I once had a true love and I loved him so well I loved him far better than my tongue can tell And I thought that he spoke and to me did say "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day" If I were an eagle and had wings for to fly I would fly to his castle and there I would lie On a bed of green laurel I would lay myself down And with my fond dreams I would my love surround I dreamt last night that my true love came in So slowly he came that his feet made no din And I thought that he spoke and to me did say "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding
Those lyrics are three alternate version “Our Wedding Day”, which Anne Buckley did record for the Lord of the Dance album. But in the show, she sang the traditional lyrics.
Nice, but so many artists have covered this traditional Irish song... from Sinead O'Connor to Sandy Denny, so many styles and interpretations. I don't think this is the best one, but I do like Anne Buckley as an artist and think she's one of the best. Some stuff she does is unbeatable!
She’s classically trained, but uses clearly traditional inflections and ornaments, albeit with true vocal training as a foundation. On the album of Lord of the Dance, she sings the alternate lyrics, about a male lover, "Our Wedding Day".
This was the early days of the show and she was newer then… but the theme of the song isn’t that crazy either. Maybe that was her intent. She’s classical trained in opera, so she knows when to hold back.
It wasn’t meant to be. This is a dance show, and her songs throughout the production are little breaks and costume changes for the dancers. Nothing crazy.
saw this live in '98 - this lady did such a great job -- great show - those women had AMAZING legs ! dang.
shes completely gorgeous. i'd move through her fair anytime
classic tune - great vocals

she seems so held back

Excellently done but afraid my heart still belongs to Meav. Meav rules this song...
Sinead O'Connor's version is so much better. An absolutely beautiful, haunting rendering of the piece.
Well, Sinéad isn’t classically trained, and Anne isn’t a rock singer, so what’s the point of comparing their versions?
i liked Shane MacGowan's version
"IT" Pennywise
You’re stupid hahaha
heard much better versions than this, its not particularly soulful or haunting
