Great videos. I love to see what goes on in your world. As others mentioned, we'd hate to see your dad get injured. @1:34 cut-off disks break, and when they do they fly outward, slicing everything in their path. Best to wear a full face shield, and keep the guard on the angle grinder. @3:02 when welding galvanized metal, the zinc coating turns into highly poisonous fumes. You need to be sure to strip the coating off the area you're welding, and also wear full fresh air supply welding gear.
Hi Nikki, now that sap season is over, we get to see your family's dairy operation!!.. Your calves and other youngstock are so clean, very impressive!!.. Your Dad is a true farmer, "Jack of all trades" for sure!!..Can't wait for your next video.. ;) Have a nice week!!.. :-)
Most people have no idea how hard farmers work or how many skill sets they have to master to keep a farm above water. You definitely have a family of workers!
There is another UA-camr Dairy Farmer New York. I watch. Y'all invented the word work with a capital w. Some of the most beautiful country as well in the state of New York.
Hello to everyone! Your dad should wear a hat when welding! Grass doesn’t grow on a busy street! 🤣🤣 there’s always something to do on a farm! Hard workers for sure! thanks for the video. From Northwestern Vermont
You got me curious about that as well due to a project I have with some galvanized grain bins and I see at least some types say they work as a primer which is what I would be after and Nikki's project as well. Zinc rich paint is what it is although I expect like anything there are superior products within that field. I did a search and one that struck me for its explanation was this one ( of course stupid expensive LOL ) www.fastenal.com/products/details/0815248
I didn't know you had a Dairy side of your operation.I grew up on a family Dairy Farm.I left at 19 And since 84 Been a professional truck driver still to this day.My Brother stuck with the cows a one man operation and some part time help
Hopefully you dad and warren had plenty of milk to drink while welding galvanized metal. The fumes will get to you, that is an old school fix. Great job looks very nice!
ya gotta love mud season in the northeast! makes life interesting next will be the blackflies, then the heat still dont know what part of the adirondacks ya go to just you or does yer dad get to come along to for a little vaca
I am impressed with your dad being able to weld those pipes using stick as it doesn't look like that thick of a material and so easy to burn through with stick vs mig, curious what rod size/type he was using on the headlocks. Have you done some welding yourself Nikki and regardless, by all means video yourself welding even if it looks like bird crap ! . I think your dad is in need of a full face shield though for grinding etc ( I hate goggles because I have to wear glasses and they fog up instantly inside of them )
I really hope Your Dad ground of the galvanizing before he started to weld. If he never done this then please ROAST him and make sure he does ok, as we want him around for a lot longer.
@@MapleFarmer I would like you to ask him about it please. Please check how Dangerous it is and very poisonous on the web. Stay safe and remember DANGER never takes a day off.
Cool stuff! There alot of work but man it makes working the caves faster. Do you guys have a vet that comes out weekly to do heard check of the dairy cows? I enjoy the mixture if videos. Having been on a farm some growing up and with my dad being a vet it's neat to see other operations and hear how they do things.
Ummmmm great question- i want to say it was about 8 years ago. I tell him all the time he needs to take 3 months off and just leave and enjoy life a bit!
@@MapleFarmer just use the fork as teaching tool. If they fail work quick enough there are alway time wasteing events that can be curtailed during learning. Like eating and sleeping. Good motivation makes very careful workers
Your dad is pretty good with a stick welder. His massive amount of experience shows up in that last scene with him welding.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Hi your dad do very nice job 👍 and he looks very happy 😃 to and I hope you like it to be good now have a very nice day William from New York State
Farmers have to be everything. Plumbers,Electricians,Carpenters and Welders. Thanks for sharing i miss my former farming days.
You got that right. Dad can literally fix and do everything and anything. I'm pretty spoiled having a dad that can do it all.
You know the difference between a farmer a welder an electrician and a plumber is? A welder an electrician and a plumber don’t think they can farm. 😎

Wow, I had no idea you were dairy farmers too. Can't wait to see a lot more about that. Thank you!
Yes we have a large dairy in western New York
We still use almost all old international tractors. About 5 years ago we replaced our headlocks just like the headlocks your dad just replaced.
same! We love our old IH tractors
@@MapleFarmer Could you make some videos of you doing field work?
I'm really impressed to see your dad doing everything himself with such a big farm

Nice seeing an old international harvester being used , oh and thank you for showing us these videos
Thank you for watching. I was hesitant about mixing the dairy and maple sides... but it’s out life so why not!

