Can you see the love in Patty's eyes when Vince comes in.. and that smile at the end at him. Both of them have said they are truly family. Absolutely beautiful.
As his wife Amy Grant says, "Vince is a musical freak." I think the same could be said of Patty and Ricky, the three of them together are a glimpse of Heaven.
This song was played at my husband's funeral a little over nine years ago. I had the privilege of meeting Vince Gill and telling him how much this song meant to me. You see, my husband was a Vietnam veteran and he struggled with the loss of both legs(below knees) for 35 years. Through all of it he never lost his sense of humor, his spirit to live and "fight" for what was right, sometimes physically if he had to. That line in the song "you weren't afraid to face the devil, you were no stranger to the rain" fit him perfectly. It was if Vince had written it just for him. Vince Gill is a humble man and every inch a gentleman. I treasure the 20 minutes I was able to spend with him. I'll never forget how caring and kind he was. To thank him I gave him a copy of the book my husband wrote about his time over there. Thanks Vince and God Bless.
You will never, EVER see this much talent on the stage at one time - cooperating. Egos be damned. These people are the best of the best and a great example of what we all should be. If you're good, everything else falls into place.
ricky Skaggs is one good country singer I saw him in Plattsburgh,N.Y.at the fai I dance a gallo we call it in Quebec,it's like a 2 steps but faster, with my brother Robert and the spot was always on me &my brother ,we won a t.shirt and we got to shake his hand I will always remember that evening we use to listen to a lot of ricky skaggs songs in the 1986-87-sad we don't see much of him on tv.anymore.we love you Rickyxx
Three of the most talented artists anywhere.........I simply love Patty and Vince singing together and Ricky just makes it beyond awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs both have that amazing tenor vocal range, so having them share a harmony with Patty Loveless is a taste of heaven on earth for sure.
Go Rest High was a song my grandmother who died in 2006 loved very much as much as the entire catalogue of Vince Gill. I miss you Mom Mom. I’m not causing too much trouble. Don’t worry.
Every one of these artists are second to none. However Vince has just a little bit extra. They are all amazing! Ricky's coming to Canada soon, and I'll be there front and center. God bless all these talented folks.
this song was immortalised when George jones passed , now it really is a legacy that people can continue in the spirit it was given in , the spirit of love
Vince Gill is One of My Favorite Singers of all time. This is One of the Best Songs that was Ever Written. It can Heal Your Soul Back Together even when it is has been Broken in Half like mine Had when my Grandmother Died
I just lost my cousin Friday & this song pays a wonderful tribute 2 him. I shared it 2 my fb as well as his daughters. Even tho vince is singing bout his brother it makes me think of my cuz!
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!....I don't think I could name ONE, let alone three of the "artist" or "singers" out now that could do this. It's great to know that there are still people out there who recognize REAL talent. Thank you for your post.
Check out Ricky Skaggs effortlessly swapping to the tenor harmony on the "Father and The Son" part of the chorus. And when they do the harmonized vocal run in the chorus tag, it is perfection! I have looped that one section nearly a dozen times now.
