hot water bottles, great for warmth for hours on a night
yeh..you tell it as it is nic..respect!!!
🤟🏼 thank you
Your van is so nice. Love it.
Thank you 🤗
Wow absolutely amazing awesome. Would love to find somebody to do this with, you lucky duck :-)
If your hand brake isnt holding, you can always leave it in gear when parked ;) if it's ice.. can't help you
I think it is both 😂 I can't leave it in gear as I turn the engine on for when I start the heater which takes about 15 mins so need the van to be secure at all times 😂 plus I'd rather not sleep on a slant, I'm no vampire yet!
Oooh Nic has a new bloke... not bad not bad ;)
All your weight is in the back end Fnar Fnar so with front wheel drive, it doesn't leave much over the wheels for traction, that's why a heavy van will be spinning compared to cars,
Aww lovely! So happy to hear that 😃. My van has been spinning everywhere all week 😂
Keep meaning to get over to the forest of bowland it’s only 1.5hrs from me
It's a lovely little place :)

Hey Nic, another great vlog! How do you find your park up's? They're always amazing. I've been on Park for Knight but there are so many places with restrictions. How do you always seem to hit boondock gold?! 😀
Ignore me.....just saw on another vlog that you use park4knight!! Xx
I mainly use park4night and if there isn't one in the area I maps to a park4night and keep an eye out on the way. All else fails end up driving further than liked. But I also don't listen to the signs if in rural areas 🙄🤷🏻♀️
Really enjoyed this video along with all the others thanks
Aww wicked, thank you! Have a lovely evening!
New boyfriend then, always good to have someone to share your adventures. Take care stay warm. Look up stumpcross caves on the moors free park up too. Great breakfast

That Tesco is in my home town, Clitheroe!

Michelin Agilis Cross climate tyres, best modification I've done to the van, can't recommend them enough 👍
Yess I had them on my last and would like them again for this van, I'm just waiting until a tyre is so worn I have to change them 😁
Sorry the word is pardon couldn't help myself how's our home can get the good brew up there 🤠
I'm in the next Valley to the trough . Once broke down there in a g reg escort . Long pre mobile walk for help
Never been to the caves, will give them a try. Can we take our dog or not?
I didn't ask as I didn't have Onyx with me but I presume it isn't dog friendly 😄
Not sure I understand but it sounds like you don’t have a Bunk heater it’s definitely would be a great investment. It should be working..
I'm not sure I understand either 😄. I have a Chinese diesel heater if that helps 😁
@@nicroams This Chinese diesel heater you have really should be working good . There are usually excellent for heat and heat up fast. Not sure how well insulated the van is maybe that he is escaping.
loved the vlog. looking forward to the next one.Stay safe :)
Thank you! Sunday 2pm it will be 😃
Great vid happy new year maybe invest in a costco card you would safe some money on fuel and also its better fuel for your van :)
Great video .... which tyres have you got on? All season or winter tyres?
No I don't have the right tyres. I wanted to upgrade them but £400 when the tyres I have are still good to go seems like a waste. But I am very tempted!
@@nicroams winter tyres definitely make a difference.
do you have one of those Chinese diesel heaters ? I want to set one up in my van, as current I have no heating and for the 5 days it is too cold in the UK lol it is a nice choice to have.
Yes I do and has been working a treat 🤗 deffo worth the investment to make your space more comfortable
ops hadn't got to the part you said your heater wasn't connected to your main tank.
Hi love your videos can I ask what the fuel cost is for your van like how much to fill up full and mileage I’m looking to buy a van you see . X
I don't know exacts but I'd got for around £200 a month max which includes: 4hrs worth of travel to and from work and then 2 small trips (local area but moving every day) and 2 big trips a month. Sorry I don't really look at miles 😅
The lads debut was at the fuel pump 😉 😁
Good to have company good for you 👍🏻
I realised that when editing 😂 but you can't go back and record and I didn't realise he was there 😁
I feel cold just watching this ☃️ drive carefully
😂🥶 Good! It means I managed to make you feel like you were here 😂
Awaa a new video, it's so interesting watch them, you put them together so good! Great work👍🏻
I wonder where the mermaid went... Maybe someone take it home 🤔🙄
Get "Locus map" for your phone, it have a lot of online maps, but also offline maps you can use when out of internet. They also better for trails than Google maps. It little complicated to use first, but when you understand it it's very good. You can also save your point of interest if you someday go back.
Looking forward for more videos 👌

Indeed it is. The plant died the other day. In fact 3 plants died the other day. 😂. Fortunately the other drinks holder plant is still going strong 😄
Your a true adventurer keep up the great work
Thank you! Have a lovely day!
I am actually quite happy with my porta potti but my belly has been a little funny recently which isn't the best for van life 😅
@@nicroams oh no, hope your feeling better soon. And snap on the tyres, I should have them on the van in the next few weeks so I'll let you know the outcome!
