God bless you, Chris. I have friends in the Asheville area (also in E. Tennessee) and to hear that you volunteered your time means the world to me. The links that David has posted as well is wonderful too. You are the best there is. And wow, I love your work. Thank you for sharing with us all. I'm so glad you came through the hurricane without problems.
@@RANDYSMITHOU812 Not what he said. He attempted to volunteer. He also said he couldn't abandon his current job if he got too deep into it since if another hurricane came along it could put others at risk. And my comment was to Chris, not you.
@RANDYSMITHOU812 I think he means he customer is important. Chris is a man of his word. His said he would put the pond dam in on such an such date, so he's there doing what he said he was going to do. He makes me awfully proud of him
Thanks for offering your assistance with the hurricane damage. I totally understand that you're in the middle of the job now. And leaving a mess isn't in your vocabulary. Can't wait to see the transformation of this mess back into a pond again, Chris.
Nice haul truck, even has the dump gate on it, I would think that would help with loading a bigger load w/o the concern tail gate spill out. As far as helping with storm clean up, you are a person that plans his work, then executes that plan, I would bet that it will take 2-3 weeks more to hit that level of planning an execution to be able to make serious head way. I would think with that much devastation over that wide of an area it’s going to take awhile before relief efforts will start being truly organized, the real issue is going to come about in a couple months from now when it becomes old news and the help will still be needed an the resources start drying up. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching, my heart and prayers go to those affected by the storm devastation, wish I could do more.
Yea that would be a waste to drive your equipment all the way there and do nothing. It’s liable to be weeks before they have any plans on what they need done. You could just show up and offer to help, but that’s just not a plan unless you had nothing to do. People need to understand you need to make money to afford all that equipment. You are an independent contractor.
@@dirtfarmer7472not too mention the thousands of dollars just to get his equipment moved. Money is not everything but it does take money and time. ( reality). Most won’t talk about it.
Chris, you are a great man to try and help out those in need and I understand that you have people counting on you to get things done closer to home. You've got to do what is right for them and for you as a business man. That 350 can sure move dirt! Knowing you, it probably still smells new inside! The core looks fantastic, everything is progressing nicely.
The problem is the wrong people are trying to figure it out. Experience is needed, which the people figuring it out don't have. If you need a Road built or repaired, you don't have Emergency Services figure it out. They have no idea. When Emergency Services is saying they will have a Helicopter pilot arrested for using his own Helicopter, Time and money to rescue people, there is something very wrong.
That. You need a central mission centre to have a plan and coordinate people to assess and report back the situation of every location and then send out the right amount of people with the right expertise. I have a novel idea! The military is trained to do that! (sarcasm).
You obviously have no experience concerning helicopter rescue coordination activities. I do. I'm a Coast Guard Aviation Veteran Sikorski HH52a Seaguard amphibious helo Flight Mechanic/Hoist Operator and I was involved in the Mariel boat lift. We had civilian helo owner trying to get involved and all thry did was slow things down by diverting assets to keep then out of the AOR. We has several close calls with civilian helos entering already saturated AOR's. If they are trained and registered reserve pilots then they will be called on as needed. We used Coast Guard reservists and Coast Guard auxiliary personnel for ground ops mostly. That area is already getting assistance from trained National Guard units and Active duty units plus local police units familiar with that area. Often as ride along crew helping those military crews locate area features. You might try letting trained personnel make intelligent comments instead of making yourself look clueless.
There isnt any power, no roads basically nothing just a war zone like you said. I know thats sad and heart breaking for people there but what can actually be done right now if you cant get there, have a place to stay or anything to eat. I cant remember the last storm that left this much damage in so many states
Those beaver hides make really nice wall hangings in a hoop. Also make really nice water proof hats out of them. Point is they are going to have to go soon. Some folks say that BBQ pulled beaver is good on a sandwich. I think it is kind of too greasy but to each their own. Two things that pond owners just cannot abide - beavers and musk rats (also nutrias if you have them there). Seems most areas have one or the other but have heard of places with both. The tunneling rats will ruin a dam.
Just a suggestion Chris you should contact a good lock smith and convert all your equipment to one key fits all much easier and not so many keys hanging from your pants 😊😊
Nothing like a beast to assist another beast. That Dasdy Bubba Dump is definitely going to pay for itself in saved time. Not to mention the cost of moving Barney to that job. This one is becoming on of my favorite pond saves Chris has done. So many different concerns for him to address. Of course he's the perfect person to take it on and get it done.
Chris Guins, you are da Man…. Top notch, experienced, skilled and real top quality. You can always tell a man of real substance and quality by the people he has as friends and working alongside him. There’s a guy over here in England, desperate to portray himself as skillful and knowledgeable as you are Chris. We all call him the cling on, or skidmark, cos he lacks skills and abilities to do the work you do, but desperately clings onto Matt, from Diesel Creeks shirt tails..skidmark sure does suit him so well.
Reports from people/victims FEMA' is more of a PROBLEM than help. Confiscating funds and donated resources. Private Helicopter pilots have been doing hops into isolated zones with water meds and evacs. God Bless all who help without politics.
I saw that That's what I'm afraid of spend thousands of dollars to take equipment up there and then get told I can't do anything it's just an absolute mess
Two things: First, your engineering feat of getting that core clay put in place ASAP was a genius stroke, especially if more water is coming your way. Second, I assume the beavers will move elsewhere once they're low water environment is changed...yes?
Hi Chris, no need for you to go over and offer to help because over there, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Besides that they would try to tell you what to do and how to do it. Your best bet is to stay right there and make money. You are in charge where you are, and you are doing it the right way. Thanks for sharing, Chris, and you are doing a fantastic job for your customer, and that's all that counts. God bless you, Chris, and please be safe out there. 😅

Not much sense in a bunch of guys bringing in equipment to those mountains until they can get a steady supply of fuel coming into the area. Biggest issue is bad bridges and busted roads. Once the road crews get some pathways for fuel deliveries, they are going to need a lot of help rebuilding.
