Evinrude water pump replacement/trials and tribulations

Replacing a water pump on 78' 9.9 Evinrude. Did it a couple of times because I actually didn't have the foot deep enough in the water? making me think the water pump was not working, duh. I used to run a 40 yammy on muffs so figured having the holes covered in water would be good enough on this one, but was not. now I know
So if you replace yours and its not putting out water, make sure the foot is deep enough in water