Farm work never ends,, Cool video Nikki!
Seriously. Never ends.
Hard working family right there!!
Seriously tho. When people complain about working full time at their 40 hour a week jobs it makes us laugh!
Thanks for the effort and keep us all fed!!
Thank you for thanking us!
Look for 'Cold Galvanizing" paint wire brush the welds and paint so they last as long as possible!
Thanks for the tip! I look into it.

Good to see your dad in your vids as well as you. I like the "mud season" comment 🤠

I didn't know you had a Dairy side of your operation.I grew up on a family Dairy Farm.I left at 19 And since 84 Been a professional truck driver still to this day.My Brother stuck with the cows a one man operation and some part time help
Yup! We have a pretty large dairy farm. About 6,000 head.
Also I’m working on getting my class A. I currently have my class B
Nice little video nicely narrated lol
Thank you
Another great video Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come soon, we've just been so busy and tired and no one likes the camera around when we are over tired 😂
Hopefully you dad and warren had plenty of milk to drink while welding galvanized metal. The fumes will get to you, that is an old school fix. Great job looks very nice!
Thanks for sharing. Would be nice to see your hole farm and how it runs.
I’ll work on putting together videos of different aspects!
ya gotta love mud season in the northeast! makes life interesting next will be the blackflies, then the heat still dont know what part of the adirondacks ya go to just you or does yer dad get to come along to for a little vaca
Dad would always take us there for a 2 day vacation growing up!
When you gonna learn to weld Nikki!? Looking Good!! Cool Video!
I actually did way back in the day.
I am impressed with your dad being able to weld those pipes using stick as it doesn't look like that thick of a material and so easy to burn through with stick vs mig, curious what rod size/type he was using on the headlocks. Wow 6ooo head of cows how many are you all milking and how many acres do you farm know wonder why your so busy all the time
milking about 2600 and working about 6k acres
Are those aluminum head locks or just galvanized steel?
Your dad loving the video but shy in spotlight
Yes he likes watching the videos but doesn’t like being on them or talking! I think he just loves to see the before and after progress documentation!
I really hope Your Dad ground of the galvanizing before he started to weld. If he never done this then please ROAST him and make sure he does ok, as we want him around for a lot longer.
I missed most of the installation as you can see I only made it there for the finishing touches
@@MapleFarmer I would like you to ask him about it please. Please check how Dangerous it is and very poisonous on the web. Stay safe and remember DANGER never takes a day off.
He does he’s actually a very cautious guy .
Wow! You all make syrupe in the early spring, plus the dairy cows! Dont tell me ya all plant to?
Yes we grow our own feed
Cool stuff! There alot of work but man it makes working the caves faster. Do you guys have a vet that comes out weekly to do heard check of the dairy cows? I enjoy the mixture if videos. Yes we have Dr John that is out several days a week
Looks like your dad was doing a really nice job welding. Has your dad taught you how to weld?
Way back in the day he did but honestly I don’t remember how to anymore
When’s the last time your dad took a vacation?
Ummmmm great question- i want to say it was about 8 years ago. I tell him all the time he needs to take 3 months off and just leave and enjoy life a bit!
Boy where I live you don't see many of the 86 series with no cab . And are you Related to Hans Boxler Jr.
Yes he is my uncle
@@MapleFarmer we need the 38 special again . I loved watching that tractor run .
How do they work
so far great
I'll bet if you restricted your skidsteer drivers to pitch forks for a month, those battles would end
No ones got time for that! Lol

Seriously how does this woman not have a ring on her finger?! Her work ethic must scare them sissy boys away.
I’m married I just never wear my ring because working the way I do all the silicone ones break and diamonds get dirty. 😂
@@MapleFarmer I totally understand. I'm an electrician/mechanic. The work ethic though.....it's a dying thing.
Ain’t that the truth. Not many people have a strong work ethic these days
WOW NIKKI !YOUR DAD IS BRAVE USEING A ANGLE GRINDER WITHOUT A SAFETY GUARD