Yvonne Seewald VINCE AND PATTY ARE TWO OF THE BEST. RICKY IS ONE OF THE WORST. VINCE CAME OUT AND LUCKILY SHUT RICKY UP CUZ HE DIDN'T WANT RICKY RUINING IT ANYMORE. RICKY MIGHT BE A DECENT INSTRUMENT PLAYER BUR VOICE WISE HE IS GARBAGE. I WOULD RATHER LISTEN TO.REAL MALE TALENTS LIKE SAM HUNT GEORGE STRAIT VINCE GILL AND LUKE BRYAN THAN RICKY
You DO realize that Ricky (and Patty) sang on the original recorded version, right? Probably not. Of course, you lost all credibility when you used "real male talent" with "Sam Hunt" and "Luke Bryan" in the same sentence...
I lost my father in 2012..he loved your songs..i don't know if he ever got to hear this song..but it should have been played at his funeral...21 gun salute in the "Air Force..his mom and dad were farmers that worked hard in the fields and building their own store and home by hand..often helped neighbors in barn raisings and they helped him build his store..just the way things use to be..his mother and father are buried on a mountain top in the hills of KY...will always love them..and sure do miss dad..he would have loved this song..martin co. kentuckyens here...
I dedicate this song to the greatest man I have ever known my Dad. There is not one minute of the day, I don't think of you. I only wish, God, would have taken both of us that day, because I died inside. I will NEVER be the same without you. You were, not only my Dad you were my best friend. I was honored, to be your daughter. Always and forever Daddy.
This is such a wonderful song. I symphathize with anyone who has lost a loved one. I just lost my grandpa Wednesday june 5, and this song really does lift up a person's spirit. Love you Vince Gill.
carol biggs great voices from Vince and patty. Ricky not even close. So glad Vince had to gentlemanly and respectfully come onstage and keep Ricky from ruining the rest of go rest high on that mountain. Can't believe some joke at the.mall or wherever actually thought a no talent like Ricky had recorded to rest high on that mountain. Vince and Ricky have NEVER sounded alike and this is the first and last time I will EVER hear Ricky's garbage voice. If she actually thought Ricky sounded enough like talented vince then she is deaf. Sorry for her story she told Ricky because I wouldn't wish bad things to happen to anyone but she is dumb for thinking that Ricky did this. Vince wrote and recorded it by himself
I love them all. great harmony. I miss this kind of music from Nashville. While the younger new ones have talent many do not sound like country music any more. Everyone has to dress skimpy and have elaborate shows but the country quality is missing for the most part.
Name 3 new country artist that could set there and do that now. Did anyone notice there were no fireworks and dancers? Just 3 talented people singing a COUNTRY song. Someone should try that again sometime on the CMA or ACM shows, because they havn't in awhile
Watching this in 2023…. OMG HOW YOUNG THEY LOOK!
Now that's true professionalism - Ricky recovers and switches from lead to harmony without missing a beat. Well done all three!
You can't throw off these consummate performers ! Excellent!!!
The harmony gives me chills. It's lovely.
Best gospel song that Vince gill done
Love for the father and the son. Amazing.
This song was played at my sons funeral❤
Thinking and praying for you.
Those 3 make the purest harmony you'll ever hear....

