Hey. Here in sweden we put a type of tar, like the ones you/we have on the roof on top of the concrete. It works as the waterbarrier so on top of that we can use regular Wood on the bottom too. Now it wont be a problem for you here but if it gets wet enough the bottom piece can draw enough Water so the one on top can get wet too
Oxy acetylene torches would have made you job so much easier with all those I beams. I know you have them in the main heated shop, you said work smarter not harder...grab the torches bro

To save a bit of concrete work/drilling you can put the anchor bolts in when you do the pour. Probably not a big difference for a small wall like this but definitely going to have more impact when you do the movie theater.

I agree. I wasn't impressed with the use of adjustable jacking support poles. (No, I don't know the proper name for them nor did I ask the all-knowing, all-seeing internet to educate me.) Steel is incredibly strong but there is plenty of old I-beams available and that is not something to skimp on if money is no object and according to all-seeing all-knowing internet Cole is not just a 20-something farmer but also a 20-something millionaire. Maybe Cole hasn't really learned the whoops we didn't hire a consulting engineer for the bin site and look what happened lesson. It should be a simple matter to obtain the listed catalog strength of those adjustable jacking poles. The actual amount of weight on the I-beam? Yeh. That requires architectural knowledge and experience.
They are 10000% not allowed to be used the way he is. He has to get concrete filled posts. They come in 10' length and you cut them to the size you need. He also doesn't have the posts properly connected to the beams.

Very smart putting the tape on the pressure treated bottom plate first. Such a low cost proactive option to save many multiples of money later; I don't know why anyone would even consider not taking that extra step!

ONly one issue I see is that Green treated Lumber is not to be used indoors/inside a living area. Foam board and plastic sheeting can insulate from Concrete just as easily.
So...if the long LVL beam isn't needed, why not spare yourself the extra work and leave it alone?? Will it impede the placement of ductwork or electrical??? Just curious. It would otherwise be a sweet resource for future construction projects. Blessings!
Taping a PT board like that indoors isn’t a huge issue but just don’t do it outside. It essentially makes a bowl that water can’t escape. Rots it out 10x faster. Make sure to use galvanized nails to attach any studs to the any PT boards.
Cole consider getting a Diablo skill saw blade called steel demon, use a worm drive and it will cut threw i beams rebar steel plate way faster it will blow your mind.
$400 tool belt, $2500 rebar tying gun... and still using crappy saw blades on everything... I laughed when I saw Roman trying to cut through those studs... it cut like he had the blade in backwards.

Mostly I've seen constructive criticism. I think most people here want him to succeed and would hate for his house to be structurally deficient. I personally think he should let an engineer do some calcs especially to make sure the long beam won't deflect too much and that the posts are sufficient. Also pressure test the plumbing before pouring the floor!
What does his garage floor that hasn't even begun construction have to do with it? The way they're screwing up, the dream may become a nightmare until he gets people in there who know what they're doing. Watching a UA-cam video doesn't make you an expert. I can't wait until Cole finishes the basement floors by himself. That's one job that you don't want to do yourself until you've helped out on dozens with people who know what they're doing.

They aren't just winging it. You could use an LVL to span that 25 feet but then you'd need supports under the LVL. Since they apparently want an open space they went with the I-beam. Then the question is, what size I-beam do you need to span 25 feet, not bounce a ton, and support whatever load is coming from the second floor? I wouldn't want to guess at that and it seems like Cole is leaving those decisions to an engineer so I think we can all rest easy knowing his house is going to be just fine.

May want to call it pressure treated lumber and not green treated. The color green doesn't treat anything, the chemicals that I'm not going to list are put in a hot pressurized kiln, and then when the pressure is slowly released, between that amd the heat, it's water resistant, not proof. I'm glad to see you put a moisture barrier in between, but when burying the wood, even though it's treated lumber, I ALWAYS coat it with that spray on rubberized coating or roofing tar, just to help it last decades longer than direct burying the lumber. After me whining about a couple of things, I just want to say that me and my kids love watching the channel. The harvest time and all that is almost equally enjoyable as the house remodeling, almost! Please find another really large project to do when you guys are done with your families beautiful home! Mabey you and Roman remodel or do an addition to his families home! Just spitballing here.
Why not put your vertical studs right on top of the treated bottom plate? That double layer bottom plate is not going to add any extra strength to the wall.

Here in Ontario Canada we call your green board, pressure treated lumber. They have also switched over to a brownish colour now similar to cedar.

Yep, if that I-beam is the same height as the one he's going to weld it to, he needs to cut off the top and bottom of the "I".
He's going to fix it, he's going to use some of those $3 concrete bolts to fix it.
