This song is on another level. I am just getting familiar with sort of music. It is truly, truly beautiful. I LOVE IT. I heard this the first time on this very video, 'Lord of the Dance'. I just found it again today, after 2 years. I have it again, I will not go another day w/o it. EAG JW
Too see it first i felled in love with it and just made me bursting in tears...!! Beautiful beyond this life, only as angels can do with us...And Lio...cannot thank it enough..Ti voglio bene bene bene....
"Riverdance," Point Theatre, Dublin, 1995. I was there the second week after it opened. It was incredible. "Lord, etc." was Michael Flatley's rendition after he left "Riverdance."
Well, yeah, Riverdance was really not Michael Flatley’s creation, rather Bill Whelan’s, the pianist who composed all of the music for the show. After Michael’s dancing and stage presence became so iconic, and the public discovered he’s American, his fame skyrocketed, and he wanted a different production to feature himself and his concepts more. In my opinion, they’re both great shows, but Riverdance is a bit more of a cohesive stage show. It’s very “Broadway” or “West End” appropriate as a production. Lord of the Dance and Feet Of Flames were these massive outdoor stadium concerts, with huge stage sets, ultimately for 20k-50k+ people. As a fiddler and whistle player myself, I like both, but I kind of prefer Ronan Hardiman’s slightly more “trad” approach to the music he wrote for LOTD/FOF. Plus there are several actual trad tunes incorporated into the show. Bill Whelan’s compositions are extremely complex, very clearly composed on a piano… and I can only play some of them after all these years.
Actually, to be technical it's a cowl. And google works, there are heaps of sellers out there of medieval and fantasy clothing, along with many hippie stores.
I believe this is from the New York version of "Riverdance," and I do not think "Riverdance " had opened in New York in 1996. It only opened in Dublin in 1995. I was just curious as she looked very pregnant here. I think I was envying the father, if so.
Anne Buckley, the quintessential Irish woman! What a fabulous performance! Thanks for posting!
This is the cleanest and most beautiful performance of Suil Aroon, I know. I love it !!!!!