I was a late bloomer to country music, but when I bumped into these folks, I fell in love with country
Absolutely beautifully sung by 3 awesome singers
Mrs. Patty could sing the phone book and it would sound amazing !!! There is some serious talent on that stage right there !
Two incredibly awesome tenors and one drop dead gorgeous red head. This has been one of my favorite songs for years. Thanks for posting and sharing.
It's Rickey's guitar and their three voices. This is perfection.
Patti Loveless could make a duet with a rock sound great. What a sweetheart.
I met Vince a number of years ago in Grand Junction. Still one of my favorites and this is a great song.
I cannot watch and listen to this one and remain dry eyed.
This song, of Vince's moves me the most.
Dennis
THANK YOU VINCE GILL!! RICKY SKAGGS & PATTY!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!♥️♥️♥️

The trinity of country music. God Bless the three of you.🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹I saw Miss Patty at the Grand Ole Opry. She was/and still is an awesome talent.
WOW love this harmony
You will never, EVER see this much talent on the stage at one time - cooperating. Egos be damned. These people are the best of the best and a great example of what we all should be. If you're good, everything else falls into place.

Words cannot express this song or these talented singers and musions 🎉
What jerk has the nerve to thumbs down???? Brilliant performance!
When Patty is singing back up she never steps on anyone. Here she is singing lead and the guys back up.
ricky Skaggs is one good country singer I saw him in Plattsburgh,N.Y.at the fai I dance a gallo we call it in Quebec,it's like a 2 steps but faster, with my brother Robert and the spot was always on me &my brother ,we won a t.shirt and we got to shake his hand I will always remember that evening we use to listen to a lot of ricky skaggs songs in the 1986-87-sad we don't see much of him on tv.anymore.we love you Rickyxx
I'm not a country music listener, but I love Vince Gill and this sont he created, it touches my heart.
Three of the most talented artists anywhere.........I simply love Patty and Vince singing together and Ricky just makes it beyond awesome. Thanks for sharing.
strawman8 TWO of the most talented artists anywhere. Ricky is an extra onstage that does not have any talent of any kind
Pure perfection
This song is always beautiful 🦋🌸💜🦋🌸💜
Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs both have that amazing tenor vocal range, so having them share a harmony with Patty Loveless is a taste of heaven on earth for sure.
Go Rest High was a song my grandmother who died in 2006 loved very much as much as the entire catalogue of Vince Gill. I miss you Mom Mom. I’m not causing too much trouble. Don’t worry.
“Death is not the last sleep. It is the final awakening.”
- Walter Scott, Scottish novelist
This song means a lot to me
So many people can understand what that song means to me! My heart goes out to all who have been there! Too many times! Going to listen again.
Every one of these artists are second to none. However Vince has just a little bit extra. They are all amazing! Ricky's coming to Canada soon, and I'll be there front and center. God bless all these talented folks.
Ricky is so respectful..
Vince & Patty rock his song together, its just icing on the cake that Ricky opens the song!

Mr. Webster's Dictionary should be updated. This is the definition of HARMONY!
A beautiful pretty red head..whom is presented as a backup, yet she IS Great Presence …. On Here Own… a Wonderful Singer…. What a Blessing She is!!
Look for the Father and the Son,,, Says it all
Man I miss music like this
I just lost my cousin Friday & this song pays a wonderful tribute 2 him. I shared it 2 my fb as well as his daughters. Even tho vince is singing bout his brother it makes me think of my cuz!
It doesn't get any better!!
Just a guitar and three beautiful voices, best musical video I've heard!
Thinking of the great Charley Pride walking with Jesus and entertaining everyone in Heaven.... God Bless and God Speed 😰💔🙏💒
It a ashamed that country music died after the 90’s. The days of these stars are long gone from radio.
Vince gill is the best blinder of sounds and voices out there. Knows when to sing and when to let fantastic voices take over. A true gift
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!....I don't think I could name ONE, let alone three of the "artist" or "singers" out now that could do this. It's great to know that there are still people out there who recognize REAL talent. Thank you for your post.

COUNTRY MUSIC HAS ALOT OF MEANING IF U JUST SIT AND LISTEN TO IT
You can't get. Much better than those three absolutely besutiful
Same feelings here! They were truly something when they sang together..
Patty Loveless: that "beautiful eastern Kentucky voice".
Love this song. Played it at my great grandmas funeral
I love this rendition of Vince's great song. Everyone is so relaxed and spontaneous .Three of my very favorite people. Beautiful.
dj peters, the 3 original people in the studio to do the original recording.
Such a beautiful song and no one can sing it like Vince Gill. It is being played at my brother-in-law's Memorial this week.

Beautiful, even to an agnostic.
3 beautiful people right here
One of the most inspirational songs ever written and I can't think of many combinations better than Gill, Skaggs, & Loveless/Krauss to perform it.
They played this song at my uncle's funeral in 1997 and to this day I still cry like a little girl every time I hear this song
Three outstanding country singers and a beautiful song. Pure country, love it.

I'm just a man.... But those 3 melt me......
i hear you
As long as Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs are still out there doing music,I don’t even care that the rest of country music went down the toilet.
Bobby lee sorrell you were only in my life for a short time. But it was worth knowing you. Go rest high my friend.
I don't care how good the singer is, he/she will sound better if singing with Patty Loveless.
Vince has such a tender, sweet voice
This song played at my 4yr old granddaughter funeral.
The blend of their voices is amazing.
Still makes my eyes water ! !
Go rest high on that mountain, Betty, daddy and momma!
I love them all. great harmony. I miss this kind of music from Nashville. While the younger new ones have talent many do not sound like country music any more. Everyone has to dress skimpy and have elaborate shows but the country quality is missing for the most part.
A fantastic performance.
I got some dust in my eyes.
Javier Sauceda i have something in my eyes as well,- but not dust😢
I love them ❤️ when they sing that song together
